It has now been a month with no AC.

Update: Moving this to two stars. It is a sauna in here. It should NOT feel cooler outside in south florida. Everyone in the gym is about to pass out. 6am and it’s disgustingly humid. Fix the AC, its been like this for two weeks already

Gym is immaculate! Friendly staff and a good crowd mixture. The only negative is the temperature. I get there daily around 6am and it’s brutally warm humid inside. It all depends on who opens the gym. Once the AC situation is fixed, this gym is nothing but 5 stars!

What can I say about Retro Fitness…
The facility itself is fantastic. It’s old school gym meets new accommodating fitness facility. The manager and staff are knowledgeable and friendly. You are always greeted with a smile and when you are leaving the staff goes out of their way to ask how your workout was.
The equipment is top notch and never broken. The free weight and turn section are well designed for all of your fitness needs. The facility is clean and well taken care of. It’s a great gym all around.

I have been in the fitness industry for 30. Years owned my own gym . Work for corporate and private. The most important thing to a gym is the cleanliness and Retro has met that criteria the gym is kept supper clean. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about fitness. The manager is super friendly always a smile and hands on. I’m a firm believer that you lead by example the manger and the staff are on point.

This gym was great when it first opened. Since then, many classes have been cancelled even though they were well attended. Supposedly it was a corporate decision. Its almost impossible to get into a silver sneakers class which are only 45min and the instructors are often tardy. A revolving door of instructors and frontdesk employees as well tells me there are internal problems. Parking is challenging given the Sprouts grocery nextdoor. I'm very disappointed in the downward trend this gym has taken.

I would not recommend this gym. I recently moved and have a gym at home, have been trying to cancel my membership for over 3 months now. Calls never get answered, emails never get replied to, and I went to the location twice and was told that only a manager could cancel for me, on the third visit, I was able to speak with the manager and got it cancelled. Great right? No, one month has passed, and there it is, a membership charge on my bank statement. I know we usually don't think about these things when we sign up for memberships, but trust me, it's not worth the hassle the gym is small, and you have to compete for machines. Just Stay Away!!

I joined Retro in Delray over a year ago for the studio space, specifically for the fitness class selections. I had been pleased and have attended regularly. Over the past month or so, classes have been started to be cancelled (without notice) and/or have fallen off the schedule entirely. The gym manger Carla, can only offer a brief survey and blames “corporate “ for bait and switch- what we, the customers, were promised vs what we are now offered. I suspect something bigger is going on at this gym. The classes were full, and frequently wait listed, however no one has answers as to why they are now canceled. Hoping for some clarity soon. Stay away until this place gets its act together. It’s a shame to me, because up until September, I did love it here.

The gym is clean, but requiring a certified letter to cancel a membership is unreasonable. You've lost credibility, especially since I've been paying for the membership since April 2024. After moving, canceling my membership shouldn't feel like an afterthought. Your gym is not the County Clerk's Office.

The gym itself is nice and clean. The reason for only 2 stars is because I just joined a few weeks ago. And I only use the facility as a secondary accessory gym since I do CrossFit most days. When I joined Brian at the front counter stated they were doing a promotion for an upgraded membership. He stated that if you wanted to try out the upgraded membership for a little while and decide to downgrade to the basic membership that was no big deal just make sure you let them know at least a week before the payment gets withdrawn from my bank account. So I decided I have nothing to lose. Let’s do the promotion with the upgraded membership. After about 2 weeks i decided I should downgrade to the basic membership since I was only using the gym about once or twice a week and it wouldn’t be worth it to pay for the upgraded membership. When I went to the front counter to downgrade my membership I was hit with the comment well it is a $60 fee to downgrade. I was shocked! I don’t care that there is a fee but I was never told about it. When I told the person at the counter I wasn’t told that I was told also that Brian is no longer with the company. So just be aware of the $60 downgrade fee.

I go to Retro Fitness regularly and the biggest issue is the lack of cleanliness. I use the bathrooms and showers every week, and I constantly see the same hair and dirt in the exact same spots, which clearly shows they are not being cleaned properly. The same happens in the Pilates and Zumba rooms — the mirrors are always dirty and the floors stay dirty for weeks.

They only provide spray and paper towels to clean the equipment, but that doesn’t disinfect properly. Wipes are necessary, especially for mats and machines.

To the owners: please pay more attention to cleanliness. This is a place where everyone sweats and works out — hygiene should be a top priority, and unfortunately, it’s not being taken seriously

Planet fitness member here recently moved to the area wanted to check this gym out. The gym looks nice but it’s a bit small, cramped and not many machines I can see how you would have to wait on them. it appears to be a contest between some women on who wear the least amount of clothes, very tacky.

Here is an excerpt from their direct company website:

“Phone, Mail or Email Cancellation: Don’t have time to visit? You can also cancel your membership by contacting your home gym via phone or email. We’re here to make the process as easy as possible for you. We may have to request certain personal information to confirm your identity but that’s it.”

I have called, and called, and called. NONE of this is true. If it was I wouldn’t have multiple fraudulent charges on my card affecting my credit as I have been trying to cancel via phone since December once I had to leave for medical treatment. Completely untrue and unlawful to operate a business in this way and I am ashamed to say I joined in good faith trusting that the COMPANY POLICY would be true. They are looking for a lawsuit at this point because in reading the yelp reviews I am not the only person they have done this to.

Our sign-up process was smooth, thanks to Ethan and Madison they were both amazing and super helpful! My husband also signed up for personal training with Jackson, and he's been fantastic. The gym itself is very clean, and while it can get busy depending on the time of day, there's still plenty of equipment to use. Like most gyms, you'll see some people sitting on machines glued to their phones, but there are always other options available.

I love that they have a Red Room for more intense workouts and massage chairs in the back perfect for winding down after a session. Overall, a great gym with an amazing team!

Turns into social club after 5 every machine is taken; ppl on phones for 5-10min between sets... On the plus side it's also frequently hot enough to be a sauna so you don't need to take one separately 🤷🏻‍♂️

I signed up with Retro Fitness months prior to them opening.. Was told it would be certain classes available those never showed up.. I had upped my membership to the max membership, paid the fee to up it.

Because I am not using it I wanted to downgrade back to my regular membership I had, they refuse to downgrade me without PAYING an enrollment fee, I AM ALREADY ENROLLED.. this caused me to cancel my membership cause for someone who was a member prior you could of did right by me and waived the fee instead you would rather me go to another gym.Why would I pay you $30 when I have a membership all cause I don’t want the tanning beds and all..

Kind of shitty costumer service if you ask me.

It may be a beautiful gym but to be pretty much pushed out cause I refuse to pay more money to lower a membership

And yes I went through my contract with a fine tooth comb not one spot says I’d have to pay again nor was I told this when I increased my membership the first time around which was done by the AGM ..I asked if I can decrease was told no problem then all this occurred.

This gym is hands down the best in the area. It offers competitive pricing and a convenient central location.
The abundance of free weights means you’ll rarely have to wait for a machine or bench.
While it doesn’t have a sauna, it does feature red light therapy — definitely worth looking into. Overall, it has a lot to offer!

Has exactly what I need to get back into the gym scene, and I never feel like I am sacrificing options for price/locations. Great gym!

Nice Facility, It could be a 5 Star Gym if they add more equipment, Instead of having so many 15,20 and 25lb dumbbells, have dumbbells that increase by 2.5 lbs after 25…In addition more apparatuses need to be added, perhaps decrease the front areas seating and add machines! People go there for physical fitness not physical Sitness! I guess the gym is going through some growing pains as membership increases. All in all it’s a good gym

Decent facility. This could be a 5-star gym, but it's lacking a lot of equipment it should have. Even worse, apparently the people who work here have no clue how to set the a/c appropriately for a fitness center. It's absolutely ridiculous how warm it is in this facility. A gym should never be above 70 degrees, but it feels at least 80 in here. It's too warm to comfortably do cardio.

The gym is new so it's clean and they do make an effort to keep it that way. But they have a number of problems with the AC, fans lights, parking lot etc. And they don't really have enough equipment when it's busy. People are taking their time on machines and with easy curl bars etc. It's weird they have plenty of cardio equipment and plenty of Smith machines and plenty of dumbbells even though they're not arranged in the right order.

The equipment is very new and a nice change from my previous club which was Planet Fitness. The club is smaller with less equipment then I prefer. The biggest complaint which unfortunately is not the clubs fault, Is they are next door to a grocery market and the parking is terrible.

Since getting back into the gym after a couple years, Retro Fitness has made it significantly easier for me to finally stick with it. I owe it to the welcoming atmosphere, clean facilities, super friendly staff, and solid machines with easy instructions to understand. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone trying to get back into a routine since you'll want to dedicate time in such a nice gym with great lighting, sleek machines, and smiling faces. Almost forgot to mention, the massage chairs are the absolute best - you have to try it out.

I've had nothing but a great experience. I met Maddie before retro fitness opened it's doors she is the one that signed me up. She was very knowledgeable about the gym and she has a a great personality little things like that go a long way with me. When retro fitness in Delray opened its doors I was actually the first one to check in. The staff always says good morning when you walk in the door the gym is always clean there are plenty of free weights plenty of bench presses I wish there were more leg press machines but you only have so much room. For the most part there are plenty of treadmills. There are plenty of StairMasters.The gym members clean up after themselves which I appreciate I'm an old school gym rat I've had nothing but a good experience since the day the gym opened in Delray

It's a very basic gym which is good if that's what you're looking for. BUT, I was interested in the classes, as my condo complex has a gym. The classes - if you can get in - are good - but almost every class is closed out immediately, and has a wait list. If a class is cancelled - they won't tell you why or try to find a replacement. So, it is not worth it for me to go to this gym.

This is a great gym, and terrific value for the price point. Equipment is great and it’s a good crowd at least in the early mornings. However, they really need to get their temperature control figured out. I understand it’s a gym and we’re all supposed to be sweating but the failure of the AC to work properly is a real and consistent problem - it is often WAY too warm and stuffy in the gym, to the point of discomfort and even occasional dizziness. At minimum they really should put in more ceiling fans- the turf area in particular is incredibly stuffy ALL the time and significantly more uncomfortable than other areas of the gym, and has absolutely no air circulating. Even the water fountain / water bottle filling station is often way too warm (this past weekend it was literally like bath water) so I’m not sure what is going on with their systems and if that is a related or totally separate issue. Please fix these temperature problems!!!

As a personal trainer and home gym owner myself I would replace a couple of core equipment for more shoulder, back and leg machines (not complaining, just an observation😉). I signed in because I don’t have cardio machines and needed to force myself to get my cardio done while preparing for a competition. Now, I’m enjoying the ambiance, the friendly staff and the massage chairs😜. It’s a beautiful facility 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I was first greeted by Michael who was gracious enough to give me a tour and answer any questions I had regarding their current equipment. True representation of a great staff! This place is run by corporate robots. I signed up for this gym prior to their opening. I was told by the sales rep that I would be notified when they were open. Fast forward a month and a half I started to wonder why I hadn’t heard anything so I stopped by.

They let me know that they had actually been open for over a month and my card had been dinged twice. I asked if they could refund those charges and charge me today since I had not used nor would’ve known to use the membership.

They said nope unable to do that. Instant red flags for me. So instead of doing what was actually the right thing to do (especially for a business that wasn’t even open when I signed up), they decided to keep their $65 and lose a member, both a morally wrong and financially incompetent decision by Retro Fitness.

It's really nice, new and clean. The staff is knowledgeable, welcoming and willing to make themselves available to help or answer questions. My only negative statement is that classes for silver sneakers clients are not available yet and some of them are not included with the silver sneakers program. My old gym (out of state), we had access to all classes and use of the gym for no extra costs.

Each time I go, there is at least one person, usually more, sitting on the machines scrolling through their phones. I called attention to it to a few of the workers and they do not seem to care. The last girl I told, she said, "it's a sticky situation, we don't want to tell people they have to get off their phones in case it's an emergency." I told her there is nothing "sticky" about it, simply tell them to get off the machine while on the phone... IT's NOT Hard!!

They refuse to do anything about it!! I pay $30+ a month to use the equipment, NOT to watch inconsiderate, rude individuals scrolling on their phones.

Love the atmosphere, not intimidating. People are approachable when you ask about a machine. Employees Maddie, Ronni and Brian are all ready to help you get a great workout and answer questions. Really disappointed! Wasted use of space too. The gym is esthetically attractive but seriously deficient with machines! No seated tricep, no non-weight loaded preacher,small,small free weight area,and only one of each leg ext, seated curl etc. Good luck working legs if someone is on their phone or videoing himself.
