When using the basketball court during open gym the first come first serve common courtesy is thrown out of the window. This is the first time I’ve ever been kicked off of a court during the middle of a game because someone else wanted to use the goal. Whoever uses the court first has the right to it unless specifically rented gym time starts and that is not held up. There should be a warning that this would be the last game at the very least instead of lowering the goal during the middle of the game.

The facilities deserve 10 stars. Absolutely beautiful! But what good are the facilities with ONE (1) star customer service. No smiles. Lazy and petty in their treatment and care. No desire to help with basic questions. Couldn’t wait a few extra minutes for us clear out. Rude. Paid $750 for a few hours. They need an urgent change of personnel! Hope it’s not because we’re Hispanic. I mention this because I’m seeing other’s reviews raving about the staff. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Really nice facility! Scheduled one of the rooms for a meeting recently and it was great. One star knocked off because the internet service is pretty terrible, but otherwise everything is very nice!

Didn't actually go in the rec center. We were there for the skate park, which is super cool for kids and adults who skateboard or scooter. It's also beautiful scenery around the center!

Had an amazing experience with an event I attended. On Saturday, the staff was amazing! Very accommodating and attentive to anything the host was needing.

On set up day, did not have a good experience with one person in management. I was just an attendee helping with set up and was consistently spoken down to and spoken to disrespectfully, even when just discussing things with a coworker and not involving this individual.

All in all, great venue and wonderful staff other than one person we came across. Would still highly consider attending more events here!

Looking forward to seeing this facility once completed. It's much needed and a great location for it. This has to one of the best parks in the county (or State) as far as amenities goes.

Per cherokee county:
The first phase of the recreation center, known in short as “The Buzz” in honor of former Commission Chairman LB “Buzz” Ahrens, includes a double gym, open fitness area, climbing wall, two classrooms, aerobics/dance studio, a large meeting hall with catering kitchen and an office suite along with accompanying restrooms, mechanical, electrical and storage areas. The construction services contract also includes a secondary parking lot, pedestrian crossing to the park playground and infrastructure for EV charging stations.
