Sorry. Im not even a review leaving person but im hoping this does something for change. This huge corporation of LA fitness refusing to fund this gym properly is living proof that racism and gentrification is real. Its no excuse as to why there are only THREE 10lb weights in the entire facility. 4 five lb weights. The sparseness 25lb and 45lb weights is embarrassing. Especially when BOTH the nearest clubs (both built after this location) have been renovated while this club continues to be neglected. Its honestly making choosing this club an inconvenience for every aspect of the experience outside of location. The employees here are good people and dont deserve to be dealt this type of neglect from this large and profitable of a franchise. Hoping for change in 2026

2 stars because I’m being nice and giving it an extra star for chill staff. Not sure if he still works there but Theo is one of the few chill employees that I felt comfortable with and was friendly and welcoming.

However, this gym itself is NOWHERE worth it, especially the price you’re paying. If you’re a multi club member, you travel, move a lot OR will move, keep your LA Fitness membership for other locations or cities. Otherwise, if you’re only paying for this location, leave immediately. Going to this gym for about 2-3 months, it’s okay and has the basic equipments but it is SUPER dirty, unsanitary, smells, has outdated and broken equipment. The bathrooms always smell and it’s always dirty. I eventually dropped or stopped going because the gym is always crowded and some equipment were broken. There are also not a lot of weights. I wanted to like this gym a lot but now that there’s a new gym RIGHT next to them, called Fitness Connection, please go to that one. It’s cheaper and you get access to new equipment, better saunas, more space, more equipment, women’s only area, and many more...

I’m so shocked that corporate or the higher ups haven’t renovated or thought of temporarily closing this gym location and completely revamping because I feel bad for any current gym goers here. Like, they need someone to check this out seriously. Sure, it’ll have the basic equipment but you’re paying so much more than you need to for a smelly and unsanitary AND outdated gym. No rude offense at all but it’s just the truth. Unless you have a multi club membership or you constantly travel or whatever the case may be, you should be canceling LA Fitness membership here. Go to fitness connection or Planet Fitness even lmao

This gym is well maintained but there are no boundaries for the men members. As a woman, I should feel safe and respected in a gym, but here, I don’t. More than once, men have walked straight into the women’s locker room. Each time, we reported it, and each time, nothing was done. It’s not just uncomfortable, it’s violating.

We deserve to walk around freely in our space, to change, shower, and exist without being watched or intruded on. Instead, we’re left feeling ignored, unsafe, and silenced. This gym does not promote strength for women, it strips it away by refusing to protect us when we speak up. That’s heartbreaking, and it’s why I will never recommend this gym to any woman who values her safety.

I recently started going to the LA Fitness in Morrow and it has been such a refreshing change. The facility is noticeably cleaner compared to other locations on the south side I’ve visited, which makes working out so much more enjoyable. I also want to give a special shout-out to Melva—I see her working hard to keep everything spotless. Her effort and positive attitude truly make a difference!

I visit this location off of Mt.Zion, specifically for a weekly pilates class. Week after week the floor of the room where the class is offered is FILTHY. Clearly it is NOT ever swept nor mopped. It is unsanitary and disrespectful to paying members. I've repeatedly advised the front desk personnel, but have yet to see ANY improvement. It is DISGUSTING.

DO NOT JOIN AT THIS LOCATION!!! the equipment has not changed since they first opened in 2001 and hasn’t been deep cleaned since at least 2024. this location has been through three sales managers since january 2025 and the sales team do not care about anything other than getting money out of you and will up charge you. the staff is told to inconvenience customers who are doing day passes or free vip passes as well. the physical training department have been through 2 managers this year as well and consistently gets terrible reviews. multiple women have complained about the male staff making them uncomfortable with their flirting. the saunas do not get properly cleaned because staff is not supposed to be at the location pass closing, making it almost impossible to get a thorough cleaning done. the roof fell down due to a pipe leaking and they only replaced one tile and spray painted the water damage white to match the rest of the ceiling (management is very aware of this as well), a punch bag came down and the bolts are about to come out the wall from said punching bag, one of the hoops in the basketball court is also about to come down. machines will stop working and staff will not put any signs up or warn anyone. weights are constantly being stolen and management will very rarely replace them. unless a customer is physically violent or literally threatening to unalive people ,they will not ban the customer, there has been multiple shootings in front of the gym with customers and they have been allowed back into the gym afterwards. classes will be cancelled the day of and no one will alert customers till they come to the gym and are greatly disappointed. the pipes are constantly giving issues which is why the hot tub and the pool will be down all the time. corporate absolutely has plans to close this location and has been contacted 100 times to try and better the gym but they refuse to do anything. they don’t even care if customers contact them directly because why would they? if you’re in the morrow area , fitness connection and planet fitness are much better and 100% worth the money

I arrived today 6/16 to talk to someone about a tour around LA Fitness. There were 3 guys at the desk just standing there looking dumb instead of greeting us with a hello or something. My son said “maybe they think everyone who arrives is already a member” assuming is crazy to me even if that is the case. I stood there awkwardly for about 5 seconds looking at them look at me before I said nevermind and just walked out. I have heard LA Fitness has terrible customer service anyway. You can definitely tell there’s new management at this LA Fitness in Morrow—there’s a noticeable effort to improve the gym overall. The equipment is in good condition, the staff is more present, and the atmosphere feels more organized than it used to.

That said, the restrooms and locker areas still need some attention. They’re slowly improving, but cleanliness and upkeep in those spaces could definitely be better. It’s a work in progress, but I’m hopeful with the direction things are headed.

Overall, a solid gym that’s moving in the right direction. I’ll continue coming and look forward to seeing the continued improvements!

I’ve been going through so much with my body due to my health and unfortunately it caused me to gain so much weight! But now that I’m ready and made a dedication to SELF, I decided to get back active and do something about it. So, I pushed myself to show up to the gym even when I didn’t feel up to it, I booked a trainer that could show me how to use the different equipment and some advice. Well MICHAEL was a NO SHOW and it put me in a really bad PLACE!! This gym is more convenient so, it’s disappointing that I have to go to another LA fitness to see a trainer because I no longer trust that these trainers have my best interest at heart…. NOT TO FORGET TO MENTION! Walking through the door after not being in the gym for 6 months, I had to GREET the staff that was doing absolutely NOTHING but communicating with each other at the desk. At least the young lady spoke BACK!! Leaving she asked if I wanted to come back to meet with a trainer the next day I could come back and I politely declined!! I have paid too much for this membership to be treated like I’m there with a pass!! Moving forward I will never book a trainer at this location and I’LL NEVER SPEAK FIRST AGAIN!

I arrived at 8:55 PM, worked out until 9:40, and set a timer to sit in the sauna until 9:55—well within posted hours, since the gym closes at 10 PM. At 9:45, a staff member entered the sauna and said it would close at 9:50 per the manager’s request. At 9:54, another employee opened the door and said it was closed. When I pointed out it wasn’t 9:55 yet, she responded, “By the time you walk out, it’ll be 10.” I was in my car by 9:55. As I exited, a staff member announced over the intercom that remaining past 10 would result in an account notation. This is the second issue I’ve had at this location. If staff doesn’t want to work until 10 PM, they’re in the wrong job. I pay $150 down and $40/month for these amenities—do better.

FIRST VISIT TO THIS LOCATION FOR A DRY WORKOUT INSTEAD OF THE POOL. I asked the person in charge at the front desk this past Sunday May 4, 2025 @ 12 noon, if they would unlock the weights because there were NO 7.5 weights on the floor for use. She stated "we have to keep them locked up because people are taking them". My husband was asked if she would unlock them, I needed to use them. After having my husband walk back and forth to tell them what their own lock looks like at their request. She still wouldn't unlock the weights for us to use. They wouldn't even attempt to do the right thing. This was our first time working out here, we're not taking the weights, we pay $40 monthly to work out here. I was excited to workout. This nonsense just about ruined my whole day. By the way, the equipment that I'm asking to use is part of my exercise regimen recommended by their staff upon signing up for membership. She never unlocked the weights. I had to do without. Also about the machines surroundings; there were so many dust balls visible to the eyes around the structures. I will limit my visits to this Morrow GA. location. I'd rather take the long ride to another location. This was a terrible 1st visit to workout at this location. There were bunches of weights just sitting on the locked weights rack and there wasn't even a class going on. No one was using the weights. I hope after reading this review, you all will decide to DO BETTER.

I like the McDonough La fitness along with the Brookhaven and Buckhead centers. You have to find a good time thats right for you. They are super packed depending on the time. But I love the pool , spa and the sauna.

There’s not enough plates to go around. When the gym is crowded half of the equipment is unusable because there aren’t enough 45s/35s/25s to go around. Some locations have also updated, this one hasn’t

The management does not seem to care about the upkeep or appearance of this gym. There is ONE hook in the pool area to put your towel. It has been like this forever.WHY? How much could it cost to install hooks for members to hang their towels. THE OTHER LOCATIONS DON’T SEEM TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. WHY? Is it that they don’t think their clientele deserve any better? I discussed this with other members and they say complaining or bringing ISSUES into the attention of management is a waste of time. Southlake LaFitnees is the worse than the $10 gym across the street. It’s a complete joke!!!!Who would want to work there anyway. The equipment is 20 years old, the staff is very immature. It’s no future working there. When you make a complaint, everything is a complete joke. It would be better off., if La Fitness corporate closed it down for 2 months and remodeled the place. Planet Fitness is better than Southlake . The only difference is the pool sauna and the whirlpool. Half of the time , the pool is down or the sauna or the whirlpool. There’s a black guy who is quite tall, has a beard, on the heftier side, and has a low haircut. I believe his name started with a B. That man has a serious problem with abuse of power. Me and my friend went to this gym and unfortunately my friend did not have guest privileges which we were unaware of. So my friend found a solution and sent me his 7 day guest pass. I scanned this QR code into the gym scanner then walked beside my friend past the front check out guy. He sees us and then lies to his manager and says we were trying to sneak in. The manager explains that the problem with my guest pass was that I used one 3 months ago and I can only use one every 6 months. After some discussing I decided I could not afford a full membership. Then me and my friend think who we can call who has a membership with guest privileges because our other friends will be joining us. He then checks himself in then verbally tells the lady at the front that I am his guest. She lets us walk through but the manager tells him he can go workout then stops me and tells me I can’t. I asked him why because the other friend who joined us has guest privileges. He DOES NOT give me an explanation and then argues back and forth with me and is raising his voice to where other people can hear about my financial situation until he says he I can go into “his gym” for the day but if I come back he will call the police. Then when I get done with my workout l don’t see the manager and ask the people at the front desk what the managers name was. Then the first lightskin lady with blonde braids lies to my face. She first told me she knew him and that she could leave a message and then she asked why I want to know his name. I explained the situation to her and then she tells me she doesn’t know his name all of a sudden. I ask about 4 workers and they all deny knowing this man. Until one guy asks for his description and tells me his name was Bernay but I’m not sure if that is how it’s spelled. However the Manager/ Bernay does not deserve his job as he doesn’t show any customer service and broke la fitness policy.

The pool is always down/ rusty and just disgusting. I sat in this nasty stanky gym for 30 waiting for someone to cancel my membership. I got the run around majorly. I been a member since 2021 and you would think they would show a little more gratitude. But nope, I had to wait and it still didn’t get cancelled. One of the guys that work here said he would put it on his mangers desk, but he could’ve done that from the beginning. They don’t respect and one nor our time. This is my home gym & it really does pain me to have to leave this review. The staff is nice, but the quality is really not up to par. I’ve solely joined LA because of its cycling bikes & sauna. That’s it. It’s been down for a very long time. I call every now and again to see if it’s working ..( it’s not ) . I live on the southside.. Even though you tell them you found a better gym (planet fitness) they continue to try and charge your card. So when you finally make time to go to the nearest LA Fitness and tell them you wish to quit your membership, they won’t let you quit until they charge your card once again. Easily the worst LA Fitness in the state. I've been to several other locations and aside from the sign on the building it is impossible to tell they are the same company. The staff are great but that's about all I can say.

I only utilize this gym because of its proximity/convenience but this is by far the worst gym I've been to. The equipment is old, and broken equipment takes forever to get fixed if at all. Apparently putting caution tape on an item is an acceptable alternative to fixing it. In addition to this, it is neigh impossible to get a full workout in due to the lack of handles/grips for the cable machines (ONE set of the rope attachment in the EXTIRE gym).

This gym has tons of potential, but it does not appear management is concerned about improving their services & facility. If at all possible go to ANY other location for a better workout experience.

I stopped going to LA Fitness on old national because all the machines were down and the pool was very dirty and had mode. So I come to LA in Morrow the only complaint I have is the sauna is down and has been down over a month now. I asked the front desk when will it gets fixed she told me she don't know. I feel like if we pay our money everything should be working. They have no urgency on getting it fixed I will have to find another LA fitness or cancel my membership and find another gym because all the LA fitness have poor management

I usually go to Planet fitness but I decided to go to La fitness today and I quickly regretted it because the sauna was down , there was no sanitizing wipes for the machines on the upstairs floor and there was no hand sanitizer either . I went to the bathroom and they are not well kept. There’re was one clogged with toilet paper and the next stall wouldn’t even close . I was so disappointed in this experience , I’ll stick to planet fitness .

Locker room and bathrooms are not clean! I went on a weekend day and the toilets were filthy with no tissue in the stalls. The equipment isn't bad, I just wish they would take better care of the locker and bathrooms.

Update: 2024: The bathrooms stay dirty (they don't have a female cleaner); no soap or paper towels in bathrooms. Sauna has been down for days. I went upstairs for cardio, 3 machines we down and others were in use. They also did not have any disinfectant wipes!!!! Also, the equipment is old with the white rusted finish, the other locations have the gray smooth finish. Also, they have a juice bar, THAT IS NEVER OPEN!!! These issues are unacceptable for this location because the members pay the same membership as other LA Fitness locations, but the quality and service at the others are better. I really wish they would fix these issues.

This facility is slow in addressing issues. The pool water temperature has bern cold over a week, the hot wasn’t hot today but warm. Sometimes there’s not paper towels in the women restroom . The gym could be a lot cleaner for health reasons.

Reason I give it one star the men’s sauna is always down and we have some old equipment and not enough weights. But the people that come to the gym are very great and friendly. I hate they treat this location like this. McDonough has had another upgrade without this one being upgraded. They upgraded the basketball court but not the actual equipment.

Got the first pass offline and tried to go early in the morning. They told me my pass wasn’t active. They said I had to speak with a sales rep before I could workout and they didn’t get here till 8am. Asked to workout and stop back by on my way out since I myself have work but apparently it was unacceptable. Went across the street to planet fitness and I hate planet fitness. On today, I went to get in a needed workout. At the front desk was an employee named Chloe. I asked if she would please check me in. She said “NO” with a nasty attitude. She proceeded to show me the sign below. I told her I didn’t have the mobile app anymore because it interferes with the speed of my phone services. The irony is I worked out yesterday with no issue. Basically, she brushes me off with more terrible attitude. I began walking towards the first desk to speak with one of the managers (Pat) to get assistance to be checked in. Chloe says to me if I walk pass the front desk she was going to call the police on me. I have never been so disrespected by an employee of a business. This made me extremely upset because Chloe basically tried to criminalize me. To think that an employee would make a threat such as this is insane. All I did was asked to be checked in, I never spoke unkind or raise my voice. I have been a member of LA Fitness since 2007. I have been driving an hour from my home because I enjoy the classes. Unfortunately, in the morning I will be canceling my membership. LA Southlake is not the nice, friendly, clean, inviting fitness club it use to be. The employees need to be trained on how to proved quality customer service. No one should feel threatened when they are trying to workout to maintain his or her physical or mental health. Please find another gym to workout that will treat you with respect and kindness.

This place needs a major overhaul, there are no plates, The swim area is gross and needs a remodel. I haven't been to this one in a while but it has to be the worst one out of all of metro Atlanta, Camp creek is bad because the customers don't rerack weights but its clean for the most part. This gym needs to be SHUT DOWN AND UPGRADED! I should not have to search for weights, wait on machines cause half are broken, deal with sticky old machines that don’t work properly and more 😖. The drink/ smoothie area never open. The Hot tube controller is hanging half way off, we might electrocute ourselves changing the temperature. I was told that this was the last of the LA Fitness gyms to upgrade but they have not because too many black and Hispanic people go here. Do not look forward to coming here go to McDonough.
