Star Academy of Dance & Aerial Arts is absolutely amazing! My daughters look forward to their Aerial Class every week, it’s truly the highlight of their schedule. The instructors, Miss Kalia and Miss Kimora, are outstanding! They are incredibly patient, supportive, and make every child feel confident and excited to learn. Their positive energy and genuine care create such a fun and encouraging environment. I’m so grateful for the wonderful experience my girls are having here. I highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for a place where kids can grow, learn, and shine!

My daughter loves this dance studio and that's all that matters. She is engaged learning and having fun doing it. This was her first year on the competition team and did a great job because of great instructors. She even got a 2nd place dancing against kids older than her. I know you can't please all the Karen's in the world, but this place does a great job.

My daughter has been a student at Star Academy for over 3 years. She’s participated in almost everything Star Academy has to offer. She’s done aerial glow parties, Parents Night Out events, recreational dance and aerial classes, summer camps, acro workshops, technique intensives and piano lessons. She’s even had an aerial birthday party there (which was so much fun, unique and affordable). She’s currently a member of the North River Ballet Company, about to audition for her fourth year on the Radiant Dance Collective (Star’s competition dance team) and looking forward to joining the Community Performance Team this year. To say she loves it there would be an understatement—it’s her second home.

As for value, in just three years with the studio, she’s gone from a brand new novice dancer to placing in the intermediate category at competitions, winning scholarships, judges award and Title. Her dance skills have not only improved exponentially in such a short time, she’s also learned invaluable life skills like goal setting, resilience and sportsmanship. The staff have fostered a genuine love of dance in her, and I am forever grateful for that. The studio owner and teachers are all incredibly talented dancers and gifted choreographers who truly care about the students. The studio maintains a very family-friendly environment and all of the dances and costumes are age appropriate (which unfortunately cannot be said about all studios). If you’re considering Star Academy, give it a try. They are adding new things all the time. There’s something there for everyone.

Starting off I would like to say that 90% of the positive reviews on here were done because you get a discounted tuition if you write one……….I had high hopes when I enrolled my child at Star Academy (we stayed for 4 years) but unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired recently. The owner, while seemingly friendly, appears to be more focused on accumulating awards at luncheons than fostering a technique-based learning environment for students or supporting the kids. No one should ever open a business that involves children if they don’t plan on being face to face with the kids. You can’t run a business through email correspondence. And kids know if you care about them or not based on whether or not you SHOW UP FOR THEM.

The studio itself has a decent variety of classes, but the real issue lies in the leadership. The owner is almost always absent or preoccupied with networking at events, and it’s clear that the studio's direction is lacking a genuine commitment to the students’ growth. If a business has several (20+) customers who pay 10k or more per year, the communication and face to face time should be more than once a year.

Staff members are left to manage the business while not getting paid enough for that type of responsibility, likely because the owner doesn’t prioritize encouraging her team. They are place holders to her money train. I expected a nurturing atmosphere where both the students and staff felt supported, but instead, it felt like a machine running solely for the purpose of MONEY and accolades.

I hope the studio owner of Star Academy reconsiders its priorities and puts more effort into the actual dance training and well-being (and on-time paychecks) of its staff. Owning a business for the sole purpose of collecting a check may draw in the 8 and under crowd because they only need fluff classes. Also a really unkind comment was made from the studio owner’s mother at a competition. “If people are leaving, they are the ones we want go. We don’t want them anyway.” Some people are leaving because they feel the prices are too high. They have really awesome and well behaved kids. That was the last straw for us. Bye Star Academy. We are out!

Star Academy has been amazing for our family! The teachers are caring, the environment is positive, and our girls have grown so much in confidence and skill. Our girls have so many positive role models in the older dancers to look up to! We love the supportive community and couldn’t recommend it more!

This was my daughter’s second year at Star Academy, and she just completed her first season on the competition team. She was new to dance when she first came to Star and she felt so welcomed. She has grown so much even in just this last year and is absolutely thriving. The instructors are so supportive, friendly and talented. I love the friendships she has made and the growth she has made as a dancer. We are looking forward to summer classes and camp, as well as another year at Star Academy!!

We truly couldn’t be happier with our experience at Star Academy! Our daughter started dancing here three years ago, and the growth she’s shown—especially this past year—is amazing!

Each teacher brings something unique and wonderful to the studio, but what means the most to us is how much our daughter loves and connects with her instructors. Their dedication, encouragement, and passion for dance shine through in every class and performance.

Communication with the studio and the studio owner has always been smooth and reliable.

Our dance family support each other, cheer each other on, and work together to create a positive, uplifting environment for our kids.

We’re beyond thankful for an amazing competition season and for the incredible memories we’ve made along the way. We are so blessed to call Star Academy our dance studio!

My daughter started at Star Academy when she was just 2 years old, and she’s now entering her fifth year. I truly can’t say enough good things about this studio, the owner, and the staff—it feels like one big family. As someone who grew up dancing, I’ve seen how toxic some studios can become, but Star Academy is the complete opposite.

The communication is outstanding, and the owner is always accessible and responsive. She goes above and beyond to keep costs reasonable while still giving our kids every opportunity to grow, perform, and thrive.

Don’t let a few negative voices influence your opinion—unfortunately, every business has to deal with detractors. Come see for yourself what this studio is all about. And just to be clear, I’m not being compensated in any way for writing this review—I’m simply a grateful parent sharing my honest experience.

My daughter started dance at Star Academy a little over two years ago. We immediately jumped into the competition team as my daughter had been dancing at other studio the year before and had shown interest in competing. From the moment we entered the studio, I knew we had found a great place for her. This is the type of studio that the same kid is not always front and center. Every kid has a special part for their talent to be showcased. The teachers really get to know the kids, their individual strength and always bring out the best in each and every one of them.

Caitlyn the studio owner not only is an amazingly talented dancer and amazing person herself. She works hard to find staff that are just as amazing. Each person at the studio encourages the Children and if you watch the dances that they put out year after year, you can easily see the growth the children make. My child dances four days a week but often times wants to go other days. Between Swinging from silks, doing conditioning, learning combos and choreography, and leaps and turns across the floor the kids work hard, but they have fun doing it.

Also, probably most importantly is the safety that I feel having my child at studio. Because she dances so often, I am not able to stay the entire time she’s in classes but know that she will be safe she will be loved. In today’s world That is of the upmost importance. The growth I have seen from the dancers at the studio over the past two years has been really amazing to watch. Excited for another great year ahead!

I also want to add nobody asked me to make this review ☺️

Star Academy has provided an environment of incredible growth for both of our girls. We started with Star when the girls were 6 and 2 ½, and we have been so impressed with the skills and focus they have gained at the studio. They are now 9 and 5 and enjoying it just as much if not more than the first day there. The teachers are incredibly supportive and provide love and instruction in a way where the students thrive. Our girls have made meaningful connections with both the teachers and other students. Our oldest joined the competition team 2 years ago and our youngest joined this past year – they have found so much joy and fulfillment in being on stage. The teachers and owner create magical choreography that is amazing to watch. For the youngest, it has been a heart-warming experience to see all of the older students encourage her and pull her in. We love it so much that we have had friends from school join us for the journey! Highly recommend! <3

This is our 3rd year with Star. Our daughter has received more instruction, more mentoring and more encouragement than other places that have a big name for themselves. The owner has done amazing things with these girls from professional photos shoots to using the most beautiful locations for recitals and starting an aerial competition team. Her prices are very reasonable and they really care about the girls. The owner responds to emails if there are any questions and you can tell that she loves what she does. We drive an hour for our daughter to take lessons here and we wouldn't put her anywhere else.

Our family had been part of this studio for four years, and while the first couple of years were a positive experience, things started going downhill around year three—and have only worsened since.

As a dance parent committed to supporting my child's passion, I had high hopes for this studio, but unfortunately, the experience has been disappointing on several levels.

The studio's communication is inconsistent and often unprofessional. Important information, such as schedule changes or additional fees, is frequently delivered last minute, leaving families scrambling to adjust. The studio owner is rarely present in person but sends out frequent emails that are often critical or degrading toward the competition team parents, which creates an unnecessarily negative atmosphere.

There is a serious lack of transparency when it comes to fees. Charges often don’t match what was stated in the contract, and additional fees are tacked on without notice or explanation. One frustrating example is being told that certain fees would cover events like the banquet—only to then be required to bring additional items anyway, defeating the purpose of those charges. Despite the owner's frequent claim that she doesn’t profit from the studio, tuition and team fees are more than double those at nearby studios offering comparable programs.

Last-minute practices are a recurring issue, with little consideration given to families' time and prior commitments. Choreography is often started with excitement, but there’s a consistent lack of follow-through—especially when it comes to private sessions or providing dancers with adequate time to refine their routines.

Additionally, there is noticeable favoritism from some of the instructors, which creates a discouraging environment for many of the dancers. It’s disheartening to see kids feeling left out or overlooked when they’re working just as hard.

While the dancers and some of the teachers have real talent and passion, the overall experience is affected by poor leadership, lack of communication, favoritism, and financial inconsistency. A more supportive, organized, and transparent approach would go a long way in making this studio a place where all dancers can thrive.

While the talent among the dancers and some instructors is undeniable, the overall experience is overshadowed by poor organization, lack of communication, and financial inconsistencies. The studio could greatly benefit from more transparency, consistency, and respect for the families investing their time and money here.

If you’ve read this far it would be wise for you to know that the vast majority of the reviews on here are bribed with tuition discounts.

Love our studio! We were at the same studio for 5 years and ended up switching to Star. It was the best choice we made. Both of my girls (6 & 11) attend aerial and my oldest does a dance class. This will be our 3rd full season and couldn’t be happier. All of the teachers are amazing, so many offerings from classes to private lessons to competition. Everyone at the studio is so supportive of the students and the recital is so well put together and organized. Will definitely stick with Star as long as my girls want to dance!

We love Star Academy!!! My daughter has been at this studio since they opened over 5 years ago. Very welcoming, excellent staff and students. They all make you feel like family. The teachers don't just teach dance, they teach their students to be kind and they push great sportsmanship. Not only has my daughter formed lasting relationships, I have, too.

During our 2 years, going on 3 years at the studio, I will say our daughter has grown so much especially this past year while she was on the competition team. it’s incredible to watch and see the progress of her dance and skills. It has been a remarkable experience to witness her progress and growth.

Star Academy is everything I could ask for for a Dance Studio and so much more. We are completely blessed with grateful we found a dance studio we can call home for years to come. Star Academy exceeds all of my expectations for a dance studio and offers a wide range of additional benefits. We are extremely fortunate and grateful to have found a dance studio that we can consider our permanent home for many years to come.

The most unprofessional dance company I have ever seen! My niece has been taking classes here for a year. My sister has sent multiple emails to the owner asking for better instruction, more individual attention during classes and more focus from the teacher. The teacher has constantly chosen to bring in her children and her dog to the classes. The teacher allows for students to be on their phones during classes. There aren’t enough silks for the amount of students per class. We just went to the recital this evening and my niece was unable to reach the silk assigned to her for the performance. This was noticed during the rehearsal but nothing was done to fix the situation. My niece was incredibly embarrassed during the performance and cried as soon as she was off stage. I would not recommend this studio to anyone.

The best dance studio around! Ms. Caitlyn and the rest of her teachers truly care about their students. The studio is family oriented. They offer more than just dance. You can learn aerial arts, including lyra, silks, and trapeze, music and piano classes, and I am pretty sure I saw baton classes happening. Worried you might have aged out? No worries! They have adult aerial and dance classes, too.
