Had a terrible experience here with my 4 year old. The swim teachers would be visibly annoyed and incredibly rude when kids would lose focus. They would roll their eyes, yell at them, and freak out on them. After 4 weeks - we left & decided to go to Bear Paddle swim school. Not only are those swim teachers more kind & considerate of the kids, they also seem like they’re teaching them more than this school did. The swim teachers really need to be evaluated with how they work with young kids.

However, I would like to add that Sam is great with the toddler group. If my 4 year old wasn’t treated so badly by the other instructors, we would’ve kept my 2 year old in Sam’s group.

My kids have regularly been attending Aqua Tots for almost a year now and I couldn’t be more proud of them and even more grateful for the support and professionalism of the staff working there! Today was an experience I don’t think I want my son to have. Amani the instructor wasn’t really taking gentle care with my son versus the two young Arabic boys who was in his class as well. Very dissatisfied with the experience of Amani. Will never book my son with her again. I assumed since she was younger she would give grace because my son has not been back within a year due to basketball season and soccer. However, it is noted who I will schedule my son with for his instructor.

Year review in June of 2024:
I love the interaction and the consistency it gives my son with swimming. However, I am not sure if its management is just teenagers but their customer service is horrible. Only one young lady with the awesome nails and an older woman that are very sweet, not sure of their names, but everyone else has a very horrible attitude when communicating or relaying communication. The instructors are perfect with the ones that he has had thus far. Wish they had a little bit more etiquette with customer service.

We just started lessons at Aqua-Tots and have been so impressed with the entire experience so far! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Instructors gives attitude when you ask them questions and then proceeds to discuss about you to the co workers in front of your face. Has no patience whatsoever, are extremely expensive, and don’t give makeups if it’s not called in. Extremely unsatisfied. Today was my child’s first swim assessment at this facility, and I am beyond disappointed. From the moment we arrived, there was no warm welcome, no guidance, and absolutely no effort to make us feel comfortable as first-time visitors. No one offered a tour, explained the process, or even attempted to provide basic customer service.

The swim instructor, Maribel Pedraza, was shockingly unenthusiastic and impatient. There was no energy, no encouragement, and no effort to make the lesson engaging or fun. For a place that’s supposed to teach young children, I expected much more warmth and care. Instead, my child was met with indifference, making this experience not just disappointing but frustrating.

I strongly advise parents to look elsewhere, especially if your child is under 10. This facility clearly does not understand how to create a positive, supportive environment for young swimmers. Save your time and money!

Caution (long): I was so happy when we found this location and for the most part have gotten good customer service up until today. There is a new policy that clearly shows they care more about money than wellbeing of clients, customer service and retention.

Yesterday I got a call within an hour of our class to let me know that it was cancelled due to an issue in the pool & it not being safe for the kids. I thanked Christina for letting me know and asked if it would be fixed by the next day cause we had classes for the rest of the week. She said she wasn’t sure if it would be fixed that day or how long it would take throughout the week but should have a better understanding within the next 2 hours. She is very kind and informative so my issue is not with her.

Today comes, I’ve been calling because there was no email or call saying that classes were resumed for this evening and a make up for both my kids is supposed to start within an hour and a half of them opening up for the day. I finally get in touch with Madison just 30 minutes before the class is scheduled and tell her I’ve been calling trying to see if classes were in fact resumed since there was no communication about it only that a teacher got changed and wasn’t sure if that was an automated message. Long story short she goes back and forth with me saying that there’s no way she can issue the make ups for them even though the issue yesterday was their fault and no further communication.

She says she is a manager but I’m looking forward to getting a callback from another manager or just seeing them in person to get this issue resolved, hopefully. If not, I am going to pass along this review, as well as the other recent ones, to my parent group and go to another location until we finish our classes and then look for another company all together.

I have four kids in swim school at aqua tots Orland park. Honestly they were in a previous school that was horrible and I was reluctant to try another, but am I ever glad I did. It all started with Kaela who showed me around and explained how everything works, she was very professional but also had such a fun and happy attitude that I was immediately impressed with her. Many times when I’ve come in with the kids she comes over says hello, gives hugs, and even sits on the floor to be at their level and talk to them, she is really amazing. As for the instructors we have been very lucky to have Jensen, we have had a few others but l have never seen such interaction with the kids and genuine love for her job, not to mention she really really knows what she is doing.Our kids have not always been on their best behavior but it never deters her from helping them learn and they just love her.she makes lessons fun while still teaching them. Some of the other staff members have also been very helpful and friendly when they see us !! Shout out to Gianna,Kristina, and Kaitlyn, you are all the best. Thanks, Sincerely LisaL

It was going great at first but I felt that one of the instructors/supervisor was picking/pushing on my daughter more than the other students in her group vs. Helping out her original instructor with all of the students collectively. I am glad I pulled her out of the class because due to that supervisor, my daughters whole demeanor changed anytime she was approached by the supervisor. It was as if she was no longer going to enjoy the class anytime she approached her.

Safety has gone way down hill, removed my kid from this program. None of the front desk staff wears a mask anymore. None of the parents are told to wear their masks, and worst of all the instructors, who work face to face with your child, used to wear face shield and now wear nothing.

When asked if their staff is vaccinated their response was "we don't disclose that information". AKA no they aren't all vaccinated.

I found another business called Bear Paddles and when I called them they were adamant all their staff are required to be vaccinated and all where a specific mask to protect the children.

I have been going here for a few years but lately I have noticed that no one at the front desk wears masks. And whats worse some instructors dont including my kids instructor. Also alot of the parents are not wearing masks in the waiting room ( not a fan of this and very disappointed) Im pregnant and as such immunocompromised. This is right around the holidays when covid is spiking. This is just poor management. And there is always high turnover here. I will be canceling and not coming back. Pool is always clean, staff is friendly, they are great with kids. I love this place! My kids have learned so much in a short period of time. My two and four year olds are progressing so due to the patience and knowledge of the instructors. Ms. Maya is amazing with kids and has the best personality for this job. I also love the diversity in swim instructors. As a black mom I that it's important for my kids to see people who like them teaching them something so essential as swimming. This place rocks and if you want your child to learn quick and safely this is the place you should be. Also, class sizes are super small so kids get a lot of one-on-one attention with the instructor. Prices are fair, cheaper than a lot of other places. Check them out if you're lokking for swim lessons for your kiddos.

Absolutely do not go here if you want your child to be safe! They have over 50 people interacting indoors and masks are not required or even encouraged! The instructors do not wear masks, which is understandable given the pool activities, but they also did not mandate vaccinations for their employees or instructors! They also would not disclose whether our instructor was or was not vaccinated. This is a high contamination risk and I say shame on them! When I asked about it they told me, “we do not mandate our employees get vaccinated because it’s their body and their choice.“

Im going to be honest, we love aqua tots and we’ve been coming since our son was old enough to take lessons. But honestly, unless you have the same teacher over and over the consistency is not there. He ended up time and time again doing the same things he already knew how to do, and most of the time, at a lower level with a new teacher. It began getting repetitive and a waste of money. It’s a shame because he’s learned so much over the few years and loves coming here, but it just doesn’t make sense when there’s not consistency amongst the teachers. Definitely something I would recommend to management to improve on. But it’s still a great for beginners!

Staff was extremely rude and standoffish. My family and I arrived for a lesson and we were initially greeted by someone friendly, however after going to grab my son’s fathers swim shoes the other staff were extremely rude and canceled our lesson.

After letting my child get dressed and his father we were told they could no longer participate in the swim class. We both said okay and while they got dressed the swim instructor stared at us until we left. Making us all extremely uncomfortable. I would not recommend bringing your family or children here. This is not a welcoming environment I was really dishearten by the way my family was treated today.

Shady and unsanitary place, watch out! In order to open up class space for new enrollees, they moved my daughter up two levels in a two week period. She was originally a level 3 biweekly with a 630pm time. They moved her to level 4 on 6/18, and then abruptly moved her to a level 5 on 7/2. They had no 6pm time to fit my work schedule for the level 5 class. They bill a month in advance, and refused to allow me to drop to once weekly and just do Sat for July. They refused to refund me for the fact i couldn't come any other times, and they require a 30 day cancellation. They also refused to let her stay in the level 4 class for the month i paid for already. So they basically screwed me out of $80 for 4 lessons she can't attend. I never would have paid for july had i known this. This coming from a place that charges $160 a month for lessons, but when a child vomits in the pool they just move the kids to the other side (which i personally witnessed). Stay away from this place!
