Body & Brain Yoga Tai Chi is a yoga studio in Mount Prospect offering holistic wellness classes consisting of yoga, tai chi, meditation, and breathwork based on 5000-year old Korean traditions. We offer a variety of yoga classes for beginners and more advanced classes to energize and heal the mind, body, and spirit.

Went to an introductory class, and it was wonderful!
Very friendly staff and great instruction. It was my first time doing Tai chi and I was a little bit intimidated. But they went slowly and explained all the moves as we went along so I never felt left behind.
Very reasonable prices as well, $25 for trial class so it's easy to just try out. Highly recommend!

I’ve been a member of Body & Brain in Mt. Prospect for over a year. The Masters at this location are wonderful people who provide great classes of several types. I’m dedicated to the Strengthening class offered twice weekly - to be 3 times a week this month. The Strengthening class is and has been more than great for me. I’ve improved my strength with the excellent direction of the Master instructor. I’ve attended other workshops that helped my mental awareness. The Masters are loving with so much experience to share. I fully recommend this organization for everyone seeking physical, mental, and spiritual growth.

I found this place through ClassPass and may consider joining after my first class. The instructor was very accommodating especially when I did not have the materials needed for the class. I feel a positive change in mood and energy. The work is serious, but we have fun doing it.

I recently went for my first class and absolutely loved it. I did the Yoga and Qigong class - it was invigorating and relaxing at the same time. The energy and environment as a whole, especially others in class, were warm, friendly, and inviting. I look forward to returning regularly and attending some workshops. I sit at a desk all day and after just one class, my hips loosened up SO much plus I got the added bonus of an overall mood boost. I learned a lot and encourage anyone (no matter your age or usual practice) to come try this place out. My boyfriend, who isn't necessarily into this type of thing, went with me and he actually really enjoyed it as well. To say that I am more than pleased with my experience here would be an understatement. 100% recommend.

It has been exactly 3 months since I attended my first class. First, I must say I've had a good amount of experience with different exercise modalities that I truly enjoyed and gave me good results. I began taking Body and Brain yoga and tai chi classes along with their workshops about 3 1/2 years ago. I was also seeing their dietitian when I began at the first Orland Park Center. At that time I was using a walker or cane to help myself ambulate but since I have been working with Body and Brain Master trainers I have become a lot stronger and no longer need them.
I have switched Center’s that I work with since I began because of the location and currently belong to one in Mt. Prospect,IL who has a very uplifting and knowledgable Master trainer. She tends to lead the classes with a lot of enthusiasm which brings the members a lot of motivation and encourages us to do the exercises so that we can improve our various conditions.

Tried it for the first time. I had issues with my gut, stress, insomnia and muscle tightness because i am a gym rat. I thought I knew all the stretches to loosen up the muscles but after trying this, my body felt so loose,not completely free of tightness but i felt way better. Also, I've tried everything in regard to gut issues and insomnia from seeing all the doctors as well as all the medicine that were prescribed. None worked.
It may be Placebo effect for I do not have a deep understanding of this mind body and energy principles but after trying the free session, I signed up for a month because of how it made me feel afterwards. For some unexplained reason, I felt really good and felt relax that night and did not toss and turn as much while trying to sleep.

Chair Taichi & Meditation for Office Workers and Anyone
After a very long search, I came across this 'class' which ticked all my boxes.
My disability confines me to a wheelchair, it doesn't like early mornings and it won't settle for quiet meditation. So this is perfect.
As my disability progresses I struggle in most classes but gentle movement is really important to wheelchair users.
This class is not specifically aimed at disabled wheelchair users but it would be good for anyone infirm e.g. older people and those that live sedentary lives e.g. office workers. Even if you go to the gym, this is go for your soul so is highly recommended for some midweek relaxing movement.

I took a Saturday morning tai chi class of about one hour. We spent about 20 minutes warming up with various cupped hand patting all over the body just to get our chi awake and moving. We also spent at least 5 minutes stretches the back , neck, shoulders, arms and wrists to prepare them for the elongated, slow move of Tai Chi. We did the tai chi walk using only our lower bodies, amazingly challenging, but in a good way. After the walk we did several breathing and stretch-flexibility flowing movements. I especially enjoyed the figure eight movements where you move each arm then both arms with your palms facing up around your body forming the infinity sign in the air. Julie describes and demonstrates each movement and, if you keep your camera on, can make suggestions help improve your posture or form. She also philosophizes during some of the longer segments allowing you to practice movements at your own pace. This was the perfect way to wake and warm myself up for a HIIT class I took later in the day. I probably need to start every day like this.

Julie was very pushy and not understanding of my needs. She also called me stubborn which I’m not. And that’s very unprofessional. She made me feel uncomfortable. She came of kind of rude as well and just not being very understanding. I found a great meditation Teacher who was very understanding and not pushy and wasn’t trying to convince me to do something that i wasn’t interested in doing like Julie was.

I joined Body and Brain in 2018 I was emotionally , physically and mentally drained due to the death of my husband of 30 years. As I walked into the center it felt so peaceful, inviting , like I was home. I was greeted by Master Julia very friendly warm and supportive. I didn't know what to expect but accepted what was expected.
They offer an array of classes all to improve your physical condition, your emotional state and connect to your trueself. Classes include tai chi, yoga, meditation, breathing techniques and master classes at a deeper level. all focus on opening energy channels, increasing flexibility / strength and providing self healing.
With the guidance of Master Magdalena I'm amazed of the healing I have experienced, I now have full range of motion in my arms, my hips no longer hurt, my back is more flexible and I feel calmer, peaceful and fulfilled.

I would like to share my experience with Body & Brain Yoga Taichi program. The year 2020 was a challenging year for all of us. With COVID- 19 we were all pretty much home bound. We are all social beings. Not having physical contact with outside world can be mentally very depressing and in turn that can lead to physical and mental illnesses. But Body& Brain Yoga Taichi did not give into COVID -19. The organizers rouse to the occassion and met the challenge whole heartedly. They took advantage of the technology and arranged several online classes so that their members could attend the classes. They had several training programs that we could participate. As far as I am concerned, the regular on line classes and training programs kept my sanity and helped to spiritually grow under the challenging situation. If not for Body & Brain organization I could have been in real mental DUMP. I can not thank Master Julia enough for all her sincere teachings and eminating her positive energy. Her ever smiling face is contageous.I have been with Body & Brain for 10 years now. I have enjoyed my improved physical health, emotional healing and spiritual growth. I love all the Masters in the organization. They really are concerned hearts and take care of their members. Please check it out and you will not be disappointed.

I’ve been a member of body and brain yoga in Mt Prospect for more than 2 years now and I can say I have grown more spiritually over these 2 years than I ever did prior. I would always feel a welcoming warm energy coming to the center and leave with a sense of joy and peace in my heart. Now that we have the pandemic limiting physical contact, classes are conducted via zoom. In a way it has made it easier for me because I can attend classes at the comfort of my home. Joining Body and Brain has helped me tremendously especially with the kind of job I have and it’s environment. I am having the best experience of training and healing my body and brain. Since U started in July I am a better person, streached, relaxed, calm and I lost 12 Lbs in top of all. I can sleep 7 hours at night without sleeping pills. Master Julia works with you personally, class are not crowded and we drink awesome plant tea at the end of each class and make new friends. I signed up and paid for an introductory session. I was told that I would receive a reimbursement if I changed my mind and wanted to cancel. I made the mistake of paying in cash. I needed to cancel and told them of my desire only to be told I would need to come in to get my money back. Nice tactic. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to go to their location. I would think a business that followed standard accounting would have a checkbook and a reimbursement would be simple. Nope. I am out the money. Seems shady to me.Beware.

Dahn Yoga (Body & Brain) has truly made an impact and a positive change in my life. I have learned to calm my thoughts, live in the present, love and understand myself, and share the positivity with others.

How I Joined:
I was going through life’s routines and was on the verge of burnout and depression (along with anxiety, panic attacks, and high stress levels), I realized that I needed to make a change. I was driving and something told me to turn around to go and visit Dahn Yoga...and the rest is history! I was nervous to walk-in because some yoga studios have different approaches and I was not sure what I was going to encounter. However, I was greeted by a friendly face, I had a short consultation, and was asked if I wanted to attend the class to see if it was right for me. Even after just one session (your first class is free), I felt a huge difference in my thoughts and body (hence the name β€œBody & Brain”). I have been going to Dahn Yoga for eight months now, and I am amazed after every class--you learn something new about your mind, body, and/or spirit each time. I no longer have anxiety or panic attacks and I have learned to manage my stress.

Staff:
Every staff member is passionate about their practice and helping others, and the master trainers are truly amazing. When you walk in, you can just feel the positive energy. Each instructor has a different style, but are very knowledgeable, supportive, peaceful, and fun. They know each member/visitor by name and are very personable. Both the staff and members form positive relationships and feel like close friends and family.

Practices/Classes/Workshops:
I have found the Body & Brain practices to be very unique, through the body tapping, healing life (belly button) tool, wooden pillow, magnetic meditation, and other strategies you are definitely given unique tools and ways to improve your health that I have never even heard before...but I can tell you that they work! The staff explain the reasoning behind a tool, a movement, or a strategy/position/routine in a subtle way during class, and if you have a question they are always willing to explain. There are about 5-10 people in the classes and about 20 people for the workshops. Classes are more about mindfulness and meditation and less focus on the actual yoga poses. Normally, they encourage wearing a white shirt because of the flow of energy and symbolism. Also, I cannot even begin to tell you the amazing impact and clarity the workshops have! From gaining a basic understanding to really finding your true self--everything has benefitted my life and the life of others. Body & Brain even offers opportunities to go to Korea, Sedona, and New Zealand for deeper meditation. Also, they have opportunities for teachers to bring these practices into the schools to teach children about regulating their thoughts (they have yoga for children on Saturdays).

You are the creator of your own happiness. I feel so blessed, grateful, and empowered to have Dahn Yoga (Body & Brain) in my life, and I hope you find your true self and inner peace here as well.

This place is really life-changing. Here basic yoga exercises are intertwined with a very wide phylosophy, that is a great guidence for personal growth. As a person in a very fast paced, high stressed job (and I love my job, just want to be able to handle the daily stress better) & a complete newcomer to yoga I enetered this class feeling awkard and stupid; didn;t get moves down right initially but Magdelana was right there to show me correct placement and to reassure. She was GREAT! I felt SO GOOD after afterward that I am determined to keep coming back! The sense of utter calmnmess I felt after a class is indescriblely wonderful! My back feels stronger. my arthritic right knee even feels stronger & not so painful, Magadalena is wonderful and took so much time assisting me, educaring me and answering all of my questions. I highly recommend the friendly, caring staff at this Dahn yoga studio. I feel like they've helped give me my life back. I hobbled into the Mount Prospect Dahn Yoga studio sometime in early November of 2014. I'd had a very bad year healthwise including physically being in a lot of pain and was extremely stressed. I was coughing all the time after a lung injury. In the first private session it became easier to breath and move. I left happier and with more energy. I've been going twice a week since then in addition to physical therapy and occupational therapy twice a week. My improvement been amazing the therapists, in flexibility, strength and reduction of pain. I'm doing Dahn Yoga, some Tai Chi, and Qigong seated. I'm starting to do some things standing at the end of our sessions. I'm also doing healing sessions with Master Magdalena. I have not felt this happy, or balanced in years. I've been told I should finish therapy in four weeks and will be able to start with a trainer after that. At Dahn Yoga, our goal is to have me completely off the cane by the end of the year. The lung meridian tapping they taught me works faster than benadryl when I'm having issues. My internist is thrilled with my improvement. Definitely five stars!

My flexibility was horrendous, my strength was poor, my schedule was chaotic and I only had a few pennies to my name when I first walked in about a year ago. Since then, the instructors have worked with me physically, financially and spiritually to not only improve my body with regular class/workshops, but also helped me become more sensitive to how my physical condition can tell me a lot about my habits-thus helping me create the more relaxed, healthier, happier me of today. My body still isn't perfect, my mind still wanders sometimes, and I'm far from wealthy... But I have more energy than ever before, and a stronger ability to choose to pursuit what I want by connecting with myself through simple movements. It's an amazing journey!

Dahn Yoga it’s the absolute place to go if you want to learn what the true meaning of self love is. Not only the Yoga Masters and Instructors teach how to connect body mind and spirit, but they are also patiently and gently guiding the Yoga students towards spiritual growth, body health and a focused mind.
I was searching for peace, tranquility, self acceptance, health, abundance and confidence when I started to come to Dahn Yoga about 8 months ago. This is my first time doing yoga, and I can't tell you how much I really love it! Dahn Yoga especially is exactly what I was looking for in a mind-body-spiritual practice. What I went in looking for was a way to connect with my real self, something I feel that I've been losing recently. With all the breathing (and sweating!) that we do, I found it a really great way to relax and feel energized at the same time. I like that the instructors are really friendly and help me so much! The best part is that I always leave the class feeling happy about who I am! This location in Mount Prospect has only been open for 3 months now, but already it feels like home to me. I recommend that everyone should try give them a call!!!!!! :)
