What a joke of a gym. I had been a member there for about 6 years. Initially when I signed up, my contract was a year, then it was month to month after that. I finally wanted to cancel, and was informed my contract stated I needed to give 60 days in advance. I told whoever I was communicating with to send me my original contract so I could see it. She apparently sent me a contract that I never signed, someone else signed in my place. That particular one was a "renewal" after my original contract ended. After I made her aware that that was not my signature, she then sent me my actual original contract, on that contract it stated I only had to give a 30 day notice after my initial 1 year contract ended. I kept bringing up why my signature was forged on a "renewal" contract and never got an answer to that. The gym owners are shady and want premium prices for that rinky dink gym. Save your money and go to Legends!

I was a member of Fitco for seven plus years, and it is with genuine disappointment that I feel compelled to share my experience. Over the years, I valued the convenience and facilities, but recent interactions with management have left me frustrated and concerned. Despite having my contract terminated in November 2024, I was later informed that I still owed payments—communications that were unclear and inconsistent. Attempts to clarify the situation were met with conflicting statements, leaving me feeling misled and unreasonably pressured.

It is unfortunate that an organization I trusted for so long has handled this matter in a way that does not reflect the professionalism or respect that long-term members deserve. I hope this feedback encourages the gym to improve transparency and communication so that future members are not put in a similar position.

My reply to the owner below.
Stay far away from this gym. The owner will entice you to sign up, but once you do, be warned you will not be able to cancel your membership without a nightmare.

My husband and I had a joint account. When I went to cancel, staff told me only one of us needed to come in to cancel the account. When I went in, they suddenly claimed it was under my husband’s name and I was “just added.” That’s not what we signed for, but fine I followed their instructions anyway.

On August 4th, I submitted the 30-day cancellation notice by email (as allowed in the contract). Then, on August 6th, my husband received an email saying he supposedly requested a 60-day cancellation something he never did. The staff admitted they were instructed by the owner himself to “redo” the cancellation because it’s a month-to-month membership.

When I requested the contract, I confirmed in writing that only 30 days’ notice is required for open-ended accounts like ours. Despite this, the gym is still charging $40 every two weeks, long past the 30 days.

The owner refuses to answer calls, emails, or acknowledge the cancellation even though it’s clearly in the contract and already accepted in writing.

Bottom line: This place is dishonest, unprofessional, and predatory. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT SIGN UP. You have been warned.

It’s ridiculous that you’re trying to say I’m “misinforming the public” when all I’ve done is share what you and your staff told me. At sign-up, nothing about cancellations or an “open-ended clause” was ever explained. When I went to cancel, I was told 30 days, which I agreed to, and only after that did you conveniently change it to 60 days. That’s not a misunderstanding that’s shady.

Don’t try to twist this as me not understanding. What’s really happening is your staff keeps changing the rules after the fact, and then you accuse customers of lying when they call it out.

Also, cancel my account immediately and stop charging my bank. The fact that I even have to put this in a review to be taken seriously says everything people need to know about how you run.

Had to come back and redo my review and the reasons why, I had initially talked about how crowded the gym is and how many potential hazards that could lead to injury it had, but they have been moving things and replied to my initial review which shows they care! However I did not give them a full 5 because some of the hazards are still there not to mention some of the equipment that used to be in the back room they have taken out so now it’s more work to use for the people that use it and more time consuming which isn’t good when you’re on a tight schedule! However the do appreciate them trying and taking the profanity off their board in the back room!

The facility is nice. Staff has not been helpful. I pay for the 24 hour access. The door doesn't let me in and they refuse to help me. They told me I need to just come in during normal hours. I still pay for the 24 hour access.
Thank you for the response. I will be changing gyms to the Destiny down the street. So no need to worry about fixing it at this point. I am able to access the location in WR until my account closes at the end of the month.

FitCo is a fantastic gym for anyone in the area especially if you reside around the south Macon or Byron area. It's open 24 hours a day clean, safe, and the staff is very friendly.

FitCo also has personal training classes each month such as Zumba and other classes for those interested. FitCo maintains updated equipment. I would recommend bringing your own water there isn't any free water on the gym floor.

I’m honestly very self conscious when I workout around other people. On one particular day, I came in to work out and there was a lot of people inside of the gym. The desk attendant Rashaun noticed my nervousness and came over to talk to me. He really made my day by helping out my social anxiety in that moment. He really is an amazing employee. I've been a member here four years now, it's been well kept until the recent change of hands.
- the gym has zero cell service prior to the new owners we was able to use the wifi not anymore.
- repairs have been non existant. One of the leg machines was down a month or two just to have a pad replace or recovered. I recently noticed another leg machine needs the same piece it was wrapped with a shoulder pad that really did nothing, then someone slid the old pad back on that flops around. One of the main things I use is the sauna. It's been down nearly two months or more "waiting on parts" is what I was told.
- cleanliness men's locker room has Cobb webs in the ceiling, bathrooms aren't clean. Paper towels are never on the tables by the cable machines to wipe equipment down with. I've notice to there isn't many or any towels at all anymore to wipe the equipment down with either. Sometimes they just need to folded the girls at the desk just sit there and kick it. The younger guy had to fold some one day just so there would be some.
-The other old crew did a great job staying on top of things and keeping the gym straight and picked up. the people there now don't seem to care much at all. I've been a member here four years and usually work out a min of 4 days a week. I've went to other gyms and came back due to friends I've made there it's always felt like family most have left to go somewhere else. I really hope things get back to how it was.

Update: Unfortunately, the old owners left. Those owners took care of the customers and employees. In turn we took care of them. The newest owners took their place and its starting to look like it's going downhill due to that. The newest owners cut many of the old employees. In my opinion that was a mistake as the old employees cared about the gym and actually took care of everybody. I'm not saying the new employees dont care about the gym. In fact, the new employees want it to work, but the way the old employees were done honestly left a sour patch in my mouth. That alone is not the only reason I changed my review from a 5 star to a 1 star review. It just seems like a number of things have changed for the worse. I would go into detail buuuut, I got better things to do atm, like find a new gym. Instead, heres a list:

- Gym stays a little dirtier, old staff cleaned sacrilegiously.

- Atmosphere of the gym changed.

- Swapped from the cleaning chemicals they were using to a chemical that just smells like vinegar.

- paying for a membership that had two tanning beds, they recently got rid of one. Then, I was told that our membership could go up on a different day before that tanning bed was sold, even though no new equipment was brought in. This information was given to us while the district manager was sitting right there. This second detail tells me everything I need to know about the current predicament.

There's probably some other stuff I'm not thinking of atm, but that's just of the top of my head.

This Gym is more than a Gym they are my second family. They have helped really succeed my training goals and still working on getting stronger. Just wanted to check them out, it's a nice clean gym a little small for my liking. There is a sauna, shower, and 3D body measuring matching, and a group fitness areas. Prices are high then my current membership around $35 for 24hr access, if I remember correctly. But the owner is a nice young lady and she took the time to show me around.

Stating with with the equipment: outdated (but not old school gym style, just old stuff), missing locking pins, and rusty; dumbbells are missing outer rubber cover making it straight iron that can easily cut skin

The staff sits all day on their phones while the gym is dirty and making everyone listen to high school breakup songs which makes the environment depressing and not motivating whatsoever.

Not to mention their brand new renovated cardio room, where you can only use the equipment if you pay to have a fitness class with one of their trainers.

Really easy to sign up, but impossible to cancel the membership unless the remainder of the contract is paid out (most gyms only have a cancellation fee that equals one month), and even when the yearly contract ends, it still has to go to a month-by-month contract before canceling.

DO NOT wasted your time and money on this gym, there are many others in the local area for the same price or cheaper that actually offers a good environment for the members and one that they can use all the equipment available.

Unknowledgeable staff. Expect to repeat the same request more than once with more than one person and get false or conflicting information each time. Make sure to call and confirm any changes they claim are made- it’s likely they did not do it the first time and you’ll need to follow up 🙄 ^^ do not expect any consideration for your health even amidst a global pandemic. Contracts cannot be cancelled but paid in full if you wish to cancel- a term one happily agrees with when signing up, PRIOR to COVID - expect no exceptions for after.

I was interested in getting information about signing up and a personal trainer. I stopped by this morning around 10am. . . .
#1. I wasn't a member so I didn't have a key to get in. . no one was at the desk so I stood at the door. Thankfully, a sweet young lady stoped her workout to let me in.
#2. There wasn't anything posted about the specials.
#3. I couldn't find anyone that worked there to assist me. (I walked all around looking for help).
#4. I called the business number and no one answered. I seen her come in the building while I was waiting. And that was it. Didn't see her again.

I waited 30mins. No one ever came to the desk to help me. There was no sign posted. Poor customer service. No one answered the phone. No guidance. Me and my 6 colleagues had to sign up else where.
