I’ve been a member at both anytime fitness & “the gym” in Cleveland. “The gym” has Nice staff, good equipment & you have a good amount of space to workout. I was a member here for about a year & a half before I decided to build my own home gym , but I would recommend “the gym” in Cleveland more then anytime fitness if you’re torn between the 2. Overall I’d give them a B+ & I had a good experience here.

EDIT: in response to recent reviews stating everything has changed under new ownership/management, this review reflects experience with the current childcare, as well as experience with the current owner, as well as my personal opinion as a certified personal trainer. The prices also reflect a change with the current owner. It was previously more affordable, and commensurate with the size and quality of this particular gym. Remember, if anyone tells you "don't think about it, just do it," you should definitely think about it.

The Gym of Cleveland is decent for a hole in the wall gym if you squint. The problem is that they are trying to charge premium gym prices for an experience that does not live up to the cost.

At a base price of $35/month, they are charging more than comparable gyms (such as Dahlonega Fitness Center) and more than considerably better gyms like One Life Fitness. Add to this the cost for childcare at $15/month (it was $5/month under previous ownership), which is, again, the same as the cost for One Life's childcare, which has an expansive area for the kids as well as a minimum of two workers at all times.

The next issue is maintenance. There have been numerous issues over the years with water, A/C, equipment malfunctions, and more which always took far too long to resolve.

When I finally cancelled my membership, it took two months (and multiple calls to the owner) to get them to stop charging my account. Additionally, there is the question of the qualifications of the personal trainers. Which I encourage any interested parties to research for themselves prior to signing any liability waivers.

Overall, for the cost/benefit, there are multiple other options which offer better value and experience.

As someone who has been a member for almost two years, just know the bad reviews were under the old owner.. since Chad took over recently the cleanliness and remodeling has begun.. Child care & tanning too! I’ve traveled nationwide and his rates can’t be beat especially with NO CONTRACT NECESSARY! Very laid back environment with all the equipment needed for beginners or pros!

I see a lot of old reviews complaining about prices and cleanliness, but let’s be real—this is a small-town gym, not a big-box corporate chain. They don’t have the same revenue as a Lifetime or Onelife to replace equipment every year or have a massive staff on-site 24/7. If they charged less, more things would be broken, and with only two staff members, they’re doing the best they can with what they’ve got.

That said, things are changing. The Gym is under new management, and Chad has already made big improvements—cleaning up, fixing equipment, and creating a better lifting environment. He’s invested in making this place better, and it shows.

If you’re looking for a real gym with a solid lifting atmosphere, support local and give it a shot. The Gym isn’t just some cookie-cutter fitness center—it’s a place where people come to put in real work. It’s only getting better from here!

UPDATE: I spoke with the ACTUAL owner, Michelle, and promptly resolved the issues. I recommend working with her, not Adrian, with any concerns.

Owner was unwilling to work with me on cancelling my membership after moving. After a phone call, he said he would email a form for me to fill out, but that I would still be charged another month. After 2 days, I received the email and file but the file would not open, despite trying with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and the built in applications on my computer. I followed up and asked if there was another format he could send, and it has been almost 3 weeks with no response. At this point, I will be charged 2 extra months that I shouldn’t have been because of lack of follow through on the owner’s part.

I had a decent experience utilizing this facility but am not impressed with the follow up.

This gym is great! It has everything I need. Chad the personal trainer is knowledgeable, friendly, and positive. He helped me make a plan, learn how to use the equipment, checked my form, and got me motivated. I'm so glad I paid for a session with him.

Purchased a 1 day guest pass, gym was awesome. Great power lifting equipment. Women’s restrooms were super clean. The gentleman at the desk was super helpful in checking me in and helping me setup some of the equipment. If you’re traveling and looking for a gym, this place is pretty cool! Also, if you’re willing to pay for a fast food meal and McDonald’s or a drink at a bar..you can at least pay the gym membership for your health lol

This gym will definitely try to scam you out of money. When you want to cancel a membership and can’t make it there due to moving the owner will laugh at you over the phone. It’s unprofessional. Oh and also I’ve never seen the equipment being cleaned and their showers are nasty.

Called for pricing and went to the website both said $40 per month. So I go up there to sign up and the guy hits me with a $60 sign up fee, a nonrefundable $50 key fee, and a $20 gym maintenance fee. Complete waste of my time. Why not just be upfront with the fees and save people the trouble?

We have been members for over a year now. There is not much upkeep at this gym and it is very dirty. The same pieces of equipment have been broken since I signed my contract January of 2022. There are only 2 treadmills that work well and one of them has been broken since I started as well as multiple other pieces of cardio equipment. There are very few gym options in Cleveland so I chose The Gym but I am VERY much overcharged for the poor quality of this facility. There is a sink next to the bathrooms that looks like it is full of dried blood and other gunk. It has never been cleaned out since I have been there. Safety is also a concern. The front door is locked and you have to scan in to access the facility. But lately there has been a man entering and exiting through the rear entrance. Very concerning especially for females that workout early in the morning or later at night.

Fantastic gym. I spent a year or so here and was able to make tons of progress for myself. They have a vast amount of equipment (and it's always clean!) The people here and employees were all friendly and nice. It's a great environment for anyone.

The Gym is a good gym. It's a bit on the expensive side, but most gyms that are open 24hrs are...
They have a very good selection of equipment, though they are a liiiittle bit light on 45lb plates, especially if you like to do something heavy; gotta basically rob the whole gym if you want to leg press 1080.
If any ladies are considering the gym, but are concerned about being there at night; there are cameras everywhere in this place. Go anywhere in there and look towards a corner. Not to mention, you have to have the key card to get in after "open hours" end.
All in all, I give The Gym two thumbs up. 👍👍

Edit: Rating has changed due to it being more of an error with the contact form on the front page of the gym's website. The contact tab up top actually sends emails through while the front page one just emails you back the stuff you typed up.

While I was there, everything was nice and fine. Never went in the day but the workers were super polite and it never felt intimidating. I'm giving such a low rating though because I've moved to another state and have tried contacting them to remove my subscription but no one ever answers the phone during work hours and their site never actually sends emails to them. What I'm now left with in my situation is them taking money out of my account after I just managed to get back into the positive with the bank. All I wanted was for them to cancel my monthly subscription at the end of the month and they didn't do it.

Ive been a member since dec 2017.Upon my forst visit the staff there was and still are very friendly and helpful.They greet ypu witha smile everytime you walk into thier doors.The equipment is all up to date,The bathrooms and showers are always tip top.Everytime i go into the gym and its during staff hours there is always someone cleaning somewhere.Ive been a member at another gym and never saw this nor got the kind friendly welcome i get there.Ive taken my grandkids into their day care section, and as we leave these kids always ask do we get to go back .they are just awesome with kids as well.Thumbs up to you guys yall are great.

I really feel like I've found my fit for a gym. The folks there (Ally, Chris, and the staff) are all pleasant. The people that attend are from all walks of life, all shapes and sizes, and all ages. The gym is open 24 hours, clean, and well lit. There are always plenty of machines in good repair available to me. It is also a convenient location. I have recently hired Chris as a personal trainer, and that experience has also been very positive. They also offer deals/discounts pretty often, so be sure to ask. I would highly recommend.

This gym has everything needed for a great workout. Calisthenic equipment area, freeway area, pin weight machine area, cardio group fitness and the management nice. Meaning very personable, not like most gyms where there's no personality at the front desk. It feels like a second home! They also give free Fitness consultations, so you'll know how to use the weight equipment.
