Working with Jen over the past few years has been truly life-changing. Her classes and one on ones have empowered me to move with less pain, more freedom, and a greater understanding of my spine. Before Jen, I thought my scoliosis was βno big dealβ but had no idea how to get out of the chronic pain patterns I was constantly in. Now, I have so much more knowledge about how to move through everyday activities with new strategies and good body mechanics and can tap into healthy patterns in my work teaching, performing, and massaging. Yes, I still have pain- but I donβt feel stuck. Jen cultivates a fun community of scoliosis folks and is always up for investigating new questions and new approaches for true wellness in motion!

Jen is a magnificent, caring instructor whose Zoom classes are an essential part of successfully managing my scoliosis. Over the year that I've worked with Jen, my mobility, strength, balance, and overall outlook have improved significantly. Since she has scoliosis, she has insight into what it's like to live with asymmetry, and generously shares her knowledge and expertise in improving the quality of her clients' well-being.
Jen is a gifted, empathetic teacher who successfully conducts a class for several students--via Zoom--while closely observing our form and respectfully providing corrections/suggestions. Her form tips use imagery that helps you execute the exercises correctly, protecting your spine and/or fusion. You can tell that she truly cares about her clients, as she remembers our curve patterns and tailors feedback for our individual needs.
Additionally, Jen provides guidance on how to safely rig up equipment so you don't need to purchase a Swedish ladder. She'll also offer alternate exercises if you're experiencing discomfort.
I've always been active and want to continue to remain so into my senior years. Working with Jen will help me realize this goal and avoid surgery!
I've been attending her Saturday Pilates classes for over a year and eagerly signed up for her new weekly Strength Training class. Access to her video library has allowed me to practice on a daily basis (shorter and longer videos, that work into busy schedules).
I've taken Zoom classes before but Jen's are different. It's like you're with her in Boise. I look forward to her classes, as I always feel relaxed and physically good afterward.

After years of doing traditional exercise led to back pain, I needed to focus on exercises that accommodated my spinal fusions. I feel so fortunate to have found Wellness in Motion and Jen Gormanβs online classes! Jen is a knowledgeable, engaging, and compassionate instructor who creates challenging yet accessible classes β and provides modifications when needed. Jen cares about her students and helps everyone in the class to learn more about their fusions and to exercise safely and effectively.

Absolutely work with Jen! I began 3 years ago and have appreciated and loved all of Jen's classes. She not only knows a great deal about our curved and fused spines, she continues to study all he time, bringing new and revised information to share with us in class. She is sensitive to each person's needs in the classroom while she teaches and can point out what each person needs to change or do for their individual problems. While some of the movements might seem easy, over time, they strengthen muscles that you don't realize are so important to our spinal health. I love all Jen's classes and her videos as well. When I first began with Jen, I couldn't lift a bag of groceries or walk more than a half a block. I can now lift 2 very heavy grocery bags, 40 pounds of salt pellets, 30 pounds of bird seed and walk for miles! My back has gone from totally atrophied to muscles that I can control...and I never thought I could! Thank you Jen! Try her out, I think you'll love her work as well!

I highly recommend Jen to anyone with scoliosis! I was having issues with my sacrum, pelvis and lower back before I started seeing her. They have improved immensely, plus I now have remedies if they bother me. I particularly appreciate that Jen has helped me improve my posture and movement patterns and keep my body upright as I age! She takes an individualized, whole-body approach and is able to communicate her incredible knowledge about scoliosis and anatomy in an easy-to-understand way. She is also a lovely person - kind, non-judgemental and positive. I always feel better both physically and emotionally after a session with her!

I was fortunate to find Jen, and she has really opened my eyes to movement and how our spines can be supported. Jen is passionate about supporting people with scoliosis and spinal fusions, but she is also a really caring kind person. I love working with Jen!

I practiced Yoga and Pilates for many years before my spinal fusion surgery and was afraid I would never be able to do so again afterwards. My physical therapist recommended yoga studios that specialize in back care and that's how I started doing online Yoga with Jen Gorman, and then also Pilates. Jen is a great, caring instructor who provides so much valuable information on the physiology of scoliosis and spinal fusions and I have learned how to have a great practice while adapting to my post-fusion body. I also enjoy her weekly videos which help me practice on my own. My body feels better than it has in years as a result.

I have taken back care classes from Jen since 2019, both in-person and virtually. Her yoga class was originally recommended to me by a physical therapist who was helping me with thoracic and lumbar issues. What a godsend! While the classes have been small group, Jen pays special attention to each participant and provides individual instruction to ensure correct and safe form. She also is big on ensuring we understand the anatomy and science behind the movements. My weekly sessions allow me to maintain better health -- my whole body is in much better shape because of Jen's classes!

Jen has helped me so much to regain my mobility after spinal fusion surgery. I have so much more awareness of my new body, what it's capable of, and what I need to work on to improve. I have done yoga in person and pilates virtually with Jen, and she is kind, knowledgeable, patient, and a forever student of self. She truly understands what students with back issues struggle with. Working with Jen is a blessing in my life.

I'm so grateful for Jen and her classes. I have taken in-person and virtual classes from her for back care in general. She's super knowledgable, diligent, and helpful. I honestly don't know what shape my back would be in if I didn't take her classes. She keeps up with research and finds different ways to target specific areas and muscles. She takes the time to correct you to make sure you are doing poses safely, and even in a group class, you feel like you get one-on-one attention. I highly recommend Jen!

I am grateful that my Schroth physical therapist recommended I work with Jen to manage my scoliosis. I have been taking Jen's virtual pilates class for about a year and it has had a big impact on my everyday life. I have learned to make corrections in my body position as I move throughout the day. I now have more stability and less pain when I am exercising, walking, sitting at my desk, and completing chores. I am still amazed at how much Jen is able to help her students virtually. She is able to direct each student individually and advise us on subtle changes that have great effects. To top it off, Jen is truly a delightful person to work with.

Jen Gorman's virtual Pilates program provides a unique therapy for my physical needs due to scoliosis and another neurological condition which affects muscle strength.
In Chicago, I have access to Jen's extensive skills via Zoom. I have greatly reduced lower back and joint pain, better posture, improved physical endurance and much stronger core. The more that I put into Jen's follow-up suggestions, the more improvements I experience.
Also, because my physical needs are met, I have less anxiety and stress.

Jen Gorman is responsible for me no longer suffering back pain from my scoliosis, sciatica, and stenosis.
Boise's gain and Chicago's loss of in person privates, but happily Zoom has kept her in my world. You'll find Jen meticulously observant, while kind and generous in delivering cues to improve your well-being. I am impressed, too, by her constant pursuit of the latest findings for improving back care.

Working with Jen is truly a pleasure. I first started working with her in person in Chicago, taking her Yoga for scoliosis classes. The pandemic upended things, and we went to Zoom classes. I was skeptical about doing a Zoom class, but Jen has made it work and I feel I still get the personal attention and the correct cues to successfully participate in the class.
Jen as taught me good body awareness , her knowledge of back care and scoliosis is endless, and she is so willing to share her knowledge .
Jump at the opportunity to work with her!

A few years ago I had a cervical spinal fusion after a fall. I became very cautious and did a minimal amount of exercise. It soon became obvious that soon even walking up the stairs would be a chore. I went to a nearby gym, explained my injury and found Jen Gorman. I am a very lucky guy. Jen is an expert, having had fusions herself and then going on to a career in dance and training. Jen very quickly established trust. Trust was the key for me. I knew she would never make me do anything I could not do safely, however, Jen did have me doing things I thought I couldn't do.I soon found that I could. I got stronger, had much more energy and was able to do more and more with no pain or further problems with my back. I train regularly now, jump, run and play and don't look back.Thank you Jen!!

I had the pleasure of taking Jen Gorman's yoga for scoliosis class for 2 years in NYC. She has that magic 6th sense that great teachers have, knowing the cues and micro adjustments that each student needs. In her class I was able to find strength through the legs and lift through the pelvis and torso. She also has great insights on how to work with scoliosis in dance technique. I look forward to her workshops whenever she is in town.

I have tremendous confidence in the training I receive working with Jen Gorman. Prior to starting with Jen just a year ago, I had been skeptical working with trainers who donβt really understand how the body works and how my body works specifically. Jen applies her extensive knowledge and experience to design a specific regime for me to build both strength and flexibility to address various back and hip issues including scoliosis and spondylolisthesis. Equally important, Jen has helped me to better understand my ailments and how to incorporate various exercises and movements into my everyday life, not just when working out.

Working with Jen Gorman has been life changing! Her attention to the personalization of her "Wellness" plan helped me to build strength where I needed it, and helped to repair when that was needed as well. Her dedication to discipline and building a custom plan, that was easy to follow at home when the time was right, made my ability to continue the great work she had begun easy and successful. Jen was consistent in her encouragement, tips, and most importantly knowledge of the many ways to build and keep a body flexible and strong; at any age. The process of working with Jen has been a complete pleasure and was tremendously valuable!

I found Jen when I was living in NYC and had a bad sciatica flare-up. She worked with me and taught me how to properly stretch and strengthen my back and core via a personalized plan, which included yoga as well as strength training exercises that I could also do on my own at home. Jen was patient, knowledgable, and kind, and I am happy to say that after working with her I've been flare-up free for the past 3 years :) I can't recommend Jen enough!

Jen is truly amazing. I did personal training with Jen in Winter 2018 to help me prepare for my upcoming wedding. From our first session, Jen really stood out to me from her understanding of the body and how to comprise exercise sequences that were efficient and effective. Partway through our training, I experienced a back injury, which lucky for me was Jenβs specialty. I truly would not be where I am today without Jenβs guidance, gentle pushing, and support- and look forward to working more with her in the future. I would 100% recommend her to anyone who is looking to increase their fitness with someone who truly understands what you need as an individual.
