One day, I went here because the gym staff told me I would be able to play volley ball. When I arrived, I was not permitted to play volley by the other people playing. I was told that I would need to sign up in advance to play. When I went to gym staff about this, they didn't do anything about it. Very disappointing.

With the recent opening of Lifetime Fitness down the street, this gym has became a hot topic on the street. Anyone who works out understands that theres a value for your money, and then there is the invisible line of privilege. It is 2025, and the same rule of business still applies, location location, location. This gym is located conveniently next to 2x 24 hour gas stations, a hotel a 24 hour CVS, a bank branch, a beauty salon, a jewelry destination point, and a Binny's. You can and you should get your work out in, go for a swim, pick up some fine wine or cocktails or champagne or whatever is clear. There is a lot of parking. The square footage of this LA Fitness is very well put together, you won't waste time finding the locker rooms or the swimming pool. You will be met with upmost respect and reminded of the hours of operations. We have been members of LA Fitness network for 10+ years and while they are privately held company, they do a lot for its patrons. We hold memberships to both LA Fitness and Lifetime in our family and we have seen the vague issues that mentioned in other reviews at Lifetime as well, regardless of the location or the suburb or the state we was in. Every business has its good and bad days, but its not reason to be sad or mad about it. With the holiday season around the corner, I hope to see more of you all at the gym, the best place to be to avoid traffic jam on 94. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Thankful for this place. P.S. There is a cafe concept space for sale inside this LA Fitness and there is so many business concepts that can take that spot and make it shine bright like we all do after a day changing work out. Imagine not having to drive out of your way for bubble tea, or Boba.

I joined LA Fitness Highland Park just two months ago to get back into working out. I really like my personal trainer, he’s been great, patient, and helping me make real progress. Unfortunately, LA Fitness as a business has been the complete opposite.
The gym constantly has broken machines, sinks that don’t work, a front door thats broken for weeks, and there hasn’t been hot water for nearly two weeks. Then, today, I walked in and found out the gym is closing permanently on November 20, giving members just 17 days’ notice.
I recently paid $720 for 9 personal training sessions and $118 for the annual membership fee, both of which I can’t use now. My trainer told me he’s out of town until after the gym closes, so I literally cannot use what I already paid for. When I spoke with Jessica Zavala, the District Operations Manager, she refused a refund and kept repeating the fine print of the contract, like she was a lawyer. She said I could “just go to another club” or “pick a new trainer.”
I don’t have transportation. The only reason I’m able to work out at this gym is because my wife drops me off on her way to work. I didn’t sign up to start over with a different trainer or go to a different gym miles away. I paid for this location, with this trainer, and expected LA Fitness to operate in good faith.
This is incredibly unethical and shows zero integrity. A multi-billion-dollar company should not be hiding behind contract technicalities while closing a gym with barely two weeks’ notice and refusing to refund customers for services they can’t possibly use. All I want is a fair refund for what I didn’t get.

Ladies, beware creepy men walking around Eun warranting giving you advice information on how to scope your body weird alert, weird alert, not to mentionmachines are outdated half of them seemingly don’t even work. The only people there are muscleheads who want to pump iron all day and all night and if you come there, they will definitely harass you to tell you that the workout you’re doing is not benefiting your body. I’ve had two different men follow me around the gym, questioning me, asking me for my name, telling me their name. I didn’t know if they were trying to hit on me or what telling me that I’m not doing the machines the way that they thought I should do them. Gym is run down. Be sure to have your tetanus shot before coming here. Equipment is old and rusted. The patrons are the worst. Mostly entitled old men and annoying dudes standing around equipment and talking. They tie up machines with their nonsense. They have a sizable sauna, but these guys ruin it by coating the unit in essential oil to the point of nausea. Never again. STAY AWAY

Dealing with the management here has honestly been a headache. The rules seem to change every other week, and it feels like there’s no consistency at all.
The current manager, Besam, doesn’t seem interested in the people who are already paying members. Instead, it comes across like his only goal is padding his numbers to move up the ladder. When I first signed up, I was told guest passes were part of my membership and I used them regularly without issue. Once the new manager arrived, that perk suddenly vanished. Now I’m being told my original manager “gave me the wrong info,” which feels like a convenient excuse.
If you’re considering joining, I’d recommend avoiding this place. Find a gym that values its members and keeps its word—you’ll save yourself the stress.

There is a guy who sits at front who is probably the man guy old enough to, he is so rude all my friends go to this location and I planned to aswell but just because of him i changed my mind, there is no sense of customer service and he speaks only if he can benefit out or else he won’t even talk, he is teaching the same to the young lads working there. UPDATE: When I signed up, I was promised I could bring a guest whenever I wanted as part of my membership. For two months, I brought my friends with me without any issues. Then, after the gym got a new manager, I was suddenly told I couldn’t have a guest anymore. The new manager claimed this was never an official policy and that the old manager probably made it up just to boost signups and earn a promotional bonus. This kind of bait-and-switch is unacceptable. Avoid this gym at all costs.

When I first signed up for a membership at this club, the manager, Besam, handled the process. At the time, I thought he was genuinely trying to help me choose the right plan. But looking back, it felt more like he was trying to trap me with confusing options and pressure tactics.
After finally choosing a plan and signing up, I was charged an unexpected extra fee just two weeks later. I tried calling Besam, but he never returned my call. When I went in person to speak with him, he was rude, dismissive, and showed zero communication skills. He simply said, “I’ve been doing this for nine years — that’s your problem! You signed it!”
It was a frustrating and disappointing experience. I would strongly advise others to be very careful when dealing with him during the signup process. Make sure you understand exactly what you’re agreeing to — and don’t expect much support afterward.

Honestly, the management at this place is a joke. Besam, the manager, clearly doesn’t care about members—he only cares about getting promoted and signing up new people. When I joined, I was told I could use a guest pass anytime. Several stepmasters have been in disrepair for weeks or months , TV screens missing or not working , and some other equipment is in disrepair, neglected, and no attempt seems to be made to paint or repair it !
Otherwise the group classes ( Zumba ) are really good, etc

I’ve been a member of this gym for almost two years, and in recent weeks, I’ve noticed a serious decline in the quality of some services. Most notably, the hot tub is frequently out of order, and rarely available. While management often posts signs stating it’s “under repair or service,” there’s never a clear timeline for when it will actually be functional again, which is incredibly frustrating.
Additionally, the cleanliness in the men’s restrooms is unacceptable. The toilet conditions and overall hygiene are far below the standards one would expect from a facility focused on health and wellness.
I strongly urge management to take immediate action. The ongoing lack of maintenance and cleanliness is impacting the member experience, and if not addressed soon, more clients—myself included—may begin looking elsewhere.

I scheduled a private session with the manager,paid them upfront,and they simply didn’t show up—no call, no message, nothing. I rearranged my schedule for this, and it was a complete waste of time. In general, this is a nice clean gym to exercise. During the year 2024, more than dozen times the door was not open at 8am on sunday morning. The manager of this location needs to do something better. Winter time, Peoples have to standing in cold weather for half hour, even longer time to waiting the door open.

A suitable, clean gym for the price point. The equipment is a little outdated, but functional. The place is never super busy so you can always find a machine that suits the exercise group you’re working out that particular day. The locker rooms and showers are very clean, and the pool and hot tub are both sanitary. There are certainly better clubs in the area, but they are far more expensive and likely more crowded. Be sure to bring your own towels as they do not offer them!

I had a disappointing experience at La Fitness. I brought a guest with a free pass, but the AGM, Gabe, wouldn’t let them in, claiming they had a membership in the past and even accused us of lying. Gabe was very rude throughout the interaction. We’ve been to other locations without any issues, so it was really surprising. I hope they can improve their guest policy and customer service in the future.

I've been a member here for a long time but the staff and facility maintenance is really getting bad. Sometimes there's no one even at the front desk! Before the pandemic, they actually had staff onsite (including cleaning staff) to assist when needed and supplies to sanitize the equipment. When I've visited, the women's locker room often smells like a sewer that's about to back up. Floors and equipment are often dirty looking and the whole place just smells like sweaty feet. Recently, I even had to chat with an employee (Phoenix...who was very nice!) about an older gentleman smoking some kind of device (turned out to be a vaping pen) in the hot tub, as well as the numerous times I've seen people swimming and using the hot tub in unacceptable swimwear (i.e. - their underwear). Unacceptable. This facility either needs to close or do an overhaul of their management, policies and how this place operates.

Highland Park/Glencoe residents, are you blind? Or perhaps you're just used to the finer things in life, like rusty exercise equipment and a 'LOW ENERGY' atmosphere. Even the dystopian XSport Fitness in Skokie has more pep than this place. It's like working out in a tomb. The battle ropes? They're probably there to scare away the living daylights as if strategically placed to swat away any unsuspecting souls trying to do floor workouts. And don't get me started on the tiny stretching area. It's smaller than my cat's litter box.
The only saving grace is the adorable staff and the clean pool and shower area. But the lockers? They're straight out of a time capsule. I guess they're trying to give you a taste of the past, or maybe they just forgot to replace them.

LA Fitness is a good deal for cost conscious consumers. However, like auto owners who drive their cars until they no longer work, LA Fitness does not fix the frame rugs and only fixes nonworking Eanes and televisions if somebody complains. There is not a person who goes around and checks them proactively at any of the locations I’ve been to. Calling the national office merely sends the message to your local club which is the one somebody may be complaining about. Not good quality control. The price is right, but the people in the clubs that you raise problems with are not in a position to do something about them or are not interested or have been reprimanded. One thing that club should have (and some did at one time) is a centrifuge or a ringer to ring out wet, bathing suits so when you take them home in your car, they’ll dry out easier and sooner. there’s no way to make this suggestion effectively. Also, in some clubs, such as Broadview Illinois, the staff only puts two or three different Fox News channels on several channels, leaves other channels with the screensaver saying “DIRECTV” and does not make an adequate selection of other news . The more expensive Signature club in Skokie Illinois did not have as good facilities as a regular and slightly more rundown club within 10 miles. The clubs in Broadview and Glenview Illinois have good refreshment stands. The club in Highland Park Illinois no longer has any refreshment stands. It is tried several and each one has quit. The company likes to have people rate their visits however there is no essay question or way to, explain anything other than yes or no and Employee greeted me when I left. This is the mark of the organization does that does not want genuine feedback – it only wants to collect data so it can discipline its employees for not having a clean condition or not having said good night to customers. The clubs have a not very nice employee culture and in case of most businesses culture comes down from the top. Costco is a good example. LA Fitness is not a good example.

Staff consistently has always been great here for the almost 3 years I’ve been coming here until late last night by the woman up front. Completely unwarranted, I was treated in a confrontational and aggressive manner. I understand people have bad days so I can understand and forgive but I’m a human being not a container for someone to dump their negativity. Kindness is free and should be easily given to those who have given it to you. Please be more self aware in how you’re treating others. I left feeling uncomfortable and that has never happened before as this is my home gym. Totally strange, so I thought I’d leave this here.

The way he helps stretch you prior to/after work out, and all of the workouts are extremely functional and helpful for the average person.

I had a contract with them that should have ended January 23rd, 2024. I had sent in all necessary paperwork to cancel my gym membership and they keep charging it for the trainers. They are predatory and you should not sign up for a La fitness membership. I have to cancel my credit card just to fix this mess and dispute their fraudulent charges that had continued past the contractual date.
They have in total overcharged me $585

The place is excellent including manager, front desk and best janitorial service.
Unfortunately the rules in the swimming pool and spa are zero. Members don't shower before entering. 15 cloth hangers not used but using the chairs instead. The final very bad news about the rule using the pool is two persons per lane before the training that starts at 9 AM .
Oriental ladies come at 8 AM and block the swimmers.

Went in person to try and cancel my membership but was told that wasn’t possible at the time, and that I would have to mail a form in order to cancel my membership. Membership still wasn’t cancelled weeks after sending the form. Called the location and was told to talk to operations manager at 4:30 pm. Call at 4:30 and was told to wait 10 minutes because he was busy. Call ten minutes later and told the same thing. Call again ten minutes later and an incredibly rude younger femalw told me he isn’t available and put me on hold just to hang up 10 minutes later. If you sign up for a membership at this club your basically signing up for life since the front desk people provide zero help. The gym is crowded, dirty, and overall significantly worse than the surrounded fitness clubs.

Prior to transferring to this gym, I visited other local gyms such as Planet Fitness; however, in the end, it was Abdoul’s customer service made all the difference. I have multi-club membership and often bounce around due to travel and work. I visited this gym and was greeted by a very friendly and upbeat young man. However, he noticed me looking at the pool. It was full and I was evaluating going somewhere else.
He assured me that the coach running the majority of the lanes in the pool was very good about sharing with guest. Well that was exactly not what happened. After an hour of being here I still wasn’t able to get in the pool. Besides the fact that the young man who was the coach was very condescending of the people he was coaching. Further, during my 60 minutes wait for the pool I watched him sit on the phone for 25 minutes and then young men just stood in the pool waiting.
This isn’t sharing the lanes and since the front desk person stated they were already here a long time it’s very unfair to guest. Wasn’t a good experience, just wanted to swim!

I am a long time member of LA Fitness and the Highland Park location is my home club. I had a very sensitive issue regarding membership and met with the Operations Manager, Zack Agard. He could not have been nicer, treated me with great care and respect, and resolved my issue very quickly. It was so refreshing to be made a priority and treated with care and while Zack is a very young guy, he clearly understands the importance of good customer. care. Thank you Zack for being a great listener and problem solver, the club is in great hands with you running it!

Honestly I haven’t been there, but I’m a little bit sad after I had a conversation with one trainer this afternoon. I don’t know if you encourage your trainers to talk to strangers on the street, but I think this is not the best idea, you should make sure that your trainers are more educated or at least try not to comment over other people’s body without them asking.
I was working today in a mall and one of your trainers approached me, and started talking about joining the gym. He asked me about my goals, when was the last time I worked out, if I wanted to weight 120 pounds and stuff like that, even show me pictures of his weight lost journey. I told him that I work out every day, that I’m very happy with my body and that I workout because I want to be strong. Then he said that it was good and that I now could work on not getting hypertension or diabetes.
I honestly don’t think he might have a bad intention but this is not the way to approach people to make them go to the gym, believe it or not people have a mirrors in their houses and if I was unhappy with what I see, maybe I’d be there.
This is literally the reason why I don’t go to the gym, I don’t want the trainer to judged me only because I’m chubby, like if this was a bad thing, or if only because of that I’m sick. You guys should do better and be more respectful over people, mind your business and maybe help people who’s actually there asking for help, instead of harassing people who’s just living their life and trying to go through the day.

This became my "home" gym. It's a very clean gym. I have maybe come across one broken equipment the year I've worked out over there.
I enjoy this gym alot. Really do not have anything bad to say about this gym. I think whoever is managing this gym is on top of their game...
Probably should have give it five, definitely closer to 5.

I am coming from Morton Grove to this place because is cleaner than others and not very crowded. I like the most Fatima, the cleaning lady that always is keeping the place clean and safe. Staff is very friendly and I suggest them to be more aware that some people ( not many like other La fitness).don't wear masks. Over all I am satisfied with the place.

Today I went to this location at 5am to do cardio, there were barely 5 people at the gym and they were at least 20 feet away from me,Now I understand the mandatory of wearing a mask when there are people around but why we need to wear it when there is nobody around? The girl at the front desk asked me to pull my mask up which i would have been ok if she would have ask everyone not just me because i was at the front row. I felt discriminated because the other 4 people did not have the mask on. Also according to CDC if doing high intensity activity, if there are no people around you can take off ur mask, and fyi moist and sweaty masks are not effective...

Worst customer service I have ever had the misfortune of experiencing. I had to cancel my membership three separate times and finally had to threaten to do whatever necessary to get my money back to get them to cancel it. That was last fall, and they charged me yet again this week! Awful conduct by a "reputable" business.

Great gym, if you need a membership in the area this is really the only option if you want good equipment and don't want to sell a kidney for lifetime. But still hate the salesman trying to really strongarm you into joining. I have liked this gym overall and the fact they have good equipment/swimming pool to workout in...although the staff can be nice, I still had an issue here to the point where I don’t know about coming back. That issue being they try to bribe you about paying the day of for a workout program and make you feel bad if you don’t. I was told “Good luck” in a sassy way when I decided not to sign up for a program right away even with a discount. To LA Fitness: I am not sorry when times are still hard right now, but be more friendly. To the public: beware of what you sign up for

I like that there is a lot of equipment and the facility is rather clean. Front desk staff are friendly.
However you get what you pay for. Many of the regulars are arrogant and have no regard for public safety. Many masks aren’t worn and upper management does a terrible job of enforcing the county’s public safety policy.
In other words, don’t join without a vaccination.

Extremely poor equipment maintenance. Exercise machines stand with signs "scheduled for service" for months. Cleaning people generally doing a good job. The rest of the "personnel" do not care about anything at all. All they care about is their commission for signing you up.

The machines are always dirty. I've told the manager many times but the staff won't clean the sweat and muck from the machines daily or a few times per day. It's a gross and smelly experience at times.
