I’ve been a loyal member here for 4 years and have always had great experiences—until recently. I arrived about 5 minutes late for a Pilates class and completely understand giving priority to waitlisted members. However, there was an open reformer and I was still refused entry. In the past, I’ve been allowed to join when there was availability, so the inconsistency was frustrating.

What was most disappointing was how the instructor handled it—she was unnecessarily rude and dismissive, which left me feeling unwelcome. As a fitness instructor myself, I value clear communication and professionalism, and unfortunately, that was not the case here. I would never handle a situation like this because you never know what people are going through, and someone’s fitness journey can be very sensitive. I drove across town for this class and would not have come if I had known I wouldn’t be able to join. I won’t be taking classes with this instructor again, but hope the studio addresses this so other members don’t have the same experience.

On good faith, I signed a contract before they were even open for business…now they want to charge old ladies (my 85 y/o grandmother) $25 for a day pass to TRY out ONE class… I can see something reasonable like $10, but the owner has proven to run a profit over the people who provide his profit mentality.

Its an okay gym, there’s a couple things needed to be pointed out though. It’s very cramped all the machines are pretty close together. The maintenance on some machines is pretty bad there was a point some of the machines weren’t fixed for two months at most. The bathrooms smell like mildew and aren’t clean sometimes. The prices for the gym is pretty high for what it is. Other than that the middle part of the gym where the turf is and the squat racks is probably the nicest out of everything else in the gym. The staff are friendly but other than the bad things it’s Okay for a gym and you’re definitely better off going somewhere else like golds.

The gym itself is great! I travel 30 min just to go there. But from there I have to travel 20 min to work so I have to shower there and get ready for work. The showers are absolutely disgusting. I put in a request for them to clean the mold, they responded that they are cleaned daily… OBVIOUSLY NOT... SEE PICTURES FOR MOLDY SHOWER HEADS. I cleaned one shower myself then someone got it stuck on scalding hot, the handle was already broken. Then I had to clean another one. Today someone was using my clean one so this outraged me that I pay a good amount to go to the only decent gym around, and have to clean it myself.

Evans fitness likes to sell you any way they can to get you trapped into a plan that is crazy overpriced . They sold us by telling us they would be opening a new location in Grovetown which would have been so much better considering we live in Grovetown and trying to get all the way over to Evans is hard for us sometimes . We went for a while but had to stop because it was too much to deal with and they told us the new Grovetown location would be open 2 decembers ago . I’ve tried to cancel our membership but they refuse to let me unless I have proof of moving away . I just want to cancel due to unforeseen financial issues and not even using the gym anymore but they have no other options other than moving or paying the rest off . If I could afford that I would so I could be done with them but if your thinking of joining make sure it’s what you really want and that you plan to be able to go for as long as your membership is and the pricing is outrageous ! If you’re thinking about getting a membership do yourself a favor and go to planet fitness or somewhere where they have multiple locations and are more understanding . Everytime I’ve tried to call them about trying to cancel my plan I always get attitude from someone over the phone and I’m honestly fed up at this point . Yes they gym may look nice but it’s definitely NOT WORTH the scam they are running .

I'm changing my review due to how much of a pain it was to cancel. This was a few years back, but reading about the same issue. We had to call a third party processor on a very specific day to cancel. It worked, but it was such a pain due to long holds and EFC wasn't upfront about that. Beware as others say. Price is a little steep buts it’s definitely better than that cheesy “black card” or “G**** Gym” thing and the once a yr annual membership dues can be a surprise when it happens, (would be nice if a warning was sent out at least a couple days prior) but overall it’s well worth the money, I’ve been a member for almost two years and I’ve seen the improvements/additions they’ve made in their equipments AND it’s maintenance. I have been a member of EFC for almost two years. I use this gym mostly for the high -quality classes and the sauna. EFC offers great hot yoga classes--I especially love Elsie's Sunday hot yoga. Zumba is always post-on as well. The equipment meets my needs and everything seems to work whenever I use the machines or weights. We will continue using this gym, especially since there are no yoga studios in this area.

I was going to try out the free trial because the fitness center is only a few miles from my house, but after reading all the negative reviews I won’t be signing up for this gym. I will continue to drive the longer distance and utilize the free fitness center and indoor pool at Fort Eisenhower. I’m glad I saw all the reviews about the contracts, locker room and bathrooms.

I did use this fitness center when I was active duty (Army) and I recall how difficult it was for me to cancel my membership when I came down on PCS orders. My wife and I had to pay a hefty cancellation fee back then.

Solid gym with wonderful classes and equipment, but the facilities are rough. The men's bathroom has signs of abuse to the lockers, showers, and toilets. The gym even had to stop offering towels to members because so many were stolen. In addition multiple times the bathroom floors were so wet I saw people slip and fall. This is obviously a safety concern

When choosing a gym the kid care played a huge role as a mother of four young kids. The kid care at the EFC is exceptional. They get to know your kids and treat them so well. I’ve always been so impressed with all the employees who take care of my children.

They don't list prices on their website so you MUST go there and talk to them in person where they make you WAIT to see a salesperson who uses all the tricks you would come to expect from lousy car dealership. EVANS FITNESS CLUB HAS THE BEST CHILDCARE EVER! The staff is amazing, loving and caring for your children and is always there for you as well! You walk in to that childcare and the atmosphere in there is always welcoming. Another perk is that they always keep the childcare clean and organized this way they try to keep away all the little germs that they possibly can by cleaning top to bottom every single shift. They also offer parents night out, kid fit classes, which is amazing. My kids absolutely love. Going in there and playing on the jumpy and the basketball court and meeting new friends. The gym is well maintained and clean. They did an amazing renovation that I absolutely love and i truly enjoy working out here at EFC. All of the staff are very respectful and welcoming! This is the better of all the gyms in the area. Just beware that the equipment is going down hill and the locker rooms are trashed or stink most of the time. The mens at least... a lot of the lockers are broken or have stains and smell bad. The urinals have urine and the same pubes there on the floor for days in between mopping, and the music is too loud in there most the time.
They recently did an upgrade on the equipment and put in a new series of lifting racks that are nice but I always find major structural nuts and bolts loose or on the floor as well as most of the other machines in the building. Its nice going here because the people are serious but friendly and nice at the same time. Just bring a pair of channel locks and some grease to tighten the machines you want to use.

This company is insane!!! instead of paying their cleaning company out of their account someone created a process to charge every customer and additional monthly fee for one month which for me was 120 dollars for the month. Let’s remind you I wipe down equipment too shouldn’t I get paid ! This was never explained or clarified to me when signing up. This may get long winded. I am a person who works out at least 3-4 times a week. My regular gym is 24 hours but only offered equipment, no classes. Well, I was really interested into getting back into group fitness classes and heard about EFC. I was sold after the tour and class list. There are many varieties of classes from cycling, yoga, barre, bootcamp workouts and the les mils classes (body pump, zumba, etc). I signed up for the year upfront as the special was buy 12 months and get 6 months free. The price for me was reasonable as a single person when divided across the 18 months and a cleaning fee is not included if you pay upfront. The equipment is decent and rhey have plenty of most machines, benches, and racks. I have enjoyed the sauna after every workout and sometimes use the steam room.

I will say that I've noticed a lot of members, male and female, don't tend to wipe off equipment after a workout, usually the cardio equipment so please wipe before and after use.

I paid upfront and I'm a permanent resident of Columbia County so I can't speak to the issues with ending the contract early for those temporarily stationed here or moving away.

The instructors have all been nice and friendly. Even though I'm in good shape, the classes do give me a good challenging workout.

For what the gym offers, I think its worth the money. The family plan would be double the rate I paid but I was told it can allow up to 6 users on one family plan so if you have a big family, it may be worth the cost if all the family members use the gym.

I didn't pay the extra for the special 2 classes they offer and also didn't need the daycare but that is an additional cost. They have a hydromassage machine, I didn't pay for that either. I feel the basic amenities were suitable enough for my fitness needs.

Gym is probably one of the best in the area. Usually doesn’t get too busy and plenty of equipment. Giving 4 instead of 5 due to their being no mirrors in the free weight area, and is a bit pricey.

Tyler went above and beyond during our enrollment process. He was helpful and available without being pushy. He answered all of my questions and did a great job and is a large part of the reason we joined EFC! As a family with teenagers and a toddler, it’s nice to have a healthy activity that we can all enjoy together thanks to fun childcare that the little one loves! Thanks Tyler!

My husband was a big fan of this place when he had a membership years ago, so we went for a tour and to get membership information after looking online and being bombarded by marketing text messages from three different phone numbers weeks later. It has had renovations and modifications done to the layout, offers lots of classes, and even has a daycare! While everything offered seemed nice, the cost of a membership was just not justifiable at this time.

Can’t brag on EFC staff and facilities enough!! So many great classes & equipment to work with. Not to mention my kids love the Club house.
