For how much you pay a month youd think the place have more renovated lockerrooms but it doesn't. The weight selection and amenities (pool, sauna, and jacuzzi are great) are great. Occasionally they have to clean them ofc for upkeep but other then that theyre most of the time usable.

Staff sometimes close the pool at 930 bc they want to go home early even though that’s not the pool hours. The bathroom/shower room is completely gross. Basketball court takes 1 hour to wait until you can get into a game. Needs new management.

It be a zero if I could. I've gone there for over 5yrs. And not even a remodel of this facility will change the type of people that work there and work out there. It's the same staff, cleaners and members. The facility is always dirty. The equipment there is always something wrong. Members cut off the pins and constantly don't even have pins. Never low weight free weights available. The staff allow very loud music to be played by individuals. Members bring in speakers and work out thinking they own the place. Staff does nothing. And if a member wants to harass another member for race or even walking by someone else, they AND corporate do nothing!! Basketball players can be a problem with crowds, noise and always block the stairs to get up to the cardio area. Its just a hot mess. Not even a remodel will ever change that. The managers are absolutely terrible NEVER EVER have they smiled at you or said have a good work out. Youll be speaking with them and if their boyz walk by theyll completely leave you there standing and chat and then come back nonchalantly. Its terrible. Always has been. turn around in that place from corporate mgr to in house staff to child care through all the years to the present... terrible.It's not a great place all round. When poorly staffed in a relatively not great area... you get what you get. If your young,loud and have a high ego, by all means, this is your place. But the majority of people appreciate a nice smile when you walk in the door, clean, stocked, maintained facility... they can't even fake it. Current male manager is so full of it, I cannot even state everything here. The manager female currently lacks extreme professionalism and both mgrs are, its clear, discriminate towards certain color of people. I am so glad I finally left this place. I was harrarassed at this facility where my safety was threatened and they did absolutely nothing. They lied and said they can't access the cameras because that would have proven what happened, when corporate said indeed they have full access at anytime. just a mess. Very sad. Hot mess

The older black lady at the front desk who works here is very rude. Ripped up my guest pass because it was expired to embarrass me. Instead of helping me find options to still workout she disappeared for over 15 minutes, and kept me and other guest waiting at the front. Will never come back here...

I'm going to agree with the sentiment of many of the other reviews for the past year. This gym is in disrepair and dirty. There is not enough equipment to accommodate the amount of people that come here. I only come here due to the convenience but may try out some other gyms in the area.

They need more of the following machines as they only have one of each: hip abductors, hip adductors, and donkey kicks (and many others) It's like a battle to even be able to get on one of those if you come here after 7am.

The bathrooms are dirty, moldy, many pieces rusted, missing, and broken.

The etiquette is TERRIBLE. The people here carry around the free weights and cable machine handles so other people cannot use them. They also dont have enough handles for both cable machines so I had to buy my own and bring them with me. I accidentally left one set here and it immediately disappeared.

I have well on target so it's much easier for me to swap gyms - I'll probably do a trial ar PF soon to see if they have enough equipment to meet my needs as well as actual cleanliness standards.

I was excited to join LA Fitness because of its reputation for high standards — from cleanliness and equipment quality to class offerings and amenities like the sauna. However, my experience at the Conyers 138 location was disappointing.

I switched from Planet Fitness with the expectation of a more elevated experience, especially for access to the sauna. Unfortunately, within just over a month, I found myself returning to PF — which, while more budget-friendly, consistently provides a cleaner environment, properly functioning equipment, and a wide variety of weight options suited for all fitness levels (not just bodybuilders).

To improve, I encourage this LA Fitness location to:
• Prioritize cleanliness throughout the facility, especially in shared spaces like locker rooms and the sauna
• Ensure that equipment is regularly maintained and repaired promptly
• Provide a wider range of weights for beginners and moderate lifters
• Offer more consistent customer service that reflects the brand’s premium image

This location has great potential, but it will take consistent attention to quality and member experience to meet the standards LA Fitness is known for.

Worst LA fitness ive ever been to. The free weight section is a damn nightmare.. You can never find the dumbbells you need. They are either all over the place through out the gym or just missing. Everything is out of its place. The maintenance through out the gym is also horrible. I wont be coming back to this gym. Ive had it with the laziness of the staff to make this gym better for its customers. I came here a while back and left for the same reason.. I came back hoping it would be better and its not at all.

I called this location to ask a question and a guy picked up the phone whilst talking to someone in the background. I said hello, and he instantly hung up on me. I called back shortly after and no one answered. I'm starting to notice poor customer service at quite a few of the LA fitness locations. For paying pretty much $500 a year, I expect more. Smh.

The overall condition of LA Fitness in Conyers leaves much to be desired. From the moment you walk in, it’s clear that cleanliness is not a priority. The facility consistently feels unkempt, with locker rooms often in disarray, workout areas littered with towels or weights left unreturned, and a general lack of attention to hygiene. Equipment can go days without being wiped down, and it’s not uncommon to encounter foul odors throughout different parts of the gym.

What’s even more disappointing is the attitude of the staff, especially management. Rather than being helpful, welcoming, or solution-oriented, the team often comes across as indifferent or even outright dismissive. The manager in particular has developed a reputation for being unapproachable and uninterested in member concerns. Whether it’s a billing issue or a question about facility maintenance, interactions tend to feel transactional at best, and antagonistic at worst.

One glaring example of this lack of care is the condition of the sauna. It has been out of service for weeks with no clear communication or visible effort toward repair. For many members, the sauna is an essential part of their routine—and yet, there’s been no sense of urgency or transparency about when it might be operational again. The broken amenities and lack of accountability only reinforce the perception that member experience is not a priority at this location.

For a brand that promotes health, wellness, and community, the Conyers LA Fitness falls strikingly short. Members deserve better—cleaner facilities, more responsive leadership, and a basic level of respect and communication from staff.

I previously submitted a more positive review, but I've noticed a decline in service at this LA location. Other locations seem better organized and cleaner. The state of disrepair in the female locker room is certainly concerning. Deteriorating lockers with missing hinges and damaged wood creates an unpleasant environment. I have been attending this particular LA Fitness for years and I must say that the management here is in bad shape when stuff breaks down in the weight room or the locker room it stays broken for weeks also as you can see by my photos the men's lockers need fixing it has no hooks to secure your locker no hooks on the inside of the lockers to hang up your hat or jacket this has been like this for over a year which shows you that these folks are just there for a paycheck they never walk around the facility to see what's broken or needs to be fixed.

Also I inquired about having a clock in the free weight area of the gym 🏋️‍♀️ way before covid19 and guess what 5 years later we still don't have a measly clock on the wall in the weight room.

Every other LA Fitness that I have been to here in Georgia is 20 times better and better organized than this one here in Conyers.

Please hire someone to clean on the weekends. I went Saturday, someone left an energy drink by the stairmaster machines. I went again Sunday… same energy drink in the same place. All of the wipes were out, so people couldn’t wipe the machines down on both days. The women’s bathroom is overflowing with trash during the weekends too. This is VERY common during the weekends. That’s extremely unhygienic & problematic for a gym.

Update: It’s Tuesday, still no wipes in the gym.
Update: Wednesday - no wipes. At this point, it should say “no disinfectant wipes included in membership, bring your own.” Seriously, bring your own, these machines have not been cleaned in several days now.

I received a 7-day pass from another member to try out LA Fitness at 1618 Hwy 138 SE, Conyers, GA, and after a week of working out, I grew more and more disappointed.

On my very first day, the gym opened 45 minutes late, which was already a bad sign. The entire facility desperately needs a deep cleaning—it’s clear that maintenance and hygiene are not priorities here. The bathrooms were always dirty, even right after opening, which made me question whether they were cleaned at all after closing.

Throughout the 7 days, I saw the same water bottle sitting in the same spot upstairs, untouched. The yoga mats were dirty and torn, and the yoga room had dirty paper towels on the floor as soon as the doors opened. Upstairs, the sanitary wipes were empty from the moment I arrived and still weren’t refilled after my 2-hour workout. These are just a few of the issues I noticed, but they speak volumes about how little care goes into keeping this gym clean.

I was going to share the photos I took, but honestly, I believe management already knows how bad it is. In my opinion, the floors haven’t been mopped in months. Charging $49 a month for a gym that clearly isn’t being maintained properly is unacceptable. Members deserve better.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. I went to location 5am Fri, 1/31 to work out waited almost 40mins and no employee ever showed. I called later that day and spoke with Tiffany who offered no explanation as to what happened. I requested for someone to give me a call from Upper Management as this is completely unacceptable. Managers Quinton nor Valerie bothered to call back knowing they are off on weekends. Understand that we pay for gym membership not the other way around. I except better customer service and certainly for the gym to be open as advertised unless otherwise stated in advance to your members.

Horrible Experience and Harassment at LA Fitness in Conyers, GA

I have been a loyal member of LA Fitness since 2020, but my experience at the Conyers, GA location has been appalling. Every time I bring my wife as a guest (a privilege included in my membership), the staff requires her to retake her photo and provide her phone number, even though they claim this issue is resolved.

One employee, Karis, promised us in November 2024 that this problem would not happen again, yet on January 26, 2025, he demanded the same information, shouted at us in front of other patrons, and even threatened to revoke my membership. Another staff member, Tiffany, admitted to hearing him yell at us but refused to take accountability or provide a solution.

On top of this, my wife has been harassed with repeated calls and emails from LA Fitness staff pressuring her to sign up for her own membership. We have documented proof of voicemails, call logs, and emails from November and December 2024.

To make matters worse, the gym is consistently dirty, with weights unracked, unsanitary saunas, and unclean bathrooms. Customer service is at its lowest, and the front desk staff are unprofessional and hostile.

I would not recommend this gym to anyone. LA Fitness needs to address its business practices and train its staff to treat customers with respect.

I must say, after leaving out of town/ state for 2 weeks (in total, 3 wks away from LA fitness ), LA Fitness has stepped it up a notch in the ladies' bathroom 🚻 and locker area🙂. It looks like the area has brighter lights and newly installed toilets( all the bthrm stalls 👍). It was a time I would hold off going to the bthrm because I did not like the way the bathroom area looked, but so far, it has improved. They also put down a few mats in the walk area coming from the pool area ( earlier this year, I mentioned this to the cleaning lady that they needed this- I guess they listened! 🙂). Only thing left needed is the ceiling vents are dusty- they need cleaning- that is kinda a health hazard for some folks. But overall, keep those improvements coming LA Fitness, and keep up the good work! 😁

I love the water aerobics classes and the instructors. But the pool, sauna and ladies bathroom is DISGUSTING. The floors are nasty, the bathroom stalls are always out of order for months, never and hand soap to wash your hands nor paper towels to dry them. Always out of order signs up. The manager doesn’t care. The gym shut down for remodeling and we came back to only the weight area done. There were still out of order in the ladies locker room. Mold mildew and rust everywhere in the ladies locker room. And of course know one knows who owns the place it’s like a dog running around chasing it’s tail.

I can never find the free weights that I need. They’re never in their designated spot. Need a pair of 30 lbs dumbbells? They’re either where the 90 lb dumbbells go or they’re hidden somewhere else in the facility and you’ve no choice but to hunt them down.
No proper gym etiquette whatsoever. Joel Swoll would be disappointed. This place needs to do better as far as organization and cleanliness.

First of all, this gym is DISGUSTING. Every time i come in here the locker rooms and bathrooms are never clean. Pee, dirt & feces are always on the toilet or on the floor. The air quality of the gym just reeks of sweat, and even though it’s a gym full of sweaty people. I still shouldn’t smell it as much as i do. Alot of the gym equipment is overused and needs to be replaced entirely. The staff and management are really letting this place go down hill and for guest to be paying so much money to be members here you would expect much better quality in service, cleanliness and gym equipment.
You’re better off going to planet fitness next door. Its not as much amenities but at least its CLEAN!!

I came in the gym the week of July 15 at 751am waited in the front to speak to someone for about 30 minutes others came and left. There was not anyone on site to inquire about services. As a long-time member of LA Fitness, I have been coming here for years and have noticed a significant decline in the overall friendliness and enthusiasm of the staff. However, since Chase joined the team a few months ago, I have seen a positive difference in the atmosphere at the gym. Chase consistently greets members with a warm smile and goes out of her way to make everyone feel welcome. It's disappointing that she seems to be the only staff member who truly cares about creating a positive environment for the members. I'm sure any consistent member would agree that Chase's dedication and exceptional customer service skills deserve recognition, and she should be promoted to a role where she can train and mentor others to provide the same level of service she does.

I have two memberships with them. One of which is for my son. He and his brother have gone there together on multiple occasions, but today, he was told he could not. As Valerie over talked him and told him he did not have a membership that permits guests but for a $20 day pass his brother could enter or he can upgrade his membership. If that's truly the case, then the rules are inconsistent.  Regardless, the disrespectful tone, dismissiveness, and over talking a respectful customer was absolutely unacceptable.

When I called the gym to ask if there are different levels of membership, one of which you can't bring a guest, the young man that answered the phone grunted a one word response. When I called the number provided on the Contact Us page, it went back to the gym. Another young man answered so I asked for contact information for a manager. He said he didn't have any contact information for a manager, or a regional manager or headquarters BUT said he could transfer me. Odd. Then he purposely put the phone down and did not come back.

From reading the reviews, there is a history of rude behavior and inconsistent rules to follow. Some are inconsistent with even other LA Fitnesses which make them also questionable.

I'm detailing today's experience but this is the third time the staff there in some way was rude. This is supposed to be a place where patrons enjoy coming but instead we have to wonder what type of experience we are going to have. Our experience starts at the door and it starts with the staff.

(Oh and the gym is overcrowded and the dumbbells are never re-racked so good luck finding them.)

It is very disappointing when you arrive and there are NO disinfecting wipes!! There were 5 stations with wipes and 2 were taken away. Of the 3 remaining, often 2 are empty!!!! This shows a lack of concern for your customers health.......

I went in for a tour and the facility seems very cramped and dated. Also the members seem a tad bit too excited to invade personal space. The locker room smelled like cleaning solution so that was nice. But the sales rep touched the trash can with her bare hands AFTER she half heartedly washed them which made me wonder what she even washed them for. If I do join LA I hope I can drive by this one lol

I will never step foot into this gym again. I had a horrible encounter with the manager Valerie. I am visiting my mother and decided to go to the gym with her. She entered before me and then I followed about 30 seconds later. I have a LA fitness membership for my home gym but it is not nationwide. However, my mother does and she has guest privileges. I was approached by valerie who informed me that I would not be able to use my mother’s guest pass because I am already a member of LA fitness, just not at that gym and must pay to enter. Which is a lie. She requested money from me and would not allow me to enter unless I gave her money although I had been to the same LA fitness the DAY BEFORE with no issues. She is unprofessional (as she had an attitude throughout this interaction) and I experienced poor customer service. I will be letting headquarters know as well. I pay too much as a LA fitness member to be lied to and exploited for money. I do not recommend this gym as long as Valerie the manager is there.

I enjoy LA fitness as my gym of choice. For a while I went to another gym because they opened up closer to my home but it just didn't provide the same atmosphere conducive to pressing myself in the gym. Some of the amenities I enjoy most at LA are definitely the kids club (my daughter loves it there too) and the sauna. The only reason I have 4 stars instead of 5 is because the sauna is always packed every time I go. I wish it were larger or maybe if they had more than one so we weren't packed in there like sardines. But I work with what they have.

Walked in today to see about possibly joining this gym. When I walked in the gentleman at the counter was eating and didn’t greet us (my wife and I) I asked if we could walk around and see what all was offered and he said that we could.
We noticed two pieces of equipment that were out of service, the bottle fill station was down and the locker room/ bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. There was trash on the floors, trash on the sinks, rust on the faucets. The guy that told us we could tour the gym didn’t offer us any pricing, no formal greeting and no guided tour.
Years ago I managed several gyms in Lawrenceville and in Lilburn and this would have never been tolerated at one of our clubs.
Do better LA Fitness, this is pathetic!

For two weekends in a row, the air conditioner has either been broken or is being turned off for some reason. Workouts have been highly unpleasant and unenjoyable with trying to exercise in the extreme heat and humidity. Also with the air conditioner off, no air is circulating within the building; the sweaty and musty odors of a gym are way up and an offense to one’s sense of smell.

Please get the air conditioning in working order, or please turn it on every Saturday and Sunday.
