This gym was so racist and unwelcoming(pretty sure I was the only black person in there at the time) and it was my first day though I didn’t get a tour, the person I was supposed to “speak” and tour with randomly gets a meeting when she sees me in person ?? Weird(but could care less I’ll
Find my way around), besides that it’s clear what vision they have for this space and who’s not welcome. Being there for less than an hour made me never wanna come back or join and I was only on day one of my pass. That says a lot, fix and educate your privileged white employees abt some manners and not racially profiling, it’s the same with their membership, positions, spa placements etc. The space is also very feeble as it’s just shiny glass with black and white equipment, the floors feel very weak and so do the overall machines/equipment ESPECIALLY on the weight floor and don’t get me started on the “coaches” who act like they’ve never seen a black person before. Overall the racism and lack of professionalism at this location is really disappointing and uncouth for what equinox is supposed to be. I’m probably never visiting another location or ever joining because of this, my guess is it’s like that at most of their locations

I’ve been debating joining Equinox for over a year, and my experience with Abigail at the Lincoln Common location is what finally tied the knot for me. Her customer service was absolutely incredible—she was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making sure all my questions were answered. Abigail went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and valued, and her professionalism and warmth made all the difference in my decision to join. If you’re on the fence like I was, I highly recommend connecting with her. She turned what felt like a long decision process into an easy “yes.”
Also, as an avid cyclist, their cycling classes are amazing!

I love that they have a working space with decent vibe, lack of sauna and very poor parking benefits gives this a 2/5 . If they had a parking benefit better then just 1 1/2 hr . I would give it a 4/5 . Change the parking benefits to 2 hr free and up to 3 hr for the $3 extra, just like the old town equinox , thanks :)

I was inquiring about a membership, and was welcomed very kindly. Abigail offered me a tour around the facilities and a free session. The gym was bright, spacious, modern, stylish and utterly immaculate, with numerous thoughtful details - massage guns/rollers, facial/body cleanser/cream, razors, shaving cream, shampoo, conditioner, etc. - that made the experience very luxury. There’s also a saltwater pool and steam room, and a very nice study area just outside.
Yes, you’re paying more than you would for an ordinary gym, but honestly, the whole experience makes it well worth it. It makes you want to exercise and take care of yourself. You come out feeling pampered and refreshed. For less than $10 a day, that’s money well spent to me.

I’m disappointed in the way this gym handled my membership after being hit by a car and sustaining injuries that required a temporary pause from physical activity, I reached out to request a medical freeze on my membership. I provided a valid doctor’s note and followed the proper procedures — only to have my membership abruptly cancelled.
When I later attempted to return to the gym, I was told I would need to pay a new, higher rate due to a “yearly membership increase” — despite the fact I’ve been a member for less than 12 months.
This experience raises concerns about the gym’s management practices and policies, particularly around compassion, communication, and fairness. Members should not be punished for medical issues beyond their control — especially when they’ve taken all the correct steps and provided professional documentation by requested dates.
I urge upper management to review how these situations are handled. Gyms should support the health and recovery of their members, not create additional stress or financial burden. Unfortunately, this experience has left me questioning the integrity of this facility and its leadership.

Small gym, nice interior. Equipment is of poor quality and there is no specialized equipment befitting a high-price gym. Better value to be found at Lifetime or FFC.

UPDATE!! The new management team has officially run this location into the ground. Machines are now broken for long periods of time. The spin bikes are always broken. The mens locker room always has issues, including showers being broken, no soap, and people VAPING.
Management seems to not care, nor what to fix any of the issues.

This is by far one of the best gyms in the city. I’ve had my fair of gym memberships, but this is by far my favorite.
The whole experience is truly amazing. The staff are always so friendly and helpful, the facility is always super clean, there is tons of great equinox, the the classes are great!
If you’ve ever thought about joining, this is definitely your sign. It’s a great experience.

I came here on a guest pass. I’ve never been to an upscale gym until then. In the locker room, they have everything you need to get ready. Razors, shaving cream, qtips, face wash and lotion, body wash and lotion, mouthwash, etc etc. there’s a small steam room with eucalyptus spray and a cold shower inside. No locks needed, no towels needed. They even have cold towels with eucalyptus on them.
This location has a small pool, no hot tub.
I was honestly surprised at how small the floor was. You can get a full workout in, but there aren’t a lot of machines and the cardio area is fairly small, though with nice cardio machines.
Amenity wise, I was impressed. Floor wise, not so much. LA Fitness may not be as “nice,” but there are a lot more machines and you can get a good workout much easier. I go to the gym to get healthier and stronger, not for the extras so I could never see myself paying such a high price for what you get here.

Left boots in the locker room (my mistake understood). Called the following day in the evening, person confirmed they are on the list of found items and they have them but that they don’t have access to the lost and found at the moment so come in during staffed hours. My husband goes in the following week they again say yes they’re on the list but they think someone set them aside after I called and they can’t find them at the moment so they will ask around and to give them some time to check with everyone then follow up. He then goes back again to follow up, only to be told items are donated after 5 days. When he explained we’ve been in communication and were told they set them aside for us and they had been looking for them, nothing but the same excuse. Very disappointing that we did all we could to recover our item immediately, and such an expensive gym can’t follow simple communication/lost and found procedures.

This gym is pretty well maintained for such a busy location. The staff is pretty friendly and attentive. The gym is generally clean all the time. My only gripe would be the awkward layout and the equipment is very dated with limited choices. You get a mix of young professionals and DePaul university students that frequent it. The college bros are little irritating sometimes and a bit unhygienic. I’ve noticed a lot of harsh reviews stem from the entitled clientele that frequent the gym and don’t really “workout” but go just for the prestige of saying “I go to equinox”.

I had a fantastic experience at Equinox! From the moment I walked in, the staff was friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. Abigail and Michelle were wonderful—communicative and eager to answer all my questions, making the whole process smooth and enjoyable.
I even had the chance to do a private Pilates reformer class with Kiara, who was phenomenal. Her expertise and enthusiasm made the session both challenging and fun. Highly recommend Equinox for anyone looking for a supportive and well-equipped fitness environment!

I had a facial appointment coming up this week and it’s been canceled due to the manager Rachel Rayburn letting the esthetician go. I was going twice a month to Nashylee for facials. She always gave me the best treatment and best advice on skin treatments. Very humble girl. This gym is over rated and front desk was always clueless as well when checking me out.

As a long-standing member of Equinox for several years, I recently visited the facility with my wife, who is postpartum, so that she could attend her workout class. We brought our infant son, with the intention that I would care for him in the lounge area while my wife utilized the workout facilities. Upon arrival, we were informed by Equinox staff that having a baby in the building is not permissible and were aggressively asked to leave the premises and were escorted out. We were advised that the presence of a child is inconsistent with Equinox's brand policy. Essentially, if you’re a family, equinox is not for you. Based on our experience, Equinox is anti-family, as a brand.

I recently visited the spa at Equinox for the first time and had a wonderful experience with Anthony. I received a microdermabrasion treatment and a chemical peel. Anthony was very friendly and took the time to assess my skin's needs, creating a personalized treatment plan. The results have been incredible, and the products he recommended have already helped my sensitive skin. I will definitely be coming back!

I was a member of this gym for about 4 months. I really did not like the sales experience. I was contacted a couple days a week for a few months to join. Upon joining, I was not given any information on the rules. I then got covid twice in one month and had to cancel a few classes then had my account suspended. I also got the feeling that I was in high school gym classes at times. If you showed up one minute past the start time most instructors ignored you or treated you poorly. It was really bizarre. I work odd hours and was hoping for a more luxurious and laid back experience. All of the classes I signed up for were yoga and treadmill and never full, so suspending my account was just not necessary. To top it off my mom got sick and I have to travel up north frequently for the foreseeable future to help out. They rejected my cancellation of membership. So I just cancelled my card. Overall, The East Bank will probably be where I go next.

It pains me to say this, but Equinox is just a glorified Planet Fitness. Their facilities across all 4 Chicago locations are so small. For $25 more dollars a month, I joined EBC and I’m truly getting the most bang for my buck. First, I hate how you have to be notified immediately when a class opens up, otherwise you simply won’t get a spot if you don’t book it within the first 5 minutes. This always happens with mat pilates and barre classes. It’s like you’re sitting there fighting for your life sitting to buy Taylor Swift tickets. Also, they’ve removed Kiehl’s products. I know myself and so many others adored Kiehl’s and it felt like such a luxurious experience whenever you got to take a hot, steamy shower after a good workout and use some of the best skincare / hair products. Also, their toiletries were always out of stock. I just don’t think this is worth it. PSA, if you drive and need to take your car, GOOD LUCK because parking facilities cap out after 3 hours. I once stayed 3 minutes over the allotted 3 hours due to having to walk to the parking garage (there was traffic) and I got charged $40! The staff wouldn’t do anything about it because I had overstayed my welcome in the parking garage by 3 minutes. I definitely did not renew my contract with them after 12 months. Please, join East Bank Club or any other type of gym. Equinox is a teeny tiny gym compared to other reputable, luxury gyms across Chicago. Equinox has such tiny facilities in terms of working out. You’ll have to be piled on top of one another during peak hours, and during regular hours there is barely enough room to have a good workout in. I am not trying to bash the brand, I just truly don’t think this is worth it. As someone who has experience with other luxury, reputable gyms in the area, go elsewhere…. Unless you REALLY need the status of the Equinox name.

I really want to like the gym because it's a beautiful and clean gym. However, the staff that runs it doesn't really take care of it. The front desk area always seems to be a hang out spot for the staff. The personal trainers are kind of rude and douchey to the other members at the club. The equipment is dated and awkwardly laid out throughout gym. This gym needs new management to fix the layout and the work culture of the gym. Moreover, it needs some more equipment like a hyperextension bench or something. The cleaning staff is always very friendly and keeps the locker rooms clean, so kudos to them.

Waste of my time - they don’t let you try the gym same day. I live here but I’m not going to “book an appointment in the future” to see if a gym is worth my time. Guy on the phone was very nice, but whoever came up with that policy needs to re-think their customer acquisition strategy lol.

Love belonging to this gym and the classes and instructors are incredible! Only critique is that I wish both studios could be utilized in between classes for personal use. I’m always getting kicked out by the cleaning staff, even if the next class isn’t happening until later in the day. I understand they are doing their job, but it would be nice to make an exception given the amount of money paid for a membership.

I have been a member since April 2023 but the recent experience has not been great. It’s nice, clean and group class instruction is fantastic. However, they either need to expand the facility or cap members as the gym gets overcrowded during morning and evening peak hours. The machines and floor space is over crowded to the point that people are doing movements in your space. It feels unsafe and has forced me to modify my schedule. When you are paying 200 plus a month for a gym membership, you should have access to machines, benches and racks without having to queue and be able to workout whenever you want. Also, my fav classes get full pretty quickly these days.

I have been a member since June 2023, and I used to love it but recently not so much. Equinox is very nice and clean and I get great workouts with my personal trainer. HOWEVER, they have let in SO MANY new members in the past 2 months that all the group fit classes fill up so quickly! For 300 a month I should be able to sign up for a barre class the night before, not sitting by my phone like I’m buying concert tickets for for when the class opens 26 hours in advance. There needs to be a member cap, or at least offer more of the more popular classes. I’m sure I’m not the only one frustrated with this.

I’ve been Chicago Equinox member since 2018 (and other cities since 2011). It was always expensive, but it would deliver with the quality of equipment and expertise of trainers. Lincoln Common has been my go-to since it opened, and honestly, it’s been disappointing me ever since. Class trainers are still top-notch, but floor trainers consistently engage in juvenile behavior (while training a client!) and occupy already limited equipment (and space), for which they are not paying $200+ per month. Speaking of equipment, at this point my family is spending $5K plus a year for the gym that HAS NOT UPDATED any equipment, even though the price keeps rising under the pretense of "investing in new equipment". The only reason I’m still contemplating canceling my membership is that you are 5 minutes away from my home.

I came here last week for a sunset yoga class in the courtyard in honor of Women’s Equality day. First of all, what an awesome idea! It was such a beautiful evening and it was the perfect ending to a busy Monday at work.
I signed up online and when I arrived, the woman at the front desk checked me in and showed me out to the courtyard. The mats were laid out neatly and people were filing in. I took a seat towards the back and chatted it up with the people around me who told me that the instructor teaching this class was one of their favorites. Christy, the instructor, came over and introduced herself to me. I mentioned that this was my first yoga class and she hyped me up and made me feel so comfortable! She mentioned she would be giving options for each move and she said to do what I am comfortable with.
The class began slow with some warm up stretching and then soon picked up. Next thing I knew I was doing some crazy fun yoga flows. Downward dog! Mountain pose! Chair pose!
Christy made the class so fun and I truly learned a lot. What I liked best is that she came around and coached us to help better position ourselves. It was nice to leave feeling like I actually learned something new.
The class was super relaxing but I sure felt it the next day. I left feeling so relaxed, happy, and grateful.
Did I mention it was Taylor Swift themed?! I’m not a Swiftie, but now maybe I am. Thank you Equinox and Christy for hosting such a wonderful event!

Booking swimming lane! Be aware that even if you have booked a lane a week in advance you will be kicked out from the time slot by a trainer which teach to someone with which of course they make more money as you pay for the private lesson, and this trainer (PT manager so she can do what she wants) will be unfriendly and it will be blamed on a technical bug as your time slot reserved has shrunken from 1 hour and 15 mins « by miracle ». We have 2 subscriptions since 2 years … wondering if we will continue. Front desk was super nice but could not do much.

I belonged to Equinox Lincoln Common right before the pandemic and for about a year after gyms were allowed to reopen in Chicago. The facility is amazing, Equipment is new(ish) and well maintained. Staff was always nice & friendly. They do a great job of keeping everything clean. Really enjoyed my time here. So why did I switch? Cost.
This location is now $200+/month. Compare that to FFC Lincoln Park which is less than half that and has more room and more equipment. FFC has a large turf area for functional training. Equinox does not. FFC has over 5 platforms for deadlifts/squats. Equinox has 3. FFC allows 2 hours of free parking. Equinox only gives 1-1/2. Plus crossing the street from the garage to the gym can take some time so you get even less time to work out at Equinox.
I sometimes think about rejoining Equinox because I really did enjoy my time here. The staff and other members are great. But FFC offers the same equipment (and more of it) and more areas for a wider variety of training. Sure I have to put up with the Lincoln Park "bros" but at half the price of Equinox, I can deal with it.

Before arriving at the gym, I filled out a free pass for myself and my friend from the website. We contacted Rob and agreed on Sunday morning for 10am. While meeting with us for tour purposes, I specifically stated that I am a personal trainer, and I added that I saw eqiunox in many influencers' vlogs and wanted to explore it. I think he thought my friend was my client and informed us that we could not use the free pass because he thought I would give him a session. Unable to do anything in Chicago's snowy weather and embarrassed to my friend, I came back home. This is a very unprofessional approach. Turning away a person who is planning his day when he comes to your feet is not something that befits a well-known so-called high-quality gym like you. I have a lot of things to write here, but you've wasted enough of my time. If the reader is a professional manager, they will understand what I am trying to say!

When I signed up in 2020, the GM was very warm, welcoming and understanding. A friend of mine canceled her membership with that GM and she had no issues, no hassle, and didn't get charged after asking staff to cancel.
Fastforward to December 2022 when I called the front desk to cancel, they notify me that the GM will get in contact with me to confirm cancellation. 1 day goes by, no call or email...2 days go by, no call or email...3 days go by, no call or email, (then comes Christmas weekend), following Monday STILL no call or email so I call back to the front desk, who assures me I will be contacted. By this point my card had gotten charged. Both calls to the front desk assured me that I should be able to receive a refund in this case.
The GM finally contacts me the following day (4 full business days later, technically 5) and confirms cancellation, omits any mention of a refund. When I asked her to confirm the refund, she stated that she can't do that. Hmm seems like your staff that answers most of these questions thinks otherwise.
It's also funny that you get texts from the sales team about guest passes/promotions and they'll reply to those immediately, but when you text back "who do I speak to regarding canceling my membership?" you get ghosted.
*Not to mention they constantly raise prices, 3 times in two years.

I have been going to this gym for 3 months, about 2-3x a week. I cannot say enough about the staff at Equinox. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and warm. Morgan and the front desk, along with many other team members, makes and effort to say my name. Shannon in the Shop, whether I'm just passing by or stopping in, greets me by my name. She is super helpful and friendly....resulting in a few transactions :)
The classes are top notch as the instructors are at an amazing skill level.
I use a trainer here and she is great - Bri.

READ YOUR CONTRACT BEFORE SIGNING. There are great instructors and amenities, but they have some bad practices when it comes to members. I signed my contract in the studio when I went for a visit and didn't have the chance to read it before signing the sales person mentioned it was a year long but I could canceled if I moved (he didn't mention the details). I moved away from this gym but not within my signed contract term of 25 miles (in the city I would have to move all the way out to Naperville). I accepted that they won't cancel and have been eating the cost for about 8 months now as it still will take me 45 minutes to get to the gym. I have reached out multiple time to end my contract on the end date and they will not do it. I have to contact the day I want to cancel and pay the remaining balance. Bad practices. Will not recommend or return to equinox and it's affiliated businesses ever again.

From the atmosphere, the feel, the staff and all the little extras they make sure to make you feel at home so you can focus on your fitness & health.. check them out and let them know I sent you 😉😋

Great gym and friendly staff. You're allotted 1.5 hrs free parking which is nice. However, you really have to rush your workout and shower to meet that deadline.
Parking contract needs to be re-negotiated. Hoping this gets amended soon.

I've been going to Equinox Lincoln Common for the past year and I am delighted to go every time. The staff is profession and joyful. I have nothing to complain about. Very clean as well.

After 3 months of membership, I’m very pleased with this club. The equipment is state of the art, the facility’s are kept pristine, and the associates are friendly.
There is one shortcoming however, which will unfortunately compel me to leave if it isn’t amended.
Parking.
Parking is free for 1.5 hours. After that, it’s $3.00. This doesn’t sound like much, but if you exercise 5-6 days a week, it adds up to an additional $70-$80 per month to a premium fee that I am already paying for membership. Whoever negotiated the 1.5 hour limit didn’t think it through. Parking my car in the garage across the street, riding the elevator (which smells like cannabis smoke everyday) to street level, crossing the street, checking in, changing....and then doing all of this on repeat PLUS showering take substantially longer then the half hour allocated to the 1 hour for actual exercise.
Sadly, this puts me in a bad mood having to pull out my debit card every time I exit the parking garage, which is counterproductive to why I go the the gym to exercise.

I know I’m boujie af, but I love this place. It really is a state of the art gym with high quality classes, instructors, equipment, and amenities. It also has a ton of space, which matters in a city laden with gyms that are way too cramped. Yes, it’s a little expensive, but boutique fitness studios are actually more, but for less.
