I’ve been connected to the GAR family for over 15 years now through close friends and my sister, who have all been students and members of the competition team. I can honestly say there’s no better place to learn the sport. The positive impact GAR has had on my sister and our family friends over the years has been incredible.

Beyond the core training, they also offer a variety of amazing programs and events throughout the year, always providing something new and exciting to be part of. The staff is top notch!

You are charged for the month and told you can use a makeup token if your child has to miss class. They don’t tell you that you have to PAY for the next month before you can use your makeup token. This is the second time I’ve lost money with this Gym. I was warned before signing up my daughter & sister that this gym only cared about money. Well, it’s true.

We celebrated our sons 12th birthday at Gymnastics Academy of Rockford and the staff went above and beyond for his party! There were kids from 8 months to 17 years old and there were plenty of activities for them all. Our son and his friends/family had a blast! If you are looking for a fun place to celebrate your kids birthday, I highly recommend!

My 7 year old daughter began taking classes here a few months ago. She loves coming here! I didn't know what to expect but I am super impressed. The staff is outstanding and I can't say enough about how professional and caring the staff is. Specifically, Faith and Molly!

My daughter attended GAR off and on for a couple years, then committed to classes long term and was very happy. In the past year there were significant changes in staff, some new instructors for recreational students came in and there was a new coach that did not interact with my child, just the team gymnasts. My daughter went from being challenged in a variety of ways to only working on a few skills. Attention to individual students dropped as instructors would stand by and watch students complete tasks in general, as opposed to last fall when kids were given individual feedback and physical assistance learning new skills. While watching my daughter class, I was also struck by how harsh and unforgiving the new coach was behaving. She scared children around her, and was frequently seen verbally reprimanding team gymnasts instead of offering constructive criticism. Please remember, even though they are skilled gymnasts they are elementary school children often seen crying because they weren’t capable of meeting the standards of their new coach. My daughter was approached to try out for team after a mass exit of team families. I spoke to still current team moms about time commitment and financial expectations. They expressed frustration with the lack of communication ahead of time, schedule changes, and the secretive nature of team expenses before payment was declared and due. After talking with coaches and an office administrator, I felt even more uncomfortable about the lack of information they were willing to give me regarding what I would be expected to spend. We have left the gym, as my child will not get the attention she needs to improve if she is not planning to join the team, and I would not feel comfortable allowing current GAR coaches to train my child. We hope the new program sorts itself out and that coaches take into consideration the seriousness of their attitude towards team families, and take responsibility for the changes that need to happen to create a proper environment for the children they train.

We signed our kids (ages 4 & 8) up for the parents night out. They absolutely loved it! On a Saturday from 6-11pm (I wish it was 5-10 but I'll take what I can get!) They had a large inflatable slide and free play in the big gym with all of the equipment. There was an Easter egg hunt, face painting, and pizza. On the way out, they informed us there will be another one next month & our kids want to go back. The gym was clean, and had adequate supervision for the amount of children in attendance. The cost was $35 for the first kid and $25 for the second.

Love all the hard work and dedication everyone puts in. The staff is wonderful. Very dedicated.
I love how the owner has incorporated a new program so that children with special needs can participate in learning the sport. That alone speaks of what determination she has to make GAR a better place.
Seeing the excitement in the kids eyes with all their accomplishments is truly inspiring.
Keep up the good work GAR

Where do I begin.
Steer clear of this gym. The new owners main goal is collect your payments. She does not care about your children. She does not care about ths gym. If you are not in her "inner circle" your child will not go anywhere in his/her gymnastics or tumbling career. Why? Because she fired the best of the best coaches for personal reasons. These are not speculations or rumors. These are facts. You can ask anyone who has left to go to a different gym. All the positive reviews you see here have been from people who have yet to see her greedy side. Parents beware. Coming from a parent who had her child there for over a decade and excelled exceptionally in gymnastics, she will choose money and her friends over your feelings or your child. Period.

For a place that once was an absolutely amazing organization it and has gone down hill extremely fast for the gymnastics program. To cancel a program about a month before competition season started and not offer any additional support or answer any questions if absolutely ridiculous. For a place that had been so well respected within the gymnastics community across the country has now became one of the worst ran programs in the area. While I understand business decisions have to be made but you MUST think of the athletes that are in your gym and that definitely was not the case. You left many athletes and their families to scramble to find a gym that would take them and struggle to get them into competitions. Had this been done in a professional manner there would not have been as many upset people but the new owners acted with less maturity then I've ever seen from a sports program. The former athletes are now striving in other gyms across the area and they are mending from the serious mental abuse that took place within the doors of GAR after the fired the coaches. They should definitely be ashamed how they handled the entire situation and i would warn against anyone signing up for this establishment. There is many places in the area that are better suited now

There is no words. I thought Gar would be my forever home but it ended so fast. After everything happened they canceled the optional program fired my two coaches who were my best friends and it left all of us devastated and really upset. It was right before competition season and we had to practically scramble to find a new gym quickly so we could compete this season. I found a new gym and it is amazing and was so welcoming. Nothing will compare to Gar when I first came. After the owner changed I feel like everything went downhill. I can’t even believe that all of this happened so fast. I wish that Gar would have stayed my home forever but whatever. We were mocked and laughed at by the staff. We weren’t treated the way we should have been. It was so unfair and we all deserved better! 😒😞

Where to start. From being one of the best Gymnastics gyms in the Rockford area, GAR was a mecca full of talented and amazing Gymnast ranging from all types of levels to also having gymnast receiving Scholarships from all school around the country. And I say WAS for a reason. For the last couple of months the gym has been under poor management from a new owner taking upon herself the action of firing two of our gymnastics coaching staff because of PERSONAL reasons that has nothing to do with our coaches teachings. When all of us (parents) wanted answers and demanded a meeting of why she took the actions of firing our kids coaches, she would completely and deliberately lie to all of us telling us that our coaches had Quit. The gym that our kids have called β€œhome” and a safe place all of their lives have made the choice to leave GAR to keep their integrity in tacked since this place has sadly become a hostile environment for all them. They do not care about your kids, is the reason why I would recommend you to stay away. You are just another customer at the end of the day.

There is no words to describe how bad this gym it is truly the worst. all they care about is money and the tumbling team, we finally got a new coach that was the best ever we all loved him and kaitlyn had to fire him. This gym ruined so many girls life including mine so many girls may have formed depression. This place was my home until they ruined it. I used to love going to practice and had so much fun but they ruined everything i really hope they run out of buiseness and stop making money which is all they care about. They also have really bad coaches that all will do is yell if you send your kids there there is a 0% chance they will get a scholarship. If you do want to send your kids to a gym i would recommend any other gym to be honest any other gym would be better. If you do send your kids hear number 1 dont number 2 dont number three your kid will be heart brocken.

I can't say enough about how fantastic our experience has been at GAR. The new owner truly cares and it shows in many ways. The facility is well maintained and the staff go above and beyond for the kids. Our family very much looks forward to our daughter's sessions and our daughter has an absolute blast and can't wait to return. Also, the new owners commitment to work with the disability community cannot be understated. This speaks volumes about her values and leadership.

Our athlete has been at GAR For two years now. She is a top State and National athlete because she switched to this gym. The gym is home to USTA tumbling and trampoline coach of the year. It only took six months for my daughter to advance three levels. The previous owners and the new owners are extremely passionate and caring and fair. This gym competes in USTA and USGA. In the pastBoth organizations give rave reviews about our gym, our coaches and our athletes. In the two years that we have been members of gymnastics academy in Rockford they do regular cleaning, Staff training and equipment updates. Yup

This gym was my home I’ve been there for almost 12 years but new owner ship ruined it and made us leave our home she fired one of our coaches for the dumbest reason and we all know it. She ruined the best part of the gym and removed an entire family and has now mentally destroyed some little girls lifes. I wish it all could’ve been different but in the end our home was stripped away from us for a reason that we will never fully understand.

It’s horrible they don’t care about there athletes and kicked out all of the gymnast because they only care about the tumbling kids they kicked us out right before season and at least they could have cared when we were leaving but no asa and everyone else was laughing and smiling while we were crying because we were losing our second family. Katlynn is a horrible business owner and she only cares about money and good reputation. They have stolen our home and second family. Now we are split up as some of us are at Aalto and energym I hate gar so much I hope it goes out of business and katlynn should be sorry for what she did I hope everyone in business there a gets fired they also need to be shut down because of a health issue because of SO many mice all over the gym especially in the foam pit and scattered all over the gym dead! Never go here unless you want your kid to be scared of adults because all they do is yell

My daughter takes the preschool class with Brandon and she loves it! He is so good with the kids and the class is very structured. We also had her birthday party here and I can’t say enough good things. The staff was so helpful from the moment we arrived, helping unload the car, set up, taking the kids to play, tear down, and loading the car at the end. The kids had a blast and the price was super reasonable. Thank you for everything!

Fun place to get the wiggles out! We've had a few regular tumbling/gymnastics classes here, birthday parties and visited on their Parent's Night Out. Always fun and gives children a chance to work off their energy. Birthday parties are a lot of fun because the kids are with all their friends, and similar to Parent's Night Out, they are moved from one activity to the next. They spend time in the big jumbo blow up slide thingy, on the trampolines, tumbling on the gymnastic mats, and up in the play room area, where there is a long slide, and backyard style jungle gym, kid basketball hoops and small assortment of electronic games that are fun, but probably 'cutting edge' in 2000. It's not anywhere close to the Virtual Reality that is available today, but the kids seem to enjoy it.
