Started coming here to use their Aescape machine and I have to say I am extremely disappointed with the lack of organization.
The first time I was greeted, taken to the spa and directed on how to use the machine (basically treated like any customer should be). The second time, however, there was no one managing the spa for hours on end and the person at the front desk forgot to check me in for my massage so there I was lying down and getting ready for the machine to ask me to check in using my phone and there is no service because the spa is in the furthest part of the basement, which is practically a bunker. I tried connecting to the WiFi and lo and behold: of course I need a membership to connect because why would any other paying customer ever need WiFi? So I cannot sign in and again, there is no one in the spa to ask for help. I get up and have to go all the way up to the front desk to ask to be checked in (which they should’ve done as soon as I arrived) and at this point they’ve wasted about 15 minutes of my time.
All of this is to say I am glad I have always stuck with my decision NOT to be a member of this company and this experience only reinforced this decision. In addition to the bad customer service, the facilities are in the basement and so being in there feels extremely claustrophobic. Also a tiny pool and entirely too many staff members just sitting behind their computers pretending not to be seen through the gigantic glass windows that are their walls and looking like they’d rather be anywhere than working. I will probably not be coming back so I’m hoping the other Equinox has better service. Stay away if you enjoy being treated with care at an establishment you patronize!! Hope you get better!

Been coming here for a year and this is what I can say:
-Great cense of community. All of the workers are very nice and are happy to answer any questions or spot you if you need. All of them are kind and very professional and knowledgeable.
Btw, thanks to the coach Jack Z for all the help he always offers me and help me improve with his knowledge and professionalism.
-The cleanest GYM I’ve ever been, and I’ve been to many.
-The equipment always on point, only twice I’ve seen equipment broken and have always been fixed in 24-48 hours. Nothing here is falling apart.
-Last but very important: There is a HUGE cultural advantage here. EVERYBODY puts the weights/bars away and clean the machines when they are done with their exercises. You don’t know how important that is until you go to a different GYM where ppl leaves the equipment all over the place and you have no clue if a machine is being used or not.

I just recently joined so I don't have too much to say about the gym itself quite yet. But I did want to share my awesome experience with Aaliyah and Austin. They were both very helpful in answering my questions and addressing my concerns when I was on the fence about signing up. They were accommodating and super kind throughout the process. 10/10 customer service!

Evil management that will send you to collections even if you cancel within their policy (moving away from area). Remember the old Seinfeld episode about quitting the gym? These guys are worse.

Received an email about a complimentary tour which happened but very unpleasantly. I was racially profiled sadly & unfortunately by a Hispanic guy & I'm a Hispanic female. He looked like he just wanted the tour to be over with & gave me a horrible experience perceiving me as like a person that's going to steal. What am I gonna steal? The weights ?... Or the tampons?... Oh wait maybe the bicycles from the cycling class. Not even Tesla was like that in the gold Coast & everyone hates Elon. But guess what, they didn't racially profile me & they let me test drive all of the Tesla cars. Making me feel more comfortable & at home by offering coffee & pastries.

The equipment is clean and it does not smell like a gym. The aqua sculpt class is way more fun than it should be - but it seems that the pool is constantly having issues 😕. Lots of squat racks and heavy weights, so move some metal.

I started my membership in 5th of October and got a personal trainer right away. At the beginning when i was offered a free training session with Nadia i have been very sceptical about personal training experience, but Nadia changed my mind right away. After only 1 month of consistant trainings and good diet me and Nadias experience built me a stunning 8 pounds of lean muscle(im natural btw). Now i look best i ever did. i recommend Nadia as a personal trainer. The gym is cool. I really like how everything is taken care there. Always clean, not too crowded.

My husband and I started our membership this year and it was great until today. We were both using the pull-up instrument doing multiple sets each. Half way into our workout, two white old men approached me, and started to say very mean and inappropriate things to me for using the instrument for too long (although we only used it for a reasonable amount of time and someone else working out there also came over to tell me that we were def not in the wrong and they were def being racist). The guys were definitely targeting me. I went to the front desk for help. The front desk guy was nice but told me that he couldn’t come over to intervene since he was the only staff there. He helped to file a report but when I asked if I could talk to the management directly, no one was here. One of the individuals was verbally and attitude-wise aggressive to the point that my husband was scared that he would get physical and hurt me. I do not accept to be treated as such and I am cancelling my membership if Equinox does not take this seriously.

Such a great gym. It’s very clean, doesn’t ever get overly crowded, and is welcoming. Although, I did join online and when I went in the first time they didn’t offer me a tour or ask if I had any questions, I kind of was just left on my own to figure it out. The gym isn’t big so it’s not hard to find everything. It’s in the basement basically of 900 Michigan shops, so there aren’t any windows so it might feel a little claustrophobic. Parking is validated and it’s 3 dollars for up to two hours. There was a time when it didn’t work like three days straight so I had to walk all the way back to get another ticket which was kind of a hassle. If you park in the garage you have to either take the elevator down and walk outside to walk around to the front of the mall, or you can go up the elevator to the floor with the shops and then walk through the mall and take the elevator again down to one. It’s kinda a journey, but it does come in handy when it’s cold out and you don’t wanna go outside. It’s nice having the indoor parking connected. Every other equinox in Chicago you will have to park and then walk across busy streets to get to the gym. Overall It worth the price to me and love the vibe there.

In NYC I had a membership to The Printing House which was subsequently purchased by Equinox. I was relocated to Chicago for work, hence I currently utilize the 900 N Michigan location.
This location is clean and well maintained. However I find the following to be disappointing:
1. They removed Full Size Lockers and replaced them with smaller lockers making it impossible to properly hang up business suits, etc.
2. They installed Water Savers in all the Shower Heads so taking a proper shower with adequate water pressure is impossible.
3. The tile floors in the Shower Area are very slippery. I have slipped and fallen 3 times. Management has made no changes despite my injuries. They are more concerned with Decor vs Safety.
4. The Coat Check is only open during Peak Hours. So if you workout in the afternoon you are screwed as there is no place to hang up your Winter Coat and must stuff it into a small locker.
Overall, I find the Management Team to be Myopic, Self Absorbed, Self Serving and Unresponsive. I am now a member of Life Fitness @ 15 W Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60654 and would suggest you check them out as an alternative to Equinox.

My experience has been very pleasant and satisfactory.
I was first received with contagious great attitude by Julia Chaney, who was and has been very helpful with everything I need to know. Then the professional coach Jordan Richey, was also very helpful, encouraging and dedicated with our sessions, as soon as he starts speaking you can tell he knows everything and more about what he does and it’s such a great feeling to have experts like him instruct you. I am happy they were the ones that welcomed me officially.
The GYM is big, very clean, with towers available everywhere, some of them refrigerated with eucalyptus oil.
There is plenty of equipment that is perfectly clean as well. The steaming room is perfect, so are the showers and lockers.

I have been a customer of this gym on and off since I was 16 years old. I travel a lot for work and, when I am lucky enough to find that there is an Equinox in another city, have reached out to them and they have been gracious enough to put me on the Guest List for a day or two. This is that only gym that has refused to do so. They did offer an option for me to pay 20% of my monthly membership for 1 day. Customer service at this location is certainly subpar, but I am that glad this does not reflect my overall experience with the chain.

You should only join this gym if you're ready to make fitness a top priority. I signed up for 1 on 1 personal training with Kaylla Spinks and she changed my life from the inside out spiritually, mentally, and physically. They also have group classes ALL DAY EVERY DAY with world class instructors - these are included with your membership. Facilities are immaculate. Julia, my membership advisor, checks in with me regularly to ensure my experience is going smoothly. I've been a member now for over 6 months and hope to be for a long time.

The facilities are great and have the same expectation from other equinox locations in the Chicago area. The big downfall of this place in the gold costs is parking. The option available is terrible, and you need to plan ahead at least with 30-min prior arrival. Plus, you only get 3h when vouching your ticket at the equinox (still need to pay 3$); if by any reason you pass that time frame they will charge you around 40$.

If you are a person who normally hates the gym, this place is for you. Their class schedule is maybe the best of any gym in the area. The facilities are beautiful and someone is constantly cleaning. The Kiehl’s products smell great and I appreciate that they also supply razors, deodorant, feminine products, hair ties, and basically whatever you might forget in your gym bag. I’d like to be able to take more advantage of their private Pilates and personal training classes, but the cost is kind of steep. Their online/remote classes are super convenient for travelers. If you love yoga, go to Allison’s classes!

Best gym experience. My husband and I relocated to Chicago and took finding a health club very seriously. After touring 4 different options in the neighborhood, it was clear that Equinox was the best fit. The facility is beautifully designed and kept, classes/equipment are all top notch, faculty is overly accommodating—everyone is so kind, and the trainers are experts at what they do (shoutout to EJ)! I feel so much stronger and healthier than I ever have. Highly recommend elevating your day-to-day by joining.

Wish I could give 0 stars.
I’ve never experienced such tactless communication in a supposedly high standard space. This couldn’t even be called persistance. How do you convince someone you have high coveted membership when you’re almost forcing a prospective member to join your gym?
I never felt such lack of kindness and consideration for my position as a potential client. Extremely uncomfortable though I did my best to gracefully decline joining right away the entire time, I was too close to saying the truth which is that I simply will never want to pay $200 per month to be in this environment on top of simply not having decided this is the gym I want to join. Cherry on top is that I received 0 apology for being made feel this way, guilt tripped for 35 minutes about my decisions.
The sales/representative staff told me verbatim “this is actually not a difficult decision” multiple times which is so outrageous in my experience with high end services.
Also please don’t extend outstanding occupancy expectations when your weight spaces are about as busy as everywhere else.

I scheduled a tour for this place. Most gyms at least let you experience the gym before enrollment. I mention I was staying at local hotel. I thought they had a location in Georgia also. I arrived at the gym and Rikki tells me they don't have a partnership with my hotel. I was not looking for a hotel day pass. We then go over the location they have in the US. She then walked me around the gym and ask if I wanted to join. I told her I don't join a gym without using it first. She then tells me I couldn't workout at that time. She stated I would have to come back tomorrow. There were no lines out the door. I have used various gym around the world. This the first time someone told me to come back to use their gym. She then told me I had to make an immediate decision after using their gym. I am a member of Clubcorp's Commerce Club in Atlanta. I guess Rikki thinks this gym was the best in the world. It is not. Rikki, when your Atlanta, GA. property opens, please don't contact me.

I was only a member at this gym for a few months but my time there was really nice. I had to leave only because of Covid and moving out of the city. Their equipment was very good quality and their pool and steam room were lovely. Alex Enos was the biggest help during and after my time there. He was understanding about why I had to cancel my membership and recently helped me get a refund after being accidentally charged on my account. I requested to have my membership cancelled on June 8. I received an email the following day from the General Manager, Brooke Hildebrand, stating that “effective immediately”, my membership would be cancelled. It was only cancelled because I told them that I never signed the agreement, which was true. Once they looked into that, they agreed to cancel it. I verbally agreed because I was interested in rejoining the gym but shortly after, I realized that the distance from my home/work to the gym was going to be too great and it would not make sense to travel such a distance back and forth only a couple of times a week. Again, I NEVER signed the *official* agreement that is automatically generated when you rejoin and because it was NEVER signed, that’s the only way I was able to have my membership cancelled. Well, here it is, June 23rd, 2021. A full two weeks have passed since receiving the email from Brooke Hildebrand saying my membership would be cancelled. Why would I be charged for a membership that on June NINTH, two full weeks earlier, was supposed to have been cancelled “immediately”?! There is a reason why most gyms have such bad reputations and it’s exactly for reasons like the one I’m describing. I still have the proof that states when my membership would be cancelled so I am extremely shocked and displeased.
How can you charge me AFTER stating the membership would be canceled? This is absolutely unbelievable and unacceptable. I will not accept this. Think twice before joining, even nicer gyms like this still have slimy ways of treating their customers, past and present just to avoid cancellations. The gym must be extremely desperate to the point where they are doing this to me. I am sure this matter will be resolved swiftly since I’m pretty sure taking legal action against such an establishment like this wouldn’t be received too well…

I am a returning member. Came back because I liked their classes. Then I found out popular classes were difficult to get into. Members have to reserve a spot 26 hours before a class. If I was 5 minutes late, the class was full. Some body building classes are so popular, it is difficult to find space on the floor to exercise, even with a reservation. Because I work, I do not have many hours available to go to the gym and when I could go, I had difficulty getting a slot in a class. I stopped trying. Went to Equinox three days ago to cancel my membership and they are giving me a difficult time. I was told the manager was going to call me back, I am waiting.

If you’re looking for what appears to be a overpriced “posh” gym with poor business acumen and customer service this is your spot.
To start off I just called asking a question and they offered to have there salesman call me back. I advised them I would not like that and I would just stop by, well a hour later I get a polite sales call. (You know, he just wanted to make sure he’d have time for me.) When I arrived about 25 minutes later he was showing another customer around. They told me to take a seat. After 5-10 I inquired if it was going to be a while as I have other stuff to do. A minute or two later he comes up with another customer and says it will be a few minutes.
I asked if I could get a workout in and check out the gym to see if I like everything and get the sales pitch after he gets done with that customer. He informs me they don’t let you try out the gym the same day. So apparently they expect people to waste two 20 minute trips to their gym. On top of all of that their monthly fee is $175 a month.
For that price you should have amazing customer service!

Great gym, but rating is impacted by the value. Up front charges go up to $500 and the monthly rate is roughly $150. It seems like an okay price until you cost it out for a year which comes to $1,800. The place teems with private trainers, but they are great people. However, I don't care for the overall business model. They want $1,800 per year for the basis membership, but private trainers stare at a $1,100 rate for 10 sessions. On a very positive note, the front desk staff is wonderful. The guys in the locker room do a wonderful job. In summary, nice gym, but the priciest that I know of in the city. Hope this helps. As always, beware of those that gush and those that hate. There is a remarkable dance exercise class twice a week that is led by a truly gifted dancer and teacher. Equinox probably has 40 classes per week, but none have a stronger following than Karim.

I have a national membership with Equinox, centered in NYC. This facility has what you need to get a high-end workout in. Spinning and group classes available. The locker rooms could benefit from an upgrade to spa lockers (I.e., once that have built-in locks instead of requiring a personal lock). Location is easy to get to from most of Chicago north of the river.

The club is well kept and there are many types of classes throughout every day, including yoga, Pilates on the mat, etc. My reason for 4 stars is because every time I need to deal with the membership staff, they take long to solve issues and it’s usually overcharging my credit card. I’ve learned to deal with them in writing so there are no future complications.

After a lengthy conversation with Rayme Gorniak the General Manager in regards to a double charge on my daughters gym membership with Equinox I most say I was deeply disappointed that they could not make an adjustment to refund September's payment. The double charge resulted in an attempt to put an account on hold for the month of September. The September payment was charged along with the freeze fee of $30. This saddens me because my daughter enjoyed the experience that Equinox offered but the fact that they charged me twice for one month and could not offer any credit angers me!

This gym is probably the nicest gym I've visited. At the time, I had to find a place which was easily accessible from my office and open seven days a week. It's one of a nationwide network of high-end workout centers across the country. They manage to stay in larger metro areas and offer a high-priced nationwide package for the frequent business traveler.
Staff members are great...always with a smile as you enter and leave the gym. Busiest times I've seen are Mondays and Wednesdays after work. I can get in, complete a work out, shower and get back to my desk in just over an hour. Not bad. I have yet to take any classes there, which is sad because there's something there for everyone.
One thing to note, I lost my iPhone at this gym and was really disheartened when no one turned it in. Don't get me wrong - the staff did their best to look for it, and felt awful it happened. But I don't think that members who pay such high gym fees necessarily need to lift an iPhone. It was an expensive mistake but DON'T LEAVE YOUR ELECTRONICS lying around.
Huge Pluses:
-Large amount of friendly, engaged trainers (you can really tell the ones that care about their clients)
- Discount coupons to store and spa after joining
- You can check in, reserve a spinning bike, check class schedules and find other gym locations via an Equinox iPhone app
- Extremely clean
- Almost no waiting for equipment
- Eye candy galore
- Monthly lockers, laundry service and towel service available
- Immaculate lap pool
- Complimentary one hour training session and full body assessment with membership
- Complimentary 30 minute message
- Full line of Kiehl's products for use in the locker room and for purchase at the store
- An occasional celebrity sighting
- At times, awesome music
Minuses:
- Membership fees are much higher than other gyms in the area
- The gym's underground. No windows but well lit.
- Cell phone reception's not that great (see above). I guess this could be either a blessing or a curse.
- Initial 12-month contracts, after it's month-to-month
- Corporate discounts only happen if you get more than 15 people to join after you inquire about setting up the meetings. Doesn't seem like a lot but when you only have 75 people in your office, and the people that can join already are members, it's tough.
Yes, I feel a bit of exclusivity when I go there. There are a ton of business professionals that work out during lunch and after they leave the office. Deals are discussed, people interact with each other and you may even see a celebrity or two. I love the atmosphere, the cleanliness and the fact you hardly ever have to wait for anything.

clean. very good classes, they have kids club for two hours limit.
$2 parking for three hours.
I think it is good for the price except one year commitment...only way to outs are 1. job loss, 2. relocation of 25 miles, and 3 doctor's note.

Great location on Michigan Avenue. Classes follow each other so a two to three hour workout is possible. The club is cleaned every three hours. Smells fresh and clean. Front desk is friendly. Restorative Yoga class is excellent.

The classes here are unparrelled. I love the fresh eucalptys towels and the personal trainers are all so knowledgable. When you sign up, they do an "equifit" which tells you where you currently stand in your fitness and body strength. I am used to going to the doctor but noone has ever told me by BMI, etc. I am absolutely addicted to this place!
