AVOID this worst place ever. Where theft and unthinkable abuse take place. Yesterday Kathi called the police on me, claiming that I allegedly sit in the restroom for hours and use it too often, and that I am not at my own home. I received that message when I had long left the gym and was at another address. She never even spoke to me — she simply called the police and said she would not return the money. This is theft, because I paid for a membership so that I could use any club, anywhere. Besides, I have health problems that prevent me from using the restroom as quickly as a soldier, and I am a woman — I need time — but even so, I certainly was not in the restroom for hours; that is a lie. She did not send any rules that mention restroom time, she did not send video proof of hourly restroom visits, she simply blocked me from this club that I attended often, sometimes every day. I won't even mention that in one of the stalls there was not a single square of toilet paper for a week, the restroom was periodically dirty, there was a puddle on the floor because of a cheap, poorly installed shower, and once the toilet overflowed when someone tried to flush. I urge everyone who reads this review to find any other club, because such disgusting behavior and cruelty must be punished."

I’ve been coming to this gym for years, and one of the biggest reasons I’ve stayed is because of how well it’s run—thanks in large part to GiGi at the front desk. She goes above and beyond every single day. Whether it’s keeping the gym spotless, making sure equipment is in order, or greeting members with a smile, she truly makes the place feel welcoming and cared for. BATE -and- SWITCH. We made our expectations clear, and AF staff lied to us. Karissa told us we would not be harassed in any fashion regarding masks the day we joined. We even joked about comparing the relationship of masks in this gym to that of Fight Club - we do not even talk about it. That was a lie. AF has given into the mob and will now be requiring masks beginning Friday. This morning, Tommy approached my boyfriend during his workout to update him on their new mask policy - the EXACT scenario we wanted to avoid and we were promised by Karissa would never happen upon joining. Today both Karissa and Tommy did everything they could to make my request to cancel our memberships very difficult. I restated that we only joined this gym, leaving our other more affordable gym memberships behind, for the sole issue of mask policy and therefore I now need to cancel my memberships. AF advised the issue is "out of their hands," to which I said I understand if they do not have the authority to help me but then they need to provide contact information so that I may escalate and resolve on my own. Tommy retorted "No, I'm not giving you anything." It became clear to me that Karissa did not want this going over her head, as she finally approved the cancellations remotely. During and after the cancelling process, Tommy proceeded to hurl insults and accusations against me as an individual person, nothing to do with memberships or masks, seemingly in an attempt to hurt my feelings. My boyfriend and I find Tommy's difference in behavior towards each of us quite alarming. Tommy certainly did not speak this way to my boyfriend this morning but seemed to enjoy putting me down as he laughed and smirked through his comments against me this afternoon. Tommy had the option to stay silent or make small talk during the couple of minutes it took to complete the cancellation process, but instead chose to act inappropriately. I would have preferred to end things on a lighter note and have our memberships cancelled without conflict by Karissa after a conversation addressing the policy change. However, AF staff attitude was as disappointing as the gym equipment: smells of sewage in the morning, no resistance on the highest setting of the row machine, ineffective fans in the tanning booths and so on. Again, we only joined this gym for the mask policy prior to 11/20.

I like the gym, but they need to have someone monitoring how long people are in the showers for. Waiting to use one right now, and one dude has been in there for over 45 minutes. Wouldn’t be an issue if there were more than 2.

Whoever runs this place needs to stop being stingey and put the AC on. Like WTH? I’ve been to multiple Anytime fitness locations and this has to be the worst of them. Limited equipment and the temp hardly differs from the temp outside during the morning. Then when the suns out it’s even worse since they have all that window front. But they don’t turn up the AC.

My favorite Anytime location in the area. The gym is never overcrowded in comparison to Planet & LA fitness. Its always easy to get in, get a good workout in, and get out. The staff is very helpful Agyei does a great job of keeping the gym clean and answering any questions I have while i'm there. I prefer this gym over the closer options in my area, I would definitely recommend.

Very clean gym, staff is very welcoming. A lot smaller of a gym than I’m used to but it works out good because it’s not very busy which is good because I’m able to get my workout in without fighting a crowd for equipment. The only thing I wish this gym offered was more of a variety of plate loaded machines specifically for chest and back exercises.

I like this very gym but I'm mad now because when I registered 2yrs ago ,I was told that I can use anytime fitness anywhere. Just 2months in chicago now and the gym manager stressing me with several email that I have to transfer my membership to Chicago and my contracts in palentine is till June of 2022.
Has anyone experienced this before? Even when I asked him what's my limitation to use your gym ,he has no answer, his response was that I frequent the gym enough to be their members lol. He said I'm under paying because anytime fitness is a franchise 🤷‍♀️

The perfect gym for those who know what they’re doing and like being around others with the same mindset. All the equipment you need and none that you don’t.

Staff is generally hands off but keeps the facility spotless and welcoming.

All regulars are tolerant of each other’s individual choices regarding mask wearing, which makes for a relaxed and non-hostile environment unlike other, larger gyms.

I will continue to recommend AF palatine to anyone in the area.

Great community and member focused gym! My husband and I joined after leaving LA Fitness where we had no connection to the gym or members. Anytime Fitness Palatine has you feel like family, Tommy the gym manager welcomed us in with a prayer on day one when he noticed my cross necklace and Christian faith, truly felt like a blessing to become part of this gym. I’ve also benefited from using the personal training , Samantha is fantastic, she has helped me build muscle in my legs and glutes and completely made me more confident in looking forward to leg day! Anytime fitness in palatine is awesome! When I first walked into anytime fitness I felt very welcomed by there staff and they gave a great tour of the gym. They also answered all of my questions and gave me feedback if I’m doing a workout wrong. Before I started at anytime fitness, I never liked working out or I was scared to feel judged. After a few weeks I started falling in love with the gym. Now I’ve been going for 6 months and it’s my happy place. The reason it is my happy place is it’s not just the staff that’s friendly. All the people that workout here are very respectful and friendly.

First the sales team/manager lied promising they weren't going to have a mask policy. Now they have decided on 11/20 they are forcing a mask mandate which is stricter then other gyms in the area. As for the equipment it is all pretty beat down and the adjustable bench seats look and move like they are from the 90s. For how much you are paying in fees and monthly membership cost you get way more bang for your buck at planet fitness, la fitness, or xsport and it doesn't smell like ***. Overall disappointing gym and staff would not recommend getting sucked into this scam.

Do NOT sign up at Anytime! It should be called “Extra Fees ANYTIME”. The club is small and the equipment is OK - the same gear can be found at any other center, and you won’t have problems with extra CHARGES at sign up, during, and when finishing your membership! I’ve been a member at most of the fitness centers in the area over the years and never experienced the BOGUS costs and fees as Anytime charges. Save yourself money and headaches – GO elsewhere! **Saw your response "Owner" and only have time to say every thing I said was absolutely true and I NEVER EVER used bad language once with you EVER and wouldn't. Further I even spoke graciously with you when saying "you were probably just doing what the corporation told you to do." (which I believe is ABC Financial ) So, lying only serves to show the problem there on your end. (If anyone has any doubt, people should see other reviews that express the same issues I have expressed here.) Clean up the way you are billing people and be fair. What does it matter if you smile while your still messing people over at the same time. THAT would be a great place to start while trying to help people.**

Been a member of many gyms, in fact, when I started working out here, I was a member of 3 other gyms. I’ve stuck with this one because it’s clean, has just about everything I could want, the members are awesome and the staff is top notch. Especially impressed with my trainer, Zach Bemis, who is knowledgeable, on point and fun. I highly recommend Anytime Fitness Palatine!

I was a member for 18 months with Anytime Fitness Palatine. The gym itself is decent and not crowded most of the time. However, the quality of service dropped drastically since I signed up. They do NOT care about their customers.
As I had to relocate out of country before my contact ended on Nov 4, 2018, I intentionally provided a 60+ days notice to notify Anytime Fitness that I do not wish to renew it and also confirmed that I only needed to pay until Nov 4, 2018. I had to send multiple emails each time in order to get one task done - to ask for the cancellation doc, to get a confirmation of receiving the completed doc, to confirm the cancellation request is processed, to check whether the key fob needs to be return etc. / And I knew this was going to happen.... of course, they did NOT deactivate my account and I was being charged for the monthly fee on Nov 5, 2018 - the very next day after my contract ended... I sent 3 emails in 5 days but no response at all!!!!!!!! I then remembered the financial company that charged my bank account was ABC Financial so I copied the customer care team on my 4th email to Anytime Fitness. ABC Financal customer care rep stated that they cannot deactivate my account (Anytime Palatine has to do so) and they charged my account on Nov 5, 2018 as my account is still shown as “ACTIVE”. They agreed to remove my payment method but Anytime Palatine would still need to deactivate my account to prevent future charges and to refund the monthly fee they charged on Nov 5, 2018. It’s been 11 days and Anytime Palatine still haven’t responded at all.
Just want to share my disappointing experience, it’s your choice to use this gym.

Clean, well maintained, and not terribly crowded outside of rush hour. Free towel service, water massage, and tanning if that's your thing. The personal trainers are courteous, and very personable. Everyone i've encountered was willing too "work in", and share equipment.

I've been to a few gyms in my time, and this one is my favorite. If they had 1 more power rack this place would be perfect. Highly recommended for anyone.

The facility is conveniently located and the folks that workout there are nice and considerate. There have been issues with cleanliness (running out of wipes, the equipments has lots of dust on it, bathrooms are hit or miss as are towels). This wouldn't be a deal-breaker deal except the owner has the audacity to charge members (twice a year) for cleaning fees. While the owner responded to cleanliness complaints via email, I think he could be more pro-active. My advice would be to hire a cleaning person to come in daily and wipe down every machine and clean the bathrooms and it would be a good value for the money.

I love this gym. Staff is super friendly and nice, the facilities are constantly being cleaned, they have tanning, private showers and towel service (which I'll admit is one of my favorite things about it.. nothing like a wet towel in your gym bag all day!). Will Open July 2015. I talked to staff over the phone (June 2015) in regards to this Palatine location. There is going to be 2 showers, some restrooms, 24 hour access w/ card, and a separate area for scheduled classes. Memberships are 33-39 dollars, I was told. There will be 70 dollar enrollment fee for people who do not sign up before the opening of the location. The call-taker was very polite and extremely knowledgeable. Before even going there, my first impressions are optimistic.

It sound like the location is going to be store-front gym. It's very doubtful that it'd have things like swimming or basketball court, but I was told it did have tanning, which would fall under privileges of higher paying members ($39/mo. service). So far, it sounds like a gym comparable to Snap Fitness, but perhaps a tad larger.

I will try to update my review later, and will likely become a member, due to the fact the Snap fitness in Palatine has no showers. The Snap in Fox River Grove has showers and I have nothing bad to say about the Fox River Grove Snap Location; it's a quality place. I just want to find a closer gym w/ showers and adequate weight machines, pull up bar, and free weights.
