On Monday (07.08.2024) I was followed out to my truck by the AGM Sal (ID# 16836) being accused of stealing a water bottle. I was about to get into my truck when he starts yelling very loudly " that water bottle isn't free " I was very confused as I didn't know what he was talking about. I have my truck door open, as he's approaching me and he tells me he saw me steal the water bottle then proceeded to look inside my truck sticking his head inside my truck almost getting inside. I told him to look at the camera, he said he did look at it and he saw me open the fridge and take the water bottle. After he realized he was wrong he started walking away without apologizing, it wasn't till after I asked him to apologize that he did. I felt threatened as he approached my truck and embarrassed as this happened in a full busy parking lot. I live in the area and know a lot of people that go to this establishment and to be treated the way I was treated is unacceptable and very embarrassing! Reached out to corporate and still have not heard back from them.

This gym is very chill and motivating. I actually met my girlfriend here, and I’ve been going here for 3 years now. I switched from lifetime and it was a great decision. The mornings get packed but everyone here is welcoming and is respectful of machine usage.

First off, let me start by saying that I love Xports, I prefer this gym over any other gym. I signed up for a membership in South Barrington because It was closer to home and work and the past couple weeks, I’ve been here there have been some issues. At first it was their sauna and massage chair, not working, which was whatever for me because I was there to work out, then, it was one or two of my favorite workout machines, being broken, then in the women’s room, there are only two showers, and only one of them gives out hot water While the other one is coming out cold water even turning it up all the way. That is now an issue for me to the point where I’m considering transferring to the Schaumburg location because I have been waiting for 2 HOURS for the same woman who has been in the shower to get out so I can shower and she was still currently in there. The fact that I have to sit in my sweat for almost 3 hours take a shower is a no-no for me. It’s a shame that I have to give this place 2 stars but y’all really need to do some improvement in that gym.

Avoid at all costs. They will rob you. Signed up for private sessions only to have no one show up or make the time to show up. When I tried to cancel because of this, the manager Dan tried to tell me I couldn’t cancel only for his manager Wes to tell me I can. Then they made me wait two weeks for a phone number they were supposed to get emailed. This phone number to get my refund led no where and there was no one answering. When I called the store back they had me on hold for 20 mins. And then they continued to hang up on me everytime I called and then just stopped answering me. Is this how you treat clients ? I have yet to receive my refund because of this merry go around.

If this gym wasn’t Soo close to home I would cancel this membership. Like clockwork, every Monday thru Friday @ 4:00 AM there is a Hispanic man that comes in with 3 females. They never scan in, they place their personal belongings ie preworkout, BCAAs, coffee, gym bags, and towels on multiple machines and act like they own the place. They will stand in front of you, sit on the machine you’re using when you step away for a second and if you take something they want to use be prepared for the dirtiest looks a person a receive. They also take pictures and film their workouts.
1. Every employee should be enforcing the rules we signed in our contract.
2. Last time I checked there is NO filming at the gym…period. I believe it’s for his IG to promote his personal training side hustle.
3. It is prohibited to train members if you are not a certified xsport personal trainer.
4. Not one xsport employee, manager, or GM( who likes to workout shirtless, film, and show half naked pictures of himself to members) has said a word to this particular group

This facility had signed me and my two friends for memberships without our consent. We went in talking solely about doing the 7 day, one dollar guest pass. Abigail agreed but actually signed us up for a membership. And then we were charged for the annual fee as well as a membership fee, after we called and got confirmation that it was canceled. Finally when i called again, they told me i had to call corporate to get my money back for the scam.

Summary:

Lifting 10/10 - Amazing assortment of weights, machines, and plenty of squat racks.

Cardio 8/10 - might be a lil hard to get a machine during peak hours, but once again, great assortment.

Cleanliness 9/10 - Never found there to be any issues besides some paper towels being unavailable at certain stations.

Staff 15/10: Everyone here is very friendly and they truly want you to have a great experience.

If you are in need of a personal trainer for lifting and strength training, I highly recommend Luke 😎

Highly disappointed at how bad it's gotten. It used to be clean and everyone respected each other enough to put equipment back its own place , but not anymore. The bathrooms are always dirty. There is no sanitizing spray on the stations. No paper towels either. The employees are not supervising the facility every one does what they want. Easily the worst maintained XSport in the Chicagoland area. Half of the treadmills work, lots of broken equipment, but the worst part is the daily maintenance and upkeep. Paper towels and cleaning solution near the machines haven’t been replaced all week. The staff is friendly and the gym is in a good location but I could not recommend this gym to friends and family.

Although I’m not a member of this gym, my 16 year old son and his friends are. They have thoroughly enjoyed the gym experience and have attended daily since school has let out. There seems to be a perfect balance of autonomy and hands-on assistance for the boys. They are left to their own devices unless they need advice/help. The membership price is extremely great, too!

I never make reviews but my experience at this gym was absolutely horrendous. I had the membership and the gym itself isn't bad. The issues began when I wanted to cancel. The gym makes it as hard as possible to cancel even after stating that you can cancel anytime within the first month. They require you to send a letter to their headquarters and "wait up to two weeks" for the letter to be processed. By the time they process the letter then it isn't the first month anymore and they keep their exorbitant deposit and first momth fee. I do not recommend this gym because of this dishonesty.

I’ve only been to two xsport locations and I have to say they typically have all the equipment I need. This particular location however is not kept up well at all. Half the treadmills don’t work, or at least can’t incline. Also their abductor and adductor machine has been out of service for 4+ months! I don’t like leaving poor reviews but they just don’t put in the effort to fix their equipment.

I do enjoy the atmosphere and the workers are nice, but fix your equipment please!

I’ve been going to xsport for the last couple years and felt like every other week I walked in they changed staff so much that I legit couldn’t keep up or get to know anyone’s name! I heard that it was a “business decision” and not due to attrition. Not sure who thought that was a good business decision to not let people get to know your staff and know people who legit cancelled due to the lack of human interaction or embodied people skills 101. However, I’ll say that I’ve seen the same people at least at the location I go to (South Barrington) I love the group there. Friendly, personable, ask how your day is, always see them talking to guests. So major improvement there. I’d just say try to get your equipment fixed in a timely matter when out of order, and for the love of god post some signs telling people to pick up their weights, it’s embarrassing.

Ive been coming to this location for more than 5 years. It has been an overall great gym location. Staff has always been very friendly & welcomes you. When I went in the AGM was chilling with other people in a room, not at the front desk when I needed help, and I only mention that because it looked very unprofessional. After my workout I went back to the front desk to cancel my membership and another crew member (not the AGM) told me he would have to give my cancellation form to the AGM WHO WAS CURRENTLY IN THE MASSAGE CHAIR (his word not mine)!!! Then the following month I noticed that my card was still being charged! I was livid. Not only had I already canceled my membership but they did not make sure to process my form. When I called back to ask if they had my form the AGM told me he could not find it. But that he would make sure to take care of because the people that night didn’t do a good job, which is ironic because he was the one present that night. The whole thing was so annoying. This location has come a long way. They have expanded 4 times and our now double the size since the first time I came to this location. This gym can get busy at times but depending on the time machines usually move quickly. One thing to look out for are the few gym goers who shame people for not cleaning up weight or cleaning an equipment. This a shared space but it is not cool to shame folks for not doing a good job!

Happened to be in the area so decided to go there for a workout, it was my first and last time at this location. Not going to that XSport again. Too many people without masks. We are in the middle of a pandemic and they weren’t even trying. Some people didn’t even have a mask with them. Posters and signs all over the place and no one cares. 2 biggest problems with this place are they only have 2 squat racks and 2 bench presses. Despite coming in on the middle of the day on Sundays, I've had to skip squatting multiple times since people that didn't need the squat rack were using them. There were a few staff members there with great vibes but I must admit there was staff members there that acknowledged me and were not that friendly. Which in all honesty I could care less only because I am more focused on the facility. But being greeted with great vibes is always great.
