I am thoroughly impressed with the dedication and detail that Berto puts into his clients on an individual basis. The level of expertise is unmatched by other trainers. As a person living with double scoliosis, I can say that I truly feel a "weight off of my shoulders" after every training session as well as renewed range of motion and energy that I need for my kids. Highly recommended!

I love this place, my therapist Humberto Paniagua is the best: he is very patient and understanding. He knows how to treat the clients and is always willing to try something else if I didn’t manage the position/exercise.

I can’t say enough about Chicago Biometrics. My son has been working with Asher for about 6 months now and it was the best decision we’ve ever made! His entire body has changed he feels stronger and knows how to move his body to reduce the risk of injury! I am thankful this business has excellent trainers that can customize great workouts.

I’ve trained with Hunberto, and it's been a great experience. The sessions are very affordable for the quality of training you get. He has excellent boxing knowledge and tailors each workout to your needs. The exercise routines are always challenging and effectives. He really focuses on your goals and motivates you throughout. Highly recommend if you want to improve your fitness or boxing skills.

I have trained with Asher for the past few years and he has helped me reduce neck pain, back pain, and anxiety. Better than any other alternative I’ve sought out over the years. Staff is professional and their main goal is for you to improve.

Over all I've had a really positive experience at this gym and Asher has been great to work with. I've been working with him for over a year now. When I started training I was nervous because I've never been athletic and have always struggled to feel comfortable in my own skin. Asher has been amazingly patient with me and so encouraging no matter how much I struggle. The benefits have definitely been worth the work and investment. I'm grateful to have found this place.

I’ve been training with Stephanie using only the Functional Patterns methodology for a few years now to get to the root of my dysfunctions and I have nothing but respect and good things to say about her and the FP system.

I dealt with years of constant aches and pains from sports and weightlifting injuries: such as lower back pain where I wouldn’t be able to stand up for long periods of time and I’d be bedridden for days, and sciatica to the point of wanting to cut off my own leg just to feel some sort of relief.

I tried many different approaches to fix my issues from prescription medications to physical therapy, to massage therapy, to chiropractors and more. None of these approaches were able to give me the long lasting relief I needed until I came across the Functional Patterns system and started training with Stephanie.

Thanks to Stephanie’s high attention to detail and understanding of how to tackle dysfunctions both physical and lifestyle wise, my pain has gone from a chronic 10 (debilitating pain) to a now present day 0 (zero!)

I cannot thank Stephanie enough for her guidance in my journey as I now live pain free and have the tools and wherewithal to be able to manage myself better.

I recommend anyone in chronic pain or with a less than ideal posture to not hesitate to contact Stephanie and everyone else working here as they truly care for the the betterment of their clients!

I’d like to first start off by saying FP has changed my life. I’m forever grateful to the team at first four biomechanics for working diligent with me to improve my physical and mental health.

Prior to starting FP, I’d have had 3 back surgeries and I was struggling with severe low back and SI pain. I was nearly disabled in terms of what I was able to do on a daily basis. FP was always in the back of my head as a last resort and I finally caved to starting it because I’ve exhausted all other forms of physical therapy to improve my physical health and I said “what the hell let’s give it a try”.

I started off with the 10 week online program but quickly started seeing a practitioner at first four and we began working diligently at my dysfunctions to address the system. I’ve now been going consistently for 7 months or so and have made massive strides in my physical health and it’s been the best decision of my life. I recommend FP to everyone I come into contact with. Another item to note is I feel the staff at first four brings a lot of experience and passion to the table when it comes to helping people with their functional patterns journey.

I can't thank Humberto enough for the incredible transformation he's helped me achieve both physically and mentally. Prior to working with him, I had been weight lifting 5 days a week, doing traditional lifts like bench press, barbell squats, and deadlifts. While I was lifting heavy, I was constantly dealing with back and shoulder pain. My posture was off (rounded shoulder, winged scapula's), and my athleticism, something I once took pride in, felt like it was slipping away. Shooting a basketball or throwing a ball would leave me in excruciating 10/10 pain, and I couldn’t seem to shake it.

Humberto has completely turned that around for me. He’s helped me correct my scapular alignment and posture, which has made an immense difference. I no longer have that constant pain, and I can actually enjoy activities like basketball and throwing without fear of injuring myself. What really stands out about Humberto is his ability to create a personalized approach, focusing not just on lifting, but on truly reshaping my body for better function and long-term health. His guidance has not only helped me recover physically but has also given me a renewed, positive outlook on fitness.

I feel stronger, more athletic, and more confident than I have in years. I’m incredibly grateful for Humberto’s expertise and the way he’s helped me shift my focus from lifting for size to training for overall functional mobility and strength. If you’re looking for a trainer who truly understands how to fix imbalances, correct posture, and get you feeling better in your body, Humberto is the one to go to.

I have no regrets about switching my approach to Functional Patterns and would highly recommend it.

Been going here for a few months now after experiencing chronic back pain for around six years. I go once or twice per week.

I work with Asher one-on-one, and attend group classes lead by Stephanie on Sundays. This is my favorite place to go during the week because of the intensity of the work and the continuous education of biomechanics (alongside physically practicing to understand and implement the knowledge immediately). These trainers have a very sharp eye and strategies to ensure I am maximizing my results. With constant attention and minor cues from Asher, I find I am learning to activate muscles I didn’t know I had. This has resulted in a large reduction in my back pain and exposed weaknesses that I believe would lead to further health complications down the road if not addressed now.

This treatment is more affordable than conventional physical therapy and quite frankly is a more holistic and extremely well-rounded approach, extending beyond biomechanics corrections and incorporating healthy lifestyle improvements. While I’ve had experience with the FP 10-week online course, I’m so glad I reached out to get an in-person assessment and implement more benefits than I thought possible.

Totally disappointed with these trainers and their approach to serving their clients (don’t choose Asher especially). I reached out because I love the Functional Patterns approach and have been doing the 10week program on my own since last February. It’s life changing. However, these trainers take initial assessment money without actually supporting a client with what they are seeking support in. (You have to do an initial assessment to be seen in any capacity).
I was seeking some corrective support for my strengthening exercises (specific to the 10week program that I can do at home). Rather than help me improve my positions and posture; Asher took my money for an initial assessment and then offered nothing! He spoke to me like I’m unaware of FP principles (I’ve been doing the program for over 6months). He didn’t provide the support for what I asked for— and then tried to upsell me to his personal training sessions. (Which I said prior I wasn’t interested in) I get it. He’s selling personal training sessions. However, It’s low quality care and NOT community building around a great system called FP. Stephanie was my initial contact and she was a much better communicator— however, I ended up with Asher (not sure why). After my first assessment I was leaving the Franklin Park location, I called Stephanie to let her know I was disappointed and never got the corrective support I needed for at home practice. Her reply was unkind , full of blame and not what i would expect from an owner of an FP franchise establishment. Overall they both felt stressed to make a quick buck off the initial assessment money; but failed to provide actual care and guidance; as well as to grow their community of FP enthusiasts (I had said prior to the appointment that I lived too far for regular sessions but I’d love to come to group classes when they have them). I reached out for specific help with the FP program corrective exercises. If you are going to just sell your personal training and not support me where I need it; then be honest and transparent about that. It’s your right as trainers to sell any way you choose. However, as a wellness practitioner for over 30 years, growth and momentum come when you have many various active members to your training community— not just paid personal training clients only.

Asher purposely didn’t help me with my strengthening exercises so he could upsell me his program using the FP machine (which I can’t do at home). Stephanie and Asher then kicked me out of their FP Chicago Doers Signal group because I asked a group question seeking local chicago FP practitioners to practice with in the city. This is LOW QUALITY, fear-based business tactics. It’s a shame really. Take my $120 and offer zero followup or support afterwards except to send a video?? (I can send a video on the FP Fb group. I paid for direct guidance in specific exercises and I said this prior to arriving to my first appointment). What kind of FP community can you grow when you aren’t supporting clients “where they are at”.

Overall, FP is an amazing system. These folx in Franklin park however put a stain on the FP system as a whole and it’s a shame because Chicago is ripe for massive growth. Growth comes when you help people with what they ask for— not just upselling them to your predetermined sales goal because you need the $$. As clients, we feel your desperation and it’s insulting to our intelligence.

Functional Patterns is an amazing system. Learn direct and skip this place. Find trainers that will LISTEN to you. Not combat you for asking questions and seeking answers unique to your needs and training capacity.

Stephanie and Asher acted like bullies in their communication with me. It’s unprofessional and offensive. Save your money and your mental health! Find somewhere else to learn and practice Functional Patterns!

I’ve been working with Stephanie a few years now on fixing my dysfunctions (e.g, scoliosis) and I cannot say enough good things about this gym, the functional patterns training program, and Stephanie. Through this program and my 1-1 training with Steph, I no longer feel lower back pain and have made significant improvements in my posture and overall biomechanics. I can confidently say I’ll be a functional patterns follower for life! Don’t hesitate to book a session with any of the trainers at this gym!
