Truly love this gym, great for hardcore training, some equipment is in decrepit condition though.

It’s not crowded, everyone is friendly, and I feel comfortable really pushing myself hard without feeling like I have eyes on me.

I absolutely love this place. Come here if you’re serious about training.

B&W Gym is the real dealβ€”no frills, just gains. This place is a haven for powerlifters and anyone serious about lifting. The equipment is old-school but solid, and the vibe is all about hard work. If you're tired of the corporate gym scene and want a community that pushes you, this is your spot.

B&W gym is the best kept secret when it comes to Chicago weight lifting areas. B&W is the gold standard when it comes to working out and getting to where you want to be. B&W has a full basement that spans half of a city block. The basement includes every piece of free weight and machine equipment a lifter could ask for. They even have a strongman room complete with stone boulders and a giant monster truck tire!

The price point is unbeatable, and the people are down to earth. You won't see any influencers or video taping being done here. This is an old-school lifting gym that is for made for anyone wanting to improve.

Great variety of equipment for all niches of lifting. Pricing is very reasonable considering the equipment the gym offers.

I've been going here for years. Great community, facilities, and equipment. Lifters who train here are focused yet courteous. Come here if you're serious about lifting. That said, it is a little grimy, so check it out if you don't think that'll bother you.

You can smell the blood and guts from up stairs. This is a gym for a hardcore lifting man. You can tell many athletes have trained for various athletics there and trained well. The atmosphere can not by even touched in this classic Chicago gym.

Classic example of a good gym!! It’s not fancy but it’s ALL the basics plus much more. The classic posters on the walls are a very inspirational touch. The staff is really informative and helpful. The people at this gym are respectful and kind. This is a 80s vibes gym ( I guess) only iron and fans without TVs to distract you

This gym is for lifting heavy things, getting stronger, and achieving your goals. It isn't a treadmill farm or fitness club nor does it claim to be. In my experience the staff is exceptional, the personal trainers top notch, and the members are respectful and focused.

If a little dirt scares you, this isn't the place for you. If the idea of having body building, olympic, power, and strong man equipment available for use sounds cool and exciting then come on in and get to work.

This place is my new favorite place in the city. Easily the best place if you're training for strongman competitions, but also great if you can't stand commercial gyms and don't need all the frills of a normal gym. If you're looking for a country club style gym with towels and complementary after shave, then this isn't the place for you. If you're looking for every piece of equipment you could possibly need in a no nonsense atmosphere straight out of "pumping iron," then this is your gym.

Also, they are cash only to boot, which is nice when you don't like to have to deal with all the BS paperwork and questioning getting your card off file in a normal gym.

Dealing with the kid that works there would kick you out for not having a guess pass. (Guest pass dilemma)(1 month prior .(first month).never received and poor info on received passes supposedly issued per month)(received mail 8 days ago of this months guess pass)

End of it, I have a month left and not having a guess pass for one session leads to being thrown out by a kid that i saw near everyday consistently at the times I went .. the sight was pathetic .. result near expected .. Poor handling.

This gym is full of Olympic lifters and powerlifters , no a/c and one overdeveloped kid

I've been lifting here with a trainer for about two years now. I've put on about 20 lbs of muscle and have done well in USAPL competitions. This gym is legit. It's NOT Planet Fitness. It has all the equipment you need to train seriously, some you don't and some you've never even heard of but the most important thing is the community. The people at B&W are really friendly and accepting of everyone and are always ready to give you a spot if you need it. It's the best basement I've ever hung out in!

One of the best gyms I've attended. You immediately feel that this is a place to get strong and get all kimds of gainz when you walk in. B&W won't be confused with a Planet Fitness by any means. DBs go up to 120, several types of bars specifically for Oly lifts, deadlifts, etc. There are trap bars, SSB, cambered bars and access to chains and bands. There are 3 platforms for Oly lifts and/or deads. In a separate area there are at least another 3 platforms specifically for deadlifts.

If you don't have a power lifting belt, there are community belts to use. Chalk is allowed and dropping heavy weights isn't frowned upon.

If you are a powerlifter, Oly lifter, body builder or strongman (access to logs, a yoke, various stones, farmer's handles, axles, and a circus DB)...this is the gym for you hands down. Even for the cardio bunnies out there, this gym works for you with access to a few treadmills, rower and stationary bikes.
