It’s ok but getting too expensive. The only thing it really has for me now is its closeness to home. My wife and I joined as a couple a few years back and it was a decent deal. Fast forward to now: No more couple’s memberships so my wife quit due to the price and lack of working equipment. My single membership is now the cost of what a couples membership was. I used to love to use the pool but with the lack of (any locker room etiquette) I really don’t enjoy going in the locker room. There are always several random, overweight old men just hanging out buck naked. Not really my thing ya know. Be carful especially if you bring children in there. I do like going when I have time on Sundays but they close super early. I hear the Naperville Park District is building a new facility next door. Maybe that will be a better bargain?

My son came with his friends to play basketball & was racially profiled by a staff member. She later told the other members that she like them but their friend looked rough(their friend was my son) They all attend the same christian school and wanted to play basketball afterwards. This establishment will never receive my business as look as they have employees that operate in this manner. Very distasteful. I pray that Lord deals with the employee & employer concerning this matter & that's in Jesus name.

I registered for my two kids(my daughter and my nephew for swimming),they charged twice last month and this month too from my wife’s credit card. We went there 4 times in last 2 weeks without any success and every time we face a different employee and we have to repeat our story again and again. They are just testing our patience .

My husband and I stopped in to "check out" the Y last Fall. We were impressed by the size, cleanliness and variety of workout options, as we were given an individual tour of the facility. However, the friendliness of the staff is what put it over the top! From the moment that we walk in we are greeted by Veronica who is always helpful and cheerful. We so enjoy her that we time our visits in order to see her. Miles too, is always a joy to see, and while clearly busy, he will stop to briefly chat. Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn't mention Dwayne. Dwayne is constantly checking and cleaning machines but is also tasked with monitoring and checking the ages of kids, in order to keep everyone safe.
Yep! We're very pleased to have discovered the Y!

Try to find membership options, prices, and payment options on their website. Impossible until you give them all your information.

A generic Google search turned up a pdf with simple Adult, Family, Teen rates. Nothing about any discounted rates (like Senior rates), and nothing about payments — Monthly? Annually? Cancellable? Noncancellable?

Went to the Fry Family Y and was told “10% Senior discount . . . unless you choose the annual payment option, in which case there’s no senior discount.”

That didn’t make sense to me or the staff member who was trying to explain it to me. Went home to explore online. Nothing . . . unless, perhaps, I was willing to get past their, “learn more” page, by scanning their QR code, which I was not, or create an account, which I was not.

Why can’t the Y simply makes it’s membership and payment options open, obvious, clear, and honest on its website? Why does the Y make it so impossible to find this information on its website?

Our family just rejoined after a couple years absence since we joined the LA fitness on Route 59. We came back because the Y finally made improvements such as remodeled and upgraded the locker rooms and pool. Our family enjoys the large pool area, sauna , steam room & hot tub. Our son loves to work out there. We prefer the Y since is more geared toward families and it is closer to our house. Also it is not as crowded as the LA fitness

This facility has rekindled my passion for swimming. The pool is spacious enough for an effective workout, and the locker rooms have been consistently clean since I joined a couple of months ago. Fit Pass for 13-15 year old youth is an asinine rule. You're o.k. taking my money for a family membership, but my middle school kid can't use the weights without a once-per-week class? I think you should worry more about the aged 70+ people using the weight room with their arthritic hands.

Had a very bad experience. The instructor did not even inform us that she went out of country and no classes happened for 1 of the 2 months. When I reached out to the aquatic director, she wasn’t very responsive either despite me following up every other day. I wouldn’t recommend signing up for private swim lessons.

I use the Fry YMCA at least twice a week for a year. The building and facilities is updated. The pool was renovated in 2023. The gym and cardio rooms are also up to date. The locker room has been renovated.
The front desk staff is always friendly and competent.
I've taken several fitness classes. The instructors are personable and give you a good workout.

Have so far used the free weights, the elliptical and incumbent bike, plus did a senior yoga class.

I had enrolled my kid for swim lessons, the facility is good but the staff is not good at all. The swim instructor keep changing in every session and new instructor used to ask little kids 4 - 5 yrs of age to tell them what was taught in previous session. What do you expect from little kids to remember what was taught? Out of 30 mins session 10 mins is wasted lining up kids properly around the pool wall. Group size is another issue! average 9 kids in each session which makes it around 2.5 mins for each kid the instructor spends. The lesson directly started with arms and leg movement without teaching kids to make bubbles, team how to tread, float. Pool water has too much chemical than normal causing your eyes will burn for days! Long story short, membership, lessons is a scam. The facility is only useful if you take membership and just use the facility, don't enroll for lessons specially the group ones its a scam!

There are a variety of offerings from swimming pool to cardio and weights. There are basketball and other courts and they offer classes for different age groups.

Been a Y member for 15+ years, and this location is particularly frustrating. Come here because I like to work out (cardio and weights) and use the sauna. The sauna was closed for 6+ months last year when their bathroom renovation took 3-4 months longer than planned. And this year, they can’t seem to keep the pool / sauna open… always closing it down early due to staffing issues with lifeguards, broken heaters, sauna timers not being aligned to their hours of operation, etc. Very frustrating and disappointing. Hard pass.

It's always packed with teenagers who don't work out at all and keep busy the equipments doing nothing. Also, they shall improve the kid's swimming classes. It looks like there's no progress at all. They definitely need more well trained instructors for swimming classes. I feel my daughter is going backward in her progress.

Not a fan! No one knows what's happening ..joined Pilates reformer classes which is an extra $ and when I go no class/no instructor apparently I am the only one in the class. Then finally after a week the instructor calls and says she will book a private class as I paid for it(which I thought ok.. atleast I get some training)
Turns out she doesn't show up for the booked personal training class ... I ask the office where is she and she is already teaching some other class because she thought I am supposed to come at a different time .. which sounds ridiculous and now I have to chase myself for a refund!
Hoping I get my refund now...
I cancelled my YMCA membership less than a month. Personal experience is a avg facility for the price.
The only best thing is the private swim class which my daughter takes from Jenna! And that I say because the instructor is awesome! Not the the facility.

I recently moved to the area with a membership from another YMCA, which I'd planned on continuing. However, the membership fees at this location are much higher than those in the Metro East region, and they don't give a discounted rate to all veterans, only active duty. Thanks, but no thanks. I can get a family gym membership elsewhere for less than the cost for a single membership here.

Because they are owned by Chicago Metro, they are still mandating members to show a vax card, In Will County which has no such mandate. It’s a company decision and not a mandate! The kicker….they aren’t enforcing it until Feb, 30 days later! If it’s about public health, why wait 30 days and make it immediate! It’s all political and will cancel my family membership after 18 years. Planet Fitness does not force what should be a personal choice! Time to make a change

Enrolled my daughter on a pre school program at YMCA. she was so excited to join the school but after just one day of school, she became very uncomfortable going back the school. There is no curriculum and it's more like daycare. And so-called teachers are always on their phones during class rather than focusing on children's. Big mistake, would not recommend anyone here for preschool.

The Fry Family YMCA is a great place to exercise and stay fit! The Fry Family YMCA is more than a gym to exercise as it's a community with a diverse membership base that feels more like a family than a gym! We've been members for over 15 yrs and raised our kids around the various classes and activities offered. The pool should be open at all times. I only have member ship because I want to swim, they always have class so I cannot swim. I am for sure going to cancel my membership. They made this gym look so good, but really it is a dump. It should not be a gym it should be called a place for kids class and fun. This is not a real gym. Very poor management and untrained staff who doesn’t know how to talk to customer.
One day I was late for one of the Zumba class and their Manager/ building supritendent pull me out of the class because I was late. It was very humiliating and embarrassing. I am a paid member of the Y and I have seen many times people are coming late and going early from the class.
When I questioned her she said from now on suddenly their policy has changed. Whereas they did not mention of this rule when I joined Y or it has not been mentioned on their website too. When I wanted to talk to her about it she said she doesn’t want to argue and walked away. So much attitude.

Very bad experience here. Untrained staff. My wife and me had gonethere once as trial and the front desk told us we still had two extra trial. So we brought my daughters there for swiming as we wanted to see if they liked there. This time, people in the front desk changed and they said no to us, without any efforts to look for solutions, and regardless of it was their fault.

Zero stars! Worst staff ever for a non-profit orgainization. Occasionally my son and I attend this facility because of the later hours, however there's always an issue. My 12 year old son feels unwelcomed by one particular female lifeguard because of the color of his skin. Tonight, 30 degree weather, my son's 2 friends were unable to use the pool because their waivers weren't found on file. We stood at the desk for 20 mins while they searched for paper copies and interrogated a 9 and 12 year old about their names, parents names, address, date of birth, the last time they were there, and rudely called the boys names of other people who were in the system. Another lady steps in and calls the manager at home to ask what to do, and she's comes back to say sorry.... I interrupt her, and with a horrible attitude she states " are you going to let me finish?" Unbelievable, this woman should be ashamed of herself and should work in a less family oriented environment.
