My experience with the Planet Fitness location in Statesboro has been deeply disappointing. I provided the facility with medical documentation indicating that I am required to wear open-toed footwear for health reasons. Despite this, staff members have repeatedly informed me that I am not permitted to exercise unless I wear closed-toe “tennis shoes.” On one occasion, when I made an effort to comply with the footwear policy (which is extremely painful for me), I was approached by the regional manager and informed that I was ‘wearing my shoes like slippers,’ an assertion that I believe was both unfounded and inappropriate.

A note was placed on my account that appears each time I check in, stating that I am not allowed to work out without closed-toe shoes, regardless of medical documentation. This has resulted in multiple uncomfortable and embarrassing interactions at the front desk. The manner in which these conversations have been handled has made me feel publicly singled out and unnecessarily scrutinized.

When I asked about reasonable accommodations, the manager at the Statesboro location informed me that none were available. I attempted to avoid that specific facility, but the note added to my account now affects my experience at other locations as well, making me feel continually targeted and unwelcome.

I joined Planet Fitness with the expectation of a supportive and judgment-free environment, but this situation has caused significant stress and frustration. I sincerely hope Planet Fitness reevaluates its approach to handling medically documented needs and improves its training on how to treat members seeking legitimate accommodations.

I enjoy working out at the Planet Fitness in Statesboro because
the gym is clean and well-maintained. It is easy to check in and sign up for the tanning bed and other amenities. The hours make it easy to work out anytime of the day I wish to.

I haven't worked out in a long time And I was dreading going back to a gym and listening to all the bars dropping on the ground and grunting and groaning of guys trying to show off. Planet Fitness is welcoming nobody is trying to impress anyone and they are just wanting a good calm workout. The app is great it tells you if it's busy or slow. The price is very inexpensive. The gym is always clean, the equipment is always in great condition. Planet Fitness makes working out enjoyable.

Found out they have been charging an extra $15 on top of their monthly $25 for a LATE FEE! I don’t use the account and happened to look and thought it was an error! When did a simple GYM start charging over a 50% late or a late fee at all?!! It’s a GYM!!

So I’ve been coming to this Planet Fitness for 3 years. The other day I came and was told i couldn’t wear my crocs anymore. I came back today and was told I couldn’t. Is that something new because I’ve literally never worn anything but crocs every time I’ve worked out here and every other PF in multiple states. Never had a problem until the other day with a certain older lady. I have feet pain from the military and don’t wear sneakers often and definitely not when I workout because they make my feet hurt and cramp after wearing them for a while. Sneakers literally have a soft fabric top so it’s not protecting anything if a weight fell on your foot. At least the crocs have a firmer build and can be strapped in the back so I don’t see the issue. I was in a motorcycle accident last year and my crocs stayed on without being strapped and had no damage at all so I’d say they’re pretty safe. Either way I’ll be visiting a different location from now on.

Also they say you can’t have bags on the floor but I’ve seen 3 people carrying bags. Keep that same energy if it’s “policy”.

If I could put no stars I would. Please someone explain to me how do you get late fees added when the membership is set up for automatic payments. Not only is my account info on file but also my debit card. For 2 months there was no problem but the past few months I’ve been getting late fees added. They say it’s a problem with my account information therefore the payment doesn’t come out. Then they charge my debit card 5 days later and charge a late fee. But get this my husband has a membership which uses this same account and there is no problem with his payment coming out every month. Make it make sense. They say it’s my bank checked with them no problems, issues or stops. Then they say ABC Fitness does all the billing to check with them. Called them they say they have limited access to contact my local club. They can only verify the last 4 of my account information which is correct. And of course, they can’t remove any late fees that’s handled by the club. Management at the local club did “Nothing” to try to resolve the issue. Not only that I’m being charged for another month before I can cancel. Safe to say, I won’t be going back or recommending. Better be careful.

I have been going through this for months also since canceling my advice if u want planet fitness u better have all money and continue to pay bc they say money won’t come out of ur account even after u get written documents as well to cancel ur member ship it has been 2 months almost 3 months now since I cancel I had to do it twice because they kept taking out so I went back up there 4 hrs and 50 mins away cancel it again this time I asked for a written documents stating that as well. And they are still trying to make me pay more than what is owed not to mention I only been twice in the gym out of a whole month bc I found out I was also pregnant so I stopped going so my total in and out the gym was 2 days out of a whole member shipped I paid for. I really enjoy working out at the Statesboro Planet Fitness. I began my journey back in March 2023 and combined with a change in my way of eating and my workout at the gym, I have lost a total of 61 pounds. One thing I wish is for Planet Fitness to expand their space to allow for more equipment. Sometimes it is so packed you have to wait for a long time to use a machine. I have had to change up my workout schedule because Monday & Tuesdays it is nearly impossible to do a full workout. That would be my only suggestion for PF.

This place is packed on the weekdays. I can’t find a decent time to go except early in the mornings on the weekends. I love how clean it is and all the machines… however, I have walked out of there numerous times without getting in a full workout because it’s simply too busy. They really need to consider building a 2nd location so the main one isn’t busy… I didn’t even get a chance to workout tonight due to how busy it was. The crowd meter isn’t even accurate 75% of the time.

Love this location!
It’s so clean. Stations were easily accessible. Bathrooms were impressive. Overall a much better facility than the ones we attend where we reside. They have become not well maintained and have become more of a place for people to come hangout on their phones and are not kept clean.

There are a lot of machines that you can use. You have to be mindful of other people. Since there are so many machines, you don't have to wait unless it's the 4 in one arm machines. I can definitely say that I enjoy frequenting this gym after work while I am out of town working. The facility is extremely clean with staff making their rounds what appears to be every 30-45 minutes to vacuum, wipe down and pick up litter. On top of that the staff I have shared conversations with appear to be knowledgeable and polite and make the experience feel authentic as opposed to being talked down to like I have encountered at other gyms. Most of the time there is plenty of stations and machinery availible to workout on so there is rarely too long of a wait to workout on something specific. On top of all of the above the cost of entry only being $10 a month (in addition to $36 for a startup fee) is a steal especially in this economy. Unfortunately with the low cost of entry one will run into the occasional rude, egocentric and/or clout chasing member(s) that will either be at a station on their phone or making a fool of themselves but these persons usually weed themselves out. All in all 5 out of 5 rating, would highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay fit on a budget!

BEWARE CLOSING ACCOUNT IS A NIGHTMARE! Enjoyed going to planet fitness for 3 years in Statesboro however, I have recently moved and followed all steps to close my account (I.e certified letter, close form, etc) and they continue to charge my bank account and now credit card for monthly club fees. I have even spoken with the club manager Deangelo who assured me my account was closed, and I continue to get charged.

From the early morning go-getter to the late evening de-stresser, Planet Fitness is a great place to meet your needs for staying active! I will say that the facility is absolutely amazing, having been here several times it is awesome. Adequate equipment, clean and relatively well maintained. My 2 star rating comes from watching people become frustrated with the policies this franchise has in effect. I do not understand why a business needs an ACH setup for an account if you have credit card info. It was explained to me it was to ensure that people pay for their membership. Wouldn't it be just as feasible to make a members fob inactive if they were delinquent in their fees. That being said I personally know two individuals who are currently trying to cancel their memberships. It is tantamount to an act of congress to cancel this membership. It has been frustrating to watch and honestly its comparative to theft in my opinion. For those who are dead set on joining go for it just be forewarned and caveat emptor.
