This is my second go at Pilates after three years. My first couple of classes went ok, but Daryl has made this experience so much more rewarding!! Morning class is always a great way to get me started and pumped up for the day, especially on the weekends. Mary Helen‘s classes are always so energizing and she never uses the same routine.
Amanda was one of my original instructors at Oak Park Club Pilates 5 years ago. She is such a great instructor. I enjoy taking her Thursday morning classes at Elmhurst and so happy when she is available as a substitute at Oak Park.
Love Mary Helen’s Monday evening Oak Park classes whether it’s Reformer Flow 1 or 1.5. She always makes the classes interesting and different every time!
Sylvie is great! She always explains the reason for lateral breathing and provides detailed instructions. I appreciate her feedback when she corrects my posture or position.
Nataly was substitute for Christy. She is upbeat and enthusiastic in teaching the class. I wouldn’t mind taking other classes with her!
Dania- is a ball of explosive energy. If you’re tired, she has a way of pumping you up to forget about it and make you want to workout! She’s great!

I walked in just three sessions prior to this review with my body tight and in pain and unable to do a lot of things. At 54 years old that’s pretty young to be having issues like that. Well, let me just say that Club Pilates got me straight. I am now have more flexibility and the pain is less. I wish I could go more days a week but for now it’s once a week.

I’m taking my first series of Pilates class, and I can honestly say it’s been a fantastic experience! The instructors are welcoming and provided clear guidance, making it easy for a beginner like me to follow along. I really enjoyed the exercises; they offered just the right amount of resistance, allowing me to feel challenged without being overwhelmed.
I appreciated how the classes focused on both strength and flexibility, and I leave feeling invigorated and accomplished. I'm already looking forward to advancing to the next level and exploring more of what Pilates has to offer. If you’re thinking about trying it, I highly recommend.

Sylvie at Club Pilates in Oak Park is a GREAT, KNOWLEDGEABLE AND HELPFUL instructor. I've taken 86 classes and I try to schedule sessions when she is there. I wish she taught more classes because she is so accommodating with a physical challenge that I have. The flow of her classes is wonderful. I rate her THE BEST! However, I will say that I really enjoy Mary Helen 's class, too! I am very HAPPY with my Club Pilates experience in Oak Park!

Instructors are fabulous. Classes are fabulous. But the logistics office side is not so fabulous. I had an emergency medical situation called the front desk (30 days prior to next payment) did what they asked me to do to cancel membership because I knew I wouldn’t be able to do classes for 2-4 months from recovery. They still charged me. I told them if they charged me another month I’d get a lawyer. They had no empathy and just wanted the next payment. I still had so many credits. I’ll never go back to this location they are extremely money hungry and don’t care about the actual person behind the payment.

About Sara:
Sara is exceptional. This is why I say that: yes, her routine is challenging and thorough but also, she takes time to understand what she is doing and why. Her classes are sprinkled with facts bout why certain movements are effective, and even the latest research on health and exercise. She is very proactive, shows loads of initiative and makes people in her classes feel that they are participants as well beyond the routine. She is extremely creative and a hard worker who gives the best she has. She’s one of a kind.
About Darryl:
Darryl is a fantastic Instructor. He is very dynamic, helpful, attentive to detail relating to proper technique, and his classes invariably present a fun challenge. There is never a boring moment in his class. I Highly recommend.
About Sylvie:
I’ve doing Pilates daily for almost a year and a half, and I was lucky to workout under Sylvie’s supervision for most of my first year. I think she might well be the master of technique amongst the Instructors at the Club. Her routines seem deceptively simple but I can assure you, if you do them being careful of following technique —and Sylvie is a very detailed and careful instructor— your body will absolutely change. Her routine is extremely effective, and it prepares you very well for all the other classes. I really appreciate and enjoy Sylvie’s class.

There are several instructors I love but since I was specifically asked about Page and Mary Helen, here it goes:
Page is absolutely amazing, excellent. She is thorough and precise in both her guidance throughout the routine and the exercises she chooses for the workout. Her exercises are never for show but, instead, always very purposeful, carefully curated and chosen to do a specific job. Her routines are also always varied, and challenging. It’s so cool to book one of her classes. And she’s always offering encouraging and positive feedback throughout the workout. One of the absolute best instructors you have, hands down.
Mary Helen is a great Pilates instructor as well. She is a kind person and, as an instructor, she is thorough, and always helps you with technique whenever necessary. Her class is a really fun challenge to go through. I’d recommend her highly.

There are things Club Pilates could improve upon, however:
You are never told about the supposed 5 minute rule. Even though I always arrive on time, one day I arrived 6 minutes late. I had moved heaven and earth just to be able to get there that day. I was looking forward to a relaxing routine and as I’m taking my shoes the girl at the desk simply tells me, “You can’t come in”. i’m all confused and stressed out from trying to make it to the studio, and all she thinks of adding is, “It’s policy.” Unfortunately, such “policy’ is something that’s never told to you (to the date of me writing this) and it wasn’t written anywhere.(to the date of this comment). Moreover, it is pretty much implemented haphazardly. More importantly, we’re all human. You never know what that person went through just to make it there and do their exercise. Or how much that person had been counting on being there just to feel a little better that day. I mean, Life is unpredictable. What people need is empathy more than business casual all the time.

Wow. Just wow. As someone who has been going to Club Pilates for the past 4 years, this location has transcended my expectations. The front desk staff (Melanie!!) is so welcoming and accommodating, the instructors are insanely passionate about teaching, and the workouts show a deep understanding of muscle physiology.
I’d especially like to mention Sara A. Her class is the BEST Pilates class I’ve ever taken in my life. She really cares about tailoring each class to everyone’s needs and is incredible at what she does. I really enjoy how she continues to explain each work out as we perform it- it makes the burn a lot more bearable! I was able to activate muscles that I’ve spent years trying to on my own with no luck because of how excellent her explanations are. She also plays the best music!! 10/10 recommend. Liz on Wednesday’s is also great!

I can't tell you how dishonest this place was with me. In just one month, they fined me multiple times for 20 USD each because, according to them, I didn't go to the practice. However, I did. Now, the last time, and even worse, they used my card and fined me after we had agreed to cancel the contract. Another 20 USD. How absurd! I tried to resolve the issue with them, but they made excuses and didn't give me back the money they never should have taken from me. Absurd!! Being fined all the time at Pilates! Thank God I don't go to this place anymore.
People only go to this place because there are no other options in Oak Park.

I like working with Gretchen, she knows that I have a medical issue and she comes around and helps anyone who needs it . She's funny, she's patient, she's kind. I try and get all of my classes with her. In fact I look forward to my sessions Sundays with her. Since I've been working with her my muscle spasms have stopped coming as frequent as they used to thank you Gretchen.

I arrived for my pilates class 5-6 minutes late and was turned around because of the 5 minute "grace period". I have a membership that includes 8 classes per month for $199/month. This studio is located in downtown Oak Park, so with that being said, parking is not always the easiest to find including having to walk if you had no choice but to park a little far (which is why I was late). I also want to add I've never been this late for a class. I just thought it was a little ridiculous and wanted to let people know before they sign up for a membership. You do not get back the credit, you just lose the class you already paid for. I could even see if I was 10+ minutes late because the classes are only 50 minutes, but 5-6 minutes? My fiance read online that it was because you can't miss the warm up, but I've done tons of pilates classes with Club Pilates and the warm up is nothing intense. It's basically walking/stretching your legs on on the reformer. Love the location and instructors, but this policy is ridiculous. Will be contacting corporate as well, and when my 3 month commitment is up I will be cancelling to switch to another pilates company that treats their members a little better.
