I strongly advise against joining this gym. I was pressured into signing up for personal training sessions under the impression that I could cancel at any time. However, when I attempted to cancel, I was informed that I was locked into a contract. I had to engage in a lengthy and frustrating battle with corporate due to the misleading information provided by the staff and the overall lack of competence from both the management and corporate offices. This gym seems more interested in maximizing profit at the expense of its members, making the cancellation process unnecessarily difficult and stressful.

I love this place, but it could use some TLC. Broken machines, wipes running out, bathroom sinks not working…and they really need to steam clean or do something to sanitize their grass turf area-it feels slimy and smells like sweat.

Also, would love to see more free weights. One set is for personal training only, and the other is on the far side of the gym and often already taken. It can be really difficult to find a pair of dumbbells that are the same weight and more than 5lbs.

Just heard they’re closing down and I’m really upset. Big, fancy gym coming in to price gauge us.

This location is very well maintained. all equipment and pool are all above average LA fitness.
Although people are nice and willing to take turn... this is still one of busiest LA fitness that I ever been to, and the peak time is pretty long.
so if this bothers you, you might need to reconsider going here during the peak hour.

No staff wear masks. Yesterday in the 9:15 am spin class, the unmasked spin instructor sneezed out into the room. She did not cover her mouth with her arm or hand and she didn't sneeze into a towel, because she never brings a towel. Simple manners even pre covid aren't adhered to by staff or patrons.
Towel dispensers are often empty as are disinfectant dispensers. I've seen staff fill spray bottles with gojo hair and body shampoo instead of disinfectant multiple times at all Atlanta locations.
I rarely see any one wipe down equipment.
Even though I have asked staff multiple times not to put unwrapped rolls of toliet tissue on the nasty baby changing table, and told them how unsanitary that is, they continue to do this at the Brookhaven location.
Now,Dec 2022, there is not a single towel anywhere in this gym. If you want to wash and dry your hands, or wipe down equipment, I was just told to bring my own disinfectant and towels. Every towel dispenser in the gym is empty. And even though a publix and Costco are located in this shopping center, staff refuses to go buy any supplies and threatened to pull my membership for complaining about the lack of towels and unsanitary conditions.
April 2024: the floor in front of the ladles room stalls have over an inch of water on the floor, just as they did last Wednesday when a bunch of us regular ladies finished our body works class. When I ( and I was told by the manager, other ladies inquired why the floor was dangerously covered in water ,the staff response was to put down a wet floor sign and leave the floor covered in water.
As opposed to the responsible solution of using a squeegee to push the standing water down the drain and drying the floor. Several instructors have leaked that LA fitness corporate plans to close this location and make it a more upscale facility where they plan to charge an additional fee to use this location. It appears that since remodeling and rebranding is in the near future, no repairs or maintenance needs to be done. If you are considering joining the Brookhaven , Georgia location, I suggest you confirm ( and get in writing) that when/ if this location is rebranded, you will still be able to use the Brookhaven location for the fees you are told and contracted to pay.

The gym is consistently dirty. I would never dream of taking a shower here because of the grime. The paper towel dispensers are empty many times and the equipment is worn out and broken. Some of the staff are friendly and helpful others make you feel like you’re intruding on their day. The only positive I can say is that the location is convenient and the price is reasonable.

It has the standard stuff. Could really use solid boxes for step ups/jumps, or an actual machine for hip thrusts, which has become a staple compound movement. I see so many people wasting 10 minutes setting up a make-shift hip thrust with the limited equipment (an smushed foam cube or tire) available. It’s really a shame that just bc LA fitness is a commercial gym they won’t consider what members could really use.

The staff are most often very friendly and courteous.
They have a wide range of equipment and spaces.
Generally, the gym is usually clean.
Weights can be left unracked, and trash is sometimes left around the gym. The pool shower is rarely cleaned, and general maintenance around the club is never accomplished quickly and often left undone.
The coed pool and hot tub(especially) are often used by men in their underwear coming directly from workouts. The hot tub is often not working and can remain unrepaired for weeks.

I've worked out at this location for about 2 years now and I like how I can go in and get in a great workout with no hassle! Staff is always friendly. I brought a guest in, and Kwame was super helpful. I wouldn't recommend trying to lift using the squat racks at high volume times BUT if you're not looking to powerlift, you'll be just fine! The sauna is also a huge plus.

I’ve been a member for 7-8 years and this location has always been the most convenient to me and has the best selection of equipment for my workouts but that’s where anything positive ends.
It’s way too freaking hot inside, I’m surprised people haven’t fallen out from heat exhaustion upstairs where the cardio equipment is located. When it finally happens, I hope they sue the pants off LA Fitness.
The entire gym is filthy, smelly and gross. This issue is compounded by the fact that they inexplicably removed all the cleaning supplies, hand sanitizer and paper towels from throughout the gym and replaced them with a few pre-moistened wet wipe dispensers that are frequently empty.
People are CONSTANTLY trying to become influencers by performing some sort of bastardized exercises in front of their tripod cameras or posing incessantly for “progress” selfies. None of these people are particularly fit, have good form or any other visible qualification for them to be making workout content, so why do we have to endure their selfish invasion of our privacy?
The overall lack of gym etiquette at this location is astounding. People will take up a machine, sometimes 2 or more machines at a time, while they scroll on social media. This is a busy location and results in long waits for equipment and/or heated exchanges between customers.
I definitely cannot recommend this location.

The gym is fine, I really like the Yoga instructor.

However, we really got the membership largely for the pool but the pool is freezing! They have a swim class there for babies and toddlers and I cannot believe how those babies are tolerating it safely. I guess it’s better than no swim classes, but Aqua Tots keeps their pool at 90 degrees for littles. I just want to get in some laps and its way too cold for me. There is a hot tub, but obviously you can’t swim laps in there. I
am only keeping it for the yoga otherwise I would have canceled after the first time I put my toes in. Anyone know of a good local year round pool?

Gym and staff are good. There are a few hip abduction machines which might cause long waiting times during peak hours. Today, I had an uncomfortable experience when an elderly man repeatedly and loudly asked me, 'How many seconds do you have?' while I was using one of the hip abduction machines for less than 10 minutes. I'm not sure he was in a hurry or had a bad day, or even a racist(because I'm the only one asian women around)..... It was the first time I was urged by a stranger to work out in the gym..... Im sorry you guys have this kinds of person as a member and hope you have more polite and respectful people join in.

Are you ready to go on a vision quest? This gym is so horribly hot and humid that you will see your ancestors, no doubt about it. Spoken to front desk staff repeatedly about this and they do nothing. Other gyms in the area have working a/c, why not this one? Great selection of equipment and weights but be prepared to lift weights in a sweat lodge. It's truly horrendous to work out in and at this point, I have to think it's intentional.

I’ve Been going to la fitness for 8 years and this location for 4 years, it was great. Whoever the manager changed to either can’t be bothered to do their job or is being told to be extremely stingy and cheap. This location refuses to use the ac unless it’s above 90 I’m currently writing this in the gym while it’s 80 degrees outside and humid. They also don’t fix machines in a timely fashion leaving machines broken for weeks to months at a time. I used to love this location but it’s gone downhill because of this I’ll be leaving la fitness all together

The plandemic did produce one great positive addition & that was the spray bottles & hand sanitizers. Now not only (at Brookhaven, GA.) have you taken away the spray bottles but the paper towels too!!! Lord forbid a patron get a little sweaty, or have to sneeze, or get a bloody nose. What is really going on? The new wipes are garbage & a complete waste. Ridiculous & unacceptable. I promise you 99.9% of your patrons agree with me. Hate having to do this but management is MIA and the quality of the gym has been in a downward spiral every since Covid. Equipment can go months without repair (preventive maintenance you can forget about, just use it until it randomly breaks on you). Many opening mornings weights are left lying about, mats are scattered, benches are in bizarre locations, cable machine accessories are in short supply or hoarded by trainers. Latest insult, they have removed all of the paper towel dispensers and spray bottles of disinfectant, replacing them with barbie-sized wet wipes that run out two days after being refilled and are virtually useless for cleaning equipment. Add to that the random gym goers that like to play their portable blue-tooth speakers instead of listening on headphones and other I have seen setup tripods to film themselves (and anyone else who happens past) 'performing' their workouts (can you say invasion of privacy) and you have the perfect recipe for a disaster in the making. LA Fitness, you USED to be a reliable 3.5 star facility, are you throwing in the towel now? I mean not literally of course, because you obviously don't believe in towels of any kind now...sigh.

From the moment I walked into this LA Fitness and left I had outstanding customer service! I was greeted by the lovely front desk manager and directed to the GM Demetrius. I was given a tour of the facility and he even let me try a few of the machines to see how I liked it. He was very personable and professional and asked me what my goals were and helped me work around my work schedule so I could find the perfect time to hit the gym. Demetrius built the value which ultimately made my decision a no brainer. I’m now involved in group fitness classes and overall changed my lifestyle completely. Very friendly staff who want to see you succeed. From the amenities to the smoothie bar to the amount of equipment provided, this place is amazing. 10/10 recommend LA fitness in Brookhaven! Ask for Demetrius for a good experience!

Obviously not the fault of the gym or staff but this location is always jam packed. Weekdays mid-morning, Sunday mornings early, late night - doesn’t matter, always packed. It’s also the hottest and most humid gym I’ve been to. No air circulation, hot and stale. The people that work out here tend to be fairly selfish and rude. It is a 'newer' one. super high ceilings, music ok. tv channels on the limited side, but ok to work out. Jacuzzi is in the common pool area (men and women), sauna is in each separate section, THERE IS NO STEAM ROOM. This location, although it appears to have been renovated, has the filthiest bathrooms,shower, and pool areas, and a few of the stair masters are malfunctioning. Been working out here for a year now. For the money you pay you do get a great deal: it's pretty clean,.most of equipment is in order, almost never too crowded. Employees are mostly not engaging and pretty indifferent: no hello's or good bye's. The only really friendly and helpful manager is Adrian (at least during the night shift when I come in) — he is the only one smiling and welcoming. Oh, and one thing that's upsetting: the chlorine or whatever is used in the pool will make your eyes red and itchy for hours ;(. I wish they found something else to use there.

I’ve been a member of LA Fitness for years and completely disappointed on what has occurred today. My sister went into this location with the intentions to get a membership since the rest of my family are members. A gentlemen named Kostas would not allow her to get a single facility membership or even a gym pass. He continued to lie and say those options were not offered. Later started making jokes about how a treadmill works, like she was incoherent. She then explained the importance of trying out the facility first due to safety. As a single woman, we need to ensure we are in a safe area. Especially if they are going to the gym at night. I also believe she should not have to continue to explain herself. Getting a membership should not be this hard, and customers should not be disrespected in the process. I hope no future customers run into this issue. I will be cancelling my membership.

Probably the nicest LA I've been too. The machinery is high end and the turf area is really cool with a sled and punching bags. Definitely crowded post work so try to hit it mid day - but the equipment can't be beat.

This location is the worst known to man!!!!! The operation manager is even worse. He is so money hungry it is sickening he will lie straight to your face, don’t expect the machine that is/has been “out of service” to be fixed ANYtime soon (weather it’s Covid, short staff, or supply issues) nor don’t ever expect anyone to give you straight forward answer regarding your account you’ll get the run around for that as well. THE best person to go to regarding anything is Costus!!!! He will always be straight forward with you.

I became a member at the Brookhaven location back in the spring, and since then it has gone great. My girlfriend and I recently signed up for personal training and it has been a great experience and I strongly recommend to anyone thinking about doing it. Jimi is awesome and great to work with. After my first evaluation, which he made a lot of fun, he provided a lot of information on how we could achieve our weight loss goal. Laura Bobee, our trainer, has had us do a lot of tough workouts but it is very worth it and she also made it really fun. We are about to wrap up our first month of PT and we are looking forward the future sessions for the next year.

Generally a good gym. I have been a very long term member. That said, the Brookhaven location has many broken cardio machines. I don’t get it - why they don’t replace them? Almost all the stair climbers are broken.

This location has a great team of trainers, best choice I've made starting my personal training journey. Kendall has been my trainer for the past 3 months now and my results are amazing and my posture has improved and JiMi is always around for support and helpful advice.

My first time visiting this location was yesterday- 9/29/2021. I was excited to workout here because of the equipment (tires, sled, turf, etc.) However, once I started working out with my friend he was approached by an employee stating that he was "training" and could not continue to train in the gym. We were actually working out together (we both pay our membership fees), he was just waiting on his turn to do the exercise. The employee accused him of being a "trainer" without any kind of evidence. From what I saw around the gym- there were plenty of men and woman who seemed like they were "training" people. The employee was rude and said that he was going to check the system for his account. I wish that the employee would have taken a better approach to the situation because he made me and my friend uncomfortable.

For a flagship location you'd think they would keep it in better shape, bathrooms always trashed, cleaning supplies/paper towels consistently out. Its got plenty of weights, and plenty more waits for those weights during peak hours.

The management doesn’t enforce gym etiquette nor the actual LA fitness company rules for members and it causes problems. There are have several instances where members are arguing over equipment to the point where it almost comes to blows. Management does nothing. They need to go over the rules of the gym with members when they sign up and enforce the rules so things don’t get out of hand.
