I thought this was gonna be fun activity to do with my friend but it turned out to be a very unpleasant morning. I live further away and this morning specifically was heavy rain so even tho the gps said I’d arrive by 10:57 due to weather which is out of my control I arrived at 11:07 just to find a locked door. The receptionist came out and mentioned they had a policy which would be great if they brought more attention to this policy. When I mentioned that this policy was not clear when I purchased the class she said “oh yeah it’s somewhere on there.” She then said that I could book another class and I mentioned I live far away, instead of offering a refund she gave me an email to reach out so someone I don’t know for my money back. Overall will never be assisting Pilates. I was really looking forward to this.

Power Up Pilates is truly the best Pilates studio! I absolutely love the supportive and welcoming community they’ve built. Every instructor brings their own unique energy and teaching style, so each class feels fresh, engaging, and challenging in the best way. I always leave feeling stronger, motivated, and inspired!

It is ridiculous and super annoying when you arrive right on time but if the class is already started, you can't get in anymore. What is the point being on time if that no longer determines whether you can be let in and it is just whenever the instructor starts. It does not make it easy to people who try to get off work and do pilates during traffic time. It just makes it more stressful to go to pilates with zero tolerance on arrival. Ridiculous rule by ridiculous owner.

Arrived at 5:01 PM for a 5:00 PM class, only to find the door already locked. Considering many clients are coming straight from work and dealing with inevitable traffic, locking the doors exactly at start time is unnecessarily rigid. Most classes are still in warm-up at that point or haven’t even started, making this policy feel more punitive than professional. It’s also inconsistently enforced; I’ve seen other instructors open the door for late arrivals without issues. I could understand if it was a recurrent issue but this was my first time arriving 1 minute late, and the instructor was someone I’ve done many classes with so I was surprised. I’ve been attending classes here for over 2 years and I have never felt like my workout was so outrageously interrupted by someone arriving 1 minute late. I’m disappointed by the lack of flexibility and courtesy, and I won’t be returning.

I LOVE PowerUp Pilates! I’ve gone to multiple classes at the Johns Creek location and had a great time every class. I’ve been to tons of other Pilates studios around north GA and this is my favorite company and studio. Randi, Melissa and Sharon are great teachers. They know so much about the human body and each muscle/part of the body that every exercise targets - super knowledgeable ladies. I’ll be back for sure!

Absolutely love Power Up Pilates!
Instructors, comprehensive app/scheduling system, location, front desk, equipment, class times… I have nothing but good things to say!
Highly recommend calling & scheduling your free introductory session if you are new to Pilates or taking a class if you are looking for a new studio.

Best Pilates studio ever!! There is something here for everyone. The classes are all levels and so inclusive! Such a welcoming environment for everyone looking to practice Pilates. Recently, I have been absolutely loving sculpt classes with Gitisha! I get a great workout that is both challenging and stimulating. I love how Gitisha provides modifications, but also encourages you to push your limits. I always leave class feeling strong and looking pumped! So glad I found this gem!!

This studio had me hooked because it not only caters to my pilates reformer fix, but they are constantly mixing it up!
Also,
They do have a strict be-on-time-or-the-doors-are-locked policy, but this motivates me to get out the door sooner, so I don't waste the trip or be embarrassed for getting locked out.
However, both the instructors and owner understand that life happens, and there is a grace period. They have made my day/week on many occasions where my booking or arrival time wasn't perfect.
It has been so fun to see this studio blossom since their opening weekend almost a year ago! Every few months the owner will throw in a new perk like Bring-A-Friend week or my membership now includes up to 4 yoga classes every month. It has been very hard to quit this studio given all the wonderful people, atmosphere, and bonus perks!!

I can’t say enough good things about PowerUp Pilates! When I first started, I was completely new to Pilates and a little nervous, but the instructors made me feel so comfortable and supported right away. The classes are the perfect mix of challenging and fun, and I’ve noticed such a difference in my strength and confidence. I’ve enjoyed it so much that I’m now working toward my Pilates certification—something I never thought I’d do! This studio has been such a positive part of my fitness journey, and I’m so grateful I found it.

I’ve been attending PowerUp Pilates since it opened last month, and I absolutely love it! As someone new to the reformer, I appreciate how instructional and supportive the teachers are. They take the time to explain movements clearly, which has made the experience both fun and educational.
The studio’s connection with Lift Yoga is a huge bonus. With my Pilates membership, I’ve been able to mix in yoga classes, adding variety to my fitness routine. The class schedules are incredibly convenient, offering plenty of options to fit into my busy days.
I’m so happy this studio opened in Duluth—it’s been a game-changer for me!

So glad I found this amazing studio. The instructors are super knowledgeable and keep the classes fun yet challenging. I started looking into Pilates due to stiffness from years of weightlifting. I tried several other studios but didn’t stick with them because I didn’t feel like the classes were really doing anything. After my first class at PowerUp, I felt a difference even walking to back to my car. I’m right under 10 classes in and shocked/amazed by how much better my body feels. The classes have really helped me with my weightlifting as well - I feel stronger and less prone to injuries. Highly recommend!

They have open cubbies for your keys, shoes, and other belongings. My oil-brushed Birkenstock got switched with someone after a class a month ago. I noticed it immediately, reported it to the instructor, and gave the sandals to Lori, the studio owner the next day, hoping she could give them to the sandals' owner when she brought mine back. After 2 weeks, when I asked for any updates, Lori told me the other person showed up with mine and they could not find her sandals. So the other person took mine back as a hostage. It was obviously their fault, for not keeping them in a safe place. After that, Lori was not responsive to my emails asking for updates. I went to see the instructor every week and asked if she knew of any updates. The instructor was very empathetic with my situation and tried to help me but Lori was defensive saying the other person was out of town and would come to the studio after that. She made me feel as if I was bothering her. After a month, my sandals were still lost and I did not get any updates from her. Then Lori sent me a picture of very old and broken sandals and asked if they were mine. They were not mine and Lori could not answer for who received them or if they were really from the other person. She even said she contacted the other person again and the other person would stop by the studio the following weekend. She also said, that the other person showed up when she contacted the other person for the first time which was a month ago, took hers, and left those old sandals. But the old sandals were not there until after 3 weeks. What she was saying did not make sense at all. When I told her what she was saying didn't make sense, she said she had a communication problem with me. what a pity on her! She had nothing but excuses for her nonsense and wanted to blame my English ability. I was educated here in the States and am a proud Korean-American. It was very obvious that she was just trying to get around and not being honest with me. Of course, the other person did not show up the following weekend. Why would she come if she took hers already? I lost my sandals. All I could do was to cancel my unlimited membership and not to deal with this anymore. I'm sharing my honest review here. It was such an unpleasant experience with the disrespectful, unkind, apathetic, and unprofessional owner. She was insisting that this did not happen in the Powerup Pilates but my membership was here and the yoga classes (Lift yoga + Body is next to the Pilates studio) were part of my membership. I'm sharing my experience with the owner so I thought it was proper to share this here in my review.

I recently started taking Pilates classes at PowerUp and love everything they have to offer. The equipment is very nice and the layout easy to follow. I have found the instructors to be knowledgeable and communicate with clear instruction, which I needed since this is my first experience doing Pilates. I have taken 2 Signature classes so far and look forward to taking Sculpt and others as well.
Also, reading thru others' comments about their policy to lock the door at the beginning of class, I am very disappointed that grown adults cannot take responsibility for being on time and I personally commend PowerUp for upholding a policy they are very clear about in all of their literature. Late clients showing up are disruptive to clients already there ... I think it is very easy to understand why PowerUp does this. Own up your ability to arrive on-time people!
Btw, I have spoken to Lori many times and comments about her are just point blank harsh. A business owner trying to build something that is consistent and helpful to the community should be praised, not put down. It takes a lot of commitment and bravery to do what she does and I respect her for it. :)

I am very impressed with Lori and the PowerUp ladies! The instructors are great and very friendly! I have enjoyed all the classes I have attended as every move has been different, and I break a sweat in every class, those tiny pulsing moves are no joke!
They are strict on their tardiness, so, if you are late, you will not be let in to class, so take plenty of time to get to the studio. This is posted on their info section so heed the warning!

I LOVE this studio! Gitisha is the best instructor! The class is a challenging full body workout but she offers modifications for all levels. I love that every one of her classes is different and we get to use all the equipment. I’m addicted to reformer Pilates and go 5-6 times a week. It has transformed my body!

First time here, and I arrived just three minutes late due to an emergency with my map not updating, which caused a delay as I had to find the place on my own. They wouldn’t let me in but still charged a $17 late fee. While I totally understand the need for a late fee, is it legal to charge it when they don’t even allow latecomers to join the class?

I absolutely love going to PowerUp Pilates and the instructors here! I had never done Pilates before, so I did an intro session with Lori and learned so much before my first class. The instructors are very attentive to any injuries or limitations you may have and offer alternative options for certain movements if they don't feel quite right. They're also great at coming around to everyone to make sure they have the correct form and are comfortable! I'm so happy I found this studio 😊

What a wonderful studio!
I’ve been attending classes at PowerUp (Johns Creek and Halcyon) for the past nine months, and it has truly been a transformative experience. As a newcomer to Pilates, I was welcomed with open arms by the instructors. Their kindness, patience, and encouragement have made my journey enjoyable and rewarding.
The small business atmosphere adds a personal touch. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced pilates go-er, this studio caters to everyone and is somewhere you can go where you’re known by name!
What sets this studio apart is their unwavering commitment to health and safety. They ensure the well-being of all patrons, and it’s evident that they genuinely care about each individual’s pilates progress and overall health.
10/10 would recommend taking a class here!

I have been coming to PowerUp Pilates JC since Lori opened the doors. I am a long time yoga practitioner, but I love the variation,
strength, and stability that Pilates adds to my movement practice. I take classes with Lori and Melissa regularly and love their style, creativity,
and focus on a safe, sustainable movement practice.

I am writing this as a frequent patron of PowerUp Pilates. Lori is by far the worst instructor I have ever encountered. Today was my 45th Pilates class and I brought my friend for her FIRST class. Lori was extremely rude and unhelpful for someone who has never attended a Pilates class before. If I had her as my first instructor I would have quit long ago. Try any other instructor or go to a different studio all together. They also do not answer their phone or provide any alternatives for classes you may have missed. As a minority, I was extremely embarrassed by her behavior. I will never book with her again
— Also, the owner changed her unprofessional response but I included the original linked below. Please note the difference in her tone between the response to me and other 1 star reviews.

I have been going to this studio for a while. I started at the halcyon location but I will NOT be returning to the johns creek or halcyon or any other power up franchise after interactions with Lori. After learning that she is the owner, I refuse to support a Pilates studio that does not prioritize the safety and comfortability of their students. Very disappointing!!!!!!!!!

I’m exceptionally disappointed in the way Lori treats other patrons of Pilates in her studio. To treat other customers disdainfully in front of the class is hard to witness, and even harder to rationalize. I’d recommend taking your business elsewhere if you’re looking for a welcoming environment.

I am a loyal member here but I never had an issue until now. I live 50 minutes away so sometimes there’s days where I am a couple minutes late. I was late by 3 minutes today and the moment I was gonna open the door it was locked and the pilates instructor Megan rudely stared at me and pointed at her watch. Usually when I am a couple minutes late they let me in and they understand but not Megan. I had to pay a fee because of how not lenient she was. I have no issues with PowerUp itself but this instructor did not make me want to come back here.

I really appreciate that this studio offers classes in the early morning and later in the evening, since I can't generally step away during standard work hours. The studio is kept very clean. Every instructor has been good at offering engaging and challenging sequences, so the classes never feel repetitive. I particularly appreciate the instructors who sprinkle in their anatomical knowledge and explain the "reason" for specific movements. You can tell they put a lot of thought and care into each session.

I love this studio! I’ve been attending classes consistently for about a month and can already feel the improvement in my fitness and Pilates abilities. The instructors are all fantastic and knowledgeable. They are also very kind—it says a lot about the culture when instructors take special interest in learning everyone’s names and ensuring everyone is exercising safely and honoring their bodies’ abilities. They create a safe space for beginners while still offering challenging options for students at all levels. The vibes here are great, it’s always clean and I look forward to class every day.

I booked a class via classmate and followed the directions looking for Signature Reformer, Johnscreek. I reached there and the board says Power up Pilates. And there was a place called Fitness Together next door too. I got confused and went in to ask if I was at the correct place. First thing there was no ome at the front desk. Secondly the instructor came upto me saying my class is going on. I asked nicely if I am at the right address and she just was not ready to help saying “ I don’t know if you are at the right place”. I was shocked and left. I checked again and then realized I was at the right place. I tried to go back in and she locked the door upon me. I was very upset and disappointed in her response.
