The La Fitness in Dunwoody is easily the cleanest gym in the area. The machines are all well-maintained, everything works, and you can tell the staff actually stays on top of it. Ari and Simmy make the experience even better, they’re professional, welcoming, and always on point!!

If you’re in or around Dunwoody, this is the La Fitness to choose. It’s the best one by far!!

This club is one of the oldest of the chain in Georgia. I first visited it while it was under construction and subsequently signed up. It has had its ups and downs. Most recently, their hot tub, pool, and even showers had issues related to their boilers/heaters. Understood as equipment wears out, contractors must be scheduled, and most importantly, parts must be ordered and they don't always come quickly. The current folks running this place are amazing. Ari and Simmy have got it all together and have the place spotless and and all in good order. I've had a few conversations with Ari as she has awaited the aforementioned parts. The club is a fantastic location and I hope the club will value these folks as much as I do.

LA Fitness used to be a solid brand, but it doesn’t feel that way anymore. It seems they’re aiming for a higher-income clientele, focusing on new upgrades and rebranding rather than maintaining their existing locations. The facilities that haven’t been remodeled are clearly showing it.

Staffing also reflects the shift — the energy feels lackluster and detached, which likely stems from leadership. While I’ve been reasonably satisfied with the product overall, it’s disappointing to see the company doing the bare minimum to keep things running while redirecting profits elsewhere.

Worlds OKAYEST LAF tbh. I like the location a lot and the members and staff are really chill and very friendly BUT it’s clear this place is falling apart and maintained as best as possible. On weekends - no wipes and they’re clearly running a skeleton crew. Annoying but I get what I need. Overall 6/10 experience everytime

LA was all right. Some of their equipment is rusty, but it’s still workable. Was I impressed overall? Not really. I bought a smoothie at the end of a two-hour workout. The smoothie was okay; I give it a four out of ten. I forgot there’s a Tropical Café in the same shopping center, and I could’ve gotten it cheaper, but I wanted to support. That’s the only thing I didn’t like—I could have saved a couple of dollars on a 10 rate smoothie. I also noticed that even the sign on the sauna was down; it was broken, but it was workable.

Worst LA Fitness location I’ve been to. Many machines are outdated and weights are limited. bathroom area is not clean and ordered a peanut butter blast smoothie with strawberries, but what I got tasted completely off and had no protein. Halfway through my workout, I felt extremely sick and ended up throwing up in my car. I’ve been getting smoothies at other LA Fitness locations for months with no problem, but this one was terrible.

I think 2.5 stars is more fitting but they don’t have that option so I’ll round up. The staff is very kind, the machines are a bit older although not necessarily outdated, they still get the job done. Some painting and what not is being done so hopefully that’ll spruce up the atmosphere.

The main issue is the lack and displacement of weights and grips for cables. I go in the mornings and sometimes I’ve gotta walk to the other side of the gym to get the weights I need. In the grand scheme of things it’s not the worst thing in the world, and since I’m soooooooo strong, walking around with these weights is #lightwork but considering we’re paying 40/month or whatever with all these older machines I wish they would have more weights and some new grips.

I go to this gym because it is the closest one to my job, and I work out in the mornings before work so it is like my only option. The new staff is great, they are friendly and pleasant. The facility on the other hand is not what I was expecting especially for it being in Dunwoody. The ones in Decatur and even Camp Creek (which is the busiest) are cleaner and nicer than this one. The showers need some serious maintenance and even some of the equipment. I know that Ari is trying to turn things around but it should have never gotten this bad.

I really appreciate the convenience of this gym and the recent improvements being made inside. That said, I do have a safety concern. Painting is currently being done while customers are working out, and the paint fumes during exercise create a potential health risk. Even with the door open, it doesn’t make sense to have painting and workouts happening at the same time.

For this reason, I won’t be putting my health at risk by working out with paint fumes present. I’ll return once the work is complete, but I strongly recommend scheduling projects like this outside of workout hours to ensure member safety.

Don't join if you plan to use the pool. The pool is going to be closed for the entire month of September. They told me I can't have a refund because I can swim at some of the other clubs within 25 miles. Who is going to drive 25 miles in Atlanta traffic to use the gym? (There is one other club nearby, but they have an outside vendor monopolizing the pool at the time that I swim.)

I had an incredible experience at this gym! The facilities are exceptionally clean and well-equipped, offering a wide range of areas and equipment for all types of workouts.

A huge thank you to Joshua, who was super friendly and welcoming when he gave us a guided tour.

The highlight of my visit was the guided class with Nikki Raymond. She is an amazing trainer—so attentive and knowledgeable. Her guidance made a real difference in my workout.

I generally do not leave reviews on many things, but I absolutely have to! I've gone to multiple LA Fitness locations: Midtown, Ansley, and even one in West Carrollton Ohio. This one is BY FAR the worst gym I've ever set foot in in life.

I recently moved to the Perimeter area and this gym is about 1 mile from where I live. I went at 8pm 9/8/25. It was disgusting in there. Missing weights (both plates and dumbbells), rusted machines, and I've never really been able to smell people the way I did in this gym. Mind you, it wasn't even crowded. I dont even think I saw another staff member outside of the front desk receptionist.

This gym needs a serious, serious, serious renovation and staff increase. I genuinely think this gym should not be open at this very time, it's just not being maintained well.

I hate to pick on this place but due to me not being able to use my membership fully by using the machines due to so many people sitting on the machines using their cellphones, then it’s warranted. This facility is one of the worst with this problem.

Two identical machines next to each other had people texting and reading their phones. I never got to use those machines so I asked management and was told they’re NOT allowed to tell people to get off their phones. I’m supposed to tell them…really? I’m supposed to approach a strange person and ask them to get off their phone or vacate the machine???
Come on CORPORATE!! Get it together and have managers post signs on the poles and entrances! I’ve had enough….

I typically use a different location but the Dunwoody club was more convenient for my work schedule yesterday so I figured they'd be comparable; unfortunately, this is the dirtiest gym I've ever been in. It's one thing to have some shared areas that need to be wiped down and some weights that need to be returned - that takes the entire membership's compliance and not just the management's - but floors were filthy and everything just looked very rundown. The water fountains seemed unusable as plants were growing out of them (see photo) and I found something on the floor that looked like a mouse dropping.

I have been a paying member at the Dunwoody location for over 1 year. I have not seen any improvement over this time regarding repairs or a clean gym. Equipment can break, but it should not take 4 weeks or more to get it repaired.
It should be important for staff to make sure that bathrooms and workout areas get a regular cleaning. Using the same water over and over is not cleaning.

Today 2/11/2025 they turn off all of the lights in the locker rooms at 9:55pm. There was probably a dozen memebers in the Men's locker room changing and getting ready to leave. It was completely dark.

This kind of neglence is how people get injuried! Not to mention this is total disreguard for customer service.

This is not the experience I typically have at LA Fitness.

There are some LA Fitness gyms that are clean and very well managed, and this is not one of them. The gym overall is dirty - particularly in the locker room. A quick look at the sauna floor shows that the last time it was cleaned was years ago. My biggest complaint with the gym is how management simply turns the lights off while there are still people in the locker room. Completely unprofessional and extremely dangerous. Planning to change my membership soon.

Been going to this gym for two months now and I’m not impressed or renewing my membership when it expires. The equipment is generally OK. However, I have a few complaints regarding this location. Pardon my rant.

First off, the men’s locker room needs more attention than a broom and a mop?
I’ve seen four grown cockroaches (yep) in two months and the shower stalls are old and disgusting.

Second, I have a huge problem with female attendants in the MEN’S LOCKEROOM. Some guys might be OK with this, but I ain’t one of them. Their policy is to announce themselves EACH TIME before entering and put up signs that state a female presence. However, I have witnessed on two occasions, the female attendant who works in the early morning, enter without announcing her presence. I refuse to strip down naked with the opposite sex walking in will nilly and getting an eyeful. Spoke to the manager Monty (who only says what you want to hear) at this property about it initially and he said that it was due to the male attendant being sick and that is why she was there. However, that male attendant came back and she’s still up in the cave every morning (???). I just do not strip down in the locker room anymore because of it.

Thirdly, front desk attendants need to be um, more attentive? I was in there one morning and a homeless guy walked past the desk because the attendant was not paying attention. She had her head down (not sure why). He ended up in the men’s locker room. I reported it to the desk and the police were called to remove him..

Fourth. Why are the vending machines always empty?

Update - 4 years later - the AC still sucks - it comes and goes. I only continue to attend this gym for one of the fitness instructors. This place is generally disgusting. They never sweep/vacuum the fitness room - which is evident by the volume and size of hair balls and dust bunnies in the room.

Bring your own water to this place! The water fountain is literally growing mold and has NEVER been cleaned.

Also better if you use the bathroom before you come. They are in terrible conditions. My favorite is the water that leaks from the ceiling and drips on you while you're in the stall. Hopefully you can find some soap and paper towels when you're done.

it's really sad that the management at this location can't figure out how to clean a facility. You can tell it's gone downhill to by the number of people who actually show up - attendance is visibly less than what it was in the past.

this is my favorite gym to go to in the area. I live closer to Sandy Springs and Holcomb Bridge locations however, I really enjoy the environment at Mount Vernon. Destini at the front is always welcoming and informative. You can tell she really really good job! Monte is also awesome. Helped me signed me up and is a great trainer. Brandon was great but no longer works here. I love this gym and I’ll continue to come as long as these people are here and the gym stays clean.

I had a concerning experience at the LA Fitness Perimeter Pointe location on May 8th. After checking in and briefly stepping outside to store my bag in my car, the operating manager approached me to verify my check-in. Despite confirming my check-in and explaining my brief absence, I was asked to return to the desk to scan again instead of using a quicker method to verify my status. This approach disrupted my workout and felt unnecessarily authoritative.

When I suggested a more considerate approach, the employee responded negatively and suggested that if I disagreed with the rules, I could leave. The situation escalated, with accusations and threats that were shocking and humiliating, as I was simply expressing my concerns.

Disturbed by this interaction, I left the gym and attempted to contact management. Unfortunately, my initial attempts were met with unhelpfulness and dismissal. Eventually, I reached someone who provided the corporate contact details.

As a patron of this neighborhood, I find this type of conduct unprofessional and disappointing. I trust that LA Fitness values the comfort and dignity of its members and hope that this incident will be addressed promptly to prevent future occurrences.

It sucked getting out of a freezing cold shower and still managing to sweat off my deodorant before I was able to leave. I joined this location because it’s not far from where I live. It’s a pretty cool location. Got a great deal signing up for the membership. Was supposed to be receiving a call after I joined to work with a fitness trainer for some tips. But never got the call.

A modestly sized gym, with some outdated equipment. There’s a good amount of ceiling tiles that are stained and moldy. The gym itself is fairly clean but not the best. The sauna would be much better if the wood were replaced due to the foul odor that they emit. This location has a pool, whirlpool spa (which is sometimes closed due to servicing), cycling room, basketball court, and racquetball rooms as well.

There’s also a small shop where you can buy snacks, shakes, etc. but I wouldn’t bother as no one is ever available when needed.

Staff should not turn off lights in locker rooms 5 minutes before the end of shift and then causing people not to see where their stuff is when leaving. It is causing confusion and safety concern due to dark. Also, guy staff in men’s locker room could be a bit nicer when kicking out people who do not see where their clothes are, instead of threatening them with trespassing, maybe turning the lights on.

Unpleasant Experience at LA FITNESS

I had a highly disappointing experience at LA FITNESS today. I arrived at the reception, having chosen the 1-day pass access option. Initially, the receptionist asked for the barcode, which I promptly provided. However, things took a turn for the worse when another staff member approached and, after a brief exchange, the receptionist informed me that they wouldn't accept the barcode for the one-day pass. I was told I had to go through the registration process to access the gym.

What baffles me is that on the website, there's an option to avail the one-day pass with a barcode. My frustration stems from the inconsistency in policies – if this option is available online, why are staff members not allowing it in person?

I'm a regular at Crunch Fitness and was considering transitioning to LA FITNESS, but this encounter left me appalled by the rude and unwelcoming behavior of the staff. It raises questions about the management's communication and consistency in policy implementation.

I urge the management to ensure a uniform policy is maintained. Such discrepancies in customer treatment can negatively impact the reputation of LA FITNESS.

Men’s bathroom always need a cleaning and floors are always wet. Need to be careful because if you don’t move slow, you can slip and fall

I do 5AM workouts (as soon as they open the club) so that probably means that they don’t clean it every night — just my assumption

Location is great and equipment is good. Lots of missing dumbbells though.

Other LA fitness locations are better

Front desk workers don’t care and don’t know how to sign people up via active and fit. Just a heads up, go sign up at another location first if you go this route

I’m a swimmer and the pool water temperature is always clean and kept at a temperature that is good for lap swimming and aquatic exercise. I agree with the last reviewer that the gym overall all is getting cleaned more regularly since the new manager Cody started. This gym is spacious with ample room between machines for a pleasant workout.
