Very clean, staff is friendly, family environment, everything you need in a gym. The place is quite large compared to most ymca's I've been to. It's definitely my favorite so far.

A Five-Star Shoutout to the Ladies of Roper YMCA β Winter Garden!
Iβm writing this review to spotlight the phenomenal women who make the Roper YMCA feel like home. From the moment you walk through the doors, youβre greeted by the radiant smiles of Tiana and Linda at the front desk. These two go far beyond their job descriptionsβcreating a warm, welcoming environment that feels personal and uplifting. They donβt just check you in; they ask about your day, offer genuine affirmations, and make you feel seen. Their energy is contagious, and their kindness sets the tone for the entire facility.
Inside the gym, trainers Noveline and Lilly continue that excellence. Theyβre not just fitness professionalsβtheyβre motivators, cheerleaders, and compassionate guides who elevate your workout experience. Whether youβre new to fitness or a seasoned athlete, they make you feel supported and empowered.
If youβre looking for a place where community, care, and top-tier service come together, Roper YMCA is it. These ladies are the epitome of first-class hospitality and professionalism. To their supervisors: please recognize and celebrate them for embodying everything that makes an employee truly outstanding.

Closing at 3pm on a Saturday is terrible. Weekend schedule is horrendous. If youβre going to have a very mid level gym at least have better hours. There are a lot more options on the market now not just for adults looking for gyms but also for kids and teen sports programs. Make some competition for them is my advice for you guys. I love your Christian run business it is the biggest reason I supported you guys but genuinely the facility itβs self is lackluster and there is almost no incentive to be a member here when there are so many better and more cost efficient options out there.

I am incredibly disappointed with the way the staff has handled my recent concern. Not only were the employees unenthusiastic and dismissive, but they also made it seem like I was the one confused or even lying β simply because they couldnβt see the issue βon their end.β Instead of owning the situation, they gave me the runaround and deflected all responsibility, blaming the bank for a payment that has clearly been pulled by the merchant β your organization β for several weeks now.
Whatβs most frustrating is that this had already been addressed previously, and I was told the issue was resolved and βcanceled.β Yet the YMCA continues to attempt to pull funds from my account. This is not just a technical glitch β itβs a failure in communication, responsibility, and accountability.
At this point, I no longer feel comfortable or safe having my banking information tied to this organization. The lack of professionalism and understanding from your team has left me with serious doubts about continuing my membership at the YMCA.
This experience was not only frustrating β it was unacceptable.

The staff is always friendly. It's a great place for the whole family. There is something for everyone; Child-care, E-Sports, of course exercise machines, Team Sports year around, weights, Zumba, Yoga along with a variety of classes and a huge pool. Our membership has really been a benefit to our family. The new paint job looks great!

The low rating has nothing to do with their customer service whatsoever. I worked out here while the Y that I usually go to was undergoing maintenance and was closed. I honestly would not go back here. This facility is in urgent need of a revamp and upgrade throughout the entire Y. The locker rooms have extremely outdated carpet; the entire gym has carpet which I honestly don't think is very sanitary or modern at all. The machines had so many scratches on them. I know none of this affects how a workout goes, but its a good feeling to be working out somewhere that feels like it's well taken care of, and that isn't how I felt here. The Y I usually go to has clorox wipes for the machines and this Y had a spray bottle and paper towels. I highly would recommend a major upgrade for this Y.

I have been a member of this Y for several years and it seems to be changing, and not in a good way. On several occasions upon entering over the past several months, I have had to walk through a skunky stench of weed. Weed and a fitness center don't seem to be the combination you would expect.

Isnβt there a rule about people not holding machines for long periods of time with their bags on floor? This constantly happens. My wife and I visit every day, and every day some of the same people just hold 3+ machines at a time while they go to the corner and talk. The most recent time today, we got tired of waiting so we went to a machine on our set list after politely waiting 10 minutes for someone to move their bag. Once we sat down all of a sudden. They wanted their machine and forced themselves into our set. This is highly inconsiderate and disrespectful to others. Iβve brought this to the floor members before but there has been no resolve. I pay for a family of 5 but at this point we are ready to cancel our membership and find another gym even if we have to drive farther.

Iβm not sure why personal trainers sit around, donβt interact and donβt watch members performing exercises incorrectly and consequently getting hurt. Also, your hours are bad, especially on weekends and impossible for someone to drive from work and get a work out completed with shower before 8:30pm. Overall, great staff, place to enjoy community activities and the infrastructure.

If you love working out with unsupervised young children flying off tredmills, running all through the weight machines and a staff that is too timid to confront the parents, this is your place! This is not a one-time issue. I was a member for over a year and it is constant, especially on Saturdays. You will have to wait for non-member children under 10yo to get off a piece of equipment and a staff that is absent or terrified to do anything.
And just try and call someone - no answer. Leave a message and get no reply. So, when they say, "Call Justin, our Executive Dir.", it's just a way to placate. Got his email from the downtown Central office. It's a clean nice facility but you will be babysitting. Some child is going to be seriously hurt and they'll be a big lawsuuit.

The facility needs a lot of TLC. Gym equipment is as expected, but the bball gym needs some work, and the windows should probably be covered imo because the grounds don't seem well taken care of. I know this Y is older, but it's not like they've lowered their prices due to lack of maintenance.

The restrictive hours on the weekends is motivating us to look for another gym. The Dr. Phillips Y is MUCH nicer and doesn't restrict the hours as badly but they are a farther drive. It's too bad this Y can't get it's act together/get the funding it needs. We pay more to be at the Y because of the family atmosphere but at this point...we have to start searching elsewhere...too bad.

Great location, but not so great hours of operation. The pool is closed at the times that would work best for Florida Summer weather. Closing the pool daily from 12:30pm to 3:30pm and then opening it up just in time for Florida's daily afternoon thunderstorms, just to have everyone pulled out of the pool for lightning safety makes our family membership useless to us. Also, closing early on Saturdays and being closed all day Sundays removes weekend use as well. I was told we can go to another location to swim, but that is quite inconvenient. Also, the pool area lacks adequate shade and seating.

My main issue with this YMCA is they offer group sessions like yoga and exercise at limited times and limited days. Also the group exercise rooms for yoga, etc are not very good. Sometimes exercise equipment that is not fully operational isnβt repaired on a timely basis and the facility is slow to make cosmetic repairs (like torn vinyl on exercise machines).

Super clean facility and nice staff. My daughter took the entry level swim classes here she is 3. Her instructor was kind and helpful. She was very informative and the lifeguards were active. My biggest complaint is that I spent 170$ on what I thought would be 8 swim lessons. However, if they rain out the days arent made up until the 4th rained out day. So I paid 170$ for only 5 lessons. My daughter learned what she could but I feel kinda ripped off. I think if she had the 3 more lessons she would have been at a better place to move to the next level and not repeat the first level all over again. I like the staff and the facility....but I think I will be looking elsewhere for swim classes. Which makes me sad. But as a single mom, I cant get ripped off...just cant afford to not get every penny worth.

I really like the energy of this place! The people are very much down to Earth and simply concentrated on their work out! In contrast to the annoying and multiple show-offs at the Dr. PHILLIPS location, the Roper location is just awesome and you are surrounded with normal people not self centered training animals! Another plus compared to the Dr. PHILLIPS gym is the fact that the pushy and annoying personal trainers following you and trying to sign you up are not present! This gym has more machines than the Dr. PHILLIPS gym and less people visiting so you never have to wait for machines to do your exercise! The building is old and could use a little refreshing like replacing the carpet with something else and installing bigger lockers! The real reason why I give this place only 4 rather than 5 stars is the size of the towels in the showers! Come on guys, we pay $50 per month, you can give us normal sized towels, not hand sized ones! This situation is a real joke and all other YMCAs in town offer big towels! What's going on with you?
