Update:
5 years later and I still love going to Bluprint!
The coaches (old and new) are super supportive and challenge me to reach my goals.

So grateful I came across Bluprint and had that intro call with Byron. Everyday I feel more confident and stronger - the coaching is top notch and the community is so supportive and just fun to be around - i actually look forward to going to the gym! The approach is holistic and has allowed me to look at my health beyond the work I put in at the gym. Looking forward to my continued journey and excited some of my friends have already come to join me!

I joined BP Fit in June this year and couldn’t be happier! The coaches are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and most importantly: passionate about what they do.

In the past, I’ve been in and out of gyms without much motivation to stay consistent, but BP Fit completely changed that. The gym is well-organized, clean, and has a welcoming atmosphere. I love the strong community feel here. The interactive classes and regular routines keep me excited to come back every week.

I rarely leave reviews but this is an extraordinary case. I was new to CrossFit and group fitness when I first joined BluPrint. The coaches taught me every skill and concept from scratch, and they truly cared about my fitness journey. The community here is so supportive that it’s impossible not to become friends with everyone! BluPrint has had a reallly positive impact on me the last 2+ years I’ve been a member. I have been a member of Bluprint Fitness for five years and counting, and I'm really happy that I stepped outside of my comfort zone and walked in for an assessment. The coaching staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive. The programming is challenging but scalable, making it accessible for beginners and more seasoned athletes alike. The sense of community is really unlike any gym I have ever joined before, and it's a big part of what has kept me coming in consistently. During my time at Bluprint, I have smashed personal records, learned weightlifting and gymnastic movements, completed some truly challenging workouts and gained more self-confidence, discipline and yes, bigger muscles and lower body fat along the way. I recommend Bluprint Fitness to anyone who wants to break out of a fitness slump and try something challenging, fun, and ultimately very rewarding both physically and mentally. Can't recommend it enough.

Blueprint is more than just a gym - it’s a community (and a pretty awesome one at that!). 2023 update - moved into a larger space early in the year, so facility is larger, and easier to navigate entry and exit with a space for changing shoes/getting ready that's separate from the workout area, which is nice. Additional back room avail for added space for mobility and stretching. Street parking is easy in the mornings. Still 5 stars.

2022 update - I've been going to Bluprint regularly for several years, and I came back to review because I don't want people to see my review and think, "oh, that's old" - it's still very much an exceptional business. Thoughtful coaching, adaptive to changing needs of the athletes, and fantastic community of folks with whom to work out. 100% recommended.

2020 update - the way Bluprint has adapted to the challenges of Covid19 is nothing short of exceptional. Excellent planning & strategy, consistency/reinforcement of rules, lots and lots of cleaning. Absolutely best in class.

The best crossfit box. Plenty of options, including indoor rowing classes and bootcamps, if crossfit isn't your thing. Great coaching staff, friendlyl and helpful, but willing to tell you when you need to get better at movements for your own safety and growth. Personal training available. Could not recommend more highly.

I have been going to Bluprint for many years it is a great box with a welcoming community. The coaches are very supportive, when I faced a tough injury (from a fall, not a work out!), they helped me reassess goals, scaling, gave lots of attention to my technique along with encouragement. Every quarter they check-in with with a template to map out goals. I haven't seen other gyms offer that type of detailed work to their members, its a really special space.

Couldn’t ask for a better gym experience! Came in with my wife for a free trial once and it was hard but really enjoyed it. After a couple months I finally took the plunge and am now a few months into my journey and I’m loving it. The gym harbors a welcoming vibe and the other gym members have been supportive and helpful. Hands-down the best CrossFit/community gym experience I've ever had. I signed-up for a 9:00am Saturday drop-in. 25 people were there for the partner WOD. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by 5+ dogs and 3-4 kids running around. 2 parents were pushing their kids in strollers for the run portion of the WOD. About 8 people came up to me to introduce themselves and welcome me. It was like a huge family and I loved it. If I lived in Chicago and close to the west side, I'd make this my CrossFit gym without a doubt!

Bluprint is my happy place! Joining this gym was my first exposure to CrossFit and I LOVE it. Bluprint is one of the best CrossFit/functional fitness gyms I’ve ever been to! I’ve tried a variety of CrossFit boxes in Chicago and various other cities, and this place is a clear winner for me.

The coaching is SUPERB, the classes are challenging (in a good way) and fun, and their welcoming gym community is unmatched. Great community of athletes. I love that this is a place where you can feel challenged and accepted regardless of your age, body type, or skill level. This is the most welcoming community you will ever find in a box. From the members to the coaches, the minute you walk in the door you are greeting with a warm smile and hello. You are challenged and cheered for as a group and as an individual here. Byron and Janelle are amazing owners and coaches. They are truly invested in all of their members but I must give a big SHOUT OUT to MaryRuth. I’ve attended her coached classes the most and she is so thorough with her intent in making sure you’re doing what your capable of. She sees when you are struggling and gives you instruction and understanding on how to make adjustments so you improve.

Bluprint is the real deal, ya'll. It doesn't matter if you have years of CrossFit experience or none at all (like me) -- the Bluprint team makes sure that everyone who walks through the door feels comfortable. Zero intimidation, attitude or ego.

The workouts are challenging and rewarding, the community is welcoming and the coaches are supportive, pushing every athlete to achieve their individual goals. This is a special community and most certainly my favorite place to spend my mornings.

Bluprint or bust! I have been at Bluprint now for one month and can't speak more highly of a gym/box. I came to Bluprint with 6 years of Crossfit under my belt. I had been community to my old gym up north for years but knew I had to make the change to a closer gym. Community was number one for me as I find that the biggest motivation in the gym. Bluprint coaches and members welcomed me with open arms. The space itself has tons of room with all the top equipment you want in the box. The programing is a great balance of endurance and lifting. I cannot express how much I love this place. If you’re looking for a safe, healthy environment with a great community and coaches that holistically care for you, this is it! I’ve been going to this gym for the last three years and I have made so many gains in all areas of my health (nutrition, sleep, water, and workouts.) More importantly though, with their help I’ve created a lifestyle I really love. It’s still not perfect and there are some weeks I just miss the mark, but I know my coaches are always there to help me get back on track. Joined in the middle of the pandemic when my previous box closed - Bluprint Fitness had been recommended to me previously by a friend.

Focused and professional intake process (a short phone interview, goal setting, and a coach to provide advice and guidance for the first 6 weeks).

Superior cleanliness and protocols in place to ensure safety.

All of the coaches are fantastic - each brings a different approach (some gymnastic, some Olympic weightlifting) but all of them are enthusiastic and encouraging - all of them want you to succeed.

The membership is from all ages and walks of life - everyone of all shapes/sizes is welcome - you feel welcome and a part of the team from Day 1.

In my experience some boxes are testosterone charged, weight-dropping, heavy-metal blasting temples of the PR. Not here.

I joined BPF during the pandemic a few months after my office and gym closed. Bluprint Fitness was the closest gym to my apartment and had great reviews. I didn't know at the time it was a CrossFit box, but it turned out to be a great surprise.

The intake process is a phone interview, goal setting, fitness baseline test and coach guidance for the first 6 weeks. After the 6 weeks, you assess your new baseline.

The box has superior cleanliness standards and protocols in place to ensure everyone feels safe.

As a busy professional, I struggled with consistently getting to the gym and writing my own workouts. The Bluprint programmed workouts took out all the guess work. Going into the gym is now the best part of my day.

The coaches do an amazing job explaining the movements and will work with you to get the most out of your workout no matter what your skill level may be. I’ve seen results and done movements that I never would have achieved on my own.

I’ve been working out at Bluprint for a little over 6 months now, and I could not have found a better fitness/wellness community in the area. The staff, athletes and programming are exceptional. From the moment you walk into your first workout you feel accepted and welcomed. I joined BluPrint in April of this year. At first, I was very nervous to join a "Crossfit" gym. I had belonged to a Crossfit gym many years ago and had previously loved it, but given how out of shape I felt, I was worried I wasn't going to be able to keep up in class. From day one, the coaches and other athletes made me feel welcome and I could tell immediately that this gym was a "judgement free zone." There are athletes of all shapes/sizes and varying abilities and this made me feel very comfortable. However, the one thing that I think is very different about Bluprint is that I feel the coaches genuinely care about my goals and helping me to achieve them. I think that because of this relationship, I want to not only make myself proud but the coaches proud as well.

It has been a little over 6 months since I joined Bluprint and the gains I have made have made me so much happier; both mentally and physically. My only experience with a crossfit gym was a buddy-day at a different gym and I was so sore for 3 days after I never wanted anything to do with it again.
However, I tried BluPrint with a friend and there is a 6 week "on-ramp" to help teach you and get you more comfortable with the movements. It was awesome.

Joining Bluprint was the best decision I've made in the last two months since I moved to Chicago. I'm currently one month into my 6 week initiation program and I honestly cannot say enough about this place. It's become my sanctuary while trying to live life through the pandemic.

The coaches and community are so welcoming. You get a "Hello darling!" from Coach Janelle the moment you walk through the door, closely followed by Bacon, trusty pup/gate keeper wagging his tail at you.

The single most important thing here is safety: technique and mobility. I was told that on my very first day, and I've lived it every day since. The class sizes make it so everyone has a chance to be observed and guided. The coaches really are here for YOU.

UPDATE 11/24/2020 - COVID 19 threw a lot of businesses a huge curveball and I am so impressed with how Bluprint has pivoted and adapted during these times. They made sure the community continued to have access to coach support and workouts using a variety of methods, while always keeping its members' health at the forefront of any decision. I know the continued access we've been able to sustain has tremendously helped my mental and physical health during these last 8 months.

I've been coming to Bluprint for several years and can't imagine working out anywhere else. The coaches have created a culture of positivity while pushing its athletes to grow, both physically and mentally. I'll admit that coming to Crossfit from a non-athletic background was scary but I honestly have learned so much about myself over the years that I can't recommend it enough, especially if you decide to try it at Bluprint. When you have coaches and a community that believe in you, you will be amazed at what your body can do. Oh and the programming is top-notch with proper warm ups and cool downs at every class and strength cycles, skills training, and endurance workouts built into the weekly schedule. I've been to several Crossfit gyms and this is by far my favorite one. The coaches are dedicated to creating a friendly, safe, and motivating environment. They've been great about communicating how they will bring top notch workouts to us throughout quarantine through zoom classes, remote workouts, and now socially distanced in-person workouts. I was nervous to come back to the gym once it reopened from quarantine but they've been meticulous about keeping the gym clean, making sure people wear their masks, and keeping us safely distanced from one another all while maintaining the integrity of the workouts. A co-worker had started going to Bluprint and couldn't stop raving about the experience she was having, which is how I first became familiar with it. In the span of 3 months I had sprained my lower back about three times working out on my own and knew that I had to try something different. I had always wanted to try CrossFit but was too intimidated -- very much this idea of "let me get really fit first, and THEN I'll start going to Crossfit!" But, being recently injured and looking for something different, I thought why not and decided to see what Bluprint was all about.

You start with the six-week onboarding program, which was really great -- definitely needed considering I was new to the space. But what really sealed the deal for me was when I went to class after a particularly nasty back tweak and Coach Janelle had made me my own WOD -- one that would allow me to go easy on my back and also participate with everyone else. I am pretty confident that the level of care I got during that class and the ongoing support I received from the rest of the coaches in the following weeks would have been rare at any other CrossFit gym.

Cut to two months later, I think I might be obsessed. Shocker! These folks care about your goals, want you to do your best, and want to help you every step of the way. I’ve been a member for 2 years, which is something I never thought I’d say about a gym, especially about a CrossFit gym. I was a cardio queen before joining, rarely ever picking up weights.
I decided to give it a shot - i was about to get married and really wanted to kick it into high gear. I met with the coaches about my goals and they made me feel excited and confident. I was afraid of weights and had no idea how to lift them properly, so I was really excited to learn they had a very thorough onboarding program. I learned so much in those first few weeks and the years after. The coaches genuinely care about their athletes. You can tell they absolutely love what they do. That feeling is contagious. It makes me work harder. And I saw it inspire those around me too. The community of the gym is warm and welcoming. Everyone helps each other. It doesn’t feel like a bunch of intense people trying to outdo each other. It’s people intensely trying to reach their own goals.
I love having a new WOD (workout of the day) to challenge me and keep me on my toes. You can’t possibly get bored at BluPrint.
Their class schedule was very conducive to my 9-5 job. I was always able to get in the class I wanted.

I moved to Chicago from Texas and have been a part of Bluprint for over a year. Out of all the crossfit/workout facilities I have been a part of, Blueprint takes the cake. They have built an amazing culture that sets it apart from most if not all gyms you will find. The coaches are knowledgeable, inspiring, motivating and funny. The programming is well thought out and easily scaled up or down with provided options. The sense of community and diversity is naturally positive and seen within all of the members.

Yes, this is an awesome gym WITH a heart. For the past few years that I’ve been a member of Bluprint, they’ve had a fun erg rowing marathon and karaoke (KaROWKE) to benefit Recovery On Water (a rowing team for breast cancer survivors). I still remember the 26.2 miles rowing fundraiser last year. I was a member of a team of four and as I was closing in on the second to the last 1K meter (we rowed a total of 42,164+ meters ) , this awesome Bluprint athlete, from another team, knelt right next to the erg machine and started giving me encouragement, support and tips on finishing it. I knew she’s an incredible crossfit athlete and a seasoned rower (rowed in college) but it did not matter to her that am a novice. She had this “you can do it” face to me --- an amateur.

This is the longest I’ve stayed a member of any gym, let alone a Crossfit Box. Why? -- I am made accountable for classes (you receive an email if you miss/cancel a few times); I learned food pointers/ideas/portion awareness from the SOGO challenge; the WOD (workout of the day) -- NEVER boring; every time you walk into the door of Bluprint there is always a Hello! from one of the coaches and they call you by name; I can bend my “bum” knee all the way down now (shout out to Coach Selby on Wednesday morning class), I’ve stuck to the morning session for over a year now. I’m not a very early morning person, at all; AND I am getting comfortable with being uncomfortable with the workouts (a year or so ago, I would have said…split jerk/back squat, what, me? burpees, why? (still least of my fav) deadlifts, really? rowing/ski/assault bike, omg!).

Bluprint Fitness is the Best Box in Chicago, PERIOD.

I started Bluprint CrossFit 7 weeks ago and I cannot recommended it enough. As someone who isn't an athletic person it was the best decision I could've ever done. The coaches at Bluprint help you understand the movement and can suggest modifications if they see you struggling. I joined the 6 week introduction program and absolutely loved it. I learned a lot of the basic movements in the training camps and slowly made my way to a normal CrossFit class. If you have ever thought of joining the cult of CrossFit fitness, look no further. I was skeptical at first, didn't know if I embodied the look or strength of a CrossFit-er, whatever that entails. What I love most about this gym is that it doesn't matter what your starting point is, we're in it together. The only person you are competing against, is yourself. Every time I come in, I push myself to be even better than the last practice and that's what being an athlete is all about. The coaches at BluPrint truly care about you and your well-being. Not only do they know your name and great you every time you come in the door, they tell you what you're doing wrong and praise you when you're doing things right. The class sizes are perfect and even when there are 20+ people in a class, you still feel like you are getting the one-on-one personal training experience. I have been a member of BluPrint for a little more than 4 months and I have drank the Cross-Fit Kool-Aid. My favorite part (other than the coaches/people) about BluPrint is the team mentality that the classes create. The workouts are hard but doing them with a team makes them 100% better. You are all suffering during the workout and having a team around you makes you work harder to complete the workout. As a retired collegiate athlete, I had struggled finding a gym that would create the same atmosphere as working out with your team. This would leave me feeling unsatisfied leaving any other gym. Truly a gem of a gym in Chicago.

I've been crossfitting for over 5 years now. Over the course of these 5 years, I've dropped in for workouts at gyms all over the US, have done week passes and two week passes and punch cards at various boxes, and I can say without a doubt that NONE come close to achieving the community atmosphere, coaching expertise, and programming balance that you'll find at Bluprint.

The coaches are knowledgeable and excited to work with athletes of ALL levels. Perhaps even more importantly, they place a premium on community. Everything at this gym is done with purpose and with an eye towards creating a cohesive, inclusive, community.

Unlike the other crossfit gyms in Chicago that I've been to, the programming at Bluprint is geared towards health and longevity rather than elite performance. I can go to class every day and get a great workout without feeling beat up all the time. If I ever want more intense programming, there are lots of open gym times to choose from, and lots of members who are excited to come in and do additional workouts.

I can't say enough good things about this gym and the ways that it has changed my life for the better. It's a great spot for everyone!!

BluPrint Fitness is the first gym that offers programs that are interesting, fun, challenging and not to mention, you feel like you’re getting personal training in a group class with the coaches checking on you and correcting your form. BluCru Members are friendly and welcoming, eager to include you, especially when you’re a Newbie and don’t know what to do when you’re asked to find a “friend”.

The most exciting part for me it that the exercises are always changing, even though you may be working on a specific movement. Then there’s community at the gym with games, challenges and parties.

I know I was horrified of having to jump into group classes, but I couldn’t stay in personal training forever. My Power clean was probably the worst Selby had ever seen and I thought I would never get that movement. I am still terrified at it, but it has improved a whole lot. So I took the plunge and realized that looks can be deceiving; group classes are a whole lot of fun with partners to push you beyond what you might think might be your limit.

BluPrint is the longest practicing membership I’ve had and exercising in this manner is a way of life for me now. I can’t imagine going without Strength and Zone in my life and the best place to practice that is at BluPrint Fitness. Fabulous instruction from the coaches and you just might make a few new friends while there.

Byron and Janelle and their team of coaches have turned a gym into a community that empowers individuals to succeed in meeting their goals. Accountability is key and something I didn’t really consider before joining.
I’m writing this as I complete my 6th week in Chicago and 4th week at BluPrint. Before moving to Chicago I had let my fitness slip and was not as good as I had been previously which is why i sought out this gym before leaving the UK. Byron reached out and was not pushy like other gyms sometimes can be, he was super responsive answering my questions via email and we arranged a time to meet in person the first week I landed.
Walking into the gym for my initial consultation was different to what I was used to, it’s an open setting with lots of different equipment and NO mirrors or instagram posers, Everyone there was working their hardest and enjoying it.
Byron talked me through the program and what his gym offers and I knew instantly I wanted to part of the “blucrew” surrounding me was people of all ages, sizes and abilities and everyone is deemed an athlete.
Every time I head to a class I feel excited and I enjoy going as the support I receive from the coaches and other members is nothing like I’ve felt before, even when I’m almost the last one completing an exercise the whole class cheers me on and I feel proud to have completed as opposed to defeated at being last which is what I would feel at other gyms. I always thought people who did CrossFit didn’t focus on technique but you will soon learn at BluPrint that technique is crucial and you will be taught the correct ways to do an exercise. Each workout is well thought out and has different levels depending on your ability, but ensures everyone trains together, which I enjoy and helps keep me motivated.
BluPrint has the coaches, the space and the environment in which you can achieve your goals, the results ultimately depend on how well you use all of the resources available to you.
I am excited to continue my journey with these guys, they are most definitely starting to become my home away from home

I have been doing CrossFit for nearly 3 years and have attended a handful of gyms around the Chicagoland area trying to find the right fit for me. I have been going to BluPrint for a year and a half now and love it! Yes, I *love* working out now. I like it so much, I even go on the weekends now.

The coaches and other athletes at Bluprint are very positive and encouraging. Byron and Janelle have built a great community at this gym. Having coaches that are enthusiastic makes a difference. After a day at work, going to the gym helps me not only physically, but mentally too.

First and foremost, is a focus on form. This is so important. I've worked with a lot of trainers over the years and it took a while to find ones who know proper form to both increase power and avoid injury. The slightest changes to a position make a huge difference. Before each workout, the coaches go through the form for every movement, further reinforcing it.

Coach Byron creates workouts that are mixed and never get boring. All workouts have variations in case you haven't yet mastered a skill. It is a non-intimidating environment, with athletes at all different levels. I cannot stress the last part enough. If you've never done Cross-fit, this is the place to go to learn and have fun doing it!

Bonus: the gym is also clean and organized. It's nice to always find weights in the right place!

I've always been a solo lifter, and stayed away from group fitness classes, but I'd always remained in good shape. But I started at Bluprint a year ago, and it's honestly been the best gym experience I've had in my life. The coaches take a personal interest in helping you reach your fitness goals and and encourage continued growth. I've broken through countless plateaus that I can honestly say I wouldnt have reached without the coaches. The programming is awesome, challenging and varied. The atmosphere of the gym (also mind you this is from a person who prefers to lift solo) is amazing. Dozens of athletes who come in with a positive attitude and help push and encourage you to be the best you. The facility itself is always clean and well organized, and they invest in new equipment several times a year. I would give bluprint 6 out of 5 stars if google would allow. Highly recommended.

Love the friendly welcoming atmosphere, the exceptionally clean facilities, the way the owners bend over backwards to help you, and the ease of parking!! Lots of classes offered. My favorites are the coached rowing workouts. Highly recommended👍🏻

This week marked my 6-month anniversary at Bluprint, and it made me realize that a review was more than warranted. I have been doing Crossfit for quite a few years and in January I found myself suddenly having to find a new gym as the one I was going to unfortunately had to close. I tried 3 different ones in the area before stopping by Bluprint, and none of them were bad but they also didn't feel like "home". And, for those who have done Crossfit before, you know how the community is probably the biggest thing in the gym. As soon as arrived there I knew they had done a tremendous job developing that community. All coaches know everyone by name, athletes are actually interacting with each other instead of making "small talk", everyone helps each other push through the workout, and you really got to meet people from the get go. Also, no one is allowed to start putting away their equipment until everyone is done - which is a big pet-peeve of mine from other gyms. Another plus is also how they are totally transparent and clear with the training program and what they expect from the athletes. Every Saturday we get an email with the program for the upcoming week and which cycle we are on at that time. I personally love to know that there is a very detailed thought-process behind the programming. I can't recommend Bluprint enough... seriously, just sign-up for a trial if you don't believe me. Oh, and you got to meet coach Bacon as well!!!

Did you accidentally let yourself get out of shape? And by "accidentally" I mean "willfully spent several months / years doing nothing except 12 oz curls like me". Let's look at my excuses for not joining a gym and why I'm so glad I joined Bluprint.

It's hard.
Yes. Yes it is. New routines, no idea what I was doing there, I was sore all the time. But so worth it. I have a routine, and the coaches encourage me to stick to it. They actually coach: they show you what to do and how to do it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Even for things I've done hundreds of times. It helps you learn and get better. That's what coaches should do. And the soreness, it becomes like a good friend who reminds you that you did something good for yourself.

Everyone there is going to look like Adonis and will judge me.
I'm not the only person rocking a righteous dad bod there and my guns are more of the Nerf variety. No one judges. We're all here to be healthy.

I'll hurt myself.
I've never been yelled at, encouraged to lift more than I could, or told to do something faster with poor form. I've been given positive encouragement, shown proper form, told to SLOW DOWN on movements to focus on form, etc.

Cross fit is a cult.
It definitely has it's own language (AMRAP, EMOTM, T2B, etc.) and it's kind of addictive. But you're not forced to eat low-protein gruel and watch indoctrination films.

I might die.
I mean, I haven't yet, so that's a good thing.
