I’m just starting my third month of personal training with Jerrold at Beach Street Fitness. The overall results I’m seeing in two months are beyond what I expected. Having dealt with lifelong knee problems and increasing mobility issues as I’ve aged, I was desperate to find a place that could offer functional strength training, while being mindful of past injuries. Jerrold has done just that!

Within the first month, I noticed a significant reduction in knee pain and a noticeable improvement in my mobility. Everyday tasks like climbing stairs or stepping in and out of the bus no longer make me worry that I will fall. Jerrold's expertise and conscientious approach to training have been invaluable in building both my strength and confidence in what my body can do.

If you’re looking for a gym that will genuinely support your long-term health journey, I can’t recommend Beach Street Fitness and coaching with Jerrold enough.

Came to Chicago to celebrate my wife’s and I 8th anniversary. I reached out to Jerrold to see about dropping into “his” gym.
The word “Hospitality” is the definition of this man. He literally had a powerlifting meet the day we met up gain 24 hour access to this facility.

Super Dude, Gym, location, and great equipment. Highly recommend.

If you are looking for a gym to just zone out and do “your” programming, look no further. Or if you need a coach, Jerrold is definitely the coach for you!

Recently joined BSF as I wasn’t my happy with my experience at another local fitness establishment. I came to Beach Street Fitness as it has all the equipment necessary for multiple styles of training, great rate for open gym hours, and to support a local business owner who wants to give back to community in the name of fitness and wellness. As a physical therapist I appreciate that from Jerry, the owner, who also has taught me things I can implement into my own training programs. The facility is also very clean, has good temperature control, and a bathroom with shower! Couldn’t recommend enough!

I have been training with Jerry for 3 years now and boy am I glad I have! Jerry’s mission is centered around his people first mindset and nimbleness which is evidenced in his ability to tailor individual training plans based on your personal goals. Jerry has helped me transform my body and has developed my comfort in strength based training which is fairly new to me. Jerry balances my workouts with a mix of strength, abdominal and cardio/HIIT exercises. Jerry is a natural leader, energetic, and understands fitness, the body, and healthy lifestyles more than any fitness instructor I have worked with. He encourages me to want to work harder and “not to suck” as he often says.

I was a client at Beach Street for about eight months. Jerry was a wonderful trainer. We outlined our goals over the first session and checked in regularly on progress, we were both very clear with our expectations. I had little experience in the gym and Jerry would take care to walk me through not only what we were doing each session but why and how it fit into the larger plan. He has a lot of patience, especially when correcting my posture. I appreciated the constant support and his flexibility with my schedule. I had a bit of a payment issue where I was overpaying for a short time but Jerry brought it to my attention and corrected the issue with a comped session, I doubt I would have found the same transparency at other facilities.

It is very clear Jerry is passionate, hard working, and wants his clients to succeed. Had I not relocated, I would still be a client. He provided me with my workout plan that I still use. Working with Jerry gave me the experience I needed to maintain my fitness and would encourage others to check out Beach Street Fitness.

I’ve been working with Jerry (owner/trainer) for over the last 7-8 months and have been VERY happy with him as a trainer as well as my results so far. Knowing that he is a trainer and not a physical therapist, he has guided me towards getting back in shape and provided me movements/exercises to help with chronic back pain. He is easy going and encouraging with his training and explanations for how muscle groups work, and actively listens to my feedback, which I have not always gotten with previous trainers. If you are serious about your physical health, you owe it to yourself to reach out to Jerry to see what training he can offer to help you!

I've been working with Jerry for 5 months.

From the moment I met Jerry, I knew I was in good hands. Jerry took the time to understand my fitness goals, assess my current fitness level, and develop a personalized training plan that was tailored to my needs. Each training block, Jerry outlines his theme and long term vision for where he believes I can grow.

Above all else, Jerry stresses proper form and technique, which has helped me not injure myself during my time working out more seriously. For each exercise, if I don't feel my muscles activate as they should, Jerry helps to diagnose what could be going on and provide suggestions and alterations to the exercise to make sure that I'm comfortable with the movement and that I'm feeling what I should be feeling.

I highly recommend a personal trainer, and Jerry is among the best that I've had the pleasure to train with.

I was client with Beach Street Fitness for 7 months. Although, the owner is seemingly quite nice and clearly passionate, I had a very poor experience.

In my experience, their coaching and treatment of clients is questionable. It lacks progress tracking and diet plans - both of which are critical to fitness success. And as a client I personally experienced retaliation at the end of the relationship (Details below).

• Beach Fitness didn't track my progress - even when I stated I wasn't seeing results. With past coaches, I've done weekly weigh-ins and progress pics. However, with Beach Fitness there was no element of progress tracking. We did not set any goals in our initial consult or track any progress week to week. For several months I would state that I wasn't seeing or feeling changes in my body. However, there was no effort to begin tracking or determine the root of the problem.

• He does not like to do diet plans - In our initial consult I asked him about diet plans. He declined to do one for me saying that it's not his wheelhouse and he has to "get to know a client first" before doing one.

• Refused to share my workout log for the past several months - After we stopped working with each other, I asked if I could have my past workout logs to help me remember where I left off. He responded saying "You paid for weekly consultations and not rights to the programming." If you do decided to work with Beach Fitness, I HIGHLY recommend tracking your workouts on your own personal device and not their shared Google Drive. In my opinion, this is a form of retaliation…
