Played in November 2025 while visiting family. Had the pleasure of playing with two members. For the price, it is a great course. Don’t expect Augusta national greens, but they run true. Fairways were cut low, rough was high and will punish you. Highly recommend!

My friends and I (a group of 8) stopped by the Westminster club while waiting for others who were golfing. I ordered a flatbread, but after a couple of bites, I realized it tasted like frozen pizza. I politely asked our server if I could change my order, and she said yes. She was kind and professional throughout.

However, after I placed a new order, a manager named Rachel—who appeared to be off-duty and came in with wet hair—approached me and insisted I pay for the flatbread since I had taken “some” of it. I explained I had asked permission from the server first and had only taken two bites. Rachel’s response? That I had eaten “two pieces,” and that was enough to charge me.

I was surprised not just by the enforcement of this policy (which seems questionable), but by the dismissive way it was handled. She eventually asked if I could at least pay $5 for the bites I had. I declined—this left a very sour impression. We all were stunned at how she behaved.

I don’t believe this reflects the kind of hospitality one expects at a clubhouse like Westminster. I won’t be returning. The only upside was our server, who handled things with grace.

I had high hopes for this course, but when I started playing it for the first time, the course is in rough shape. On half of the holes, the “greens“ are on the fairway right before the actual greens because the greens are so torn up and in such bad shape, it’s unplayable. it’s unfortunate because it looks like a good course when it’s in good condition. I would call before I go play to see what type of condition the course is in.

Our first visit to 'The Club at Westminster' was somewhat a surprise as we were told by a few visitors to the NEW 'Westminster' that it was struggling after last summer's redo!
The course has never been better except for a few greens that are fighting to finish "filling-in"!!
Call us goofy, but many of us thought Westminster's grass rivaled or exceeded Gateway's (our home club) condition over the last few year. There is one green that is quite bad but according to the pro, it will soon be plugged with turf from Gateway. This was the consenses of 9 guys that played. Don't shy away from this place, we found nothing but good including the food.

Played here before and the course and conditions were good. What was not so good was a $45.00 rate for a 4:45 tee time. Ended up at $127.00 for two. The guy working getting us checked in and getting our cart was not friendly at all. Gave us a cart that was wet from cleaning and wasn’t to happy wiping it dry. At the turn carts we’re in our way and rudely said back up and go down the street to number 10. Could have easily moved a cart or two. Lastly we flew the first 4 holes but then it got bad. 2 younger golfer with an older man slowed things down. The two young guys took a minimum of 2 to 3 shots each time. The older man didn’t play but we’re teaching them. They never let us play through as a single caught up to us. He went and played the 10th hole while we waited and waited. Golf etiquette you let the group play through. It took us less time to play the first 4 holes and 10 thru 13 than to play 5 thru 9.

I enjoyed the course at Westminster. I read online that the course was redone in 2023 so I had high expectations. The back 9 was gorgeous with well kept greens. The front 9 however was spotty with some hard ground in the fairways.
I rented clubs there that were brand new, fantastic clubs at a fair rate.
I wish there was a cart girl out on the course or water jugs at a few holes.

Had a great time here this past weekend. Very enjoyable course layout, and course was in very good shape. Greens were freshly cut and very firm. Required a controlled shot to hold the green. Putting was slower, but based on feedback from the starter, that should be changing this upcoming year. Bunkers were in great shape. Played well out of them, even with them being wet. A variety of tee boxes allows you to challenge yourself if you so choose.

Played here last Friday. I was excited to hear this place was re-opening after a renovation but my excitement was gone after playing just a couple of holes. I recall the last time I played here last year, the greens were in such bad shape. Well the greens are still in bad shape. Overall, I do like this course layout and the club house is great but I will not be playing here again due to the condition of the greens.

Seems like a great course but not the best staff. 1st guy tells us it’s okay to have 3 people in a cart, given they didn’t have many left (could see ≈25 carts). Little while later a 70y/o guy is driving up to us yelling about a two-person cart limit. Amongst other rude interactions from the old guy we just ended up leaving early. Lack of staff communication, or maybe it’s just that we didn’t look like their typical folk.

Dec 9,2022. I decided to take my family out for a day of golf on my Birthday. We set a tee-time for 3 , all good there. I asked if they were busy today and they said, no. We were happy since were not pro-golfers and wanted a chill day with the family. We make it to the 2nd hole and we had people asking to play ahead. We said, Ok. Then we go to the next hole same thing disrupted by older golfers to play and pass ahead. All were playing around of golf and then heading to dinner.The guy at the course came out and said, that we were just to let them pass. I said, I paid to play and it will not happen. He drove away.
It kept happening 2 more holes and the respect from theses golfer was rude and thought they were better than us. Which was not the case they were terrible.
I went back to the club house and I asked for the credit and I said, I will never waste my time and money on a course like this ever again.The course wasn't even green and wasn't in the best shape. Try to keep business local but, NOT AT THIS COURSE!!

The fairways are in great shape and the staff was very friendly, but I have no idea what happened to their greens. Never have I ever not been able to come in this community to visit my friend with my passport. I forgot my license. My passport is another form of identification that i quite often use everywhere. John the security guard at the gate denied me coming in and was rude about it. I've been here plenty of times and have got in with my passport. He even kows my name from my friend so thats verification there too. I kindly drove back to port charlotte. I understand there are rules , but my passport doesn't count, Never heard of a thing.

This course has a terrific layout with tee boxes for EVERY handicap. The management is continually making improvements to fairways, green, and bunkers. We have a group that plays here twice per week we see a great course with plenty of challenges. Once you are done with 18 holes, the restaurant can satisfy most golfers’ thirst and hunger.

A diamond in the rough, very rough! I like the layout. The 8th hole, lined with Palm trees, is one of the prettiest holes in SW Florida! But I believe it is in woeful need of a change in ownership. The first thing we saw when we arrived was a dead bird in front of the clubhouse. The clubhouse, pro shop, and bathrooms were dirty and tired . It needs some TLC. The worst part of the course are the greens. They have let invasive grasses grow through the greens. Its like trying to putt through weeds. It is really sad. And the saddest part is we paid $82! I know it's season still, but the way the course is maintained, the price should have been cut in half. The 3 groups of us that went out decided that we would not play there again, even when the prices come down in May.

Fairways mostly thick grass cut short, but some thin areas near the edges. Thin means your ball can rest on soil rather than a grass carpe and still be on the fairway. Greens are slow, maybe 8 or 9 on a Stimpmeter. Greens also grainy and bumpy due in part to mixed varieties of grass.
Pace of play the day I played, 6.5.17, about 3.5 hours.

I was very happy to find the greens were in great shape. Westminster is a much better than average course; not top tier, but a comfortable track to play especially at discounted prices. I signed up as a single and was happy to join a husband and wife twosome who were both good golfers and very comfortable to play with. Ron (GHIN 17.6)

Played twice and Found these golf experience's to be a great from the time we arrived at the gate, from the bag and cart fellow and the great pro shop girl from Boston and other staff who direct golfers. The course was very upscale feeling yet very relaxed atmosphere. Cart girl was very cute and funny. The practice facility was top of the scale . The greens were fast as I have seen in this area of Florida and the fairways quite green and good lies for this time of year to hit off. The rates are very good for peak season. Lastly, the layout is a very good test and as good a design as one could ask.

Course:

The Westminster Golf Course meanders, and sometimes squeezes its way, through the Westminster community and the thick palm bushes. As is often the case with community golf courses, there are a few instances where real estate that might have been used for course, is instead a back yard or a road. There are OB stakes at one place or another on all 18 holes, and maybe 15 of 18 holes have them on both sides. That said, Westminster isn't the worst offender in the community course category - that honor belongs to Grandezza in Estero, with a close second awarded to Vasari in Naples.

The course is designed with the white tee warrior in mind, quickly becoming unplayable from the further teeing grounds, largely due to bottlenecks and the kind of palm bush colonies that'll haunt your dreams and tighten your grip.

While the fairways are generally in good condition, and there is a clear delineation between fairway and rough, they do suffer from being a very old strain of bermuda - very grainy, thin in spots, and prone to being either too sandy or muddy and wet. Even in the drier winter months, run isn't something you'd ever expect to get much of at Westminster.

The green complexes are well kept, also older bermuda. Hitting greens in reg is at a premium at Westminster - being a foot off the green often results in a lie where the bermuda is thick, but not thick enough to keep the golf ball from sinking to the bottom. When putting, grain is almost as important a factor as pitch, and there can be some variation from week to week in respect to the speed.

Quality/Price Ratio: In the summer months, the price/quality ratio is very good. As winter approaches, the price spirals and the value ratio deteriorates. This is a $35.00-$40.00 a round golf course, max - the course doesn't transform into a winter condition that justifies the $50-$60 valuation. In past seasons, the winter time price tended to be a little aggressive. This season, thus far, prices (And especially if they're booked online) are more reasonable. The $25 Sunday December special is an excellent value, for example.

Clubhouse:

The clubhouse is nice, and the bar and restaurant is spacious. Tables can be easily pushed together for large groups, and the food ranges in quality from good to surprisingly good.

Staff: The staff is full of helpful people, many of whom have been with the course for years. The rangers and starters are older, campy guys who enjoy golf and enjoy being out of the house.
