I don't understand this gym. They charge about $90 a month but it isn't like their equipment is abundant or new. They don't have a ton of staff. They seemingly refuse to turn the AC on anywhere but the front desk, and their hours are infuriatingly limited.
I personally haven't gone to the group classes, so it may be most worth it if you do.
What I like about this gym and why I've gone the last few months is how close it is to where I live, but the high price with so many cons makes it a gym I'd not recommend

Do not join! This gym is completely oversubscribed and has sanintary issues. (Scroll through other reviews here to find a video of worms in the showers - no joke.)
From about 3pm until they close -- early, at 7-9pm -- there is a wait for most weight machines and benches. After 5pm, lines actually form some days.
They just don't have enough hours or equipment for the number of people they have signed up. Try doing leg day after 3pm. It's basically impossible or takes twice as long.
***If you take a tour, come around 5:30 or 6pm Monday through Thursday and ask specifically what steps they are taking to address overcrowding.***
FREE MANAGEMENT CONSULTING FOR LVAC: You can increase capacity in one of at least two ways: (1) make better use of existing equipment by spreading the crowds out over longer operating hours, or (2) adding more weights equipment to empty space on the 3rd floor -- and to the 4th floor, by swapping out underutilized cardio machines. There is never a wait for ellipticals because you don't need 35 of them and it's not 2003.
The gym is cheap in a number of other ways that become apparent after you join. Below is a list of longstanding/recurring sanitary, maintenance, and customer service problems.
Basically after Covid they decided to try to cut every corner they could think of -- and still charge $100/month! The minute a higher-end gym with better hours opens in this neighborhood there is going to be an exodus.
List of longstanding/recurring problems:
1. Not cleaned well. Locker rooms never cleaned during the day, as far as I can tell; so they are gross by nighttime. Worms (actually larvae of drain gnats) are often present in the showers.
2. Dishonesty. There's all these references to a rock climbing wall, but it's been closed for many years and the staff will tell you it is not reopening. They are too cheap to pay for the needed insurance.
3. A/C problems. Every summer. All summer.
4. Lots of nickel-and-dime deferred maintenance: Shower heads have been in need of replacement for years and often leak, wasting water. Water fountain's filter status has been broken for years. Flaps of rubber coating literally peeling off the dumbells in the 2nd floor studio.
5. Zero communication. They have an app and our contact info. In the past they would email if, say, the pool was closed one day. But in recent years they can't be bothered. The locker room was randomly closed for two days a little while back, but rather than letting people know that, you had to physically arrive at the gym and the see a sign saying that it was closed. How hard is it to write an email?
6. Nonresponsive management. Use their contact form, check the box asking for a response, and they will ignore you. 100% of the time.
7. Weird music. Not sure who in this Boystown gym they think wants to listen to sexist rap music. Read the room, LVAC. (Notably, their other locations don't play music like that. Some kind of stereotype about Boystown seems to be involved at LVAC.)
Lakeview urgently needs a TMPL or a VIDA or some comparable higher-end gym. There are at least two vacant gym locations nearby so hopefully someone will see the busines opportunity to have a higher-end gym in this neighborhood again.
LVAC could be a good gym again if they got better management, took care of the facility better, and expanded the hours. But they seem to have settled on a business model of being more of a budget gym. It's a shame.

They will charge you a 1 month fine to cancel even if you are on a monthly plan. In addition, if you cancel through the app or website, they will put your cancellation as pending without mentioning what it means and you will continue to get charged for the gym. Eventually you will realize that you are still being charged and then when you complain they will ask for a written notice of cancellation. Finally, the gym is always packed and you always have to wait to use equipments. They only care about your money and not of your as a customer.

Used to go to LSAC but moved, so now I am going to this location. LSAC was pretty mediocre, and I came here expecting the same bare minimum experience. Somehow, this location undelivered my low expectations.
It has so much potential: Rock wall, outdoor pool, cool building great layout. LVAC really just finds a way to grossly disappoint. First off, fix the air conditioning. It’s unbelievable that you have a gym where this doesn’t work. Second off, it’s ridiculously crowded unless you go in the middle of the day. I’ve started coming early in the morning because it feels impossible to get a good workout in after the workday. Third, the place needs to be maintained better. Cracked pads, lack of weights for benches/lower body machines, and the locker room facilities in overall disrepair. This is excluding their shady membership practices, which I haven’t had to experience yet. Read other reviews for info on that.
There is one upside about this place though. They have a hack squat machine, love that thing.
When my membership ends, I’m going to be joining a different gym.

Money hungry gym that makes it impossible to cancel your membership without paying for an additional month. Not worth the price for having to wait to use machines and it closes so early. The only good thing about this place is the Monday night yoga class.

I was a happy member of LVAC for 7 years and loved the staff, instructors, and classes. 4-5 days per week I'd be taking BodyPump and/or at the awesome rooftop pool. Things got worse when Xsport closed, but the reason I'm leaving 1 star is due to management and finance department.
Last year I had to put my membership on pause. I was told multiple times by front desk staff I can pause it for 3 months for $15 total. When I saw they continued to charge my card, I filed a claim with my card company. Soon after I was harassed by management saying it was $15 per month. After much back-and-forth, they did not own up to their mistake in poorly training staff who actually interact with members, and I canceled my membership. It's been one year and they sent me to multiple collections agencies who say I own $123, not $45. Without evidence, they are saying I did not cancel my membership (I have emails to support my claim) and are threatening to add to my credit reports. It's $30! What is wrong with these people?

— Avoid at all cost —
Canceled my membership over a month ago and they keep charging me but I no longer get access to the gym.
Other issues:
-dirty water filters/fountains
-crusty and stained towels 24/7
-smelliest bathrooms this side of the Mississippi
-over crowded
-awful hours
-false advertising as far as the eye can see
- “no cancelation fee” just pay double when you want to leave!

This gym has a lot going for it, it's clean, staff is friendly, and generally good equipment. However that is all overshadowed by a basic unwillingness to address longstanding major issues. Today the temperature in the weight room as reported by their own thermostat is 83.9. This is after years of reviews mentioning the air conditioning issues.
The gym is still on COVID hours, despite crowding being higher than ever.
There's been no word on the climbing wall ever reopening.

Air Conditioning Never Works – Years of the Same Excuses
I’ve been a member of this gym for several years, and the only reason I’ve stayed is because it’s close to home. Unfortunately, that’s about the only thing it has going for it.
Every summer without fail, the air conditioning breaks down—and not just for a day or two. The outages often last for weeks. Last year, the AC was out for over a month, and this year is shaping up to be just as bad. Complaints to the front desk go nowhere; they either pretend to write it down or deny there’s an issue at all.
The facility is poorly maintained across the board. Weights are left scattered, towels are abandoned in the locker rooms, and basic cleaning is almost non-existent. I’ve seen the same pieces of trash on the floor for days at a time. There are spills in the carpeted locker room that are never addressed.
Equipment is rarely updated, and the large space the gym has is not used effectively. The rock wall has been closed for over three years—I've never seen anyone using it in the eight years I’ve lived here. Despite all of these issues, the gym has never once asked members for feedback or conducted a survey. Every other gym I’ve belonged to did this at least annually.
Lastly, the hours are frustratingly limited. There’s clearly a demand for later weekday hours (open until 10 p.m.), and weekend hours are still stuck in the reduced, post-COVID schedule. Members have asked for changes, but there’s no sign they’re being heard.
If you’re considering joining, I strongly recommend asking about the AC and maintenance issues first. A gym should be a place where you want to spend time—not one you endure because of convenience.

It is quite frustrating that they lack the ability to send out general announcements or post about holiday hours on a regular basis. There were a group of folks who showed up on Easter Sunday at 7am waiting to be let into the gym only to find the holiday hours buried on their website. No email was sent out. No alerts added on their app. No printed signage was posted or on display over the last few days or this morning.
As they also lack any way to reach out to management, it's even more frustrating that Google reviews is the only way to try to reach them.
Original post below
I will have a lot of the same things as other people.
1. Shower heads for over half the showers either didn't shut off or have enough pressure to do anything for about 5 months.
2. Men's locker room smells like mold.
3. When the AC goes out in the weight room, no one cares even if the temperature hits 80 and can take a week to do anything.
4. Cable machines need general maintenance, even just a little bit of grease, oil or something but many of the weights don't slide up and down glides easily.
5. You'll never find a staff member picking up anything. Garbage and weights can be left untouched for days.
6. There is no way to contact management. No business cards or contact info on websites
7. Steam and dry sauna doors are disgusting and haven't been cleaned in 8 months now. I wiped the dry sauna door once as it got so bad and I can tell they still haven't cleaned it.

The gym's equipment was outdated, and many machines were out of order, making it difficult to complete a full workout. The locker rooms were unclean, with towels scattered on the floor and a persistent unpleasant odor. I also noticed that the steam room and sauna were poorly maintained, which was a letdown. The limited operating hours, closing at 9 PM on weekdays, made it challenging to fit workouts into my schedule. Overall, the experience didn't match the cost, and I won't be returning.

The staff here is nice but it is so poorly managed. They have extremely limited hours. The climbing gym and other perks like family swim times went away during COVID and they've never brought anything back. It's way too busy during peak times because of the abbreviated hours and when things break here, they patch them together instead of doing it the right way. The men's lockers are constantly locking people out but they pretend like they're not broken.

I've been a member for a few weeks and here is an honest review of the gym. First of all, everybody, from the person who sold me my membership to the front desk staff to the maintenance staff have been super friendly. The gym is clean, well maintained, and I rarely have seen equipment that is offline for maintenance. The gym spans four levels which include a basement pool, rooftop pool (closed until May), cardio areas, group class room, a free weight room, and a weight machine room.
The free weight area is excellent with dumbbells going up to 125 lbs. and plenty of bars and Smith Kline machines. The weight machines are a little bit inadequate; they could benefit by adding more machines as they really only have one for each body part. Between the free weights and machines, there is more than enough there to get a great workout.
I usually go in the late mornings and the gym is pretty busy with a little "lull" starting around 10:30. Even when it's busy, I've never had to wait long for a weight bench or piece of equipment. There are plenty of trainers working with clients and they are friendly and respectful to other gym patrons. Gym members are friendly and practice good gym etiquette.
I only use the locker room to store my coat during workouts but love the free workout towels (and bath towels if you choose to shower there) and find the locker room to be pretty clean at all times. The lockers have built-in combinations so you don't have to bring your own lock. Unlike a lot of other gyms, the lockers actually work and don't feature half of them saying "out of service."
I know there are some negative reviews but after a few weeks I'm really happy with the gym and with the value I receive. The monthly price isn't as cheap as Planet (nothing is) but it is far lower than what you would pay at a Lifetime or Equinox. Overall super happy with becoming a member at Lakeview Athletic Club.

Female front desk staff rude and condescending. Especially one in particular on Sundays. Which is unacceptable in customer service. Majority of membership staff are also weird/rude. Need major training. One nice guy at the front desk, always there on Saturdays. Nice, good looking, respectful and seems to understand confidence and customer service. Advice to the rude condensding female at the front desk. Get an additude adjustment, some training, and some confidence. This behavior is NOT ok. Especially condescending. Costs a premium and the general staff are nice but management seems to be a mess. Endless lies about a rock climbing wall that hasn’t been open since Covid (in addition to sticking to shortened hours). Days with no towels (such as today!) with no notice, so equipment is gross and uncleaned. Closed steam room for weeks. Now the hot tub too. A total shame.
Edit: oh and the hvac seems broken again today. It stinks and is humid as hell. Not even summer yet, buckle up with the new crowd from xsport closing.

They rely on being the only ‘decent’ gym option in the close area. Towels are always stained. Equipment is in need of repair (pulley off the wheels, rust, etc. or replacement. Desperately need more equipment. Layout is not optimized. They could do a lot more with the space, especially if they get rid of the lounge(?) areas and wide open ‘boot camp’ area that people just drag over benches and free weights to use in that space anyway.

I tried this gym after XSport closed in the area, mainly for its location. Given that it costs nearly three times more, I expected a premium experience. Instead, after four months, I’m canceling my membership.
The staff is consistently unfriendly, treating members like an inconvenience rather than valued customers. The business hours are also ridiculous—staff starts pushing people out 15 minutes before closing, as if we can’t tell time, making it clear they want you gone the second the clock strikes closing. For the price, you’d expect more accommodating hours, yet they seem to close early so the janitorial staff can wash towels all night.
Aside from towel service, there’s no real value to justify the inflated cost. The locker rooms aren’t any cleaner than lower-cost gyms, and the overall atmosphere is unwelcoming.
For the price, I expected top-tier service and better more consistent hours. Instead, it’s overpriced, poorly managed, and simply not worth it. Save your money.

I’ve been a member at this club for years. Recently they have assumed most of the members from the gym next door that closed. This has left members with no available machines. You can’t get a decent workout in anymore due to volume. They let corporate greed get in the way of providing quality service to their members.
I have also heard an uptick of politics from some of the trainers there that leave make working out near them uncomfortable. Keep your opinions to yourself a gym should be a safe space for everyone. As an employee you should represent the company and not yourself.

Charged me for 3 months at once. I paid for years then updated my credit card info on their app and it didnt go through so I got hit with a $25 late fee, so I paid at the desk as soon as they told me but he charged me 3 months at once and refused to fix it. Was a bit snarky and sounded like he didnt believe me but I saw it on my banking app. I called the billing dept. and they won’t do anything about it except credit me for the next 2 months. That is OK because I am not broke but I find it ironic that you charge loyal clients a fee for a glitch in the system but then overcharge them 3 months and do not care. Some people don’t plan on paying for 3 months at once. Also I can’t use the indoor pool anymore because I am personally grossed out by the mold on the lane lines and walls.

K...let's start at 5 stars, 'cause who doesn't wanna be a 5 on a 5 star scale? 🥰 I'll justify this b/c it's a gym, it's in my neighborhood, and it's close by.
Now, because it's THIS gym, let's move down the scale.
For starters, this gym is pretty dirty. The cleaning staff does a mediocre job at best and, if you're really paying attention? You'll notice that the same towels we're provided with to wipe sweat from ourselves are the same towels they use to clean. Literally. Those skunked up stained towels that are in the mix with the rest of the dingy piles? Yeah, those probably (somewhat poorly) cleaned a machine or something similar, then got laundered with the rest of the towels and now you're wiping your face with them. Enjoy!
Further, there's dust and grime everywhere (yet they still asphyxiate me by casually swiping around cleaning chemicals while I'm doing cardio). Heck, they won't even clean the front doors to remove what looks like throwup on the outward facing handles inside the glass. And you KNOW that staff and management can clearly see both. Check out that pile of dust that's collected under every machine. Or in the corners of the windowsills (not to mention that they NEVER clean the exterior of the windows and those f'in cobwebs have been there for years). You can also be sure that the green lawn floor covering on the 3rd floor has never been deep cleaned. I could go on and on, but just take a closer look pretty much anywhere and you'll see this and MUCH more.
Now let's mention the men's locker room sinks that don't provide hot water. Or the handles that you lift to turn the water on that fall on their own. Or the constantly broken soap dispensers. Or the mold on the inside edges of the mirrors. Or the wet areas that I won't even get near b/c they are frighteningly unclean and unsanitized. Again, I could go on and on.
Now on to the relatively poor equipment upkeep. Most of the cable and other machines need lubrication b/c they don't operate smoothly. Many of the machine pads need replacing and the machines themselves need deep cleaning. The mats SUCK and are generally dirty. It's obvious that no one on staff does regular checks on the machines to ensure functioning, cleanliness, or timely and often much-needed repairs. Seemingly, we're supposed to overlook all of this because we're provided mostly broken spray bottles--yes, you too are the cleaning staff--to spritz and wipe this, that, and the other with. The dirty cleaning supply buckets and lids that are used for these bottles and to collect dirty towels and washcloth cleaning rags just add to the charm of it all.
A few of these things would be bearable if I felt that staff was actually attending to them, but no. I've brought these things up many times over the YEARS and pretty much nothing gets addressed--thus the above-mentioned.
I'm surely missing many things, like the mostly staring at the phone, utterly monotone greetings you often get entering and exiting (with one notable and pleasant exception), but this post sums up a good bit. I'm also likely skunking this 2-star gym by giving 1-star, but after writing this post I'm feeling the latter.
So...back to me wishing that some other, clean and delightful gym drops itself into the neighborhood so I can literally drop this place like a rock and head elsewhere. 😋

Its a pretty good gym with decent facilities and a variety of spaces to workout. My biggest problem with this gym is that in the year I've been going to it, they never allowed access to the giant climbing wall they have. This place is becoming impossible. Way too many members competing for limited equipment squeezing into every available corner to try to get some space. There are two root problems: 1) Poor floor plan leading to redundancy of underutilized equipment and cramping of popular equipment, 2) Wasted space of multiple rooms which typically sit idle. It is time for some new thinking and a radical transformation to maximize and reverse the rapidly deteriorating conditions.

I’ve been coming here for about 5 years. Honestly, half the people at the front desk seem like zombies or mean mug you, especially in the morning. The afternoon crew seem much more pleasant. The manager seems pleasant as well when I’ve had direct interactions, but maybe he has some RBF going on. This morning was sort of the last straw for me. When entering this morning around 7am (August 10 2023), the young blonde pony-tailed woman at the front desk didn’t even look up from her phone and she had AirPods in. I know it’s early, but it’s a pretty icky feeling when I nod or smile when checking in and I get a blank stare back or completely ignored. Sorry you’re so busy texting and listening to a podcast at work to make some eye contact lol.

I’ve had a great time at this gym so far. Love having access to an outdoor pool. The classes have been great. I have a weird schedule so they don’t always align. Again I go at weird times so it’s never super busy. For the price, it’s definitely worth it. Feels sooooooo much nicer than the LA Fitness I used to go to. Very clean and I’ve never had any sort of issues.

It's a shame because this gym has the potential to be great but it falls far short.
Problem one is the staff. They are quite frankly standoffish at best and surly as worst. I recently had one staff member chase me around the shower and peer into my shower stall with me naked (yes really) because it was close to closing time and he apparently really wanted to go home.
The second issue is hours. The gym closes at 9pm on weekdays which is not standard practice for a big city gym. Every other gym in Lakeview pretty much is 24 hours or open until at least 10pm on weekdays. This gym shortened its hours during Covid and never went back to reasonable hours.
The facilities could truly be great with the two pools, etc., but unfortunately the short hours and frequently unpleasant staff make this gym subpar.

As someone who has been a member since 2017, I have mixed feelings about this gym now in 2023 knowing what it used to be. Pre-COVID, this gym was top notch but it never quite bounced back. The gym itself is pretty decent. Overall, there are five floors and a rooftop pool:
Floor 1/Basement: Men’s locker room and pool/hot-tub (20 yds and three lanes)
Floor 2/Main Floor: Entrance, cycle studio, women’s locker room, and a rock climbing wall (which has been closed since 2020)
Floor 3: Dance studio for various classes
Floor 4: Weight room on turf w/ four squat racks, a smith machine, a couple of benches, a bunch of dumbbells, barbells, cables, machines, etc.
Floor 5: Dance studio for yoga classes and a large cardio area w/ treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, erg machines, etc.
Roof: Pool that is open during the summer (people mostly just lounge here)
The main complaint I have with this gym is the hours. The gym has never returned to pre-COVID hours and currently closes at 9pm on Mon-Thurs, 8pm on Fri, and 7pm on the weekend. This is pretty embarrassing. The result is a gym that has the same foot traffic as pre-COVID but fewer hours. X-Sport (3 blocks south) and Planet Fitness (several blocks north) are both 24 hrs. FFC East Lakeview and Quads Gym both close at 10pm during the week.
This gym tries to distinguish itself for its classes but my perception is that programing seems to have been decreased post-COVID as well (at least the spin and free-climb classes). The rock-climbing wall has never re-opened to my knowledge and there has not been any indication that it ever will. As some of the other reviewers have mentioned, last summer there were AC/HVAC issues that made working out feel like you were in a sauna.
The locker rooms have showers, the lockers have key code locks attached, and there are towels available for you to use. The pools both seem small but if you really wanted to you could go to the West Loop location which has a 25m pool. You can purchase personal training if you want and it seems that the trainers are pretty professional. You also used to be able to purchase sports massages here but that is no longer a thing after 2020. The employees working here are really nice although reading other reviews it seems cancellations are difficult (you must give 30 days written notice). I believe guest passes are $25.
At the end of the day, it's an okay gym. I just have a hard time knowing how much better it used to be. All I really want is for all CAC locations to return to their old hours of operation and I would be fine with the other post-COVID nuances (barring another HVAC failure).

An ok gym, small weight room, not a lot of selections.
The main complaint is the hours. Why are we closing at 9pm? There's absolutely no good explanation for this. When I signed up it was until 9:30. Those of us who workout in the evening have a small window of time after getting off work to get in. You need to extend your hours to at least 10pm.

This Gym has declined so much - It is shocking
- Womens locker room has mold everywhere - The showers are rarely cleaned and disinfected
- The towels are old and shredded
- Steam room has no health department schedule as in most properly managed gyms - Members go into steam & sauna fully dressed - with shoes - talking on their cell phones with shoes on the wall
- If you leave weights out will find them in the exact location days later
---The decline in maintenance and care is palpable-

LVAC but the HVAC prob won’t work as it was down most of the summer 2022. Guesting policy is abysmal even after HVACageddon. The front desk is friendly and greet-able 10% of the time (if they even notice you, though the morning crew gets positive props). The machine servicing is way delayed. That’s about it.
Oh wait, there is a pool though. 👍

I have been a member of LVAC for over a year. The club is very clean and the equipment is good. My biggest complaint is that their check in experience is terrible. They typically have 2 to 3 people at the front desk who I assume are being paid to check in customers. Half the time they don't even look up from their phones or screens to acknowledge or greet people. The last two mornings there were at least three people at the front desk and not one of them even acknowledged me presence when I checked in (one was the manager)!!! The manager of the club has never said hi to me or even looked at me the many times I have seen him, so this sort of explains why the bad customer service trickles down. I go to the club every morning seven days a week. At my last club (FFC boystown) the check in experience was wonderful and I was almost alway welcomed each morning by name and with a geniuine smile. FFC obviously has some great customer service training for the people checking people in and LVAC should greatly enhance their customer service training (if it even exists). Why pay at least 2 people to be at the front desk to check people in, when these people barely acknowledge or greet people? The appear to be bored, kind of miserable and disconnected with their members. The club manager at FFC was also wonderful at greeting people and smiling at them when he saw his members using his gym.

Gym was ok - horrible policy for membership. Signed paperwork three years ago & they continuously renewed, no one ever reached out to check to see if I wanted to continue. When I tried to cancel my membership I was asked “why” & if I wanted to move home gym locations. I was then charged a fee for the notice time plus an additional month. Make sure you know what you’re getting into before you sign up for this gym.

I’ve been a member for one month now and I really love the ballet burn and yoga classes there. I agree with the other reviewers that the AC is a huge problem in this location because in 80-90 degrees outside the AC practically barely works so my workouts have been miserable from this point of view but other than that great atmosphere and instructors. Very nice workout studios with gorgeous views.
P.S. Please, add more aquatics to the schedule… specifically Aqua TBT in late afternoons or evenings few times a week or weekends will be very appreciated.

I wouldn’t recommend this poorly maintained facility to my worst enemy. You truly do get what you pay for at $89 per month. I’d rather pay more to a facility that has a working HVAC system and values their members. It takes every ounce of energy for the front desk staff to greet members. Inquired about swim lessons via email and the so called “Aquatics Director” was just as rude as the front desk staff. I suppose I shouldn’t have expected anything more. I have immediately canceled my membership and unfortunately will need to remain a member until August 17. I cannot wait to be a valued member at F45 Training.

I’ve been a member off and on for years. Tried to go to a spin class today and have to say, I’m MAJORLY disappointed to see they have electronic signups 24 hours in advance…but that’s not the worst part. If you can’t attend they charge $10. This isn’t a studio, we don’t pay per class - you shouldn’t charge a penalty. Or better yet, the way you had it before was better…I show up at the gym, I sign up. First come first serve. The electronic sign up makes classes fill up too fast, and makes it competitive - and I just want to go to a spin class without risk of incurring a fee. Just another example of big business trying to nickel and dime consumers that have been loyal for years! Not impressed!!

The quality of LVAC has fallen a long way. The hours are much shorter now - up to two hours of less open time per day. It’s unclear if the air conditioning has been turned on for the summer - if it’s on you certainly can’t tell. Even on the cooler days it’s much, much warmer inside. Machines have cobwebs, if that’s any sign of the cleaning regimen.

This is a fine gym for the money. It is generally clean, not usually too crowded and the equipment is in decent condition. The reason for giving two stars is for lack of transparency on how cancellation works for membership. PLEASE READ: You are required to give a 30 day written notice of your cancellation and you will be responsible for any payments that fall within that 30 day window, even if you are no longer able to use the club. I accept some responsibility for not closely reading the fine print, but it still feels a little deceitful.

This gym just did not seem to me to be worth the price tag. Other gyms that cost half the price seem to be just as good, if not better. It has a rock climbing wall, and towel service, but other than that it does not have anything else that I would say it does better or has, that other gyms don't.
I was considering cancelling the membership for those reasons for quite some time, but what sealed the deal for me was when I showed up one evening and they had a sign on the door that there was a private event, and that the gym was otherwise closed. When I went inside to ask about what was going on, and how I could have known prior instead of making the trip to get there, I felt like I was treated poorly. One gentleman started yelling at me that I couldn't go in, and a lady stopped me in the doorway as if I was a criminal or something. I suppose that they can do whatever they want with their business, at the end of the day, and I can choose to be a member or not. However, to me it was odd to think that a membership establishment would choose to close to its members but stay open for other reasons. I'm sure they signed up a bunch of new members at the event though, so win for them!

Not sure why it took me this long to considering cancelling my membership. This gym provides less amenities and costs 2x as much as a gym 2 blocks away. I enjoyed this gym, it’s well appointed. But I wish leaving was just as pleasant. Offered a new job out of town and required to move within 2 weeks. Gym won’t let me cancel until October (it’s August) thus requiring me to pay additional months. They also pick and choose what parts of your contract are valid after 12 months and which are not. Corrupt business plan. This is an exact excerpt from Hallie, oneof their managers stating the terms and conditions on my contract are no longer valid,
“Thank you for your email. Your membership is no longer in a contract period as of September of 2017. Section #18 is applicable if you are within a commitment period. You have the ability to cancel at any time with the 30-day written notice by either sending in a cancel email, or in club with an advisor. There is no need to provide the proof of relocation and pay the cancellation fees since your membership has renewed over to a monthly membership.”
What a load of idiocracy. I wouldn’t recommend joining unless you can definitively plan when you are leaving.

FRONT DESK NEEDS TO BE TRAINED ON BEING POLITE AND RESPECTFUL!!!!
After my workout in the evening, I did not look at my phone in the shower, and wasn’t aware of how long I had spent. After someone yelled inside, to tell me they had closed, I apologized, promptly got out and began to change quickly to leave. Then a man who had the WORST attitude, came in to do a last check and told me to hurry up?! AS IF I WASN’T ALREADY DOING THAT! Before I got to the front desk, I looked at the clock and saw that I was 10 minutes past close!! When I got to the front desk, he basically tried to lecture me on my way out of the door. Claiming that I had been told to they closed 3 times, which I certainly did not hear, and then he attempted to scold me?? And I apologized AGAIN, trying to tell him I hadn’t checked my my phone during my shower, he very RUDELY cut me off and continued to lecture! I was five seconds from going off, but decided to shut him up and told him it wouldn’t happen again and swiftly left.
I understand him wanting to leave, but how hard would it have been to say something as simple as “just a reminder for the future, we hard close at____ time”?! Such a simple and NICE way to get a point across. It was extremely aggravating, because now I don’t even want to go back to that location. That guy needs MANNERS.

This gym was well renovated. It's so clean and new- not what you'd expect from a
Gym. They have a ton of equipment and machines and even a number of ones that I've never seen before elsewhere.

The club is beautiful and spacious, and there are tons of classes! I wish more was going on in non-work-hours, but... I've been to several of the CAC locations and LVAC is definitely the nicest I've seen.

Clean, spacious, and affordable gym. Crowded during prime time, so get there early or late.

Great addition to the Lakeview neighborhood. Gym facilities are in great condition, and include an indoor climbing wall, small rooftop pool, plus 4 levels of fitness facilities. Even in the posy holiday season, you can typically find equipment of your choice. Only negative for me, is this CAC location closed their "kids club" so I find myself visiting LPAC location more often.
