Matt and his team at LEAP are the perfect option if you're looking for a gym with a more personalized touch. They've got an extensive list of class options and times that work with my busy schedule and the gym itself is awesome. It's got a distinct vibe compared to any other gym I've been to before and they do a great job of making you feel welcome every time you step in the door. Highly recommend if you're looking for more than a standard gym membership at some bigger chain.

I have been a member of LEAP for nearly 3 years, and have been a fitness enthusiast for decades. Over the last 10 years I have delved further into strength training in addition to running, HIIT, and other cardiovascular training. So, while being fit isn't new to me, I can confidently say that I have put on more muscle (according to a body scan) over the last 3 years at LEAP than at any other point in my training, which is awesome because my goal was to get strong! I have to give credit to Matt, the owner and for 2 of the 3 years, my personal trainer, for knowing how to push me to my limits to help sculpt my muscles. In addition, the trainers that he hires are knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and fun! At this point in my tenure at LEAP, I solely take the small group classes, which are fun, creative, and effective. Despite all of these praises, my favorite part about LEAP is actually the community of people that work out here. There are no egos, and everyone builds each other up. It's a great vibe! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

From the moment you walk in, you are greeted with warm smiles and a friendly atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The owner and instructors have done an amazing job creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone feels like part of a close-knit community.
The gym itself is clean, well-maintained, and equipped with everything you need for a great workout. But what really sets this place apart is the people. The owner chatting with members, offering encouragement, and ensuring everyone is having a great time. The instructors are not only knowledgeable and professional but also genuinely care about your progress and well-being.
If you're looking for a gym that goes beyond just being a place to work out, this is it. Here, you become part of a community that supports and uplifts each other, making fitness a truly enjoyable and rewarding experience. Highly recommend!

I attended Cardio Dance with Cristina, who was excited to teach and encouraging. I had a lot of fun learning some new dance moves along with getting my heart rate up! I was also impressed by the space and equipment they have. As someone who does Muay Thai I was impressed to see boxing/fighting classes and equipment. Also clean, which for me is a sign of a good gym. They have a whole other second floor below what you see in the window. They also offer a wide variety of classes as well! Something for everyone!

Let me preface by saying that I haven't been to this gym, I just purchased their membership online. I purchased their membership because I thought it was a 21 class pass (as in, you can attend 21 classes total) and only when the owner emailed me did I realize it was actually a 21-day pass (so you could attend as many classes as you want but only for 21 days). I responded to the owner and let him know that I'd misunderstood the purpose of this pass and that a 21-day pass would not work for my schedule, as I would only be able to attend one class a week. I asked if I could get a refund as I had mistakenly bought it and this would not work for my schedule, and I not yet attended any classes, but the owner refused. I understand that it was my mistake but $75 is a lot of money to lose, especially when I've been saving up to find a gym/membership that would work for me. It left me with a bad impression of the owner, and did not make me want to attend any classes there.

I started at Leap about a year ago, when I moved into Chicago for the first time. I was immediately impressed by the team's professionalism and holistic approach to improving your health. Matt (the owner) did an in-depth analysis of my lifestyle, goals, and eating habits before customizing a unique training plan well suited for me.
I have not regretted joining once! I am continuously challenged with new workouts that help me feel athletic and confident. I highly recommend this to anyone who is hoping to up their game.

I have been training at LEAP for more than seven years now and it has been a great experience. I've worked with Matt and a number of his trainers and they are all top-notch. Whether it's personal training or a small-group class, you will get a great workout.
Matt tailors personal training sessions to each individual client, designed to achieve specific goals -- whether it's improved strength or better mobility or weight loss or even minor injury rehab.
The equipment at the gym is excellent and the resistance training encompasses a variety of approaches, from free weights to machines to resistance bands. There is also a studio for classes in addition to the main gym.
Highly recommended.

I love it here. Great space, even better coaches. The first visit they ask you about your goals, which every place does, but the difference is that they actually help you get there. I’ve had some of the best metcon workouts of my life in the lower studio, and hardcore strength sessions upstairs. I couldn’t recommend this place more. Join the best!

I joined LEAP about 3 years ago. After the pandemic, I didn’t want to go back to a large gym with lots of people on the weight floor and classes that are huge. I do personal training a few times a week and also take a few classes as well- primarily Metcon and HIIT or a Boxing class. They also have strength training classes and in 3 days you work your entire body. Matt, the owner, and his staff are very knowledgeable and create great programs for personal training and the classes.
Class sizes remain small (no more than 10 or 12 people) and the place is always tidy and neat. Oh and just because it’s small doesn’t mean they don't have great equipment. They do! From dumbbells, benches, squat racks , flywheel, sleds and big tires and more, they got it. This keeps the programs varied, fun, and results showing !!
Finally and probably must important are the great clients you get to work out with. They call it the LEAP family and it is! You get to know them. This makes for a very fun environment especially on those days you don’t want to go!!! You can’t let your friend down!!
So if you are looking for a place to train or take classes this is the right place!

The LEAP experience is second to none. The facility is top notch with the latest equipment and is always freshly clean. The staff is extremely kind, knowledgable, and energetic throughout the workouts. Even if you’re doing a class, every workout feels like a personal training session because the team is dedicated to tailoring the experience to your needs. Matt (the owner) is constantly present in the gym. He’ll be sure to greet you by name as soon as you walk in the door and is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to fitness. It’s clear that he loves what he does and his passion for fitness is infectious on anyone who’s lucky enough to work with him.

I started going to LEAP in September of 2021 after not working out since pre covid. I immediately felt welcomed and comfortable by all the trainers there. I had originally planned on three months but loved it enough to commit to a year membership. During the year training there, I’ve never felt stronger or in better shape. The community created by the trainers with all the members is great and I’d still be there if I hadn’t moved to a Colorado!

LEAP has completely changed the way I view exercise and training. As a person who has led a fairly sedentary lifestyle, circuit-style gyms have always intimidated me—until I tried LEAP on a family and friends day.
The classes are small in size. The trainers are incredibly friendly and encouraging. They focus on their “athletes” and provide personalized attention and instruction, even in group classes. They help me maintain accountability, and have increased my confidence to challenge myself in safe ways. I feel myself getting stronger and actually enjoying exercise!
The facilities are immaculate. We all clean equipment as we workout and after class. Masks are worn by all throughout.
It definitely feels like a family at LEAP. You aren’t just a number. Thanks team LEAP!

I joined LEAP a little over a year ago, five months after giving birth to my first child. I am now in the best shape of my adult life.
As someone who has always worked out consistently but casually, LEAP has pushed me to the next level. I'm going to the gym the same amount of times a week but I'm getting a lot more out of it because I use that time more effectively. Small class sizes encourage you to push for heavier weight because you have a coach right there to help. The camaraderie and community keep you coming consistently.
It costs more than my old CAC membership, but I am getting so much more out of it. I highly encourage anyone who is looking to get into better shape to try it out.

I came to my first class today and enjoyed my experience. I had Madeline as my trainer and she was awesome. She was hands on and pushed me. I liked how they also write down your weights and keep track of it so you can monitor your progress as you go. As someone who came from orange theory, i appreciated the size of the class. I joined LEAP 6 months ago and could not be happier with my decision. Ever since I moved back to Chicago a few years ago, I had been looking for a facility with exactly what I would ultimately discover that LEAP offers. Yet at the time, I found myself settling for gyms (well, “chains” to be more precise) that left me frustrated and not getting results.
At the most basic level, my requirements were a variety of small group training classes as well as the option for personal training—LEAP checked those boxes, which was huge. But I wanted more than that. I needed a gym where ownership and staff would be invested in my success, and an environment that feels like a community. This is indeed what makes LEAP special and unique.
My 1:1 personal training has been primarily with Matt (owner), but I have had a chance to work out with all the trainers and have been thoroughly impressed. Matt and his team are highly knowledgeable, dedicated and motivating. Nothing ever feels rushed, and there is a lot of emphasis on proper form. Additionally, if I’m struggling with a particular movement, Matt will offer an alternative or pause to identify the root cause. Moreover, the facility itself is impressive with state-of-the art equipment and very, very clean. On a personal note, it’s been a pleasure to get to know Matt through the personal training and see how committed he is to all the members at LEAP.
At the end of the day, there is no substitute for the hard work that we have to put in to get results. But, having the right people to coach and encourage you, and the place to do that work, matters. A lot. I’m just at the beginning of my fitness journey but looking forward to what is ahead. Strongly recommend!

LEAP is a great community for working out. The trainers here are knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. The classes are small so you never feel invisible. They have every piece of equipment you need to have a great workout for any level you are at. This has become a home away from home and a family I can count on to push me to be my best! Could not recommend more which is why I chose to come here and leave a review.

I was a collegiate swimmer who always had a workout planned for me, and I never had to think about what I was going to do. After I graduated, I did many different things to stay in shape, and it worked for a while, then I would plateau.
When I found Leap, I finally found something that kept working. I love the programming and I love the people there. I always look forward to going, even if I am dead tired or having an off day. I have found great friends there and also a new appreciation for fitness. Cannot recommend enough.
I also want to note that LEAP was great as it's former name Unrivaled. Most of us went to both. It was great then, it is great now. A lot of us took classes with the instructors and owners then and the current owner now. If you actually look at the reviews, and read through carefully, you'll see good things about both institutions and both ownership groups.

I searched for years before finding a gym and a community like LEAP. I've been to great gyms, but what was missing for me was that sense of community and encouragement. And LEAP has that tenfold! I have made lifetime friends here that encourage and support me in and out of the gym. The class sizes are small so you are never lost and the trainers help guide and push you every step of the way. Unlike box gyms, you can tell the trainers truly care about you. Not to mention the gym itself is brand new and fantastic. The owner, Matt, works nonstop to update equipment to make sure the members have the best of the best. The gym is also very clean and I have felt safe here during the pandemic.
I was previously a member at Unrivaled, also owned by Matt, and when they closed, remodeled, and rebranded I eagerly awaited their reopening so I could join again!
EDIT: Yes, I was asked to leave a review, and I chose to do so own my own accord. I would never post anything untruthful for an unknown gain.

LEAP offers fun classes for everyone - from those new to working out to those that are seasoned. Before starting at LEAP, I did not have much experience going to the gym other than occasionally going on the treadmill. Matt, Casey, and the other instructors patiently worked with me to make sure I was using the right techniques and form, helped me set a schedule that works for me, and encouraged me to continue improving myself.
There are three main reasons (among others) I am excited to go to the gym each morning: 1) the programming is always fresh, fun, and balanced - using a variety of fun tools around the gym; 2) the community is so welcoming and I look forward to seeing my friends; and 3) the instructors really care and will hold me accountable.

As a personal trainer who actually holds a degree in Kinesiology (unlike most trainers at LEAP, although Madeline and Casey are knowledgeable), I can tell you that Matt does not know how to personal train and has quite a bit to learn. In my opinion as a fitness professional, the training protocols are terrible. Very gimmicky classes/programs. Wildly overpriced. Lots of members getting injured from improper training, which you are not allowed to deviate from as a trainer, driving me to quit. Matt is also extremely unprofessional about these things, check below for confirmation. He deleted his response to me but I screenshot it.
Also after this post, he looks like he had his few members and wife Kim (who has never paid a dime here) come and give bogus reviews, definitely don’t believe them. Check a few months into the past and you’ll notice that most of the the reviews are for when this place was called Unrivaled with another owner involved.

I have been a member of LEAP for a little over 2 months and came here to write a review. I was surprised to find this most recent negative review, written by what seems to be a disgruntled employee. Now, I feel not only compelled to write about my experience here at LEAP, but to also write in response to the aforementioned negative “review”.
I am 48 years old and a practicing clinical psychologist, who consistently weaves health, wellness, and fitness into the treatment plans of my patients. AND, I practice what I preach. I have been intensely focused on my own fitness and nutrition for the past 14 years including: 1:1 personal training, small group training, strength and conditioning, hypertrophy training, HIIT, running, and even “training” my friends in-person and via zoom workout videos. I’ve been a member of many different gyms and training studios over the years, each with its own culture, style, and “feel”. I share all of this to say that I’ve been intimately involved in the fitness world in various capacities for many years and am therefore a good judge on whether a trainer is instructing from a foundational place of knowledge, experience, and safety.
I can easily say, without hesitation, that Matt, my 1:1 personal trainer, and the other staff who teach small group classes, are knowledgeable, focused on proper form and safety, while also encouraging us to push ourselves. In response to clients lifting “too heavy”, I can honestly say that I’ve never been encouraged to lift as heavy as I currently am training with Matt. However, he is acutely focused on my form, giving proper direction and feedback, and modifying by lessening weight or reducing reps when necessary. I have never been injured, nor do I fear that I may.
I am inclined to make one more comment in response to the negative review regarding this individual’s degree in kinesiology. A degree does not make a good practitioner. A good practitioner, whether it be a psychologist like myself, or a fitness trainer, comes from education- yes-, BUT more so is derived from years dedicated to a craft that becomes honed through years of experience and the individuality that each client brings to the table. Therefore, to discredit someone’s training style because they do not hold a a specific degree is extremely short-sighted.
LEAP has a true community feel. Everyone, including staff and clients, has good energy and lifts one another up. The classes are fun and the trainers I have worked with here are knowledgeable, professional, and dedicated to helping clients meet their own individual goals. My sense from the other clients at LEAP, some of them “long-timers”, is that they feel similarly as I do. 💪

This gym is GREAT. I’d highly recommend this place to ANYONE. The staff is really good with everything you’d want: Smart, motivating, and very accommodating. This type of training/fitness is exactly what every adult needs. It’s customized to one’s individual goals, and can be further customized depending on any injuries, schedule, etc- This really impressed me. I’ve worked out on and and off for 20+ years. For me, going to the gym and spending time on a treadmill then bouncing from machine to machine just doesn’t get it done anymore. LEAP provides very effective and efficient fitness, plain and simple. LEAP is a one of a kind fitness facility. It has the equipment and physical space of a luxury gym with the atmosphere of a welcoming neighborhood club at a reasonable cost.
The entire training team is friendly and encouraging, but will push you beyond what you think your body can do. They listen to your goals, learn about your lifestyle, and together you’ll come up with a plan to help you succeed.
I have taken advantage of almost everything LEAP has to offer from classes to personal training to nutrition consultations. It is the best investment I have made for myself. I’m in my best shape physically, mentally, and emotionally with the help of LEAP.
LEAP opened during the uncertain times of COVID-19. Matt and the team have taken every precaution to create a safe training space. They regularly clean everything from the weights to the floor. They enforce wearing your mask and maintain plenty of space between members in class. I’ve never once felt uncomfortable and have been extra grateful for the escape to the gym during this uncertain time.
I can’t recommend LEAP enough no matter where you are in your fitness journey from beginner to expert. Matt, Casey and Ana will help you get to where you want to go.

I have visited a couple times using ClassPass and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good full body workout. Both classes I have attended, Matt has created very unique and challenging workouts with a good mix of strength and cardio.

Unrivaled Fitness has been without a doubt the best investment of time and money I've made in my life. I took advantage of everything Unrivaled has to offer: from group classes, to personal training, to nutritional consulting, and its safe to say that it transformed me not only physically but also mentally. The workouts are dynamic, challenging, and never get boring (go to the Fight Club class and you will see what I mean). The trainers are knowledgeable, vested in their customers results and most importantly nice, down to earth people. You can get a good workout in a lot of places, Unrivaled has the right approach, support, classes, and environment needed in order to achieve long term, sustainable success.

Unrivaled is a great place to work out, create new friendships, and a safe place to be yourself while improving yourself. This is not one of those gyms where there are judging side-eye glances, this is a gym where the instructors truly care about your wellbeing and so do the members! My wife and I started going to Unrivaled back in late 2016, while we were still just boyfriend and girlfriend. The gym was close enough to our apartment that it was a perfect place to go to before work or right after as it was on the way to or from the Belmont train station. We immediately fell in love with the atmosphere and the instructors. This was when there was just two instructors, Matt and Marty, but they never made it seem like they were stretched thin. As the year progressed Unrivaled grew and added another stellar instructor (Andrew), as well as two other types of classes (Rowing and Fight Club). Rowing and Unrivaled Conditioning were my personal favorites, but Fight Club was a great workout as well. Unrivaled has grown even more since 2017, adding another great instructor (Steve) and even doing classes on Sunday mornings!
Working out isn't the only thing Unrivaled specializes in though. You can also help learn the tips and tricks towards a healthy diet with Unrivaled Nutrition. Towards the end of 2017, my then fiance and I started doing Unrivaled Nutrition with Matt to try and become a little healthier and look great for our wedding in 2018. The progress we had in our bodies was amazing. We not only looked great but we felt great too. Matt helped us through the entire year, giving suggestions on what to fuel your body with, and when you could maybe have a cheat every now and again. Both my wife and I, lost tremendous amounts of fat but gained the muscle back, which was our overall goal.
Overall, I would call the experience at Unrivaled Fitness and Unrivaled Nutrition a fantastic one. It is an amazing atmosphere and once you start working out there, you can't help but be sucked into the family that they have created. I highly recommend Unrivaled to those who are new to working out and those that are experienced. #NOSHORTCUTS

They provide fun, challenging new circuit routines every visit and offer individual instructor feedback to get the most out of each session. The music is always good too.

The year long nutrition program at Unrivaled is easily the best I have ever done. Matt started with easy substitutes, and gradually implemented more and more guidelines that were easy to follow and maintain. The food log, and fortnightly check-in's really helped keep me on track, and I really felt a big change after my year was up. Matt was encouraging without being critical, and really helped me achieve my goals. I've since had a friend complete the same program with amazing results!! So a big thank you Matt!

I attended a small group training class and loved it! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The workout was fun and challenging, and we were given lots of options to customize to our own level. I felt like I received the perfect amount of attention - not too little like you do in large classes, and not too much as you do with a personal trainer. Highly recommend!

I have been working out here for 2 years and highly recommend it for any skill level. The trainers are very knowledgeable and the classes are always changing so I never get bored working out. Since I have had great success with the classes, I also joined their Nutrition Program. I highly recommend this program as well. The nutritionists work with you and your lifestyle to get the results you are looking for. I have only been on the program 3 months and have gotten results I have not been able to attain by myself in years.

I love working out here. The instructors Marty, Matt and Andrew are great. They will show you proper form without ever making you feel bad or like you do not know what you are doing. Class size maxes out at 10 which is nice cause you do not feel on top of each other and you get personal attention. The workouts will get your heart rate up but they are low impact. Each move feels well thought out and they explain what body part you are working. Highly recommend their classes.

I've been going to Unrivaled for almost a year now and I'm constantly impressed with their ability to change up the workouts and keep things fresh. Matt, Marty and Andrew do a great job of making sure everyone in the class is engaged and doing the exercises properly to avoid any injuries. The classes are small so that helps too so you don't get lost in the shuffle. And the instructors will help push you to make sure you're getting the most out of your workout. I'd definitely recommend this place!

I've been working out for 15 years and this is—by far—the most comfortable workout environment I've experienced and the best results I've seen. There are currently three trainers here and they're all equally skilled at listening but also paying attention to your strengths and weaknesses, enabling them to challenge their clients and help them attain their fitness goals. You'll be challenged, have fun, and see results.

The guys at Unrivaled are awesome! I always leave class feeling energized. Marty, Matt, and Andrew help everyone through the exercises and circuits. The sessions are challenging and often high intensity, but you can modify and go at your own pace. In the past several months I've found myself getting stronger, and stepping up in weights feels great. I highly recommend Unrivaled!

I've been training with Matt and going to Marty's saturday morning group classes for years now and there's no place I'd rather be. You know that feeling at larger chain gyms where you wander around looking for an open machine and trying to formulate a workout with limited resources? Yeah, that doesn't happen here at all. You get guided workouts from experts in a space where all the tools you need are readily available all the time. Don't hesitate. This is the home you're looking for.

I love Unrivaled Fitness! I attend group classes with Matt and they are always awesome! He incorporates a lot of different equipment (bosu balls, Trx, resistance bands, weights, kettle bells, battle ropes) to keep the classes interesting and fresh each week! Class sizes are small and everyone gets their own station of equipment. Matt is awesome about monitoring and correcting form. He's not in your face like a drill sergeant and is super motivating. He will give you modifications if you have injuries etc. Its easy to find metered parking on this stretch of Belmont. My husband has trained with all of the trainers at unrivaled and they are all top notch! He lost over 50 lbs for our wedding with personal training and nutrition consultations with Matt! Thanks for making us a #fitfam unrivaled!

Unrivaled Fitness is the best. The classes are small enough so you receive personalized attention, and the instructors are always there to help, but never make you feel dumb if you're doing something incorrectly - they just want to help you reach your fitness goals. Every time I leave an unrivaled class I'm in better shape and I feel stronger. There's really no risk in trying one of their classes (1st class is free) so challenge yourself to try something new and see what everyone's talking about!

Would HIGHLY recommend Unrivaled to anyone looking for a motivating and intimate workout environment. I started there while training with Andrew who helped me lose more than 80 lbs and actually start enjoying exercising. He is amazing! I quickly added in the group classes which are great also. Andrew, Matt and Marty all put their individual spin on classes so you can get a great mix of workouts throughout the week. They keep classes at a challenging and motivating pace, and the small class size lets them watch form and lend assistance. A great fitness experience!

I've been going to Unrivaled for about two years now and will not go anywhere else. Matt, Marty, and Andrew always have different exercises each class and are all passionate about helping you. They are also laid back and don't try to intimidate you during class. I cannot say better things about them, and I actually look forward to the classes.

The team at Unrivaled Fitness are quite simply the best personal trainers in Chicago.
I have been training with Marty for the past 18-months. During this time I was able to lose over 35 pounds and decrease my body fat percentage significantly.
They offer a complete program that not only focuses on exercise but also nutrition. When it comes time to working out you will never get bored, they always keep it fresh and challenging. I always leave my workouts feeling energized, accomplished and stress free. Joining has been the single best thing I have ever done for myself.
Without hesitation I would HIGHLY recommend Unrivaled Fitness to anyone looking to make a positive change in their life.

I spent nearly 2 years working out at Unrivaled Fitness before moving out of Lakeview. Unrivaled Fitness is an AWESOME spot. Matt, Marty and Andrew are friendly and accommodating, the studio and equipment are clean. The workouts are very challenging, but are easily scaled for any fitness level. The community of people that workout at Unrivaled make a 6am class so much more bearable - I will certainly miss working out here!
