As I am a new member at Retro Fitness, and just getting back into working out after several injuries have taken me out, I feel very welcome when first entering the gym.
When getting my first assessment done I was made to feel good about myself and given positive reinforcement on how the gym, classes, trainers were there to help me reach my goals.
I am slowly starting back up but am feeling good about being back and am hoping I can get my strength and body back to what it once was.

Small and suffocating. No ventilation at all. No fans. Everybody is on top of you when you work out no space. How do u not have ventilation in Florida? Of all places? I’m sweating up a storm by just standing in there.

Had a free one day pass on their website so I signed up. When I showed up, they said they weren't allowing those passes and wouldnt honor it. If they arent gonna honor it, then take it off of your website. No one likes getting their time wasted.

I have been going there for one year. Equipments are clean and new, bathroom is clean and the staff is very nice. Not a huge gym, but they have at least one of every equipment needed and they have a great environment. Smoothies are delicious as well.

Well... turns out I was lied to, I can’t remember the name of guy who helped me but he said no year contract, I don’t like the gym and wanted to cancel my membership and they told me that I had a year contract with them.... I hope this gets resolved I DO NOT LIKE THIA GYM. And being made to stay when i thought I could get out at any time. I’ve been a member for only a month....

This place has gone through numerous ownership and management changes. We were members for more than a year and the current owners are the worst. Recently Retro made several unauthorized charges on my checking account that added up to more than $600!!! We disputed the charges in person, by phone, in writing and the matter has not been resolved as of yet. Each person that works there gives a different story, different excuses, then the manager quit abruptly and we had to go through the dispute process all over again. What a complete nightmare! If you are a member, please check your account for unauthorized charges. And if you are thinking about joining, please take warning!

Best gym in the community, period!! All the staff is wonderful. To those out there complaining about the yearly contract...really??? If you are commiting to changing your lifestyle and getting fit, one year is more than reasonable ....most gyms out there will even try to get you in for two years so I don't see what the fuzz is about. Honestly, if you are not wanting to commit for only 1 year people ..."one"...then you are not serious about your health and you should probably stick to a home gym.....I read the review about Alex and I just can't comprehend the lenghts some people go to make someone look bad...Alex is one of the friendliest and coolest guys you'll ever meet. I have nothing but great things to say about Winter Garden Retro Fitness and I have been a member ever since they took over Genetic Fitness and all I've noticed is improvement month after month...prices are awesome and the smaller community feel you get here makes you feel like family, unlike the big chain gyms.

I have been contemplating joining this gym for sometime due to its proximity to my residence. I started by reading the reviews and after filtering through the noise, I found out there was a trend of bad reviews mostly addressing the same two issues: cleanliness (or lack thereof) and pricing transparency. I quickly realized that many of the reviews were about month-to-month vs yearly contracts and requests to cancel membership contracts when there was to be none in the first place. I decided to call and inquire about this very issue since I am not a big fan of contracts. I deal with contracts all the time and know to read the fine print before signing anything. I was glad when phone and cable companies finally decided to do away with 2-3 year agreements. I called and spoke to Alex and specifically asked about their membership plans. His answer was $21/month. I asked if that was month to month and he said "No, that's a one year contract". I asked again if they offered month to month membership and that's where the story begins...First he said "No" then he hesitantly said "yes" I asked again "so do you or do you not offer month to month? and if so, how much is it?". His answer was "Yes, but you have to come in to get that info". By now I could see a red flag but I went on asking another question "So the answer is yes but you won't tell me how much it is monthly, right?". I was expecting more per month to avoid a yearly contract, which typically has a hidden clause that's usually referred to "Auto-renewal". the problem with this clause is that it puts the burden on you the consumer to cancel in Writing 30,60,90 days in advance. If you don't, you are liable for the remainder of the year. Even when you do cancel corporations such as this one usually find it convenient to turn it over to collections and collect a portion of that income. They know that the cost for you to fight this case far exceeds the benefits. Anyway, back to Chris. I specifically asked him one last question to reiterate what he had just said " so its $21/month and it is month to month, right?", to which he replied "yes". I told I'd be seeing him shortly. Sure enough I changed into gym clothes and headed his way. On arrival. I introduced myself and asked for Chris. He pulls a binder and starts going into his presentation about how going month to month is not the most cost effective option and how in his own words "we collect it upfront snyway!". He went on to explain that the $21/month requires an enrollment fee and other fees that total upwards of $200 due upfront and then it's $21/month. When I asked him why he was not transparent when I repeatedly asked him about the fee structure over the phone, he started saying some garbage about how they are a corporation????? and that's why I had to come in person to get the details. I was irritated so I walked out. I find it appalling that businesses continue to build on this culture of deceipt. in my conversation with Chris. His nonchalance about the whole situation confirmsed to me that it's a culture problem.

they keep closing earlier and earlier shortening the times you can work out (mostly on weekends) the equipment is never wiped down and if you want to find a employee find the group of friends cause they are always hanging out playing instead of working. actually saw them up on rafters above the bathrooms taking photos of the girls working out on the crossfit area last week. very disappointing

Fantastic gym! Has everything you need for a workout and then some! Team classes are great for burning that far away...it kicks your butt but you feel incredible after. Very friendly staff, willing to assit with whatever you need. Clean gym as well! I highly recommend it as better alternative to the big box gyms. This location has a good variety of equipment and classes offered. There is a good size area for cross fit training ($), but can be utilized free of charge if there is no session in progress. Smoothies can be purchased at front desk. No fresh ingredients. Just ice, powders and frozen fruits. I would've liked for the sauna to accommodate more than 3 people without stepping on one another. Alcohol wipes are only available in cardio section of gym. Bit of a hassle when you are trying to sanitize your equipment after each use. Staff could also be a little more attentive to guests. There are always employees talking amongst themselves and on personal cellphones.

AVOID THIS GYM AT ALL COSTS!!! After seeing the low reviews of this place, I'm not surprised to see other people have been getting ripped off by this place as well.

I used to work out at this place towards the end of last year and was moving out from the area last June-July. I went to the front desk and asked a guy working there to pull up my account and if he could cancel my membership. He said he would do it, but I might have to pay for a few more months (about 2), but he would talk to his manager (Bridgette) and help me out. He then said Bridgette (his manager) would call me. She never did. I had a weird feeling that this gym wouldn't follow through and so I thought about cancelling my credit card at the time (not the first time I was having random payments with these guys), but I was stupid enough to trust the guy to take care of it. Turns out, even up until now into November, I'm still getting charged by these clowns (about $100 for four extra months after I left and requested a cancellation fee and way past the possible two month cancellation charge).

I have now cancelled my credit card so they can't charge me anymore, and I would HIGHLY recommend that anybody who is experiencing issues with this gym or planning on leaving this gym do the same. As you can see, they have multiple negative reviews on this issue, so either they are complete idiots and highly incompetent or this is more of a systematic method they do to overcharge clients until somebody finds out and complains. I wouldn't even bother trying to talk to them and asking for cancellations because as you can see, many users have done that and still gotten charged.

Plus, this gym is not even that high quality of a gym anyways. The gym is tiny and suffocating and the exercise equipment is limited as well as the resources here. This is more of a cheap, low level gym that is a stepping stone or gateway until you have more money and ability to go to a better gym.

If you're looking for a good gym with solid management, LOOK ELSEWHERE!!! A one star rating is too generous for this place.

I've been with Retro for about a year now and this location is my favorite place to train. They offer a variety of classes such as Zumba, Les Mills Bodypump, and Spin. I find Retro to be a great place to train for people of all fitness levels and experience. The gym has a friendly atmosphere and all the staff are very welcoming. Definitely a community vibe here which is what I find lacking in most gyms I have been to in the past.

I'm very disappointed with this small gym. Back in January they made an agreement with Windermere High school to use the gym until the High school was finish. It was $21.00 dollar for each Kid. I never sign need contract with them for a year. I called to cancel this member ship back in May and they never cancel both policy. Retro has been taking money out of my account twice a month for both account. One time they took $50.00 for each plus $21.00 for each in the same month a total of $142.00 in the same month. This month they charge my account another $21.00 dollar for both plus $39.00 for both. I called them again and the only thing they told me that they don't see any cancellation. That they can't not help me. No one has call me. I never sign any contract with them or gave permission to them to take money out of my account. I need someone to get in touch with me.

Extremely irritated that every time my son goes to this gym his card scans expired. We have tried to fix this since they switched from Genetic Fitness and the manager and corporate office assured me they fixed several times. I am very upset since they collect the payment every month as an automatic payment. They even told him we will let you work out this time..... Just wondering where they are applying my payment??? There are 4 of us on this account and 3 of us never have a problem. Really makes no sense to me. Two years and still not fixed.

this gym USED TO BE good, not anymore, now is the worse! the customer service is awful, the owners do not want to buy stuff like paper towels, hand soap, the trash cans are alway full of garbage, the gym smell horrible, there are not instructors whatsoever... in the advertising you can read TRX, zumba, Kick boxing, etc... there are barely a few mediocres group classes...this gym is dying... do not waste your time nor money in this gym...I gave them one star, because there is not a negative star...

Nice small gym. I went for about 6 months and paid t months upon cancellation, which was not my understanding when joining. Crowded and not much more than the basics. Needed cleaning and regular wipe-down of equipment was lacking. Men's locker room was horrible. Kid-care was ok if your not worried about cleanliness or your child is in training for prison life.

I have been a member sense April. Was told it was in the middle of a remodel. Well not one thing has changed in nearly 5 months. I stayed because it was not ever real busy and i could do my workout without waiting. Well today was the last draw. My brother-in-law has been in town for a visit while he was working. He was going to be here for about 7 days over a two week period. So he came to the gym and was told by a sales guy he could do one day but had to pay 20 bucks after. When I heard about that the next day, I called and spoke to someone. He gave us a 7 day pass. I was honest and saud he was just visiting. Guy said no problem. Well today while my wife and I was at spin, The GM steve...sales guy Rick and the woman trainer....cornered my brother-in-law and said he was not supposed to be there unless he paid.....not privately but in front of everyone. Made a big scene. Even after he showed his pass he said I don't care you have to leave.....They acted like they were bouncers in a bar....Worst Gym I have ever been in. Do not go until Corporate wises up and replaces the three of them. No customer service skills.....I have been a leader of a fortune 500 company for 16 years.....not one of them could ever work for me......If Retro feels they are a representative of there brand.....then do not go.

Do not take your kids their either.....most unsafe kids care I have ever seen. I will be calling Child Services tomorrow. It has to be a violation.

Guess if you don't have kids and don't mind a dirty gym.....Join.....hey you will never have to wait for equipment because they will run everyone off.

Can't wait to speak to corporate tomorrow......I will update everyone in what the the true Retro fitness is.....
