This review is LONG overdue! I kept putting it off because I wanted it to be perfect...almost like a letter of recommendation :)
I like and respect Renee that much. She has been my trainer for several years-starting at a local gym she used to work for. I am SO glad she is now out on her own.
Renee can create any program you want...and re-create as your goals (and possible whims) change. She has progress monitoring technology so you can measure smaller, less obvious gains as you continue working with her. She keeps your workouts varied, which is great for overall health and functionality as well as maintaining interest levels. Of course, it's harder to know if you're getting stronger since you're not doing the same thing every workout. That's why her magic scale is so helpful! You see the smaller changes right away. Trust me, you are getting stronger and healthier with Renee.
If you're not sure what you want, Renee is great at assessing what your immediate needs are and helping figure out longer term goals. She looks at how you walk and move and determines where you may need some balance (one of my shoulders is usually higher than the other) and what preliminary moves you may need to initiate a work out (I am usually hunched so we open my chest).
And, most importantly for me...there are some days I am just exhausted and unfocused. So I ask Renee for a stretching, rolling out my muscles, calming and centering workout/session. I used to think I should just cancel my session, but now I know I can trust Renee to do something that is immediately restorative for my body/health/mindset (they all go together). I always leave those sessions feeling relaxed and renewed. And glad I didn't cancel and ignore my body's needs that day.
Finally, Renee is really responsive to any ideas YOU have. I like to read about various exercise and health strategies, and she is happy to work them into my routine and tweak them in a ways that makes sense for my age and capabilities. She explains the pros and cons and whatever modifications she makes when I bring her ideas.
Renee is definitely the most knowledgeable and flexible trainer I have worked with. I always feel supported where I am at any given day and secure in the knowledge she will work with MY needs in the moment and to obtain future health goals.

Renee was super helpful in my training leading up to my first half marathon. I had hip flexor tightness that was causing knee pain on my long runs. Renee took a look at my stride and hip mobility and quickly identified my issue - glute/hamstring under-activation. She provided a number of exercises to help activate my glutes before my runs, which helped enormously in avoiding knee injury. Highly recommend her! Super knowledgeable

Highly recommended! Renee takes the time to get to know you and understand your needs and goals. She customizes your workouts to what you need, which for me has ranged from correcting muscle imbalances and improving posture, to strength training and functional fitness. In the 5 years that I've worked with Renee, I've lost, and kept off, over 25 pounds, and significantly improved my body composition with more lean body mass and less visceral fat (not easy for a menopausal woman!) More importantly, I feel better than I've felt in years, and am confident in my ability to age gracefully by remaining active, healthy, and strong.

I’ve been training with Renee for over a decade! She is the best! Not only is she knowledgeable but she truly listens. I just came back after having surgery and told her my limitations. She made sure to adjust my workouts so I can stay safe while still working towards my goals.

Rene provides personal training tailored to my goals. She takes a professional and kind approach in each of my workout sessions. I now have more energy and am gradually toning and have even lost a few pounds! I have been training at Alida for a few months now, and plan to continue. The facility has a good variety of equipment and weights! Scheduling has never been an issue for me.

I have never loved gyms, but I LOVE working out with Renee! She completely personalizes my workouts, works around my schedule, and creates a warm and welcoming environment in her sun-filled studio. As someone who has spent years in a big box gym, something always felt missing. An avid horseback rider, I was looking for functional fitness (not into aesthetics) to improve my overall balance and targeted strength. I cannot express enough how much I love these workouts. I have been working with Renee for 5 years plus. The community that I have been apart of is above no other. These classes are so inclusive; we work together, encourage each other, help one another and of course laugh. There is never judgement , however we are always there to push each other to a higher level, whether it be more reps, a higher weight, or trying a challenging exercise. I have been muscle building/toning with this trainer for years. She has a great music playlist that keeps the motivation going for the whole workout session. I participate in a group class with other women from a wide range of ages. She accommodates and alters positions/moves depending on the person’s physical capabilities. The trainer always makes sure we are doing the moves correctly, so we don’t hurt ourselves. If you want a workout that will leave you challenged, sore and feeling accomplished, come visit Alida 126.
