I love this gym. It's the closest LA fitness to my house so I decided to check it out. The staff is chill, patrons workout and mind their business for the most part, and it's always clean or being cleaned when I come there. Machines don't stay broken for very long. I don't use the lockers so I won't comment on the locker room situation. It's rarely overcrowded so you always have access to a machine or bench. Over all this is my favorite gym in the city.

The Management simply does not care of anything here. I came across multiple times where I pointed the facility about the equipment that is not in working order but they never bother to fix it and almost all the times they are busy with their Phones. Nobody listens. It's sad, someone got injured in Sauna due to the door being malfunction. I hope Corporate is seeing this.

My company has negotiated a reduced membership for LA Fitness. I was about to sign up but I decided to check the reviews for the location near my house (Sandy Plains). I'm glad I did. There are far too many 1 star reviews. It's one thing for the reviews to be about a lack of cleanliness and broken equipment but there were numerous complaints about the rude staff and even more rude management. I will not be signing up.

The equipment is solid but compared to some of the other local LA Fitness locations this gym is kind of dirty. The mens bathroom and locker room especially. I go to the Roswell location as well and it is spotless and the vibe is much better. The Sandy Plains location isn't horrible but they definitely need to bring in a cleaning crew and possibly tweak the lighting because it's just a little dark compared to other clubs

Beyond a doubt this is the best gym and LA Fitness because of Ari who works there!! She went above and beyond to show us the entire gym, show us specific machines and made us feel more than welcome; like we were family. Every time we come in she has a smile on her face and is genuinely happy to see us! Any time I have a question about a machine or a class, she goes out of her way to help us have a better workout. Any concerns we have had about cleaning the machines for health safety she completely understands and even offered me a cleaning bottle she had when the rest were in use. I am unbelievably impressed by her kindness and knowledge and look forward to going to this LA Fitness location because she works there! Kudos to her for being an amazing person!! We need more people like Ari in this world!!

Staff is incredibly rude and unprofessional. And tonight was the last straw. Having an employee yell over the intercom multiple times, making rude comments and literally yelling at people to "GET OUT" well before close is insane.
I've seen them completely shut all the lights off 10+ minutes before close, which is a lawsuit waiting to happen. There was even a spread of several weeks where one employee would rush me when I came in 1-2 hours before close and proceed to follow me around rushing me to hurry up and leave, which is odd because I've never stayed past close. Regardless, this behavior unacceptable.
Management needs to get this under control and focus more on cleaning how filthy and run down this place is becoming, rather than allowing employees to sit on their phones upfront while they ignore and scowl at members.
This is a relatively expensive gym for what it is, and I can't be expected to put up with this behavior much longer before I look for another gym and advise others to do the same. But not before I reach out to corporate.

the Sandy Plains is my favorite location. today Ari and Dwayne -GM helped us with change in membership. They were so friendly and efficient . I go here for water aerobic and love the class. The pool walls, doors and ceiling could use some cleaning and coat of paint.

If you're thinking about joining this gym, run away and run away fast. We all know about the fitness industry's track record of dishonestly, overcharging, hidden fees, and sleezy sales tactics, but the people running this LA Fitness take lying to an entirely new level, especially their general manager, Von.
It must be a systemic issue stemming from the way LA Fitness trains their managers, or quite possibly doesn't train them at all.
Here's my experience. My 16 year old son wanted to join a gym, and this was the closest gym to our house. He looked into the costs, and we decided to sign him up. While doing so, it came down to two options: a seventy dollar annual fee and $20 per month, or no upfront fees and $30 dollars per month. We were told that both of those options were "local club only" deals meaning he couldn't go to any other location but this one. I was asked for a credit card, but being leery of being overcharged, opted to pay cash instead. I was then charged double the monthly amount after being told that all memberships were required to pay first and last month's fees at sign up. Fast forward 30 days, I dropped my son at the gym, and get a call 3 minutes later that they won't let him in. I return to the gym and ask to speak to the manager and for the first time met Von, the GM. This man proceeded to tell me that if my son wanted to come in, we owed $30 for his monthly fee, and $79 for his annual fee. I explained that we signed up for the $30 / month package with no annual fee at which point Von told his first of many lies and said "That's not an option." I told him that we had never been told there was an annual fee (on top of the annual fee we opted out of by paying extra monthly) and that we didn't agree to that. He then said that it was LA Fitness corporate who charged every single person in the country this annual fee, which I suspect was lie number two. I asked why we would be assessed a fee from LA Fitness corporate when we signed up for the local only deal and weren't allowed to go to any other LA Fitness. He then got combative, took a condescending tone, and told me to look at the name of the business on the front of the building. Again I asked why the national LA Fitness would charge an annual fee for people who were prohibited from using their services nationally. He had no explanation for this and said "It's their business." I asked him to show me where it was disclosed in the paperwork we signed, which should have been a simple enough request even for somebody with Von's limited mental capability. He then proceeded to pull up a blank contract on his computer for a package that wasn't the package we signed up for, and pointed at an annual fee, (lie number 3). My son pointed out that the package he was showing us on the screen wasn't the package we signed up for and asked if he could pull up the package we signed up for. Von refused, simply saying "All packages have that fee." (I assume that was lie #4, otherwise... no reason to hide from us the screen we were looking at when my son signed up). At this point, I said, "Let me show you the screen that we saw when we signed up" and I pulled out my phone and showed Von a picture that I took while my son was being signed up of the screen disclosing the fees. Just like we had claimed, the picture shows $30 a month with no annual fee. Von responded by saying, the pic (taken of LA Fitness' system, displayed on Von's own computer) was the wrong screen. Lie number 5. I asked Von if he was sure he wanted to do this explaining that I would write honest reviews depicting my experience on every possible site alerting people that he was trying to rip folks off and reiterated that when we specifically asked if there were any other fees and were told there were not. Von told me that it's my right to post as many reviews as I want and it wasn't him who told us that there weren't any additional fees so he was in no way responsible for something that one of his employees said, as if the law doesn't say the exact opposite.
LA Fitness must not train these people at all.

I've been training at this gym for a few months now and cleaning is always poor. The bathrooms look like they've never been cleaned, they always have a bad smell, the employees don't seem to be trained to make the environment clean and comfortable, they simply don't care, they just keep talking and using their cell phones. Mirrors haven't known what a Windex is for a few years now. I love the location of the gym, but the cleanliness and hygiene of the place is far from ideal

The facility looks dated and dilapidated. Dull lighting, sanitizer stations broken or often empty, the lights in the racquetball courts are often out or the brightness amongst bulbs is different, which affects visibility when you have darker areas and are trying to track a fast moving ball. The flooring in the courts is just plain miserable, some door handles stick, and they donβt care to fix or replace any of it.
The staff is eager to sign you up but once you are a member the service level is poor. I stayed a member for a few years trying to overlook the issues, but there were too many to ignore and affected my experience negatively.
And the worst partβ¦ they intentionally make it difficult to cancel your membership. They require you to visit in-person even though you can sign up instantly online. When you do go in, they donβt let you cancel during business hours - only Mon-Fri, only 9-5 and even then you must meet a specific person who will keep trying to talk you out canceling. So if you work a 9-5 and want to cancel later in the day or on the weekends, you are SOL. If you frequent the gym after 5 and were hoping you can cancel on your next workout visit, not gonna happen. You will have to take time off of work to comply with their schedule. And if the one person who can cancel you membership isnβt there, you will have to take more time off of work and try again.
These restrictions are intentional so as to prolong their revenue stream. By making you jump through hoops and make it difficult to cancel, LA Fitness succeeds in wearing you down and hopes you forget to cancel altogether since we all have busy lives, and that means more $$ for them until you remember again snd make time to cancel.

I am quite small and there are many woman who struggle at the gym finding a 15 lb weight. Not only that but they do not properly replace equipment. On top of that there are only four stair masters and one has been broken almost all summer. The membership is almost $40 a month please treat us better. This is a photo of the pad replacement. Been going to this gym for about two months, place is falling apart, they have a leaky roof, when ever it rains the ceiling starts to drip. Even after all that I thought it was an okay gym, but not worth the price. Decided to go to crunch gym near by my house instead, so I went to cancel and the guy behind the desk told me to come the next day where another guy is suppose to be in to help me cancel my membership. I showed up the next day talked to the same guy that was behind the desk and asked if the cancellation guy is in yet. This man does even acknowledge my question, he just asks for my number and then tells me that he was able to cancel it himself and I have one more month left. So Iβm wondering to myself why would he tell me to wait another day with something he could have done in less than 30 secs. Turns out it was the end of the month and he wanted me to stay one more day because that was the day they would have started processing another monthly payment. The last month of membership is something already include in you start up membership fee. So Saw the extra charge on my account, Then it all made sense. Honestly I donβt care too much about the money, and itβs an okay gym, not crowded or anything but that last misdirection really left a really bad impression for me.

- Old, smelly, rank carpets,
- Outdated equipments from the 70s with half requiring maintenance,
- Hot tub is really a semi-cold-warm tub,

I joined this gym in September to begin a swimming regimen. I liked that the pool was never overcrowded. I never had to wait for a lane! My partner and I would swim 3-4 times a week. We liked the staff and even joked that the one guy who was always there was my 'emotional support employee'. This is not my experience any longer, unfortunately, and I want to share in case anyone else is seeking out a pool.
In the last few months, it's basically been impossible to use the facilities anymore since the British Swim School has been allowed to use the area. There is no posted schedule for this swim school, so you may or may not be able to even avoid them. They do only take up one lane, I will say that. The outside door is propped open in the winter time making it extremely cold in the pool area. Kids from this class have helped themselves to our Gatorade before as their parent sits on their cellphone not paying attention... Most people who are there to do laps do not enjoy swimming with the school either, so there is also now an uptick in swimmers on the rare occasions the swim school is not present. I haven't been able to walk in and get right in a lane in months. Now I have to wait 30+ minutes just about every time I go (and this can range from early mornings, mid afternoons, and evenings as I work from home) and I still might be doubled up in a lane.
There are literally no other indoor lap pools with reasonable public swimming times in all of Cobb County because those facilities and times are specifically reserved for teams and schools like the British Swim School. The YMCA is a valid option for myself, but my partner would never be able to make it to their facility after work in time for a swim. I wish LA Fitness would encourage BSS to go to a facility like that instead.

Though I agree with the comments about the lack of cleanliness, I feel itβs only fair to shout out the great folks that work at this establishment. The GM Brian is very caring and will address all concerns immediately if you bring it to his attention. Also, Claudia at front desk, Steve in Sales, Maria in child care and Margarita who cleans the equipment are beyond pleasant with all the members on a daily basis. Yes, there are a few individuals that should not be working here because they donβt care but to their defense it starts with upper management (Corporate) that is not willing to get involved. They tell you that the DM will reach out to you but he NEVER does! Please give those mentioned a chance to rectify your concerns and letβs not blame everyone because of a few bad apples!

Had a bad experience with the General Manager. I have been a member for over 20 years and he would only offer my guest a one day pass. The website offers 3 and the app offers 7, but he signed him up for 1 day. Also, they HAVE NOT had hand sanitizer for 4 months and are not concerned with getting any.

Dirty gym! Since going back to the gym after the COVID hiatus, it is clear that the manager, Brian, doesn't take cleanliness seriously. The gym isn't being cleaned, and even something as basic as hand sanitizer isn't available. All the dispensers are completely empty - not just running low, but never refilled at all. Even worse I'd see something like a used band-aid on the floor in a prominent place and it was there every day for a week until I finally brought it to the manager's attention and he reluctantly had it picked up. If ANY kind of daily cleaning was going on they would have caught this. Visible signs like this indicate that daily cleaning and sanitizing isn't being done. With the continued threat of COVID, every effort should be made to keep the gym clean and provide sanitizer to best ensure the safety of members. Rather than making this a priority, all I've gotten are excuses, "we're short-staffed." When it comes to keeping the facility clean there are no good excuses. If the manager has time to sit at his computer all day (which is what I see when I'm there) then he has time to make SURE all cleanliness protocols are being followed.

This location is horrible and they allow their employee's to make woman feel unsafe. My privacy and other women privacy have been violated and the events have been reported to management numerous of times and nothing has been done. I have witness an altercation between a woman and a employee ( that works at this location) and the women who I have seen at the gym for years now. The woman was telling the employee how uncomfortable he has been making her feel while he sits there and repeatedly watch her while she stretches and workout. The young man stated to her " Dress appropriately for the gym " That comment was extremely unacceptable and unwanted. After that event I have not been back to this location, and hopefully the young woman hasn't either. The operation manager at this location is a woman I would think as a woman she would understand how this would make any woman feel. You should feel comfortable and respected when you're paying for a service. Management please be careful and mindful when you're selecting your employee's

After doing research and interviewing gyms, I paid for a membership at LA fitness in Sandy Plains.
Our membership was a year paid full for one member and a guest. The guest had to be family, it was a family membership.
I got this membership and have been going since January with no issues.
Today we were told our guest(my son) could not enter the gym because he was not a member or that he would need to sign a waiver to attend.
I explained that our membership included a guest and that this was never an issue until today.
That was exactly how we have been attending for 6 months. Primary member and a guest. EVERY single time. THIS was my membership.
The manager was called to help.
He was unapologetic and he told me my options were- to sign a waiver for the day and purchase another membership for my son if I wanted him to be able to attend or pay a $15 fee each time he came as a guest or to call corporate.
I told him the agreement that was explained to me by the representative in January and how we have had no problem since January. Why now?
In fact, βQβ and the other desk people welcomed the boys and talked to them each time that they came in to the gym. They were going 3/4 days a week. It was working very well. There was never an issue until today.
Manager told me his sales team is not shady - and we had no guest privileges so oh well. He told I must have misunderstood in the first place.
The representative that signed me up no longer works there so I couldnβt address it with him. His name was βQβ.
I was told by the sales representative and βQβ when I signed up that I had guest privilege and that is the ONLY reason I signed up, so my sons could go to the gym TOGETHER. I paid in FULL for this reason!
Two witnesses heard the membership agreement stated to me in January.
The customer service was not good. The resolution was not good. It was embarrassing and uncalled for.
I am hoping the operations manager can be more helpful.

I love this gym. I donβt know why some people complain. Itβs clean, the machines are good, the place is large. I always have a good workout there and never had any problems with the billing. I really liked my Zumba class, until the pandemic hit. Iβm just going back there now and Iβm so happy.

Elliptical machines are falling apart. 3 were down for months and no employee gave it any notice. I've been working out here for 8 years. I have seen maybe one new piece of equipment. This LA Fitness has not updated the carpets to tile. Bathrooms are a wreck at peak hours. Lots of employees sitting around, not many tending to the gym or its equipment.

Good gym, nice staff. Overall no real complaints. Staff walks around and returns weights and picks up trash frequently. Always polite when I walk in.
I started working out as soon as the gym was allowed to open back up, unfortunately since then people started coming back too π so I try and avoid peak hours or pickings can be slim.

Sales didnβt communicate proper expectations when signing up. I explained my scenario initially that I needed the membership for 1 month while I was visiting family. Was billed 2 months up front which I was ok with, but then was billed an additional month that was not explained properly. Two week membership cost almost $90! Please educate staff on explaining proper expectation of billing especially when you are aware of the situation.

One of my favorite locations because there are 3 spots for free squats as opposed to so many clubs with only two racks and a Smith machine. I dunno, I guess everybody else is cool with being built like chickens.
Staff is friendly but not invasive or overbearing. I appreciate the spacing of equipment at this location. Cardio area would be more fun if the back row of machines turned to overlook the gym rather than staring at the backs of the people in treadmills.
Treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, and many cable machines are in desperate need for upgrades. Overall, it's generally clean, and I still like going.

The gym and equipment is nice enough, but they will really press you for the sell & up sell. It is almost impossible to cancel your membership remotely, at a time when companies all over the world are innovating and finding ways to help us stay at home more LA Fitness still will not let you cancel online or by phone. They do, however have a mail in option ( takes about 3 weeks ) by which time I will have paid for yet another unused month, this will be the 3rd month. I planned on restarting my membership at the end of the year after things have (hopefully) calmed down a bit. I am 100% sure I will be going with planet fitness thanks to the complete lack of sympathy for the at risk and immunocompromised shown by LA fitness. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

Decent LA fitness, but the one in East Cobb is better. This one has dirtier locker rooms, not terrible by any means, just could be cleaner. Free weight area is good, cardio machines are decent but often the elipticals and some treadmills are broken. It's alright overall.

If you just need the basics this place if for you. If you feel all the equipment needs to be functional and arent concerned with some devices either taking months to be fixed or never really fixed and you arent concerned with any cardio other than the basics then this isnt the place for you. I joined several years ago and was told then that they were going to redo a lot of stuff and freshen it up. Was told that again a couple of years ago. Nothing has changed. I work out 4-5 days a week here. Dont use the changing room but it seems functional enough and usually fairly clean. Even before the virus it was frustrating to see them run out of paper towels and hand sanitizer regularly. People at the front desk are nice enough. As are those on the sales side if you actually need to talk to them. Wouldnt hurt their sales or the facility if they walked the floor once in a while and picked up trash others leave behind and just say hi. Just a suggestion.

training advice. actual rust on some equipment .I brought my own wd 40
in and cleaned some of the adjustable seats on various machines so they

Yes, LA Fitness is a great price for a standard gym membership. I am rating this gym compared to other LA Fitnesses that I have visited, 10 in total. The staff is nice, nothing to complain there, but the machines are dated and it shows. They don't label when their cardio machines are down which causes you to jump from machine to machine. It also takes weeks for the equipment to be repaired. Nothing against LA Fitness as a company just this location needs to be taken better care of by management. It makes me sad this is the one by my house.
