Welcome to Georgia Fitness of Buford, your family-friendly and certified fitness center in Buford, GA. We are a locally owned and operated health club under new ownership and management as of 03-14-2020 and we strive to meet all members and guests needs with their individual fitness goals. Our staff and management have many years of experience in the fitness and customer service industries with many credentialed certifications.

Predatory and borderline criminal behavior- my wife has made several attempts to cancel her membership from out of state, submitted in writing, online, and over the phone- everyone she has spoken to claims they don’t have the authority to cancel, and the managers with authority are “never available” when anyone calls to cancel. Messages are never returned and cancellation forms are not acknowledged.

I canceled my memberships before the pandemics happened. Now that they have reopened ,they somehow don’t remember getting My cancellation form . And are trying to charges me for 3 months worth of membership . My fiancé gave them another form on the 5th of June because they weren’t open for three months and they said that this is proof we never gave them a form . Long story short these people will scam you out of money and I DO NOT recommend this gym!

Unfortunately there is nothing good I can say about this gym or my experience. Even before the pandemic the club had inadequate wipes to keep the equipment clean.
Apparently they assume you are signing a lifetime contract because even after dropping out, in writing, it is a battle to get them to stop charging for your membership. I finally had to get the credit card company to stop any payments.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This gym has shut down due to COVID-19, YET they have tried continuously to charge us for the gym membership, including additional fees! Sorry but if the gym is closed, it’s obvious I shouldn’t be charged. Seems like they’re trying to steal people’s money! And during a time like this?! Greatly disappointing.

So at first this gym seemed like a good idea up until COVID-19 became a pandemic. Initially they refused to acknowledge that it was an issue. Then, they closed down the gym without notifying anyone (after disregarding the pandemic) AND charged us for the next month AFTER closure. We thought it was over with that, but the next month they charged us money AGAIN after the gym had been closed for over a month. Safe to say, if you want to be screwed over then definitely go to this gym.

So today was my first day and JARED was great in helping me set up everything and really took time to answer my questions. He was not over selling the place to me but instead was really asking what I wanted. He hooked me up with a wonderful personal trainer named Dre. Never having had a trainer before and just having a baby 3 1/2 months ago I was nervous- he eased me into the workouts and really pressed me to do my best while he encouraged me at the same time. I have never worked out so hard in my life- it was great! So far I have to say I really like this place and the people!

Cancelled my membership to this gym in Oct of last year and had to go in 2-3 times since I could never get anyone on the phone to help. I paid the cancellation fee and was told my membership was cancelled. STILL got charged twice even after paying all of the fees. I have not heard anything from this gym since Nov 2018 and last week they charged my credit card.....after 8 months....if you go to this gym, you will keep getting charged even though it was cancelled!

Hate to have to write a bad review but I would strongly recommend not going to this gym. The facilities are pretty good but the customer service is terrible. I had all kinds of billing issues at the other location due to them somehow charging me for multiple memberships yearly fees the same day but still stayed after the new owner Charles worked it all out, but after the Buford location (closer to my new house) changed its hours I had to cancel my membership and was given a copy of my cancellation that clearly states you will be charged any future payments due in the next 30 days as of 04/13/2019 but I got charged May 24 and again June 24! 73 days later! When I went to the gym to talk about why, the employees told me only Mark could take care of it, and after going 3 days in a row At the time they said he would be there he finally called me the next day and said that my agreement ends in June and I could cancel after then! Why would they not have told me that in the first place when I cancelled and even asked if there was a fee and they said no?! I have a copy of my cancellation form that THEY gave me that said I wouldn’t be charged after May 13 but they still charged me for 2 months after that! I’m not one to care about the $40 but the principal of the matter is they have bad customer service and try to blame problems on others when you want to get something fixed.

Just cancelled my membership. My bank issued a new card, as banks will do from time to time, and when I scanned my membership card it showed that I was passed due this last month due to them having the outdated card on file. No problem, let's get the new one on file and all will be well..right?

Wrong, I was told there was a $15 service fee because my card was declined. I have been a customer for about a year and have never not paid my monthly $15 membership fee. I asked that the service fee be waived due to this innocent oversight. I was told I should have known that I needed to update my card and he would not waive the fee. I told him that if the fee was not waived I would take my business elsewhere. Niama agreed and cancelled my account further telling me that I had to pay the now $30 or it would go as a negative credit report. I paid the $30 and cancelled my membership.

I have never seen a General Manager with so little customer service knowledge. Why burn a long time customer for a $15 charge that could have been easily waived based on this circumstance. I work around the corner and was planning on being a member for many years to come...until today.

There is another gym right down the road and I am going to pay them a membership fee for many years to come.

Oh and when I ask Niamia for a business card or to write his name down he, of course, refused.

No wonder there is nobody in the gym. Ya'll run them all off

To the owner WHAT IS THE NAME of the gym???????? Came to try out the gym,but was NOT IMPRESSED. Trying hard to pull my wife from coming to this gym but she has been a member for the last five years, she saids the only thing that keeps her is ZUMBA!!!!! So unless Zumba is your thing this is not the gym for you. Energy sports & fitness OR Georgia Fitness or what ever it’s called now,it’s been a year or more since the new management took over and it’s supposed to be Georgia Fitness.But the Business signs and doors still say Energy sports & Fitness calles the gym and a member stated that they are one.

The 24 hr door never works if you are going for this service. So if you are a person that likes to workout before or after hours do not join. The staff will tell you they will leave the door unlock but are never on the same page. Whats even worse is they can not afford to get a new door. I don’t understand. Your customers should come 1st and all we get are excuses and “ I’m sorry”. Why not take the 24hr access away and just have regular hours???

Do not give these people access to your bank account information or any of your money for that matter. They do not care about you, the client.

I was stuck as a member of this gym when the Buford BodyPlex suddenly shut their doors a few years ago and transferred all their members (without their permission) to this facility. I reluctantly continued going here because I liked the fitness instructors, but the cramped spin room was so uncomfortable that I finally left. I had heard they continue to charge your account after you leave and sure enough, they did. I disputed the charge with my bank and was able to get my money back.

Fast forward and I made the stupid mistake of letting a friend talk me into returning to this gym because I wasn't happy with any other facilities in this area. This time around, rooms were not only cramped for classes, but the old ladies that used to be nice had turned into venomous evil women who freaked out if you got in their spot. They were nasty and mean to anyone who was not in their little circle of workout friends and it made for a very uncomfortable workout experience.

In the meantime, I was moving and this gym was inconvenient for me to go to especially for such a miserable experience once I was there. So I mailed in my cancellation letter, because I knew that telling them wasn't going to be legal proof that I had cancelled my membership. It would be their word against mine and they could play the games of "the manager isn't here and you have to cancel directly with him." I even state in the letter that they do not have the authority to charge my account and an attempted charge will be disputed by my bank. Well we all know they did actually attempt to charge my account and my bank denied them.

So for the last two weeks I've been having ABC Financial calling me several times a day to get a new card and pay my membership fees. I explained to the lady I spoke to (who was very nice, by the way) that I had cancelled my membership in writing. Of course there was no record of that in my file. I asked if I could just email the letter to her directly, but she said that if it was a different gym I could. BUT with this gym, they handle their own cancellations. So even the finance company that charges your bank and credit card companies can't stop attempting to charge your account because this gym has it set up so they can play games and pretend they didn't receive your letter. I know for a fact it was delivered to their facility because I not only mailed it, but I dropped another copy off in person.

Luckily, my bank will not allow this company to charge my account anymore because they honored the letter I sent to them disputing the charge.

The other thing is that the picture of this gym on Groupon is fraudulent. It is NOT this gym and they are representing that it is. There isn't room to move like that in their "closet" of a spin room.

UPDATE: After posting this I sent an email to the gym as well as several customer support managers at ABC Financial and attached my original cancellation letter. One of the supervisors at ABC Financial reached out to the gym on my behalf and after two more emails I have been told my membership has been cancelled. We'll see if they actually follow through and I'll update. Hopefully this helps any clients who are still getting the runaround.

UPDATE 2: My membership was cancelled as promised. So to anyone wanting to cancel, email ABC Financial directly for help.

Great self service gym. Bring your own paper towels, toilet paper, soap, and a coat hanger to let yourself in...the after hours door rarely works. Oh...and your own music, they think it's the club and play garbage. Great place to work, the employees frequently nap at the front desk, managment is usually on the phone or hitting on the female guests...including my wife. (She is pretty hot). I actually love the gym, the staff leaves a lot to be desired. The management is terrible. Members don't pick up after themselves, and employees don't re rack weights. The early morning members clean the showers and pick up trash and weights left from the night before.

Water fountain didn’t work for months, men’s toilet doesn’t work or over flows, 20% of workout machines don’t work right and/or have tears on arm rest (putting duck tape on tears is not fixing them) and they play rap music nonstop dropping F bombs, etc. Nobody working there seems to care.

WORST MANAGEMENT EVER! And after seeing all the other bad reviews, I'm really mad at myself for not checking it before I signed up with them. I started my membership in January this year and keep having trouble with them ever since. Their staff keeps changing since they quit all the time. I signed up for a personal trainer additionally to my membership, but had to cancel that due to health issues. I called in ahead and told the manager Juan about it and all he said was, that he has to go to a meeting and will call me back. Of course he didn't. Also not the other times his staff told me he wasn't there, but will call me back. Two weeks later they charged my credit card again. Nobody felt responsible and I was just told again they would call me back, which they didn't. After calling in again and being very mad, the manager was suddently available and told me he will take care of it and call me the next day. Guess what?! He didn't! Called in today again....no manager is available and and was told the lie, that they don't have a phone number to reach them at. Got a call later, that the manager wants my e-mail address to write me. Lets me know that they have a chance to reach the management and that customers are not even important enough to give them a call, but rather to write them an e-mail. I saw they responded to most of the bad reviews by telling the customers to call them. But that's exactly the problem in the first place. They know that they screw their customers and intentionally don't want to deal with them afterwards.

UPDATE 07/18: To this date nobody from this company has ever gotten back with me, despite their response on here stating that they will. Not that I ever expected them to really keep their word and try. But it shows you that they just write it here on google to look better, but don't really have the intention to clarify anything with their customers.

I’m a former employee of this gym and I don’t recommend this gym to anyone. I have been trying to get my paycheck for about 3 months and have been getting the run around over 450 dollars. I feel as if this company is in major trouble. A lot of former employees have been calling me and notifying me of the same situation and it’s not a good business look. I’ve tried to contact the owner Mark Montgomery and even contacted others that handle the company and it’s just been nothing but lies and excuses. The sauna is always broke and everything that goes wrong with this location they blame old staff for it which is not the case.

Bad was my monthly payment of $10.00. with out any notification to me they changed my monthly payment to $19.00, I then talked to Kevin and he told me to sign a less expensive payment of $16.00 a month. this was on the 12/16/2017 but it not so true. they kept Charging me the $19.00, they kept saying that, that account was cancelled. and on up to today 3/22/18 they keep taking $19.99 and $16.00. Leo (Gm) and Alejandra (manager), only say that they don't know why they keep charging us that amount.

This place is awful. They actually stole my gym bag and cloths out of my locker! Yes, I swear. I went into the locker room and there was a guy going through peoples lockers and placing they're belongings into trash bags. I confronted him and then discovered he had stole my cloths and bag. I immediately went to the front desk and confronted some kid that said he had give the guy permission to steal everyone's belongings and place them in trash bags and leave them at the front desk! No announcement or anything. Never again. I'm so done with this place. Ever since these clowns have taken over it's become a dump run by thieves. If there's one thing I can't stand it's a thieve. Good by crooks!

Poorly maintained equipment, ill educated personnel, and a disgustingly kept facility were my reasons for terminating my contract after my first visit. I purchased on Groupon without reviewing or first visiting the facility. I’ve learned my lesson, never purchase without first seeing what you’re purchasing. I went in to the club to cancel when was told that I needed to email them in order to cancel. I was quickly ignored after being handed a card. I stood there emailing the email on the card. Alejandra Maldonado, Operations Manager was who I had to deal with unfortunately. Shortly later I was emailed back that my request to cancel would be sent to corporate. Corporate agreed to cancel my contact in 30days and that I would be liable for any charges during that time. I explained that there’s a 7day clause that allows me to terminate my contract immediately in this contact. She then stated that I would have to sign in club to cancel. This just goes to show how ill educated the personnel is. Very upset at this point for having to run around trying to cancel because I will not pay for their disgusting facility. I went into more detail regarding my first visit. How I had to clean the tanning bed and remove dust as well as trash from the room. There was no trash can in the room either. In an email she stated that the trash cans were removed due to other members urinating in them.

Dingy, old, malfunctioning equipment, accompanied by very rude and unhelpful staff make for the perfect storm of an awful gym. Beware of any "introductory offers" made by deceitful staff members; they will not be honored and your card will be continually charged for months and months. Children's room is dirty and often unsupervised. Anyone could walk in and pick up your children, they do not check IDs or even bother ask for proof of identification. Tanning beds are DISGUSTING and broken regularly. The fridge in the lobby used for client's water bottles has months old expired yogurt scattered about. Do yourself a favor, pay $10 more a month and go to a gym that actually treats it's members like humans.

Really poor cancellation policy. I moved out of state and agree to pay until my one year contract was finished. But I next month after my contract was finished they kept taking money out of my checking account, not only what they normally took out but also something EXTRA! The gym was decent, basic but adequate. The price was low. The childcare option was one of the reasons I signed up, but it was low quality. There was not enough staff and they did not seem to have experience interacting with children. Nor did they monitor the children's safety very well. I left the gym due to a high risk pregnancy and bed rest. Despite being on bed rest under doctor's orders, I was still required to come in to the gym to ensure my membership was cancelled. Customer service is definitely non-existent at this place.

Poor cancellation policy. I understand the need to have my signature when wishing to cancel my membership, however this is 2017 and i should be able to do that via E-sign or fax...
I moved far away and wont be able to make it in to sign my paperwork anytime soon. I was also told that i could not "suspend" my membership until i could come in and sign...

I guess this is just their way of squeezing extra monthly dues from me even though i am unable to use their facility and equipment....

There are no classes for working people all the good group classes are between 9:30-5:30. So if you work, you can't get there.😒

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Cancelled my membership right after BodyPlex moved and they continued to charge me month after month, telling me that I never cancelled. After some investigation Cheyenne left me a voicemail ADMITTING that they were wrong and that I should've never been charged after I cancelled on September 12th. Since then I haven't been able to reach her so I called today to follow up and now they're telling me I owe them money?! SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!

Be aware they take money out of your account, even if you end it. RIP OFF I signed up to this gym. I was told if I moved more than 15 miles I could end my membership with no problem and get my money back. OHHHHHHH the front desk lady was super rude. She stated who ever helped me that day they told me wrong. So she ended my membership that cost me $49.99. I ended the membership 3 months ago, they are still taking money out of my account. This has cost me $90.00 for membership plus $49.99 to cancel and today they have taken $30.00 out of my account. RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to love the Zumba class! Dark with the neon party lights going, instructor had a stage so u could follow her very easily. Now- it's bright, no neon party lights and the instructor is on the floor w everyone, if ur not in the front u can't see her!

Not the gym I signed up for. BodyPlex did a bait and switch and I ended up with a much smaller, much more crowded gym, called Energy Fitness in Buford. Gym is way too small for the amount of people they shove in there. Daycare is too crowded and equipment is nothing special. They are refusing to let people cancel after they changed locations and features. Pathetic. The owners are crooks and the GM, Jason P. had a couple too many dumbbells dropped on his head.

Not impressed with this new BodyPlex location. The gym is much smaller, appears to be overcrowded and . the locker room sux. The only plus is the new 24 hour access.
