Awesome Gym. I’m from out of town and came in while traveling for work to get a drop-in one-on-one coaching session from Pete. I definitely got my money’s worth. Pete was able to identify quite a few issues with my form and taught me how to correct them. He also did a good job emphasizing the areas where I performed well. I highly recommend Starting Strength Orlando. I look forward to visiting again the next time I’m in town.

Dropped in to this gym while on work travel for three weeks. I can’t speak highly enough of Coach Anthony. He delivers direct, succinct instruction for improvements and helps hit my goals. Thanks, Anthony and Pete, I’ll be back in this gym again anytime I swing through Orlando. Great community of attendees during the sessions I’ve attended, just a super positive vibe all around.

Two years ago I looked into Starting Strength Orlando because I was approaching my mid 50’s and wanted to strengthen my body. I was drawn to the small environment and professional coaches, who I knew would teach me the proper form and also ensure I was safely building muscle.
When I visited for a trial session, I was greeted at the door by a lady likely in her mid 70’s who joyfully welcomed me and exclaimed she had been at Starting Strength for 6 months and never felt stronger in her life. That instantly shattered my concern that Starting Strength was just for expert, “muscle head” lifters… here was the proverbial little old lady who was lifting weights and loving it! This place is for EVERYONE and all levels of experience. Each lifter gets a custom program that is based on them, not a one size fits all. Pete, Anthony, and Xavier… the first coaches I encountered… were warm and friendly as they walked me through how the program works. I’ve since come to know their wise-cracking, smartass sides too… along with coaches Alex, Brian, and Austin… which just adds to the great environment and professional way they help every lifter each and every session. The bottom line is all of these coaches are incredible. They care about the lifters and love helping each one gain strength + accomplish their goals.
I am now approaching the 2 year mark with Starting Strength Orlando, and I too have never felt stronger or more confident. The program is fantastic and produces early results that just continue to improve over time. The experience has exceeded my high expectations in every imaginable way… by far the best wellness & fitness decision I’ve ever made.
While I joined to build strength… I also gained some great friendships with my coaches + fellow lifters.

I started lifting here a year ago to spend time with my daughter, gain strength and avoid injuries as I age. I didn’t realize I would also gain a community of friends who support and motivate, and sense of pride in myself that had been missing, and found a safe place to challenge myself. The coaches are amazing. I highly recommend this to all women and mothers! It’s not your typical intimidating gym!

I booked a coaching session with Pete for myself and my son to get some tips on the main lifts.
I have trained for many years. The session was invaluable, my son and I learnt so much. And my lifts have all improved no end.
Pete and the team were really helpful and the equipment is top notch.
There is no doubt this was worth every penny.
Thanks all.

I was one of the very first clients of this amazing gym. I have a ton of problems that have made lifting heavy weight in the past problematic. Flat feet, forward slanting shoulders, and difficulty getting a narrow enough grip on the bar for my squat. From the very first workout I knew I was in the right place. At Starting Strength, a coach watches each one of your reps to make sure your form is perfect, and your lifts are safe. They tailor your training to your unique needs. I never thought I’d be able to squat more than 135 lbs. I now have a personal best squat of 285, and a deadlift of 405! If you want to get strong safely and the right way, give this gym a shot.

I came to starting strength with some nagging injuries that had bothered me for years. The professional coaching and excellent programming in a small group environment aided me in not only feeling better, but also in getting the strongest I had ever been in my life. I cannot say enough great things about the clean facility, quality equipment, top notch coaching, and convenient location.

I sought Pete Troupos out because I’d heard that he could help me fix my squat technique, which was resulting in injuries. I’d tried several other places and people with no improvement. While visiting from Canada, I figured this was the perfect opportunity to seek him out, if not anyone from a Starting Strength gym, which we don’t have back home. I didn’t want someone to just tell me to “do front squats instead”, or “don’t lift so heavy”. I wanted help from someone who understood my goals and the program.
He spotted the issues right away and had me squatting correctly by the end of that session. The value of an in-person coach could not have been more clear: I needed someone in the room with me who could give immediate corrections between reps. Immediate feedback is a much better way to learn. I needed someone in person who could l tell if I understood what they were teaching me. I needed someone in the room who could physically correct and adjust my position when words are untimely or not as effective.
Furthermore, Pete had me film this process on my phone so that I could play it back for myself later, once I’d forgotten the details.
I’d been plagued with shoulder entrapment pain following heavy squat sets for a couple years now. This is not something you should be feeling if you’re squatting correctly. I’m finally excited, not dreading, the idea of surpassing my previous best of 350 lbs.
Thanks Pete, you’re a great coach!

I've been in the Starting Strength program here for about a year. Thanks to the thoughtful individual programming and continuous form coaching, I'm seeing real strength gains way beyond what I was able to do on my own. Hanging out and chatting between sets with the great folks in my class has been an unexpected bonus.

I was in Florida for a short period of time and contacted Starting Strength Orlando in hopes of getting a single session for the purpose of checking my form in the main Starting Strength lifts. I live an an area that does not have any Starting Strength gyms or coaches anywhere nearby, I was excited to
get feedback on what I've been doing for the last two years, in hopes of avoiding common pitfalls or injury (I'm in my mid-50's.) I was able to get a training session with Pete on short notice, and it was well worth the time and price. After an hour session I had clear focal points to improve my squat, deadlift, and press - things that I never would have picked up on myself. I also acquired programming advice that accommodates my age and experience, and I look forward to implementing it safely for continued progress for years to come.

I highly recommend Starting Strength in Orlando! This facility is truly top-notch, offering one-on-one coaching at a fraction of the cost of most personal trainers. The program is designed to rapidly increase strength through safe and effective lifting techniques, making it an excellent option for anyone looking to optimize their health.
Backed by both the iMME (Institute of Medical Maintenance Engineering) and the Pazio Institute, the Starting Strength approach has a wide range of health benefits. Strength training like this helps build muscle mass, countering age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia), which is linked to many health issues as we age. It also increases bone density, combating osteopenia and reducing the risks associated with age-related bone loss, including fractures and mobility issues. Beyond that, it supports nervous system health by maintaining large alpha motor neurons and fostering neuroplasticity in the brain, helping to preserve coordination and balance. The mitochondria in your body are responsible for producing the energy needed for all cellular processes. As you age, energy production declines, but damage accumulates, leading to the fact that the older you get, the faster you get old. Strength training increases mitochondrial density and quality, enhancing energy availability and cellular repair while slowing this aging process. Additionally, this type of training has been shown to improve metabolic health by reducing insulin resistance and supporting healthy glucose levels, which is vital for preventing diseases like diabetes.
The facility itself is exceptional: clean, well-equipped, and reasonably priced. The coaches are highly knowledgeable and attentive, ensuring every session is safe and productive. Each coaching session instills confidence, as the focus on proper form reduces the risk of injury while maximizing effectiveness. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced weightlifter, the coaching staff’s expertise in periodization and progression ensures tailored programming that aligns with individual goals and abilities. This allows participants to see measurable improvements in strength, endurance, and overall vitality.
If you're looking for a time-efficient, highly effective way to exercise, Starting Strength in Orlando is the place to go. Simply show up 2-3 times per week, follow the expert guidance, and watch your strength and overall health improve. It doesn’t get any easier, safer, or more impactful than this!

Worked with head coach Pete Troupos for a one-off session as I'm beginning to strength train again after a few years of minimal progress. We went through the Squat, Press, Deadlift, and Bench Press dialing in on my form and giving me a few cues to help me maintain correct form when I'm lifting on my own. He also went above and beyond and gave me a few paths I could take as my training progresses out of the novice phase into a more intermediate phase. Lifting at Starting Strength Orlando does not really fit into my schedule, but I would recommend this gym and the structured coaching approach for anyone who is interested in getting physically strong.

I was travelling for work and in town for a week. There is no Starting Strength gym near home, and needing to correct some technique issues, I called Starting Strength Orlando to get a coached session while in town. Pete was able to quickly schedule me for a one on one coached session.
I found the gym to be perfectly clean and well maintained. The equipment is excellent quality. I cannot overstate how clean the place is, I could eat off the floor.
My coached session was extremely helpful. In an hour Pete was able to help me determine needed technique changes/tweaks for 3 lifts (Squat, Press, Deadlift). These suggested changes, and the learning that accompanied them, will definitely help me lift more efficiently and heavier going forward. I left knowing significantly more about each lift movement, and how it relates to me as an individual lifter, than I knew going into the session. I think anyone, either new to lifting or highly experienced, would find the coaching here superb.
I highly recommend Starting Strength Orlando! Thanks again Pete!

I’ve been attending Starting Strength for about two months and have been super impressed with the entire process. As a woman, lifting in a typical gym environment has always been intimidating and overwhelming. Starting Strength removes all the barriers to entry and provides a small, welcoming environment to learn and get stronger in. By creating a personalized program for you and providing real time coaching and feedback, the coaches ensure that you are consistently increasing your strength in a safe, sustainable way. All the coaches are encouraging, meet everyone where they’re at, and put great attention to detail into their programming and coaching. In just a month of working with them I noticed a positive difference in how my body felt in my day-to-day life. I’ve also felt my mental strength and confidence improve – it’s so rewarding to see measurable improvements every week! The environment is leagues above a typical gym – clean, never crowded, and enough equipment for everyone. Overall, I think the program is an incredible value and will benefit anyone willing to show up.

I've been meaning to post this for months...sorry Petro!
I joined Starting Strength late November 2022, based on Dr. Sully's "The Barbell Prescription" and of course, Rippetoe's "Starting Strength" bible.
I had just gone through a major heart attack scare @68 years of age and was not about to take it lying down. After consulting with my cardiologist, and his saying that strength training was the best thing I could do, I filled up the car and went to Maitland for my introduction to SS (I live near the beach one hour and 40 minutes away).
Pete impressed me from the get-go, his dry wit notwithstanding. I thought I'd give SS a try, despite the long commute. I thought I'd give it a few months to get confident with the exercise forms and maybe try it on my own (no matter how many times I pleaded with Pete, he just wouldn't take his band beachside!)
I ended up going with the program for 10 months! That's how much I believe in it. I carved a 5-hour chunk of my Tuesday's and Thursday's for this amazing program!
I even sold my truck and bought a hybrid to make it a little more cost-efficient.
Ultimately, the commute wore me down...not the program. I am considerably stronger now, but am trying the program on my own in a local gym. I've managed to not miss a workout and continue making P.R.'s. I know that it is not the optimal alternative, but Pete, Xavi and Anthony have instilled a deep sense of purpose and true enjoyment in working this old body hard....slow and steady.
I've found that SS has made me a lot more confident in how I do everything...from planting a large palm tree to hitting a tennis ball...or how I walk down the street.
These gentlemen are a great team and I am truly a better person for knowing them!
Pete, bring your show to the beach!!
P.S. - I got my truck back...

Starting Strength Orlando is a perfect place to learn and train for strength.
Pete is one of the best coaches in the business. He knows strength training cold. He also knows teaching cold. He'll be able to help you more with form and technique in a few hours than most "coaches" at any globo gym could ever imagine.
The facility is clean, very well organized, and has everything needed for strength training. The staff is friendly and helpful. They make you feel completely at home. Zero pressure regardless of prior experience, age, or ability.
I travelled from Miami for the incredible coaching and it still exceeded my expectations. Folks in Orlando are fortunate to have people and a facility who really know strength training so close.

I fully recommend SS Orlando for anyone looking to get seriously strong and improve their health. The gym is clean, and the equipment is very high-quality; a joy to use. The gym’s pleasant and open atmosphere makes every session a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The layout is practical and aesthetic. Everyone has their own equipment and is out of each other’s way.
The coaches are simply built different. They’re on a completely different level compared to typical personal trainers. Their extensive knowledge and experience with programming, diet, anatomy, form, etc. is astonishing. As long as you trust their judgement, do what they say, and are open to communication, you will be successful.
You won’t feel like just another client at SS Orlando. You’ll be part of a community of hard-working people who cheer each other on as they achieve things they didn’t think was possible for themselves. I never thought I’d deadlift over five plates and squat over four in less than a year, but I did! The coaches and members truly care, and they’ve never failed me. I’ll always be grateful for that.

Just got done with my intro session and I have a good feeling about this strength and conditioning program. I have been looking for a way to get back into the gym and I wanted a little bit more than what the traditional gym offers.
Knowing myself, if I were to join a gym, there wouldn’t be anything to keep me there because I would get bored and there wouldn’t be any accountability or team environment. So, I decided to go in the direction of getting a personal trainer, which is what these guys do, but I’m a small group setting. I’ll be adding more to this Google review as my Fitness program evolves.

Starting Strength Orlando was my first experience with a Starting Strength Gym. I popped in for an early morning lift while in town on a short trip with my family. I am an online coaching client with another Starting Strength Coach, so I visited this gym with my training session already programmed by my coach. Coaches Pete and Jacob at the gym worked with me, providing in-person, real-time, and effective coaching. I was very impressed with what they could do with a walk-in client like me. There are trainers, and then coaches, and then there are Starting Strength coaches. There are gyms of every ilk these days, and then there are Starting Strength gyms. I spent the week of Hurricane Ian in Fort Lauderdale and made a special trip to Orlando for the specific purpose of training at Florida's only Starting Strength gym with Jacob Pearce, and I cannot say enough good things. Jacob is an extremely astute coach. In one hour, he made my squat more powerful and efficient; taught me the crucial hip rebound for OHP; and tweaked my deadlift in a way that made a heavy pull feel like a cake walk. Under his tutelage, everything felt smoother. It's akin to the instant that you have a revelation and smile inside, reaching your full potential. I had been training the barbell squat consistently for three years and struggled to find the right bounce out of the bottom. Jacob taught me the proper depth and hip drive. His coaching is very intuitive; his cues are easy to grasp; and he misses nothing. A plus was Pete Troupos there, providing levity and fun, and I left Starting Strength Orlando a happier, better, and stronger person. I enthusiastically recommend this gym to everyone, from those who have never lifted a weight to those who have been lifting for years and believe there is nothing left to learn. Even though I live far away in New Mexico, I want to return one day. They are THAT good 👍.

I signed up for a private with Pete Troupos. I used the Starting Strength program years ago post back operation with very high success. I took some time off low bar and that specific program all together.
I needed someone to get an eye on my lifts now that I started again. Couldn’t ask for a better coach. His cues were spot on and have stuck with me during practice at home. Cleaned up and made me aware of a lot of mechanics that I was performing poorly.
