Dave is an excellent trainer. I’ve been a client for over a year and in that time I have made substantial progress towards my goals. I have seen him build customized, effective programs for people ranging from seniors to high schoolers which makes him unique. Well worth a call if you’re looking to improve your physical condition. Highly recommend!

I've seen Dave for close to 3 years. As an avid cyclist I was looking to supplement my biking with working on core strength, stretching and injury prevention. Dave did a screening and detected other areas to work on such as gait, joint stiffness and maladaptive movement habits that inhibited optimal functioning. I have met the expectations that I set out with and in the process, Dave has taught me so much more! With his stretching regimen I've eliminated all muscle cramps and I move much better. It's great to know that you have a trainer that is supporting improvement on your goals in addition to someone who is there to work on all the other physical issues that arise!

I've been with Dave for the last three years, and his workouts have been instrumental in my high school tennis and track career. The exercises I perform focus on strengthening and injury prevention, and better prepare me to consistently compete at the state level.

Going to Dave Johnson has been a game-changer. We have tackled head-on my body's tightness and several asymmetries. If you buy into his program, you will do your sport better. But, more importantly, you will live better as your core strengthens and your flexibility increases. You will also experience improvements in your cardiovascular system.

If you are an IT professional, step away from the keyboard and call Dave now. You won't regret it.

My husband and I have been training with Dave twice a week for over a year. Initially my husband started training with Dave to relieve his chronic back pain and sore knees. We are both in our 40’s and have increased our flexibility/strength. Dave’s workouts incorporate exercises promoted by leading fitness experts as well as from his background in physical therapy. Dave is truly invested in your health. If you are looking to feel and look your best look no further.

Dave is Physical Therapist/ Training. Very effective at addressing any specific trainings needs. Most workouts are a combination of stretching and strength training.

I'm a 62-year old cyclist and former triathlete. Before starting with Trainer Dave, I was always sore, frequently injured and going to chiropractors and massage therapies 3-5 times per month. In my 3 years with Trainer Dave, I no longer feel sore and have dropped the chiropractors and massage therapists. I've achieved normal flexibility in my hamstrings and neck, improved my walking gait and increased functional strength that powers my bike faster. Dave has helped me avoid a surgery for torn MCL on my left knee. I have neighbors that are two former NCAA Division 1 athletes now in their 40s who I referred to Trainer Dave and they are both with him 18 months later. Dave makes big investments tracking trends and developments from national leaders in fitness. If you are willing to follow the program, you will get healthier, more flexible and stronger.

Dave was a good trainer, and before my last session with him in July 2022, I would've given him four stars. But he sequed into his prior role as a physical therapist from 20+ years ago. I injured my MCL and he didn't believe me; said it couldn't have happened gardening and that type of injury required a direct and forceful impact to the outside of the knee. Tell that to my Oak Brook Chiropractor who sees numerous injuries from his multiple gardening and running clients. My chiro told me that gardeners and runners tend to overdo, and he sees many and various injuries in this group. I injured my knee shoveling too hard, too long, and hitting too many roots, etc. when planting a large area with a number of shrubs and dividing and planting too many perennials to count over two days, four or five hours per day. I overdid, and should've backed off training for at least six to eight weeks. But I went to train, because Dave said he should take a look. He didn't believe I had a ligament injury and directed me to do some extreme knee joint stretching, then had me lay down and exclaimed that my knee should be able to hyperextend "more", so he kneeled down and pushed with his hands/arms both above and below the injured knee until it did (hyperextend). It hurt like hell, and I believe it resulted in a more severe injury that still hasn't healed, six months later.

If you want to get strong, injury resistant, flexible and more mobile, there is absolutely no better trainer than Dave Johnson! Whether you are a young athlete (I'm 23) or an retired business person, anybody that walks through Dave's doors, leaves stronger while feeling and moving better.

I am a 81 y/o client of Dave Johnson who has been a twice per week participant since 2003. I have worked with Dave through rotator cuff and two total knee replacement surgeries. He has sped my full recoveries due to his background in Physical Therapy and advanced Athletic Training modalities. He is extremely careful that his clients do not get injured while increasing mobility, flexibility, and strength. My excellent health is a tribute to his dedication to his clients.

Dave has been guiding my training for several years. He has made sure my workouts are safe and no injuries come from the challenges he proposes. I never considered my posture to be a problem, but with a little work it has improved and allows for a more comfortable and longer workday. Compared to some of my friends- my age- 60’s, I have found my mobility and flexibility is much better than average. I can say I owe that health benefit to Dave, who has worked with me patiently. As I grow older I am very aware that now is the time to slow the aging process so I can do more much longer. I am aware of my age group needing surgeries for repairs or replacement and would prefer to avoid that happening with me. Dave is able to challenge without the boot camp yelling and screaming, who needs that? It is a benefit to me that he gives me β€œhomework” drills I can do at home on my schedule basically no equipment.

A good work out and good place to do it!!

As a 64 year old woman with a full reverse shoulder replacement, I feel so lucky to have found Trainer Dave. His dual background in physical therapy and training gives him the knowledge to work within your limitations and help you transcend them -- building stability, mobility and strength without hurting yourself! Start where you are, wherever you are, and you'll move better and feel better.

I am a 75 year old male and have been a client of EFR for over 7 years. Dave's approach to fitness with a focus on mobility and stability as the basis for strength training has served me well. My coordination, posture, strength and general ability to function at a high level for my age is a direct result of working with EFR. Whether a high school athlete, college athlete looking to the future or just someone like myself who wants to preform better in life and my chosen sports, EFR is a large part of letting me accomplish that.
