I’ve been really impressed with the Sandy Springs LA Fitness. The gym is clean, well-maintained, and never feels chaotic, even during peak hours. The staff is friendly and actually greets you instead of pretending the front desk is an art installation. The equipment selection is solid — plenty of cardio machines, a good mix of free weights, and the weight room is spaced out so you’re not awkwardly bumping elbows with strangers.

The locker rooms are kept tidy, and the sauna/steam room are a nice bonus after a workout. Group classes are well-run and upbeat, and the trainers seem to genuinely care about helping people hit their goals.

Overall, it’s a great place to get a consistent workout in, and probably one of the better LA Fitness locations in the area. Definitely recommend.

This LA fitness is great. I recently moved to the area from Decatur. And this gym is a lot nicer than the ones in the Decatur area. The equipment is all newer, the sauna is hotter and nicer. The staff here is great as well they are all super polite. Bethany the GM is super friendly and manages the place well. We say high to each other every time I walk in.

Beware Membership Prospects ! Dont walk away - RUN

--The whirlpool hot tub has been flat broke busted out of operation for 10 ridiculous weeks -- LA Fitness does not plan to pay money to fix it or it would have been fixed within the first week. How do I know this ? Because I am a commercial maintenance engineer and the company I am employed by Respects their customers by making repairs - with the money they pay to be their customers .

3 shower stalls don't have soap dispensers, + 2 toilet stalls are either closed off or have broken paper dispensers..

ANYTHING can be repaired or replaced. . This is how honorable persons conduct business. Not LA Fitness. Excuses , and it is my observation they are in alot of money trouble, or totally without character. Maybe Both. Either way we're leaving and never coming back , they dont Deserve our business any further.

Candidly - CRUNCH but for a few features such as racketball courts etc, has All that LA Fitness offers - for much less price and they DO repair the building features when something breaks . - LA Fitness does not .

In my business world this is known as Blatant Disrespect to customers who in good faith pay LAFitness monthly - but yet whom are not rewarded in turn with very basic Honesty of repairing damaged amenities. Whirlpool Hot Tub now inoperable for A Month - bubbles and circulates but No Heat - On-Site Staff is well aware that it is damaged but in reality they have no authority to spend money, its the people behind the curtains who make these ' decisions ' . Bathrooms have stalls some with no toilet paper dispensers , and showers some with no soap dispensers . And yet they proudly continue to take our money . Until now -- per we are cancelling / leaving. There are many other health clubs whom will RESPECT you with repairs and Honesty.

Yet another amenity has broken down here for close to 10 weeks and shows no signs of being repaired - this being the popular / oft used whirlpool - hot tub.

Guess what? - Now there has been NO HOT WATER in the building for * 6 DAYS * ..of course, no signs in the lobby or entrance doors to warn the Paying Customers of it - - after all the visiting membership prospect$ could find out about and then intelligently run the other direction to another / better fitness club ! ...REALLL low class stuff...

A few months ago, 2 of the racquetball court lights were 75% inoperable for seven (7) weeks so we've seen this movie before

Being part of a group that sponsors a particular corporate membership, we are quite disappointed, again ,in LA Fitness Not Making Timely / Respectful Mechanical Repairs **to amenities that are included in a membership agreement, while they continue to collect our money as if All IS Well ...* not good, and we are currently investigating the legality of this with the GA Secretary Of State office .....

Initially one of our partners TWICE called corporate complaint line, the person on phone put him on hold, came back and said the GM there advised it was running at 104 degrees . this was Not The Truth , as one of our members had tried to use it just 12 hours earlier the prior evening and it was stone cold ... THRICE since then a member has checked it, same rotten results - jets shoot out the water but its cold, t-stat showing between 65 - 68 degrees.

Being with an Asset Management company for many years i can personally account that there is Nothing that cannot be mechanically repaired ------ *If You Sincerely Wish To $pend The $ To Repair It. * ..anything else is cheap talk...We could have called someone day 2 it was out of operation and by day 4 it would have been 100% repaired -- because we respect our customers rather than try to fool them with behind the scenes penny pinching, for which then the front desk employees have to answer for....we are not fooled at all...

We have thus now successfully canceled 13 formerly sponsored membership$; approx $5000 per year , and there will be more leaving ... so much for the heroics of ' saving money ' by not ethically & legally making repairs....

Also of note is that in the Mens locker room area alone, and 2 of the 8 shower stalls do not even have soap dispensers .. yet they continue to collect customer$ money.

The LA Fitness at Sandy Springs is a mixed bag. We use the Racketball Courts regularly and availability is generally very good. The Pool is also nice - not very crowded and clean.

But overall maintenance can make do with some work - the hot tub has been out of order many weeks, many equipment are under service for weeks, shower areas are not cleaned very well - curtains have mold and/or are dirty.

It meets my purpose but could be easily be a good place with better and prompt maintenance.

Don't join if you plan to use the pool. They sold two of the lanes to an outside vendor, leaving 1 lane for other members during peak times. Obviously they care about this other stream of revenue more than they care about members. The only other LA fitness nearby has a pool that is closed for the month of September. The regional manager encouraged me to visit any of the other clubs within 25 miles. Who is going to drive 25 miles in Atlanta traffic to go to the gym?

The list of these things would require time for a long read. I guess the location is what keeps them open because the facility is for crap. Reminds me of the old boxing gyms in the movie's. I've recently signed up for a membership at the LA Fitness in Sandy Springs. Overall, it's a solid gym — clean, spacious, and equipped with everything I need. I really like that they have cleaning stations available throughout the gym, which makes it easy to wipe down machines after use.
The staff is generally friendly, and I feel comfortable working out here. However, I did run into a couple of issues during sign-up. My photo was never taken when I joined, so every time I check in, the system prompts for it just a small thing, but it adds up.
Also, I was told by the person who signed me up that I’d have to pay extra for aqua classes and that I only had access to one complimentary class. That turned out to be false — all classes, including aqua fitness, are actually included with my membership. It was a frustrating bit of misinformation that could've impacted my decision had I not looked into it myself.
Aside from those issues, I do enjoy working out at this location

I’ve been a member at this LA Fitness location for about nine months, and I also signed up for their personal training program. Honestly, it’s been a really disappointing experience. The trainers are unresponsive, the management is pretty awful, and it feels like they don’t care about their customers at all—they just want your money. I was born in South Central Los Angeles. I put myself through school and bought a 500,000 home with GREAT SACRIFICE in Sandy Springs. My family and I all have memberships at this gym. My fiance and I have noticed that over the past month or 2 there is a homeless man sleeping by the jacuzzi and sleeping on a mat in the stretch area. He smells quite horrendous! There is also a woman mumbling to herself in the women's licker room. When we mentioned it to the staff, they told us that there was nothing they can do😡 according to the law. However, our gym is ZONED as a BUSINESS not a RESIDENCE. Our gym is not designed to be a sleeping or loitering facility. IF they want them to stay there then create a lounge with a t.v. and make sure they bathe so we are all comfortable. We have EARNED the right to enjoy our time at the gym or we will take our business ELSEWHERE.

This place is the worst. The customer service is HORRIBLE. The management is HORRIBLE. I have contacted the company for over 4 months to discontinue billing for personal training after my contract ended and they continued. Finally, a supervisor decides I am not entitled to a refund of the 4 months after the location manager told me it was processed. I am continuing to fight and escalate but I will never do business with LA Fitness again.

I usually go to this gym in the mornings. I love it. The atmosphere is quiet and everyone just gets straight to it. I’ve been going here for about 2 years now and have no complaints! It’s 1,000 times better than the LAF down the street on perimeter. Omg, do not waste your time there! I made that mistake when I was first finding a gym in the area and the two are literally night and day. I’m genuinely not even sure why the other one is open? A co-worker told me about this location and how much better it is and they were 100% right. Another reviewer said the carpets need to be changed? And i guess they’re right but honestly I’ve never even looked at the carpets so there’s that 😂

The one thing I will say is I wish they had more dumbbell options like the straight ones, but that’s if I’m being super picky.

This my local LA Fitness and I have been coming here for quite sometime. I left an item at the gym and approached a man named “Michael” (that’s what he told me, but he is a short, white man with dark hair, who barely greets guests) at the front desk and told him of the item and what it looked like. He never asked my name or number and never got up from his chair or approached other staff about the item to ask if they had seen it. He just said “i’ll look” and shrugged me off and went back to his cellphone. I watched him the entire 2 hrs at this location and he NEVER left his chair, his interest in helping me was never there and he basically told me anything so that he could get me away and never planned on looking or asking around. Nevertheless, I saw it by the desk of one of the staff in the front and I told him that had he just looked or asked his staff, he would have found it. He told me “it’s not my fault you left your item and I didn’t ask the staff because it’s not my job!” So sad that employees like this turn loyal patrons into members at OTHER gyms. I’m sure LA Fitness can use the money from his salary to do other things, other than pay an employee to sit around doing nothing, but being a condescending jerk all day to members because he doesn’t want to actually work. Do better!

For a Family member of mine. He went to bed early night before to get to gym by 5am open time, only to wait an hour in parking lot because nobody was there to open on time. People plan their entire day around getting that morning workout in before work, it is important to them. To open an hour late and now effects their entire schedule for the day is unacceptable. These are the most nasty incompetent people that I've ever had to deal, with and I've never had a gym membership through their company, (nor would I want one with them.) I live 800 miles away, and they call me repeatedly because someone that had my phone 5 years ago might have given them my phone number or someone put it in by mistake. So, now I get repeated messages that are nasty and you can barely understand, and constant phone calls. I've called and spoken to three different people, and been told my phone number was going to be removed from the system. They are harassing horrible people. I have noticed the restrooms, showers and overall cleanliness has really improved. I was curious as to who the new gentleman was that I felt made the change so I inquired. I was told his name is Kareem. This guy has done an excellent job at making these areas home felt and very comfortable to utilize. It’s been so dirty the last few weeks. They moved the mats to make room for a vending machine so it gives less room for people working out on mats. They removed the sanitation spray and have the worst sanitation wipes that dry out immediately after removal. Cleanliness is the issue here. Of all these sinks, only one ever has soap. It is not refilled daily (it seems) and the sanitizer stations are often empty.

Gym itself is fine. Machines arent the newest but its affordable.

This location allows people to bring in loud personal speakers, work out without shoes and without shirts. Complaints of this behavior are overlooked by staff since this behavior has increased. There are a few excessively loud cliques. This place feels less safe then a year ago so consider other nearby locations.

The majority of people are polite of others. They keep a good stock of cleaning supplies and weight plate and dumbell etiquette is great. In general, it's a good place to workout but the staff just need to enforce their policies . I feel maybe this is the environment they are going for at this location.

I went to this gym several years. They have a good variety of equipment, classes and facilities. The problems I had with this gym were: good gym etiquette was not encouraged or enforced, and the gym was often very warm/uncomfortable in my opinion. It's very annoying to have to clean up after someone when going to a weight bench or smith rack. Many people leave weights and equipment out and don't seem to have any consideration for others. Often times, the AC unit didn't seem to work well. I didn't utilize the added benefits (sauna, pool, basketball court, racket ball court, spin classes, boxing room etc.), so I switched to a cheaper gym with less options.

This gym is filthy and the staff is just there to collect a check! They are not wiping down the machines…for their to be weeks of build up on the machines. The leg extension machine was broken and fixed but the pad is still broken. If the gym is going to be filthy why do I pay the once a year “maintenance $50 fee?” Please do better LA Fitness!!

April 23, 2024: no cleaning. Look at the floor and see that it has not been mopped/vacuumed in years. Don’t get a membership here.

March 11, 2024: gym doesn’t open on time because staff forgets their key. Refund!

February 13, 2024: gym fails to open on time. Staff forgot his keys. Poorly run, don’t get an LA fitness membership.

October 30: Gym doesn’t open on time. Paying customers wait outside. Refunds should be issued to customers.

October 28: Paying customers wait outside for the gym to open. People leave because gym doesn’t open. People working here don’t
understand or care they waste peoples’ time.

October 16: Paying customers wait outside for the gym to open 6 minutes late.

September 12: Paying Customers wait outside at 5AM because gym doesn't open on time. No employees arrive so the Paying Customers leave. The managers running this gym fail at the very simple task of opening their business and waste the time of members.

September 10: people wait outside for the gym to open 10 minutes late. What other businesses are ok with their employees opening doors late?

July 2023 Update: there is human feces cemented on the wall of Men's bathroom stall #1. The water fountains have severe mildew and pink-mold build-up in spouts.

Update: this gym earns 0 starts. Go somewhere else where you won't contract diseases. There are other gyms close by.

Avoid this gym: very poorly managed, dust and dirt everywhere, trash strewn across floor, weights laying everywhere, bathrooms disgusting, opens late. Expectations not met.

I joined LA Fitness a little over a year ago and in all honesty it has been a subpar experience. Most recently, on the last due date I was awaiting a replacement card so the lost card didn’t go through as the bank had cancelled the card for safety reasons per the usual. LA Fitness proceeded in charging a $5.00 late fee later that afternoon so I was required to spend time on the phone and in the gym to explain the situation and remove the late fee that should’ve never been charged on the date I’m contractually obligated to pay. When I found more time to do so, I reached out via e-mail to customer service and requested a elimination of an annual fee or some type of credit the the account for this experience along with other equipment. There was little to no sympathy. I will give them incremental time to address these situations but before joining this gym there are some things you may want to consider. I have visited several locations in and around the Atlanta area and this location reminds me of the Windward Parkway prior to a much needed renovation. If you proceed with signing up for a membership here please use the list below to negotiate your monthly fee, I believe no person should pay over $15/monthly for this gym. I only use cardio equipment cannot speak on weight lifting equipment.

Cardio Equipment:
(1) Elliptical 4 and 6 from center of the gym have been broken for a year and they have taken the ‘Waiting For Service’ signs down, typically on weekends when most unsuspecting individuals are touring the gym. About 8 of 12 ellipticals make a clicking noise when in use as if they are in dire need of a calibration
(2) Many of the treadmills are either broken or do not incline
(3) There is trash left on and in the cups of the the ellipticals and treadmills often and the staff seemingly has a greater interest in sitting at the front talking on their phones versus doing a spot check….and this can go on for weeks as I’ve seen the same trash on broken equipment ‘marinate’ for quite some time.

Pool:
(1) I used the pool once and there was a layer of brown slime on the bottom so decided not to use it again
(2) A patron stated she was unimpressed with the pool and I asked if it was the layer of brown at the bottom and she stated there was actually a FILM floating on top!

Sauna:
They recently redid the sauna and used pine wood, it gets VERY hot, and according to another patron who’s a contractor will eventually start to release toxic fumes. I often have red marks when using and fear it likely has a potential to cause burns

Locker Room:
(1) About 3/4 of the sinks in the locker room are not working…the water doesn’t even turn on
(2) Half the time I’ve noticed they will fill the nonworking sinks with soap and the working sinks will be empty of soap so you’re forced to use two different sinks to wash your hands
(3) There are no weight scales in the locker room here, I believe there was one in the male locker room and not one in the female locker room because when they collected the equipment to send back two appeared. According the customer service a new scale has been ordered but it would be nice to have equal treatment of weigh scales in the locker rooms for privacy.

At other locations, i.e. Marietta, I’ve seen someone visit weekly and clean individual equipment but have only seen this 3 times at this location. The Roswell Rd location takes the cake for broken equipment now that they’ve renovated the Alpharetta/Windward Way location. It does not make sense to me why they have not renovated this location and continue to operate with a subpar facility.

I will add to this list as needed, I wish customer service would have worked with me but unfortunately I don’t get paid to report the nuances staff should in all honesty be reporting to begin with. Hopefully this helps at least one person to make a decision on whether or not the gamble is worth the cost

Shanita’s Zumba class is the reason that I keep my membership here and the reason why I am rating it 5 stars: She is one of the best Zumba instructors I have ever seen. I frequent the locations where she has her classes. She is not only dedicated to her craft, she provides a positive and uplifting environment for anyone who crosses path with her. I am grateful to have found such a great instructor as she is a gem! As far as the workout equipment in the gym, it is outdated and the gym is too packed for my liking. The machines look like they need to be cleaned/updated. I prefer to workout at my home gym and keep my membership because of Zumba.

I really didn't want it to come to me writing this review, but this is the worst gym I've ever worked with they will lie and cheat you for your money.

I signed up back in June of 2023 and spoke with the personal training manager at the time about the personal training options. I specifically told him I was looking for maybe 2-3 months of personal training to get me back in the swing of things before my wedding in October and then would want to cancel the PT and do things on my own with my regular membership. He said that wouldn't be a problem, and so we set it up. About 2 months later (sometime in August) I try to cancel my PT and the new PT manager said I can't because I signed up for a 12-month contract.... long story short we talked to the GM (Dee) and he said he's learning this was a regular occurrence for the previous PT manager and said that's why he was fired. Dee assured me he would take care of this and would cancel the training, he just had to submit it to his VP or corporate or whoever, but assured me we wouldn't be billed for it any more and that we would be getting a call back from his upper this week. We never got a call and I was billed the following month for it. I went to Dee, he fixed it, and "resubmitted" the request to whoever needed to approve it and swore we would get a call back that week. Still no call, and still got charged again. By this point I'm just fed up and don't care to use this gym anymore. I went in one last time and told them to cancel everything, I'm done, I want out. Dee apologized over and over again and assured me it would be taken care of asap, by the end of the week. I even had another LA Fitness employee telling me on the side that I'm going to have to change my credit card info because they won't stop charging me regardless of what they tell me... so I did. At this point, it's almost February now and I've been trying to get my personal training and my membership canceled since August, with multiple trips made to the gym to speak to Dee face to face, and an ungodly number of phone calls; that's almost SIX MONTHS of them trying to bill me for services I haven't used in those 6 months, blowing up my and my husbands phones trying to get payment saying our account is accruing a balance and late fees, etc. even though the general manager assured me he would cancel this for us because of the "inconvenience it's caused us". Billing can blow my phone up and call me all they want but anytime I try to call them back I can't get anyone to answer. This place and (some) of the staff are an absolute joke who will lie and take your money if you're not staying on top of things. And it's a shame because I actually liked working out here...

I would never recommend LA Fitness to anyone, I felt this location was NOT clean at all!! You could see the sweat by the cardio area, not kept up at all machines were always broken,
Nor would I recommend any LA fitness any where!! Totally miss leading! I moved back to NJ they were able to cancel my membership but not my personal training which I was told can cancel at any time!!
NOT TRUE!! So I had to pay over thousand dollars to cancel it!!
The only thing good about this gym for the short time I was there was BRANDON!!! Great trainer!!

Ended up going to the hospital due to lights being cut off twenty minutes before closing and injuring my shoulder!The guy who worked tonight with the black shirt couldn't even hear me trying to get his attention because he had his headphones on!! I hate I started a membership here will be canceling and seeking costs for medial treatment.It should be no reason a gym turns almost pitch black while working out!If you're that in rush to get off then find another job!

Joined this gym to use their sauna after moving further away from my old gym and it being very inexpensive. This place is a complete dump. There is trash everywhere, the bathrooms and showers are disgusting with mold and trash throughout, the equipment is outdated and much of it broken or not working properly. The one thing that I actually joined for, the sauna, is never cleaned and the thermostat broken so is dangerously hot, 220 degrees. I went earlier this morning and the sauna had trash all over the floor and broken glass in it. It’s honestly amazing this gym is allowed to operate. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

The Sandy Springs LAF is one of the cleanest and best managed in the Atlanta area. I work out at multiple clubs throughout the month depending on where my work schedule takes me. Sandy Springs stands out. The staff has been super helpful and the manager, Dee, walks his gym and asks how you are doing and if there is anything that he and his staff can help you with. Very customer focused.

Just had my locker broken into. Someone managed to jar it open with some kind of tool. It's a $15 combination masterlock from Walmart. I brought this up to the manager at the front desk and he said he would talk to his GM about it. I didn't believe him because his attitude seemed like one of no concern to me so I asked if he'd take down my name and phone number. He then had his assistant do it at the front desk. I left the broken lock with them and asked them to replace it. I will leave this review here unless they do. Don't leave valuables in your locker here unless you want to lose them to thief's.

I honestly hate writing bad reviews but this is the 3rd time I’ve come to the gym at 6 Am and members are waiting in the parking lot because someone didn’t open the gym. I live in Acworth and come to this la fitness 3 days a week because I work right down the street. This LA fitness needs a remodel pretty badly. Or even just a good cleaning/better upkeep and definitely better staffing, or maybe pay your employees something worth getting out of bed in the morning. At this LA Fitness The same few machines are often broken. Shower tiles are broken and missing, some of the shower curtains also smell like urine and the Air conditioning seems to always be broken.

Unfortunately this LA Fitness is pretty rough. The staff is nice and it’s usually clean in the gym area, but the bottom of the pool and whirlpool look extremely questionable. The cardio equipment there’s a good chance a chunk of them are down when you go. (I found an open treadmill then realized the incline didn’t work as I type this.) The AC currently isn’t working, not the biggest deal breaker for me. The cardio equipment that are working look rough and either have broken cup holders, handles, don’t move smooth, or tv doesn’t work. I know gyms took a big hit three years ago but this place desperately needs some money put in it.

Good value. Has everything you need, plus basketball court and juice bar. Not too crowded. I would like to give a shout out to DeQuez and Lenworth. These guys are why I chose this gym. They've really provided great customer service and both just have great energy about them. Also, the lady working the juice bar is very good at making post workout drinks and is a lovely person.
