About the Club

Our family has been on a difficult and wonderful journey that inspired us to create a place where people can experience joy and laughter not always found in their busy lives. Our farm name, Reverse the Kerrs Farm, has many meanings for our family. It's a tribute to our Chicago Cubs, our family name, and most importantly to our mission to reverse the curse and stigma around mental illness. If you visit us for goat yoga, you will hear us talk about our passion for improving mental health and promoting mental wellness through yoga and animal assisted therapy. Our classes most often lead to loads of fun and lots of belly laughs.

I have been coming to Goat Yoga Chicago for a couple of years, but now likely will not be back. I made the mistake of not checking the shopping center's calendar when booking kitten yoga. Turns out the session was scheduled at the same time as tree lighting. A few days before we received an email to come early as parking could be difficult. We arrived 45 minutes before our session time to pure chaos. Forty-five minutes of driving around and ended up dropping my children at the door so we all didn't miss out on the session. Dropped them and proceeded to drive around for another 45 minutes before I could find a parking space. At that point there was less than 20 minutes left in the session so I just sat in the car. I own my part in not checking the shopping center's calendar and not leaving two or more hours before my session time but I feel the yoga studio and/or shopping center should play a part in making sure people can attend sessions they pay for. I have been coming for goat, puppy, and sound bath sessions for two or three years and now I won't be back.

I had such a great experience at the Goat Yoga class! 🐐✨ The goats were absolutely amazing and made the whole session so much fun. Our yoga instructor was so kind and patient. It was hard to focus with the puppies running around, but she just rolled with it. The staff from Project Hope were delightful. I wanted to take ALL of the puppies home with me! A great experience for anyone that needs an hour to fill their soul with happiness. 😊

What a fun and unique experience! I brought my friend here for her birthday and we had a blast! The goats roam around freely, although there's someone sprinkling sunflower seeds to ensure everyone gets to experience them. They will hop up onto your back when you're facing down. They are gentle, but you will feel their hooves on your back.

Although the Beard had long heard of this odd exercise/meditative regiment, up until now I had never experienced it, but after learning it was only about fifteen miles down the road (at the Arboretum of South Barrington), I managed to wrangle reservations, a couple yoga mats, (Thank you Michelle Lee), and my companion and fellow adventurer Miss Kelly and off we went on a lovely Saturday morning to see what this was all about.
After meeting our instructor, we were shown the locker room area to store our stuff. We were encouraged to keep our phones available, however, since getting pictures was one of the points to doing this activity at all.
Once we were ready, we were shown into the yoga studio and told to pick a floor spot and unroll our mats. Once we were situated, the “guests of honor” were released from their van and brought in. About a half dozen goats entered the room and immediately began checking the place (and all of us) out. The goats were given fifteen minutes to “socialize” with the participants. In most cases this meant hugs, petting and cuddles. None of the goats were aggressive, butted, or bit at anyone. A few however, did crap wherever they felt like. To “Goat Yoga's” credit, their on-hand staff were immediately at work cleaning it up and washing and disinfecting any mats that were indoctrinated by the goats.

While many in the class were of age, body type and flexibility to successfully do the yoga, (including to my surprise Miss Kelly, who even approaching her ## birthday was still able to do 85% of the instructors’ poses which was Impressive really.), the Beard as one might suspect, had the flexibility of a standard 2X4. Although I did participate in the simpler poses and moves, for the most part I just fed the goats.

The biggest achievement is when one of the goats decides to jump on your back. This doesn’t occur that often, but every once in a while (in their pursuit of a few more treats) they will choose to do this, and one woman (pictured) did become the first of our group to get a “rider” during the session. Miss Kelly, being inventive, decided that if she placed a few treats on the Beards back, (during on of the kneeling poses I actually did), she might attract a guest.

Of course, that “guest” was George, the largest of the herd at about 70 pounds. My realization of this fact was two hooves on my back (for a split second) before George just hopped his entire body on top of me. (Pictured) Fortunately, the Beard is a “robust” sort of guy and had the sturdiness NOT to collapse in a heap. It is doubtful the tiny Miss Kelly could have supported George, so this worked out well. Having my knees and hands as weight bearing anchor points, I was able to hold George for a few moments until he determined there were other people who might still have some more treats hidden and jumped back off me.

At 50 minutes, the class ended, and we rolled our mats back up. Some of the people who hadn’t gotten close attention from the goats posed for pictures. (With the staff motivating the goats into photogenic positions.) In all it was a fun experience

For those interested in the particulars, a one-hour class/session is 39 dollars, and they have two different locations where it happens. You can choose the South Barrington studios, or the actual farm in Elgin. If you do the farm, for ten more dollars you can choose to take a hike with the goats. Finally, if goats are just too intimidating for you, this place also has "puppy yoga" classes you can sign up for.

So, if you are a person who enjoys a little yoga, or if you just love interacting with animals, this "can" be a stress lessening type of Saturday for you and so I will recommend it. If animals and their natural habits and tendencies are NOT something for you then this probably isn’t either. The Beard did enjoy both the experience and even all seventy pounds of George for those few minutes. Goat Yoga is mostly recommended.

I had wanted to try Goat Yoga for some years now and was finally able to go do it--and it was everything I wanted it to be. I love animals but this was such a special experience. The animals are so sweet and loving and cared for and the entire facility is clean and bright and everyone made sure we were comfortable and had fun. They made sure everyone of any experience level could participate--if you just wanted to hang with the goats you could, if you wanted to be a yogi pro, you could. I'd recommend to anyone and will definitely go again!

Okay experience, however the goats were a bit big and so heavy when they climb on you. One jumped off of my back and I fell. The class was also way shorter than 1 hour. The yoga was 30 min tops. I might try the puppy yoga next time.

This was such a fun activity! We hung out with the goats and got a good workout at the same time. Super cute studio and I really dig the names of the goats! Someone super cool and creative came up with this concept! I'd love to go back... I just need a few willing participants.🤔 Lots of places to grab a bite nearby afterward. You will certainly feel like you earned it!😉

Experiencing puppy yoga was pure joy! The mix of sleepy cuddles and playful jumps from the puppies made every moment special. While yoga usually brings peace and grace through movement, this time, it came from the smiles and laughter filling the room. Its a lovely yoga studio. Check in was easy and storing our personal items was clean and safe. Hand towels were given to all of us prior to the puppies come into the room and then again once the puppies left us. I felt clean and safe. I highly recommend this experience!!!!

Very fun, unique experience- highly recommend! Hosts were super nice also. Only recommendation is to have more goats or smaller classes so everyone gets a chance to interact w/ the goats. Also smaller goats would be better - these “kids” were a bit heavy. Pygmy goats would be great - they’re tiny so u can bring a lot of them in your van!

My friend and I did the goat yoga this past Saturday. It was a lot of fun and I would love to try the puppy yoga, but the one thing to mention is that the goats are 100% not potty trained and they tend to 'go' both #1 and # 2 quite often during the 30 minute yoga portion.

My fiancé (now husband) and I attended a Puppy Yoga class back in mid-August and had a wonderful time. We appreciated how the rescue had enough puppies for just about everyone in our class. I believe there were 6 or 7 of us total.

The instructor guided us through a nice flow as well. The flow was beginner friendly, so don't hesitate to try it if you're new to yoga.

Also, you may not even have to do yoga if a puppy claims your lap and sleeps on you for the entire session. This is what happened to us. We certainly did not complain and loved sharing our laps with the pups. Per the rescue, they were more engaged in the morning class. They perked up once treats were offered.

Overall, a unique experience and definitely worth checking out! The overall price may seem high, it goes to a good cause, so totally worth it!

The yoga studio isn't heated so bring layers if you tend to get cold.

Went with friends as part of bachelorette party. It was worth a once in a lifetime experience. The goats really stretch you when they get on your back but my favorite part was holding a baby goat at the end of the session. We went for Puppy Yoga instead of goat yoga and boy was it FUN!!!!!!! We had a wonderful yoga instructor, I wish I could remember her name because she was phenomenal and actually had us all focused and relaxed even though the puppies running around were causing many cute distractions!😆 The puppies we got to play with after the 30min yoga session were Rottweiler/Lab mix! They were so playful and loveable!!!!!! We played with them for about 30-45mins and everyone got about equal time with the puppies! Make sure you wear older, stretchy clothing that you can perform yoga in and that the pups might possibly kindly nibble on! They also go to the bathroom whenever and wherever they need to, but the ladies that bring them from the rescue place are so good about cleaning up the spots efficiently and break up the adorable puppy fights when needed!🤣 Overall, it was the best experience ever!!! My sis surprised me with it for my birthday and now I just want to bring other dog lover friends and family of mine to this place!!! I highly recommend it and book your reservation dates fast because this books up VERY quickly!!!

WOW! I literally have nothing but absolutely amazing things to say about GYC. I was lucky enough to partner with them for a Wellness Wednesday event at my job (Chicago Fire FC) and they showed up! I provided them with a photo and details of the event space, and they planned accordingly - tarps and fencing specific to our space.
Danielle was great with ensuring we had all of our ducks in a row and is very personable to work with. Her communication was consistent throughout the planning and setup process, and I couldn't be more thankful for her being a rock whenever stressors showed up :)
Plus, all of the employees that attended had a great time! I've heard nothing but positive feedback and am hoping to partner with them again in the future. Baaaamaste!

They deserve it so don't forget. They sell t-shirts also and it all goes to help the goats. We went to Barrington and lots of places to have lunch right there so we will be back

LOVED the experience with the puppies. I was disappointed that there weren’t more puppies and that they fed them right before we got there. They were so tired we couldn’t play with them much! I’d definitely try it again if you can find ways to improve those things!

Lots of fun and the yoga was good too! My daughter had been asking to go for awhile and glad we finally did. My husband said no thank you when I asked if wanted to come but after he saw our pictures he said we have to go again so he can go!

A fun and unique experience! I've been wanting to try this for awhile now, so I was super excited when my friend and I signed up! It's more about the goats than it is yoga, but we still got some good stretching in while getting to pet some cute goats. The goats will go to the bathroom during the class and one ate part of my yoga mat, but the employees are quick to clean up any mess. If you are an animal lover - you are sure to leave with a replenished soul :) Will be doing the puppy yoga they offer soon!

This was an amazing experience in every way! Myself and my 2 best friends of over 30+ years took the class. The instructor and staff were so pleasant & reassuring. It was informative in terms of the goats & yoga & how that came to be. Yoga is 30 minutes & then there’s an additional 30 minutes hanging out with the goats!
I am a lung transplant survivor of 8 yrs & unfortunately at this stage my lungs are in rejection & doing goat yoga was on my bucket list and today was non-stop laughter & pure enjoyment! Truly the “Best Medicine”.
I highly recommend this activity for anybody, it’s just pure fun and it keeps you totally in the present free from any worries! Yeah for the goats & goat yoga a winning combination!

This was a fun experience. The staff were very instructive and it was great to be so close to the goats and interact with them. Yoga was more on the basic side but overall it was a great time.

Amazing.simply amazing! No pressure,no stress,an experience that invigorated our body and souls! I will admit, after a long lethargic winter and pandemic with little activity, not to mention I'm 51 now and out of shape I will be sore, but a good sore.i definitelty have a new respect for anyone who does yoga to any degree.excellent instructor who was easy to follow, while keeping a true yoga experience and allowing us to also have plenty of goat time.we will return!

This was my third experience with Goat Yoga Chicago and my first time at the South Barrington location. Every experience has been amazing and the team always does a great job making everyone feel welcome and comfortable. The team goes above and beyond to make sure you get cute photos to document your experience with the goats. I would highly recommend goat yoga to experienced yogis or first timers because you’ll leave feeling relaxed and your heart filled with joy!

Such a fun experience! Jenny and Skylar were gracious hostesses. And the goats? A RIOT! A spacious, clean facility where there was plenty of room to practice. I learned much about, well, goats - and yoga, too. Our team had a blast. Seriously recommend. It's a trip and you'll leave smiling.

I absolutely loved this experience and plan on doing it again and bringing more friends. What a great way to melt away your stress. The yoga practice may get interrupted by a friend kid deciding to share or even snack on your mat but nothing but laughs the entire time.
