This is a wonderful place to go to workout and be with people with the same goal, the staff are friendly, kind and there to help in anyway. There are many workout classes to choose from throughout the week and they are constantly adding more, I love coming here for coffee, ha ha

The YMCA I know is much different today than what it was. The people who scheduled the classes literally don't pay attention of what they are doing or flatly don't care in my opinion, their actions can be very disruptive to the person who looks forward to the classes they don't schedule.

The Tull-Gwinnett Family YMCA is a clean, well-maintained facility with a wide range of amenities. It’s very family-friendly, and I especially appreciate the child play area where you can safely leave your kids while you work out. They also offer a great selection of fitness classes that are included with membership, which is a huge bonus. Overall, the YMCA truly supports families in building a healthy and active lifestyle. I highly recommend it!

I thought the YMCA represents the community along with other senior citizens and myself formed relationships to keep one another motivated to exercise in our senior years. To have the YMCA pull the rug from beneath our feet refusing to honor the silver sneaker program for seniors was definitely disappointing disgraceful and disgusting

I love the wide variety of classes offered - there is truly something for everyone and the coaches are friendly and encouraging. The cardio and weight rooms are top of the line too, with a ton of great quality equipment. Even at peak hours, you will always find a spot. The gym was recently renovated so there are brand new locker rooms, showers, sauna, and steam room, and I see staff around cleaning frequently. 10/10

Today 08/08/2025 hrs 16:50 p.m. The 2 person at the front desk (males both) were terrible. They had no attitude towards giving us information about the installations or classes, nothing. They just told us the brochures are on the wall with all the information you can read and find out in there. Terrible service. Lack of Customer Service!. They don't care about signing up new family members or making a good impression.

I joined the Gwinnett Family YMCA a few months ago because the facility looked great, recently renovated and in a convenient location.

Unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing. I pay over $122 a month for a family membership that I’ve barely used, mostly due to a busy schedule. I usually visit after work hours on weekdays or occasionally on weekends. I had also signed up with hopes of enrolling my young daughters in swim lessons and possibly summer camps, but I’ve had to reconsider after several frustrating experiences.

From day one, things started off poorly. When I first signed up on a Saturday around noon, the front desk staff, particularly a young woman, handled the process very unprofessionally. They entered my name, address, and email completely wrong, despite having my driver’s license and the completed paperwork right in front of them.

This caused a major issue: I needed accurate payment receipts to get reimbursed by my employer, but my reimbursement was denied for two months due to the incorrect personal information they entered into the system.

It took a month and another trip to the YMCA before someone else at the front desk finally corrected the errors.

Another concern: the outdoor pool isn’t well-maintained. Even though there are plenty of staff around, the pool was dirty when I took my daughters there, and unfortunately, both of them got sick afterward.

That was the final straw. I went back to cancel my membership in early July around 7 PM on a weekday. I filled out the cancellation form, and when I asked if anything else was needed, the staff member (a young man) assured me the process was complete on my end and that I’d receive a confirmation email. I never got that email, and now I see that I’ve been charged again for August. It’s frustrating and feels disorganized.

When I signed up, I’ve also asked about various programs what they offer, and most of the time the staff don’t seem to know much. They just direct you to the website or hand out brochures.

Most of my interactions have been during after-hours and weekends, and unfortunately, the customer service during those times has been consistently lacking.

The YMCA has a lot of potential, great facilities and a nice location, but they really need to invest in properly training their front desk staff. Clear communication, basic attention to detail, and professionalism go a long way, and sadly, those are all areas where my experience has fallen short.

Over a decade with LA Fitness and never a problem. I’m back now, lesson learned after wasting time and money at the YMCA.

The Y was recently renovated. It is better than before. They have new showers, tiles, floors, swimming pool is better. We now have more space to have a Pilates class each week and not be cramped in a storage space. I love what they have done. It is worth the value being a member and having options for different classes, days and times to choose that best fit your schedule and lifestyle.

I’m an early bird. It’s not unusual for me to get there at six or 6:30 in the morning and be there till 930 or 1030 depending on what aqua classes are offered the wellness coaches are very friendly and I’ve always been helpful the ones at the front desk are also very friendly, especially that early in the morning And Randy the lifeguard he is hilarious. I think he knows everybody that comes in the wire has become my community so to speak I look forward to seeing the different people. I may not know their names, but I recognize faces is friendly faces and smiles. It’s very positive place to be.

I have been harassed at the YMCA By an employee (Ashley) Because I came into the building, but I just going using the restroom when I was there on a Guest pass no reason why I was being harassed today asking me “what’s up, what’s up”. False advertisement, find another place to work out. Website lists $4 for July with the “joining fee” ($70) crossed out (what is a joining fee anyway?). Turns out the “joining fee” is $4 and you still pay the monthly rate ($67). Dishonesty never suits a business well.

YMCA Summer Camp Registration Experience

I recently completed an application to enroll my child in the YMCA summer camp and wanted to share some feedback about the registration and payment process.

After submitting the application, I approached the front desk to make a payment using a card different from the one on file. The staff member informed me that the Registrar would need to process the payment and assured me I would receive a call before anything was charged, allowing me to provide the correct card.

Unfortunately, I never received a call. Instead, I got an email receipt an hour later showing that the charge was made to the card I had specifically stated I wouldn’t be using. I had to call the YMCA myself to address the issue and was transferred to the Registrar, Ms. Sherry. She was not apologetic and implied that the responsibility was mine for not ensuring the message was passed along—though I had clearly communicated it to the front desk.

The application does give two options: to pay in full or to provide a card for automatic draft. I selected the option to pay in full but did not enter card information for drafting. Despite this, Ms. Sherry accessed my membership account, used the card I had flagged not to use, and charged an amount that was more than expected.

This situation caused my account to go into the negative, and I had to contact my bank for assistance since a refund could not be issued directly. I feel strongly that those in charge of registration and payments should be more accessible and in communication with the front desk team to avoid these types of issues. It’s frustrating when front desk staff aren’t equipped to help and you’re left emailing back and forth for answers to what should be simple questions.

I hope this feedback encourages a review of the communication process between departments and leads to a more coordinated and responsive experience for families going forward.

The front desk staff members present on Saturday, July 6, 2024, around 12 pm were not professional. I visited with a family member(a member at the YMCA), and military family from out of state, to get passes to swim in the outdoor pool. The young teen staff members informed us that guests are no longer allowed on weekends. We explained that this was incorrect and that my family member had been a member for years. They responded by rolling their eyes and laughing amongst themselves. They made no effort to seek accurate information. When we asked to speak with a manager, we were informed that guests are indeed allowed on weekends by the manager. No one apologized for the incorrect information given to us. I am highly disappointed with this YMCA and the front desk staff.

Some staff are very nice and polite, but there are some that’s on a really big power trip. Sunday my family and I were in the outdoor pool. Myself, my husband and mother-in-law was enjoying the water when a very rude staff member who was a life guard approached our two boys that are 13 and 14 and told them that they couldn’t go under water and hold there breath, like huh. She was very rude and I didn’t like the fact she was speaking to our children as though we (the parents) were not there. ATTENTION ALL PARENTS BECAREFUL WITH LETTING YOUR TEENAGERS GO ALONE SOME OF THE STAFF MEMBERS ARE VERY RUDE AND DAMANDING. 5 stars for the other nice staff members.

I came to this YMCA a few times and after my first few interactions I seriously wondered how does this organization stay afloat in our community. The first time I came to take my 2-year-old swimming, I was welcomed by a young lady who very obviously did not want us there. When I asked her for short-term membership she only quoted me the family plan and never told me that I could do membership just for myself. I only found out later that day after speaking to friends who are a part of the YMCA. However my faith in this organization was restored after my interactions with a person at the front of the desk, I believe his name is Richard Hatchette. He was kind, full of mercy and helped me to get the services I needed. I'm giving these 5 stars for him.

My experiences at the Tull Y have been great! Here are a few thoughts and observations.
1. Community engagement
2. Helpful, friendly staff
3. Emphasis on water safety - Swimming classes for the entire family
4. Youth leadership and skills development classes
5. Senior development classes and Senior-friendly facilities
6. Facilities renovation and modernization increases commitment to community excellence and engagement with members
7. Atlanta Metro- area Y access is a Huge benefit!
8. Love it! Can't get enough of it. So much better than a health club...it's a place to meet, develop, mentor, gain a since of community and grow with Gwinnett neighbors.

I came in today to get a workout. When I entered, I saw that there wasn’t anyone at the desk, so I waited. Then one of the staff members came. I scanned my card, and before I got a word out, the staff member said rudely, snappy. You’re not a member. Where did you get that card?! I told The staff member I was nationwide, so the staff member told me I needed to mention that next time and a snappy attitude. The staff member's name is Sherry Young. I’m unsure if I got her first name right, but her last name is Young. I didn’t appreciate her attitude her energy towards me at all. She needs to do some basic training or just doesn't need work here if she has an attitude.

A man wearing a salmon colored hoodie used horrible profanity at a mother of a player on the other team at a BB game of 8 year old children today, Feb.10. Totally inexcusable! The mother was calmly expressing a concern she had to the opposing coach and that seemed to upset hoodie man. The hoodie man's behavior (and his wife in recording it) was so unacceptable. He continued to berate her and should have been asked to leave by the director. He should not be permitted to return if he can't act like a decent human being. People like him can ruin the game.

Their customer service is the worst. I had multiple issues with them this summer, including being registered for a wrong swimming class and having to jump through hoops for my refund (don't have it yet) even though it was their mistake. They prohibited my children from using the playground because of their day camp (the other Y's let them in just fine). The facility is outdated and broken down. They are saying their sauna is broken, but one of their employees told me that it is a lie. Apparently, they just don't want to put an employee there as they are required. They make arbitrary rules that don't make sense and force them on you while charging you an arm and a leg for the membership, and they never apologize for their mistakes. The front desk told me that he shouldn't apologize for their mistake because it was the manager who made it, and their manager said that he couldn't issue a refund because he had already turned off his computer. And forget about calling corporate. I have been waiting for their promised call back for months.

Long gone are the days YMCA was affordable and reasonable. I’m being charged $200 for canceling 2 weeks of camps 2-months in advance due to unforeseen circumstances. They just point to a policy they made themselves to justify not reimbursing our deposit. Even though they have plenty of time and will fill those spots anyway. All I asked was to transfer the deposit to the camp weeks I’m planning on keeping. Is that unreasonable or that hard to do? Just another way to extract more money from your pocket.

Update: I actually got charged for the full rate of all the camps weeks I cancelled 2 months in advance. I had to be on top of them for them to issue a refund.

They proudly say that your tuition helps them feed the homeless. In reality they receive such food from the county for free. And that’s the same food they provide kids during camp. Not even the counselors eat it and advised my kids they should bring their own food.

They also stated they go canoeing at Tribble Mill for their Traditional camp. However the canoes have been broken down for awhile and they just go to the playground at Alexander Park instead.

Their programs are 110% quality and super affordable! There is an activity for every fitness level at extremely convenient hours. Family friendly atmosphere and everything you'd expext from this well known organization....perhaps more! Thank you so much for providing such an impeccable service to my family and I.

Love it love it love it! I think this is already my second home. I love the classes! Adora, Mindy, Chery, they’re all great! The center care is awesome. My baby loves it! They also have extracurricular activities for the kids. The staff is very friendly, and the facility itself is great. I highly recommend YMCA.

Yo, awesome facility and staff, they got a cardio room, free weight room and workout machine room, a pool and sauna. Military members best place to use in case you go home on leave and your looking for an inexpensive gym that dosen't charge you an arm and a leg. Keep up the good work.

Great place to work out and the front house staff are great. Rita will always great you with a smile. The free weight area is in need of some updating but the Cybex machine room is in great shape. The cardio area is top notch.

Provides a well-run, challenging & competitive swim program at affordable costs. Without this program at our local YMCA, my children would not be able to participate in a year-round swim team or be able to continue developing their competitive swim skills in the off-season.

Great facilities and everything is kept up and clean. It is pretty expensive for a single person as compared to other GYMS in the area. Nice people and a great staff.

I have been a member at the Gwinnett YMCA for over 25 years. It is a great facility for families and the staff is wonderful. I particularly enjoy the indoor pool for lap swimming. I am currently within 50 miles of swimming 2000 miles in the last 16 years.
