Great Oaks Yoga Studio is truly a sanctuary, and thatโ€™s all thanks to Kelly, the incredible owner and heart behind it all. From the moment you walk in, you feel the warmth, care, and passion that Kelly brings to the space.

Kelly is not only a highly skilled and knowledgeable instructor, but she also brings an authenticity and presence that is rare to find. Her classes are thoughtfully designed with variations of the poses for those who need something less strenuous.

What really sets Kelly apart is her genuine love for what she does and the people she serves. Great Oaks Yoga is more than just a studio; itโ€™s a community, and Kelly is the soul of it.

As a member whoโ€™s attended more that 450 classes since joining in 2022, Iโ€™d like to say how much I enjoy the classes at this warm, accessible and extremely welcoming studio. I have done yoga intermittently for some years and experienced several different studios, and have never felt more comfortable, encouraged( but not pushed) and enthusiastic about yoga. The owners, both Ann and now Kelly are skilled, kind and thoughtful people, as are all the instructors. Everyone is urged to do whatโ€™s best for their body.

There's a reason Great Oak Yoga is shortened to "G.O." ... it's because you need to GO to this place! I have been a patron here for over a year now, participating in various yoga classes with a handful of the instructors. Loved every bit of it. Safety is a priority here, with instructors guiding and assisting in exercise alterations to accommodate all bodies as needed. There is no feeling of judgement or competition when I practice here, it is safe.

GO does more than yoga too! Their doors have been opened to individuals of the Richmond Hill community offering alternative health and well-being classes/workshops. Sound baths, silent meditations, meditation with monks, and group breathwork are just a few of the other offerings you can find here. The community here is always warm and welcoming; I have met individuals that drive from: Ft. Stewart, Midway, RH, Pooler, and Savannah. Goes to show people are willing to travel if they think that journey will be worth it.

(The owner's response below showcases the lack of operational knowledge nor how extensive the history is with that company. Also Kelly was a horrible teacher, she couldn't ever remember her left from her right or down from up. She did teach me that I had to listen to how stupid some of the teachers are since she caused my first injury by improperly transitioning from a side angle to a triangle pose also zero actual response to what transpired)

I am going to pop the bad review cherry of Great Oak Yoga. Honestly it is more deserving beyond this current owner, but she made me want to write it. I have been going to the several iterations of this studio dating back to it being Awakening Yoga, through this Kelly, Ann, of Great Oak and the Kelly and I forget the original owner of Awakening's name. So, 4 owners.

Typically, and especially evening weekday classes have always proved difficult to attend if you are not a stay-at-home parent due to traffic. There have been numerous times in the past that anything from volume to a car accident has made it hard to get there on time. Generally, these are the only classes I preregister for. So, I registered for this class about 15 minutes before. It looked like I would be there about 5 minutes before class. But instead, I had to wait 5 light cycles at 144 and 17. I walked up to the door and pulled the handle at 5:46 1 minute after start. Which btw anyone's watch can be off by. It was locked. The owner was the instructor for this class. She failed to even know there was another student coming. I messaged and sat outside for 15 minutes hoping she might see on her phone since I didn't want to disturb the class.

I had messaged them discussing this. I told her this isn't the way the "legacy" teachers do it and that they wait a few before locking the door. She took that as an insult because she obviously doesn't understand that "legacy" is the common terminology for when a business is purchased and the original staff are retained.

I also then told her how I was dissatisfied that I had to purchase a new Cork mat since they decided to donate it to another student after I was asked if I was coming back without notice. I had them holding it after I was devastatingly injured in their class (The least they could do was hold it). I got a bucket handle meniscus tear which caused me to get a meniscus transplant and a MACI cartilage graft on my femur. Destroyed my running career, and I have lived in pain since January of 2023. But I didn't hold them accountable for it. This Studio and the legacy have been and always will be run like a hobby.

Something else that has bothered me for the last 7-8 years is they ended any real hands-on adjustments and pushing your limits in a pose.

I spoke with the Mairi and told her to please donate my remaining classes to another student as I will not return until they get another new owner which seems to be every 2-3 years.

Love , love , love this place!!! I had no experience prior to joining the studio. The teachers, atmosphere and others in the classes helped me feel comfortable. The teachers helped correct my form when needed and I was so thankful and felt cared for. This studio has changed my life. It has really helped in my healing journey and now I could not imagine life without it. I feel safe and a sense of peace and love for myself with every class. I highly appreciate and recommend ๐Ÿฉทโ˜ฎ๏ธ๐ŸคŸ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ
