This is a great school for Taekwondo. My 4 year old son started May 28, 2022. When he started his voice was low and kind of shy. Now he speaks loudly with confidence. Flying V offers an outstanding Tae Kwon Do program for children and adults. I am very impressed by the level of personal attention the instructors give to each student. My son is learning so much about respect, kindness and, of course, martial arts technique. I highly recommend Flying V!!

This place is amazing!!! If you want to learn proper Taekwondo with excellence and discipline, this is the Place. Instructors here are strict and discipline but Fun at the same time. The quality of their class is top notched. If you want to be competitive and move up, they will push and support you. Students here go local and International competition and Win! Some even qualifies for Team USA! With all that strength and success yet they remain humble and down to earth and that’s what I admire about them. Master Vinson and Sir Harold are really great instructors. Our Son is part of the Competition Team and Demo and He loves His Team members, He feels at Home Here. This was our 3rd School and we can Finally say “the third time is a Charm,” We are staying!!! We highly recommend this School. They have lots of Students Here, why??? Coz they are that good!!!

My daughter have been part of the Flying V dojo for six years. We've been consistently impressed by the quality of the instruction, the kindness and patience of the teachers, and how supportive the community is. The teachers get to know and work with individual students in a way you don't see very often. The kids don't just work on improving their taekwondo skills, but on developing their character. As a parent, it's a delight to see them do so well on both counts, and have fun while they're doing it. Flying V is the one after-school activity they never complain about!

Flying V helped us feel at home when we were new to Oak Park, welcoming our hyper 6 year old into their studio and helping him develop into the 9 year old he is now. 🙂 It’s a wonderful outlet for kids who may not be passionate about other sports or physical activities, and the teachings engage the mind as well as the body. Excellent taekwondo training center. The instructors are superb. As an adult, they got me into the best shape I've ever been in. This includes strength, cardio fitness, and flexibility. My observation is that they are excellent with children. They teach respect and discipline, and it shows in behavior. If you want to learn taekwondo and get fit, you can't do any better than this. If you want to learn to compete, they get you ready for tourneys and support you at the tourneys. There is something here for every age group and skill level. Belt tests are three times per year. They prepare you for your next belt test with tapes so you are ready when the time comes. Very much a team environment that is friendly and fun. But you work hard for the hour or two that you are there. And again, the instructors are excellent - very skilled at the art and at teaching. Once I started (in my late 50s), I never missed a week except when we left town for vacation. You feel great after a training session. Typical trainee goes two nights per week for an hour. If you are on the competition team, then you go more often (you're training to compete, after all).

We just had our daughter's 7th birthday party here. She attends weekly and has learned a lot from TKD and character building--she asked to have her birthday there.

Her whole class attended. (They offer a terrific value for up to 24 kids!) It was a cold, rainy day and some of the kids were very wound up and challenging.

Master Andre and team first commanded all of their attention, then made the birthday girl feel special by making her a leader during games--the kids loved learning tkd basics and also racing obstacle courses--they were all giggles playing "dodge ball" on their knees with giant balls as well.

After an hour and a half of games, we turned on music, served hot dogs, snacks and sang happy birthday with cupcakes. We provided the food but the staff cleaned everything up.

Our experience overall has been terrific! We first started with Master Vinson and the Flying V instructors when they were located in Forest Park. Our son has been taking classes once a week since he was 3 1/2 years old. The instructors here are very personable and know how to handle kids, (especially younger ones that need extra help!) Our son is now 4 1/2 years old and loves to go to class. The Flying V Athletic Center also recently moved to a great location in Oak Park, Illinois that is close to everything. What is great about the new location is that it is 4 times the size of the old location. If you are looking for a place to bring your kids to teach them discipline and self confidence this is the place! By the way, they will also have a great time while they are learning.

Flying V is the full package for parents looking for an activity for their children* that combines high-intensity physical fitness with good citizenship. The instructors here, led by Master Vinson, are caring and hands-on ... they work with the students in a group and also 1-on-1. They not only coach champion martial artists, but they emphasize self control, listening skills and focus. The new location is a huge asset -- the studio is large, next to lots of area businesses that I can patronize, and with easy street or garage parking.
