The community is something really special here. I happened to drop in to a workout honoring one of their members having a baby && another’s birthday which was celebrated by a cupcake at the end of class. The showers and amenities are wonderful and the gym set up wonderfully. There’s options in the class for all levels and the people are super friendly and welcoming. If you’ve considered starting your fitness journey, this is a wonderful place to make your fitness home. I’m just passing through the area but have dropped in a lot of gyms and this place is special. The coaches and owners genuinely care and put a lot into the people and the place. Also, the name is amazing. 🙌🏻👏🏻💪🏻

We recently moved to the area and have been going to this CrossFit gym for the past two months, and we absolutely love it! The community here is incredibly welcoming to all fitness levels. First time doing CrossFit for my buddy and I, and we absolutely loved the experience! Our coach Jasmine Garcia did a phenomenal job teaching us proper form and pushing us past our limits. She is the absolute best! The team atmosphere makes the (good) pain more manageable, and I highly recommend this place to any ex athlete looking to push themselves again. My best decision made so far of joining Big Shoulders CrossFit. Before joining, Brendan the owner was really nice to go through what is unique about CrossFit as I have never tried before. All the coaches are really talented and they look at your form very attentively, which is what we need if we are new to something. They check your form after starting the actual exercise patiently.
I highly recommend anyone who wants to try CrossFit as a beginner to give Big Shoulders CrossFit a try and it is going to be worth it!!

Joining Big Shoulders CrossFit has been one of the best decisions of my life. I was a little hesitant about joining a CrossFit gym because of preconceived notions (high injury rate, everyone is at a certain fitness level, etc) but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The coaches at BSCF really care about your success and take the time to correct form. Members range from all fitness levels, abilities and ages. A lot of effort is put in to creating a sense of community, encouragement and support. Since joining about 2 years ago, I have noticed a big improvement in my strength and confidence. I 11/10 recommend giving BSCF a try. You won’t regret it!

I am so happy i made the decsion to become a memeber at Big Shoulders CrossFit (BSCF). I've been looking into a program such as The 28 Day Challenge, as seen on social media. What i realized was that i need to do a program that is in-person with a trained coach. The coaches at BSCF have really helped me focus on my form when doing the exercises. Based on their feedback, i think the exercises have become easier to do, yet they are still challenging. The culture at BSCF it very welcoming!!! i am a new memeber at the gym (1 month) and i was introduced to the memebers at every session. I thought this was great to help break the ice, we all know for some folks its challenging to reach out, the coaches made it easy for me to do that.
The memebers were very willing to share their journey and i was impressed with what i heard. What's also great about the culutre is that memeber range in ages from 13 - people in thier 60s. It was great to see all body types, not everyone being "jacked". This made me feel more comfortable. I am amazed at the progress I have achieved, for example, it was challenging to do 10 push up, after 1 month i am able to do 10 push ups no problem. The amount of weight i can lift is also amazing. When i went back to work after 2 weeks off, people noticed the change in my body; before i started i had a small gut, now my gut is slimmer. I feel that I present myself in a better light, i.e. i have more self-confidence and I have better posture. As a smoker, the exercises are challenging especially with the breathing. What i have noticed since starting crossfit, I dont get the nicotine urges as often as before crosssfit and I am not as winded going up stairs. As a result i smoke less, if this keeps us, i can be a non-smoker after 38 years!!! If you want to experiece the same benefits and many more come give BSCF a try, the first session is only $25 and the memebership is totally worth it for what you get.

More than a month in and I'm so happy that I signed up with Big Shoulders crossfit. Every coach is very helpful in making sure the WOD is at your appropriate level while still making you work. And EVERYONE is very encouraging.

But if you also just want to come in, do the class and then head home that's also welcomed too. Starting from literally minimal to no experience, I'm excited to see where my body strength will grow.

I just wanted to get out of my comfort zone,work stress etc.
Brendon did an amazing job giving us the intro to the gym. I have done in the past bodybuilding, boxing and kickboxing, I’ve always been afraid in trying CrossFit and to be honest I love it.
Going forward to try the 60 days challenge which I recommend to any one, after the 1 to 1 intro(3days) I totally LOVE IT!!!!!!! Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed.

joined the Big Shoulders CrossFit 6 weeks ago, I was unsure about the outcome of the challenge since I have always struggled with diets. I have been struggling with overweight since my childhood: 15-20 lb over my ideal weight. When I moved out of my family house I was finally able to lose weight to the "ideal number". However, I was still eating unhealthy and the only thing I did to maintain my weight was to control my calorie intake. When I joined BSC my lifestyle completely changed in a few days, with the diet outline was super easy to still eat delicious recipes with some alternatives and not cutting any foods, it did not feel like a diet with all! It was not easy, with a job in the aviation industry and as a full-time student. To make it work I had to take the early class starting as early at 5:30 am. Initially was difficult to adjust to the early wake up alarms but after a few days I got used to it. Coaches were great, always pushing you to do your very best, and offering guidance to reach your goals. Classes were intense but worth it, and not time consuming.

I am glad I decided to start the 6 week challenge, it taught me discipline and commitment. I am grateful I had the opportunity to meet and train with the great people of BSC.

Started out at CrossFit on a six week challenge. From the first day All the coaches and fellow members were great and were very welcoming. It truly changed my life I had so much support that allowed me to get thru the tough days and lose 30pounds. Which for me is just incredible. The gym is clean, nice & organized. They are a lot of time slots open for classes to work around nearly anyone’s schedule which for me was always the hardest part. I would highly recommend big shoulders cross fit in a elmhurst. I wanna give a big thanks to the whole big shoulders team and everyone I met throughout the beggining of my health and fitness journey..After procrasinating for years I decided one day enough is enough. I came across the 6 week challenge online and immediately thought to myself, i feel like i can do this maybe this is my way of proving to myself that i can make a difference as long as i put my effort and time into it. I started the challenge at 290 and i am currently 260. All i can say to my self is why didnt i put my head into this earlier. I had heard of cross fit for awhile and wondered what the hype was about. I came to Big Shoulders wondering what could push my fitness to the next level. I felt I had been stagnant for a few years and needed something more. Prior to Big Shoulders I would do workout videos in my home or go for runs in my neighborhood. I knew of good healthy eating practices but never could put them in place. Big Shoulders changed that for me. The practice of cross fit at Big Shoulders became an enlightening experience that pushed my body to incredible feats and beyond my limits. I highly recommend Big Shoulders. As a fitness novice, I really like the workout classes. The coaches demonstrate the scale for building yourself up in each workout, and the variety of combinations keeps me engaged and coming back. I’m looking to build my endurance and muscle strength, and I think I’ve found the right place for it. I was never a fan of working out. The only way I keep myself put on weight was to play sports. After started working Full Time, I had no time to keep myself fit and Obviously put on weight.
I saw BSCF's ad on Facebook and wanted to give the 6-week Challenge a try and was also on my way home from work.
It has been 4 weeks into the Challenge and I have never felt better. The coaches are very friendly and helped me
lot to reach my goal. Initially, I felt the exercises were too tough and now I'm eager to do more.

I have skipped breakfast when I was late to work or woke up too late on weekends before starting the meal plan
that Brendan gave. It packed some perfect meals and desserts and I have never missed any meal thereafter.

I recommend you trying Big Shoulders CrossFit. I felt really great and the team has always been encouraging and
pushing me to get to my goal. Thank you very much to all the coaches at BSCF and also Brendan.

First time doing CrossFit. Wasn't sure if this would be for me. Well, was I wrong. Coaches are friendly, real and truly there to help you make your goals. They try to give one on one help during group workouts. The environment has a sense of family. Not just the coaches help and encourage you but other members do as well. It was good to see other members encourage me, especially the way more advanced members. You don't see that all the time. With great coaches, judgment-free zone and being part of a family. I come to enjoy CrossFit.

I would recommend you trying out Big Shoulders CrossFit. You might find that this is what you need to achieve your goals. I can't speak for other CrossFit locations but the reasons for my success at Big Shoulders CrossFit is due to great leadership.

I can't say enough about this crossfit box! The coaches are great. Eventhough the workouts and movements are tough, especially for beginners, the coaches make sure that the movements are being done safely and properly. I will be finishing my 6 week new you challenge tomorrow 2/16/19 and have lost over 20 pounds. The meal plan Brendan supplies is effective and easy to follow. Lastly, the community that comes with joining this box is top notch. Everyone is really supportive and friendly.

What a Kool gym !!! Ryan is a premium trainer. Ryan was able to transform my incompetent (and frankly dangerous) squat form to the point that I can now consider competing.
Can anyone say Olympic Lifting ?!!
Ryan is very patient and encouraging, and has a background and competency that provides me confidence in his instruction.
The Gym has everything you need, super clean, really knowledgeable trainers, and great classes at convenient hours. Online access to everything, sponsored by everyone, and if you don't have it- they sell it at great rates. Totally the bomb !!
