Going here was the best possible decision I have ever made. Derek the trainer and owner at Gaining Ground is flexible with his schedule and cares about his clients. I strongly recommend coming here and trying out the personal training or open gym open 24 hours!! I have noticed in 1 year of coming here I feel so much better than what I did before. Derek will help you with whatever problem you have. Corrective exercises or building muscle, getting stronger or even kickboxing! If you in the Viola area you I encourage you to stop by and see what's up!

Recently I decided to hire Derek from Gaining Ground Fitness Club, as a personal trainer. I am able to do everything at home, as I don't have time to go to the gym due to work and being a single mom of 2 boys. Seriously the best decision I have made in a long time. I am finally sleeping again, have energy, and I'm finally starting to feel comfortable in my own skin. In a month I have lost almost 10lbs, and the change in my nutrition with his assistance has been wonderful. He looks at what I'm eating, helps guide me with suggestions and recipes, sends me daily tasks, my weekly workout schedule, and weekly check ins. He is always available in between those check ins to answer my questions and offer direction and advice. He works with you, is great at educating, especially as someone who is really focusing on fitness for the first time in my life.

I love that Derek has the option for doing at home workouts. He does a great job with tailoring them to how long I want them and which muscle groups to work on. Always has good contact with me about any questions that I have about any of the exercises and also nutrition advice. He is very affordable and the app that he uses is very user friendly. He is so awesome I have never stuck with any exercise program before and he makes it super easy.

Awesome trainer! Myself and a friend that has Parkinson’s do boxing training with Derek and he is very knowledgeable and professional! He is very patient and finds the best way to teach each person! Derek is an amazing trainer that has helped me to personally stay motivated and moving! I deal with a SLAP tear in my right should and before working with Derek I struggled with it everyday. Through corrective exercises, I have no pain when I’m sleeping on that shoulder now! I recommend Derek as a personal trainer 100%! He knows what he’s doing and keeps me on my toes with my training!
