This studio was phenomenal. I took some private lessons to prepare a dance as a present for my partner. I'm pretty self conscious but found nothing but encouragement at the studio. Celebrated my cousin’s bachelorette at Catalyst and we all loved it!! It was a group of 11 so we did have to partner up as there’s only 6 poles, but that wasn’t an issue we had a lot of fun! The instructors were so nice and helpful. They even had little gifts for all of us!Class was very beginner friendly. We all left wanting to do it again!

The instruction was great! The attention to detail for everything, including how to grip the pole for certain moves was very helpful. I hosted a bachelorette party with pole dancing from Catalyst Movement Arts. They are so amazing! The Studio Manager, Andrea, was so helpful and responsive. They were extremely easy to book with and very accommodating. About a week out from our event, one of the girls couldn’t make it and when I contacted Andrea, she changed our contract so that the girl wouldn’t be charged. I don’t remember our instructor’s name, but she had different colors in her hair and she was amazing as well! She took the time to get us comfortable with the poles since none of us have pole danced before. She gauged where we were in learning the moves and would re-explain or demonstrate again what we should do. She gave us tons of feedback and was very patient with us while we learned the routine. This place is so body positive and their staff was amazing and friendly! I would definitely recommend this studio especially if you’re a group of girls who are on the fence about pole dancing; they really make sure to promote an open and body positive environment!

David Owen's class was awesome! Everyone was so welcoming when I first arrived and each dancer showed love and support to one another. This level class was perfect for me. I was challenged, but not overwhelmed. The instructor listened to concerns, spotted us, and gave suggestions. The poles were safe and wood floors were very nice. I hope to return on my next trip to Chicago!

This was my first pole experience ever. Pole is something I’ve always wanted to attempt, but have never felt safe enough to try. I decided to try Catalyst with a friend and both of us agreed that we thoroughly enjoyed our time, felt very safe (and supported!) with our instructor Andrea, and agreed that we needed to return to Catalyst as soon as possible. I have visited Brass Ring, Fly Club, Stiletto, and Catalyst and while they are all lovely pole studios with their own unique vibes, Catalyst suits my needs the best. Classes are long enough for a full conditioning warm up while also leaving time for a full class. Each instructor has their own style and the owners are passionate about their studio and their students. They make everyone feel welcome regardless of their background or experience level. Catalyst is great for newbies, experienced dancers of different styles, or experienced pole dancers looking for detailed training to enhance their craft. I hope to see this studio thrive for a long time. Catalyst is an asset to the Chicago dance and arts scene, as well as to the pole community as a whole.

I came back to pole dancing here after some time off and was welcomed with open arms. All the teachers are super encouraging and knowledgable and the students are supportive and funny. I felt welcome and like I was a part of a community from day 1 but there was never any pressure or weird cliques or things that can sometimes happen at pole dancing or yoga studios. The classes themselves are safe, fun and varied and while the teachers themselves have their own styles, they are really supportive of you developing your own and will kind of support you in whatever you're trying to get out of classes.
