It's older place needs a little touch up but it works.. you get what you pay for... People that go there are the issue not the club. You got weed smoking, shaving in the sauna, people talking on their phone on speaker like I need to hear their conversations. Listening to social media or music on speaker, not to mention Bluetooth speakers in the pool area blasting garbage music. Use headphones people! It's just the culture or lack there off..

Update 11/06/25: Returned to this gym recently. Really well maintained now! Great job.
Update 12/9/23: new cleaning crew is doing a better job of maintaining locker rooms & especially shower stalls. Previous cleaners were unbelievably good setting high bar 👍🏻Machines are maintained and early AM front desk is super sweet. No more blaring, echoing Bluetooth speakers in pool area 🎉
Update 8/10/21: after multiple complaints by multiple people to multiple departments at LA Fitness aka eSPORTa they're finally enforcing no speakers in pool area 🤞🏻👏🏻

The manager at this facility is awful at enforcement. The pool area now has multiple people BLASTING their own BT speakers competing to be loudest. Multiple complaints, other members tell me they complain often, and one claims someone's told them to find an "older person friendly" gym then. I've also spoke directly to the manager. Nothing done. Can one imagine the echo effect blastic speakers have in the pool area. Deafening!

My experience there was not good at allllll!!!! I was damn near insulted by the “manager” to get in a membership when I only had a 2 day pass:) I get it it his job I’m in sales , but telling me “I don’t know my worth” bc I won’t get a membership is kinda insane. The manager of this gym should be fired. The amenities we members pay for are not fulfilled. The hot tub is constantly out of service for repairs and it takes up to a year to have it fixed. I signed up for a personal trainer and the manager literally cancelled my classes and rescheduled even after the agreement was reached to have my scheduled classes. I don't have to re configure my whole week only because the manager did not train his associates well in explaining the contract and leaving out the most important details of the contract that we the customers need to know. Payments can be made weekly or monthly and classes are arranged once twice or three times a week and scheduled but the payments made monthly leave you unable to take the classes scheduled for your week until your next month's payment? This is theft its fraud and the manager should be fired and in prison for this. I am extremely unsatisfied with the manager at this gym. Please La Fitness fire this man or replace him

The gym looks decent when it’s empty, but that’s about the only time it’s usable. During peak hours, forget about getting an efficient workout. People treat the place more like a social club than a gym—machines are constantly occupied by folks just chatting, and it’s nearly impossible to get a full session in without waiting around.

To make matters worse, no one puts their weights back, so you end up spending more time hunting for equipment than actually using it. The locker room and bathroom also have a consistently unpleasant smell, which makes the whole experience even less appealing.

At $50 a month, this place is a joke. You can easily find a cleaner, more organized, and better-managed private gym for the same price—if not cheaper.

Wouldn’t recommend unless you’re going at off-hours and have a lot of patience.

This place is HORRIBLE! Do not get a membership here. My teenage son got a membership when it was Esporta. He has tried cancelling his membership for months and they keep telling him he has to pay another month and then can cancel! Even after speaking with Brianna and she guaranteed me his membership was cancelled and no more money would be withdrawn from MY bank account, a week later they STOLE another month! They are a shady horrible business and DO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP WITH THEM. They are incompetent and horrible thieves!

Terrible experience at LA Fitness! I got a membership for my dad specifically because they said the jacuzzi was working fine. It’s been TWO MONTHS, and it has only worked ONCE! Every time we ask about it, we get the same excuses. If they can’t maintain their facilities, they shouldn’t be misleading customers. Not worth the money—false promises and poor maintenance. So far I been here for 13 years on and off I love it good spacious gym people are cool close to home gym. They let me bring in my equipment I got everything I need here i don't care about the management they always get replaced. The problem I will say is the class instructors bully you out the Room if your not doing there class . It’s a biased opinion I pay just like everyone else . The boxing bags are In there for a reason . Why haven’t In there if you can’t even use it ???? I use to love coming here for the sauna and open classes. But the gym is so small that trainers and instructors started kicking me out the stretching areas and rooms when they had their classes and trainings, so I had no where to go to stretch or do my floor exercises. I stopped coming here. Trainers need their own area and not on public sections where paying customers also utilize.

Nice gym. Seems a little bunched up together but tons of great equipment. I do wish they had more cable machines as I only saw one next to the studio. Only reason I keep coming here it's because it's close to my house. 1. Seems like almost every other month the sauna is down. The sauna has been down 2 weeks and that's one of the reasons I have a membership here. 2. The training staff are very rude. Whenever I'm in the training area I get asked to move when there's no class. I respect people time if they are training then I will move with no problem however if the area is not being utilized why can't I use it?

The cleaning employees clean the machine while you’re using it and it’s ridiculous. This happens every time I’m there. At first they were just cleaning the front/sides of the machine which is annoying but fine. Then the other day I was running full speed on the treadmill and this employee with blue braids is mopping the area on the treadmill where you put your feet when you can no longer run. Use your brain. It’s dangerous and disrespectful. Contacted corporate and nothing has been done. They’re still doing it. It’s not even near closing time either so there’s no excuse.

decent gym, but what makes it so good is the employee attentiveness. there’s a young man that closes who is very nice. It was another late evening at the gym. I had been here countless times. I noticed him almost immediately. A young man, probably no older than 19, was going about his usual closing routine. He was attentive, moving quietly from machine to machine. His presence wasn’t imposing but strangely comforting. Maybe it was the way his dark eyes seemed to genuinely take in the room, watching over everything like a silent guardian. I had seen him a few times before, always around closing time. As I went through my last few sets, my focus drifted. I wasn’t paying attention when my foot slipped on the edge of the treadmill. Everything happened so fast—I reached out, trying to grab onto something, anything, but I felt myself falling. he was there. His strong hand caught me before I hit the ground, steadying me with surprising ease. “You okay?” His voice was low, but I could hear the concern in it. For a second, I just stared at him, mesmerized by how quickly he had moved, how effortlessly he had come to my rescue. I managed a nod, still in shock. “I didn’t even see you coming,” I said, trying to regain my composure. From that moment on, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this wasn’t just a gym anymore. It was a place where I felt safe, where I knew that no matter how hard I pushed myself, there was someone there who noticed, who cared. Every time I came back, I would see him, working quietly in the background, and I couldn’t help but think that maybe this gym was special not because of the equipment or the atmosphere, but because of him. i think his name is fabian

I just started going to this facility 3 months ago. The employees seemed nice until today. I was approached by the so called director of personal training as I was Streching .She had a weird grin on her face and she proceeded to informed me that the area I was in was only for personal training. This facility easily makes for one of the least favorable LAF locations. First, the parking area in front is pure wack job. The design nd markings are terrible. You'll see if you visit. Next off, I was seeking a guest pass, asa visitor but was told the dnt do guest passes. However, one of their long term members who struck up a convo with me on the way in, who I presume thought I was a mbr advised that they do guest passes since he brought it up. When I was told no, I got the impression the counter person was being selective. The other observations for disappointment are that I saw no free weights unless hidden by the barrage of treadmills everywhere. That's all yu see for the most part. Again, design plays a factor inside as well as the locker rooms are situated in an area that botches you up walking to it. A big downer, I suppose bc they have a low membership, is that there is absolutely NO, NONE, NADA paper towels available in the entire locker room. Now, that's mind boggling nd a first that I've encountered from the many LAF ctrs I've visited. Finally, the heat ofda sauna was childlike. Heat heals, turn up! Leave it up, wayyy up like the phat Joe song 🎵 says!

I like this facility of LA / Esporta fitness. I've kept the same rate since they were called Bally total fitness. I feel that the cleanliness of the Oak lawn location, such their upkeep on the facility being stocked as well as clean is is very
low. Things I speak of are as such the locker rooms and the hand/sanitizer wipes around the workout area is very poor. The locker room is always wet with water all over the floor and counters and even near the toilets/urinals.

I don't know what some of the male members do, but they're always seems to be hair on the toilets or the urinals It doesn't always look like hair from the top of your head if you know what I mean. I noticed most of the time members don't clean up after themselves. I walked into the locker room one time and by the sink there was blood from maybe someone shaving but who knows. Whoever the member or guest was, they did not clean it up. The staff was told and it felt like it took them an hour to at least clean it up. This isn't the first facility under this brand that I've been to that I have experienced that or even looks like that with the hair on and around the counter or the toilet / urinal area.

I used to go to LA fitness in Alsip,IL until they closed due to not renewing their lease for whatever reason. It was a two floor and very spacious facility. It had great customer service and the people working the desk were excellent. They had great equipment and enough for people to use if it was quote unquote the busy season or the busy period of the day. The Alsip location's upkeep with hand sanitizer, paper towels/toilet paper and most of all the cleaning of the locker rooms and the workout area was great. If a member / guest notice something out of the ordinary being empty or unkepped, the staff when notified would take care of it in a timely fashion. I know things can't be perfect but things in any facility that you work out in or frequent should be up to some kind of standard to make people want to join and be returning customers. That goes for all businesses and gym locations. Places need to be up to health standards so people don't get sick, injured so businesses stay open.

The only reason I would give the Alsip facility a low rating is because they had way too many thefts in their locker rooms. This makes people in any gym environment, now have to carry their bags with them, leave things in their car or not even want to be a member or frequent that location at all.

Overall, I will say that the oaklawn LA Fitness/ Esporta hours we're a little bit longer not much compared to my old location. If they were still open I would frequent the Alsip location even though it's a little bit further from me. I would have to say depending on traffic / weather it was about another 6 - 7 minutes. I would like to go to the Oak lawn LA fitness on 95th right by Amazon fresh but that one due to closing of many facilities and being new seems to be more crowded at all times of the day. I'm not the only one who has noticed this but they seem to have less squat bars/strength training equipment and more cardio. When dealing with staff which I haven't done often I've noticed them to be great to answer questions and to help you out. The facility is clean in the workout area as well as the locker room. I noticed the few times I've been there that they have been clean and well stocked.

Unbelievable gym etiquette.

The only reason I have a membership is because I have access to other La/Esporta in the city. One of the things that you’ll notice is that the temperature of the entire gym is higher causing people to sweat an excessive amount. While this is not a bad thing, this makes the habits of the members even more unbearable. No one ever cleans their machine, nor do they put back the items that they used when they found them. The free weights section is a disaster. 1 45(lb) dumbbell will be at the end of the section where the 100s should be, and the other 45(lb) is across the gym. Another big issue is the wipes. If not harder for people to see a sign that says clean after yourselves, the wipes aren’t properly restocked. Further fueling people to not clean what they used. The bathrooms don’t even seem to be cleaned. I come in the night before then the very next day to find everything exactly how it was the day before. Unclean and all over the place. Regardless of my review nothing will be changes. Just a fair warning for those who are interested in this specific gym. It was an LA before, then a “remodel” happened. Other than the name being changed to Esporta and the addition of a turf nothing changed.

I already had a horrible experience in the pool before with men in underwear really like brown trousers, people drinking alcohol inside the pool and men harrasing you with their looks like they have been in a dessert island, plus nasty hazy water in the pool but now with the bycycles they have 5 only and 3 are broken

I attended the Thurs 9A Aqua Aerobics class. The instructor was great. The class was great. I was looking forward to a 10 minute after class soak in the whirlpool but unfortunately the whirlpool was dirty and smelled like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while.

I like Esporta but most concerned with people putting their shoes blocking the stairs to the pool and whirlpool. It's so dangerous because anyone can trip and fall down the stairs especially if their balance is unstabled. Blind people come in and it's just a dangerous situation.

This Gym sucks so bad... where do I even start the pools and saunas are always closed, they always shut the lights off in the locker room when there peoples changing to hurry us up to leave,I wanna use the other side of the turf but for some reason its now closed for personal training even though theres nobody there and all the good equipment is there. Cicero and 87th st in Chicago, totally disappoint with the facility not being cleaned, staff giving you an attitude , liying when they tell you over the phone that the jacuzzi is open and it has been closed for almost more or less 8 months. My wish is to change everything from new Staff that has customer service experience, to have open the jacuzzi and. Cleaning crew. Think twice before coming . I will. Update my reviews once I see improvements here!!!!! Therefore I give it a - *.

Thoroughly disappointed in your so called Management team. Please school some of your employees on customer service, maintenance and attitudes especially when dealing with your VIP members. What disgusted me most is seeing how cloudy the pool is today. Please clean up your facilities. I can almost guarantee there is Ecoli bacteria in there. That needs a complete draining and decontamination especially since the water looks that dirty.

Think twice before coming to this gym. If you're not out the gym by 10:10 they will get your info and mark you down. The second time you're out after that time, they cancel your membership. They shut down the basketball courts 1 hr before closing. They shut the lights off 10mins before closing while there is still people changing in the locker room. Don't even think about leaving your belongings in a locker, it might not be there when you come back. Everyone complains about how unsanitary the gym is. Only paper towels you will find anywhere in the gym is in the locker room if you're lucky. It seems like corporate don't care about their members. Calling corporate to state your complaints will only result in them dismissing your complaints stating you are the only one with the issue.

I recently moved and this is the closest Esporta around me. Gym etiquette is poor. I’ve been coming here for a month and I have not seen all the weights properly put away. Good thing I don’t mind a scavenger hunt. The aerobics room does not have any yoga mats for members to use and they lock the dumbbells away for trainers use only. It’s an older gym.
I am considering signing up else where because this ain’t it unfortunately.

Do not use this gym! Haven't been there in months completely disgusting facility. Pool has extremely high chlorine levels Won't allow to cancel instead they rob my account every time I get alittle bit of money. Staff is okay but lazier than your teenager

I choose this one over 54th and kedzie. But, shutting off the lights when old folks are in the showers or finishing getting ready is down right wrong. Hopefully they change this before they get a lawsuit and shut down. There could be more staff cleaning and sanitizing. Some times is smells musty. Weights are never in the right place. Struggle to find crucial items means your workout takes longer, and you aren’t flowing like you should. Stair masters here are always occupied, there are only 4 and one is currently down. Based off of how much use stair masters get here, please consider getting 4 more. At busy times there are soiled napkins piled next to machines, there should be a staff member cleaning periodically. It’s unsanitary…

But the variety of machines is great. Sauna is great. Showers could use some maintenance and deep cleaning

There are 4 stair masters total. Two have been broken for months. MONTHS. There are people who hog them for an hour and just keep resetting the time and management doesn’t do anything. Also there are broken lat pull down machines for a long time now. Really bad management evidently.

First off it's dirty and unorganized. Lazy staff. Dumbbells are all over the place. They have equiptment that has been "out of service" for weeks. If you have to workout late the staff turns off the lights in the locker rooms before close. I left XSport to go to LA bc it was dirty but it's the same exact thing here. Overcrowded sauna always. Dirty locker room. Broken equipment. It's a joke

This gym is solid overall. They have decent hours, and pretty much any equipment you could possibly need for your fitness goals. The swimming pool and hot tubs are okay, and the staff is generally helpful and friendly. However, if you are going there to hoop, you will have an AWFUL time. Both of the rims are slightly crooked, but that isn't the gym's fault, that comes from members dunking recklessly. The real issue is the floor. You may as well be hooping at an ice rink. I don't know if it's because of a cleaning issue, members tracking up the floor with outdoor shoes, or if it's just an overall bad floor, but, regardless of the reason, it is TERRIBLE. Sometimes my feet begin to slide quite literally STANDING STILL in an athletic stance. It's ridiculous, and I've tried to be optimistic, but I am so irritated and dissatisfied because of this issue. PLEASE do something to improve the quality of the basketball court floor Esporta.

If you have the option, I would recommend not going here. While the price is tempting, there are many other gyms available with the same cost.
I had to go here because my gym of choice was closed for electrical issues.
The staff here is nice, and it has more room than my gym, which would be a benefit if this place was not totally trashed.
No weights are in the correct place, nothing is removed from equipment once completed, it’s just kind of run down and neglected. The entire place is obviously not taken care of.
You can come here and get a workout, but you will have to search for weights, use equipment that could stand some maintenance and care. This place could be soo much better but it’s obvious that they are following the template of least possible operating cost to maximize profit.

Upon exiting, we have 7 people at desks waiting to sign up new members, but not a single staff member around sanitizing/cleaning up/enforcing patrons to put weights back.
