The group exercise classes are wonderful; instructors fantastic! But the owner is now eliminating classes, and the classes are the only reason I come to this gym. I know how to use machines--I don't want to. The physical and mental benefits of the group exercise classes can't be had by working with machines. And the stretch and flow classes, so vital to increasing flexibility, are now gone completely.

what really stands out is the variety of equipment. The gym is showing is age. Old yellow machines that are mostly off balance and NOT smooth anymore. These machines were supposed to be replaced 4-5 years ago per Retro corporate and yet they’re still there.
The latest issue, an old and typical one, the A/C is broken yet again on one side of the gym. Super uncomfortable to train on that side. Definitely looking into joining a different gym! I gave it an extra star because the staff there is super nice.

I used to love this gym heavily, have been going here for the sum of a good near decade before it was even a retro. Lately the gym has been experiencing an incredible decline however. An abundance of machinery inside the gym is outdated and broken extremely often, as well as the AC unit. As the old saying goes; “if I had a dime for everytime ___.” If I had a dime for everytime the AC was broken this year I could buy a new membership elsewhere. I know gym etiquette isn’t usually an issue for others, but the amount of purposeful slamming weights on a squat rack you can hear across the gym, “grunting” (yelling) and other obnoxious things occurring here lately is past the limits. Most of the staff up front are too shy or timid to handle any of the complaints presented to them. I want to stay here because of the accessibility and convenience of this gym being nearby, but it might not even be worth it anymore.

Everything in the gym is good but, they need to add the red light therapy that they’re offering on the tv and they don’t have it in this location. Also they should add a sauna or other amenities for the people that’s paying the ultimate plan.

Not happy with this gym at all… overpriced and lack of quality/maintenance. Owners don’t seem to care about the members concern. Air conditioner is broken every other week and always hot water fountains. Also has very old equipment with no numbers on the weights… you have no idea how much you are lifting unless you manually count the plates…. Also no amenities to justify $46 a month… no sauna, steam room, pool, basketball like LA Fitness. Can go to LA for cheaper and get way more. Staff is nice but the owners don’t seem to care to better the place or make any kind of improvements. Plan on terminating my membership

This place is amazing! Why? It’s clean. Weights are racked. There’s not a tripod in sight of anyone ‘making content.’ Staff and members are friendly and professional. Come in. Work out. Make some friends. This beats out any gym in the area. I just wasted 3 years at UFC fit (where it was dirty, there were dumbbells left in the bathrooms and the AC was out for 6 months). This place is what a gym should be.

I’ve been to Retro Fitness before a few years ago, but I’ve never come across anyone quite like Zach. He’s an absolute gem! Kind, polite, and always willing to help, even when he’s not assisting someone directly, he’s tidying up the gym with a smile on his face. His positive energy is infectious and really adds to the welcoming atmosphere. It’s rare to find someone so genuinely thoughtful and uplifting. I’m truly glad he’s part of the team at Retro Fitness. Above⬆️ That was my original review, I have had to open and edit to let Retro gym know that I am unhappy. I purchased the three Month trainer package. It was a summer promo and a special and I am very happy with the training I received, Anabel is AMAZING! I was in need of some fine tuning and I was about to train elsewhere because I didn’t want to commit to a year long contract so the THREE MONTH special appealed to me. Now, I am still getting charged after three months and this should not be happening, if it states three months the billing can be correctly done on Retro’s end to only charge for three months. I now have to go in and wait for the manager to end the “contract” . This should not be done in this fashion.

Retro is outstanding. Customer service, cleanliness, smoothie/supplement bar, and most of all, equipment are all top notch

Staff is always professional, polite, strongly encourages putting back equipment when complete, and proper gym etiquette/consideration of others.

They always have staff walking around cleaning & maintaining

Fellow gym members are mostly awesome and on the same page, this is Cooper City after all...

So I've been going here for several years now, all positives have been consistent, but, I have some criticism. I'd like to see maintenance & upkeep happen faster. Drinking fountains have been an issue for a while, they barely work, exercise equipment needing maintenance faster, & some machines need to be replaced. I'd also like to see the cooler full more often, with more options. I can go get a Celsius or Bang, etc., right across the street, for much less as well

Coming here for years. Management is awesome. Not sure if owner or corporate but they need to fix and or replace smith machine. It’s been over a month and seems like managements hands are tied in doing the right thing. Place of this size needs to have it fixed or replaced. I have been a member at Retro for years and I can easily say, I LOVE IT! The community is wonderful and the staff is always kind and helpful. Arthur and Kari really make the gym feel like home. They have a wide variety of equipment and are always looking for ways to update themselves. Most importantly, this gym is extremely neat and organized. I don’t have to waste time searching for weights or stress myself, putting back other peoples weights.

Kari is the best manager that Retro will find, she knows what you need before you even have to say anything which in a gym for me is rare! She is dedicated to making this gym the best it can possibly be and it shows, this alone makes it worth coming back. I’ve created the best routines in this gym that got me to where I am now , down 60lbs and i’ll never look back. Zero complaints ever on my end here , I do hope that one day we will see a sauna but it’s not crucial simply a great addition to a overall amazing gym (:

One of the best OG gyms in the area. 10x better than Amped , Youfit or Planet Fitness. The staff here is amazing, so are the people. There are more than enough weights and machines available for your workout. And you gotta try their amazing smoothies. Ive been coming to this gym for 4 years now and things have just gone downhill. This gym has an issue with cleanliness and pest control. Came here on Wednesday to find roaches in the women’s locker room. I immediately notified the gentleman at the front desk of the roach but he seemed unbothered. This is not the first occurrence of roaches ive seen at this gym as this has happened several times. Every time i see one i notify staff so they can kill it but it keeps happening. Clearly there is a pest control issue here thats not being addressed. I’ve never heard of a gym with roaches and its extremely unpleasant to find those things when you’re trying to change in the locker room. It was unsettling enough for me to just leave and go workout at my other gym. All the machines are dirty and full of dust and grime. The floors are full of dust and the machines leave your clothes and hands dirty. They have one lady to clean the whole gym which is completely unrealistic. Ive tried to stick it out as long as I could but the cleanliness and pest control issues are really pushing me away and towards canceling my membership.

The one star is because of the personal training program. I’m under a contract for 3 months paying 342 dollars a month for nothing. I been through 3 different trainers in a month. They can’t hold their employees so I don’t know why they keep doing contracts if there is no one to train. I talk to the manager she said she can’t do nothing about cancelling because I’m under contract.I love the gym but definitively the trainer program is a scam. Do not sign up for it! Is a waste of money ( over a thousand dollars to the trash) and time.

Total scam of a gym. I moved out of the area and have been trying to cancel my membership for over six months and they refuse. Manager is never available (no surprise) and they will not return phone calls. I had to claim fraud and cancel through my card and they keep harassing me for payment. I feel I have been more than patient so, I hope this gets dealt with by tomorrow because I'm feelin spicy and am about to make ALOT of noise!

Pros: Good selection of equipment. Nice guest policy. Easy check-in. Decent location.

Cons: They’ll keep charging your card after your cancel your membership (this is illegal!) They don’t fix anything, the water fountain has been broken for years (no cold water) and the music is bad. Everybody wears headphones to block out their terrible choice of music. I’ve heard that “I’m Good (Blue)” song so many times I HATE IT. None of the equipment is bolted down which is dangerous. I don’t know how they get insurance with the gym in this condition.

I have been a member of all other Nationwide gyms in South Florida, none of them compare to Retro Fitness. I came in due primarily to all of the great reviews and was not disappointed. The Staff is really nice and knowledgeable , I am 66 years old and have been working out on and off for the last 40 years, this Gym is really clean and best of all the weights whenever I come in are always put back in their proper place. This Gym really has all of the weights and machines you need for a serious workout! My Son will be joining the Retro Fitness in the Summer and working out with me!!

Very impressed with this Retro. It's more spacious and has more equipment than my home club in NJ. Member satisfaction is a top priority for the staff here as well. Let me explain....

My son and I dropped in at opening, on a Saturday, a few weeks ago. An employee said their system was down and it couldn't scan us in. Ok, no big deal. We went in and did our thing. After finishing up, he and I wanted recovery shakes. The employee blended them up and I handed over my card to pay. He said that the system was still down and that we should just take the drinks for free. How generous!. In that instant, I knew I'd be swinging by later, or the next day, to square up. My son and I don't sponge off the hard work of others.

Let me just say that in our home club, they don't accept cash, It's either card or they scan your barcode.

So, the two of us are leaving with the drinks; walking toward the exit. A feeling makes me stop. I look over my shoulder and ask if they take cash per chance. The employee said they do, at this location. I walked back, pulled out bills, and told him to keep the extra. 'Crisis' averted.

If I lived anywhere nearby, or even not so nearby, Davie would be my home club. Thanks.

I came down from NJ for a weekend and wanted to squeeze in a workout. This is nicer than the Retro in my hometown that I frequent daily, more spacious, more equipment for everyone to use, a lot more variety.

Afterwards I ordered a protein smoothie but they couldn’t process a card because the system was down. The gentleman was going to give it to me for free but I used cash instead. I greatly appreciate the customer service and would come back here again next time I’m in the area.

They also won’t accept cancellation over the phone or VIA email, seems as though they just want to inconvenience you & charge you more money. If you cancel “too late” they will still change you for the following month. Not worth your money.

While the place is spotless please use non voc cleaning as some of us come to get our cardio/concentrated oxygen intake here. The fumes had me almost faint.
