I absolutely love my Lifetime gym! The classes are always amazing, and the instructors keep me motivated every time. I especially want to highlight the Kids Academy — Alicia and Martha are wonderful! Ladies, please stop using your scrubs and other liquid products in the steam room people might have allergies or simply slip on it. I see the staff cleaning all the time, so no complaints at all! As a member since 2008, I have witnessed a concerning decline in cleanliness and maintenance, particularly over the last few years, despite significant increases in membership fees.
​The women's locker room and indoor pool areas are consistently unsanitary. Dirty towels are routinely left in stalls and the pool area, and floor residue often remains for multiple days, suggesting a lack of daily deep cleaning.
​The current standards are significantly below those of other Lifetime locations I have visited.
​Management must take immediate action to either better enforce member responsibility (e.g., proper towel disposal) or increase staff cleaning efforts. While I appreciate the quality of the equipment and facilities, I will not maintain my membership unless these cleanliness issues are promptly and fully resolved.

Best kid friendly gym! We are obsessed with the kids club! It’s huge and has so many age appropriate activities for the kids! Including weekly parents night out! They are wonderful with the kids and it’s unlike any gym daycare I’ve ever seen. Truly top notch. All of the staff (shout out to Jesse) is incredible and they go above and beyond to run a top notch facility! They also have an incredible indoor and outdoor pool for kids! I don’t know how we would get through the long winters without this place. Can’t recommend enough for families!!

I am longtime LT member, was in Orland Park before, then in Vernon Hills... After that for couple of years I left the club for personal reasons nothing to do with the club. I became a member again very recently and I have to say I am beyond impressed how the club is overall in its functional set up as the facility has certainly become better than before.
I have to personally thank the management, concierge desk team and pt team, especially Laura, who has been outstanding in her going out of the way consulting and sharing certain areas of the gym that I could benefit, at her time of recess as she went out of the way!

I’m extremely disappointed with the management and policies at Life Time Vernon Hills. Despite branding itself as a “family-friendly” gym, the actual experience — especially for families with kids — is anything but welcoming.

The rules in place often feel arbitrary, rigid, and completely out of touch with the needs of parents and children. Access to certain areas is either overly restricted or inconsistently enforced, and it seems like families are treated more like a burden than valued members.

For a facility that charges premium membership fees, the lack of flexibility and basic customer care is unacceptable.

I am writing to share a troubling and deeply upsetting experience I had at the Vernon Hills Lifetime Fitness facility on July 13 9:10. I have been a long-time member and have always appreciated the inclusive and respectful environment at Lifetime—until this incident.

While I was using the jacuzzi, fully dressed in a modest Islamic bathing suit with proper swim shoes, an employee named Jasmine approached me and told me, in a harsh and rude tone, that I was not allowed to be in the jacuzzi “fully clothed.” When I explained I was wearing an Islamic bathing suit and swim shoes designed for water use, she questioned whether they were “shoes,” and then spoke into her walkie-talkie. Without any acknowledgment of my explanation or an apology, she turned her back and banged the door shut as she exited.

I later approached Jasmine to ask her name. She informed me that “someone had complained” about me wearing clothing and shoes in the jacuzzi. This exchange left me feeling singled out and discriminated against. I noticed another woman in the jacuzzi who was wearing only a towel—not a bathing suit as required by posted signs—but no one seemed concerned about her presence.

I was hurt—not only by being called out for my modest swimwear but by the dismissive and unkind manner in which Jasmine handled the situation. A simple apology or even an acknowledgment that she understood my concern would have made a big difference.

I shared this experience with Nicole at the front desk, who was very kind, listened patiently, and gave me the names of the facility managers, including yourself and Todd Beisch. Her compassion and professionalism helped ease my distress somewhat.

I am writing about this because I believe every member should be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their cultural or religious practices. I wrote to Mrs Wawer and appreciated her response. That she will address this issue, and that staff will be reminded to approach such situations with sensitivity and awareness.

This is the nicest gym I've ever worked out at. They have absolutely anything a person could dream of. I love their steam room after a great workout. Check this gym out if you're an athlete, you'll be attending daily. While their monthly fee may be expensive, if you're using the plethora of amenities the gym offers, it's well worth the money.

Edit next day I just received a call from lifetime Vernon hills to inform me of gym policies. No apologies for harassment. No mention of apologies for employee behavior. The entitlement of these people working here considering I am writing their paycheck being a member with my entire family is astonishing. If I had any second guesses now I don’t. I will be finding another gym to give mine and my family’s $400 a month membership contribution to.

Edit: The fact that you don’t know who you are talking to in your response further trying to push policy on me is embarrassing. For your information I never ordered any DoorDash to the pool area or bring food from outside over a fence as you are accusing me of. At the moment your team was harassing me and my daughter for using the facilities my wife was out of town in Mexico so explain to me exactly how she was ordering door dash to the pool area. You and your whole team need to be retrained and to fact that your now putting false accusations on me and my family is unacceptable. My main gym for over a decade. I love Lifetime VH, the equipment, layout, members, classes, pool, etc. It's on the expensive side but to me is worth it. Every time I go elsewhere to work out I miss Lifetime VH. Highly recommend if you want a full luxury experience of a top end fitness club.

I love being a member at Life Time Fitness in Vernon Hills! There is so much housed under one roof. My family and I enjoy taking advantage of everything Life Time offers. We’re in the best shape physically and mentally all because of Life Time! The group fitness classes are top notch, and we utilize their extremely knowledgeable personal trainers. The salon/spa is our resource for any recovery/massage treatment, but day-to-day, we enjoy recovering in the steam room, hot tub & sauna. And then, we always enjoy a boost of protein from a cafe item on the way out the door. We can’t imagine anywhere else to get so much wellness in one place. Plus, it’s fun meet friends to play squash or pickleball, or just enjoy the outdoor pool in the summer!

I have been a member since few years ago. I have recently activated my account and have been going to lifetime everyday for the past few months. I really enjoying coming everyday and have an amazing experience. The customer service is amazing. I met a woman named Natali, she works at the front desk. She has helped me with providing information about the club, about classes and activities and any other information I have requested information for. She is very friendly, welcoming and always goes above and beyond to help people out. I really appreciate all the help she has provided me. Omg. Today was hands down the worst experience I’ve ever had at Life Time. And I’m honestly writing this not just to vent — but because I care. I’ve been coming here for years. I pay a lot for this membership, and almost my entire family is included — including the kids. I genuinely want this place to be better. It used to be.
And I really hope more people start speaking up. I’ve seen reviews saying the same things — dirty locker rooms, smelly showers, broken stuff — and yet nothing changes. If profit matters more than member experience and reputation, that’s something all of us should be thinking about.
I got to the pool today with my child at 10:20 AM — just 20 minutes after opening — and it was already packed. Not a single lounge chair left. No umbrellas. People were sitting on towels directly on the hot ground. It was so overcrowded you could barely swim.
We thought, okay — we’ll try the indoor pool. But a staff member told us we had to leave because there weren’t enough lifeguards for kids to be inside. I completely understand safety rules — I really do — but then I walked outside and saw nine lifeguards just standing under the canopy on break. It’s hard not to wonder: couldn’t one rotate inside?
Then there’s the seating. People who couldn’t get a chair ended up sitting at the bar café tables — just to get off the ground.
But what really got to me was that as a full-time member who pays year-round, I had the same access and treatment as someone who just showed up with a summer pass or a day guest. No early entry. No priority. Nothing. Families were sharing one lounge chair — literally waiting for someone to get up so they could grab it. I just sat there thinking, is this really what we’re all paying for?
And the family locker rooms — honestly, they’re in rough shape. Cabin #3 has had a broken shower for as long as I can remember. The showerhead doesn’t stay in place. The grout is black. The smell is always bad. And those old plastic curtains? Still there. Still uncomfortable and unhygienic. Today there were no towels in the entire family area. I left the shower soaking wet, and so did others. I heard multiple people saying “what’s going on lately?” It’s just not the standard we expect from Life Time.
Also — why can’t we pay with cash anymore? I like paying cash. And I overheard multiple people today at the pool café asking the same thing. They were told “card only.” Since when is cash not money? It just adds another layer of inconvenience for no real reason.
And finally — the food situation. I saw a family order a bunch of food and leave it on the ground near the pool. No one came to clean it up. So while you can process my card payment in seconds, the trash sits out for hours. That’s not the level of service I associate with a premium club.
Again, I’m not here to attack anyone personally. I respect the staff — I know they’re doing their best. But when the same problems exist for years, and members keep bringing them up, and nothing is done… it’s hard not to feel like no one’s really listening.
I want to keep coming. I want my family to keep enjoying this place. But if something doesn’t change soon, I don’t know how we’re supposed to keep justifying it.

Hi!! I have been a member at lifetime for years now. I am a student, so I come and go but i’ve been coming for the last couple months and the workers here have been amazing! I talk to Natali everyday at the front desk. She is amazing, very supportive and gives advice about anything you need. Besides that, Lifetime Vernon Hills is an amazing fitness club with all the possible exercise machines and training courts, including basketball, pickleball, and squash. Also, 3 or 4 different pools (indoor and outdoor), dry and wet saunas, this place has the best programs oriented towards members with young kids (which, for us, is one of the most important future) kids are always happy to come here, and that means the team is doing a great job, always welcoming with a smile and respectful attitude.
I wanted to send my appreciation to all the team members for the work they do so that we all feel welcomed and relaxed while visiting this facility.
Also, big thanks to the gym members for being courteous to each other.
PS:
I recently forgot my wallet at this club, and after 2 weeks, I almost gave up on looking when a member of the team called and announced to me that they had found the wallet. I came to pick it up, and it even had the cash in it. Big thanks for that. I'm really grateful to be a member of this facility.

Update your facilities. The men's locker room is from the early 2000's and hasn't changed. Instead of focusing on profit and increasing the membership price, increase the quality of the gym so that if you DO increase the membership, it's actually WORTH the payment. This is a review specifically for the owner of Lifetime. This is not a reflection of the service because I know the manager Iwona and she's amazing. I'm just tired of going there and feeling like the place is getting more and more out of shape. Update it to be nice like the Northbrook location! We need nice gyms! Not money sucking out of date gyms that try to rip off their customers! The sauna is always dirty and too small. The men's locker room showers and steam rooms alway smell horrible. It's really not my vibe as much as I love that gym, it's just a money sucking hole now. The Northbrook location is COMPLETELY UPDATED so I know the difference between what it is and what it could be if the owners of lifetime actually cared and focused on their clientele! The people of Vernon Hills deserve a nice gym and I will not go back to this gym until it's the gym we all deserve! If you want to go to an out of date gym, go there!

I’ve been a member of Lifetime for 5,6 months now and just recently started going to the dry sauna and noticed that people are sweating a lot and going into the pool without taking a shower. I know pool has chemicals that protect you from germs or whatever but just going into the pool with so much sweat without taking a shower is just disgusting. It says that all persons should take a shower before going into the pool. They should make a bigger sign and put it everywhere!

Aside from the state-of-the-art facilities, the customer experience at Lifetime is exceptional, with staff members who are friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to assist. Edit feb 2025:Front desk woman was super rude when I was trying to check in my guest. My father had an old phone and wasn’t able to download their app in order to check in as a guest. They should provide another way to check guests in. She was rude and we left the place annoyed and stressed! Guess, they always had problems with guests.....

Review 2022: Very nice place but some of the staff are kinda rude, besides they charge extra $100 to use the outdoor pool (which initially was the only reason for me to sign up to this gym), and on top of that they changed the policy of bringing guests on weekends without letting anybody know. I went to lifetime by inviting from my friend, my wallet in the locker was stolen.
I think somebody hehind me was peep my locker key pin code because I felt he stared at me while setting a locker.
I found the wallet the next day, but the cash was gone.
The front desk only guided me just report to police, didn't take any responsibility.

I would like to share that Lifetime Vernon Hills was nothing but a amazing experience for our family. I never once considered joining a gym before, but life changed and I became a stay at home dad with a newly born girl. Finding out that Lifetime offered an amazing childcare service was a game changer. It gave me the little break I needed during the week… and I actually started working out. The kids Academy and Staff were always so joyful and my daughter loved going there. 3 years and she is still so excited to go, thats because of the amazing people working there. But my favorite part and the thing I will miss the most is the Tuesday morning Surrender yoga class with Melanie. It was my reset for the week and helped keep me sane. I cant say enough about Melanie and her class. The bonus of the pool, hot tubs, steam and sauna were icing on the cake. It was also amazing to watch Iwona go from her amazing position as Kids Academy director to now being the General Manager. She is always full of energy and a pleasure to talk to. Our family will miss Lifetime Vernon Hills but will recommend it to anyone looking for a great family gym experience.

Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! I have been coming here ever since they opened, and although this location is no longer my "home location," it is probably one of the best Life Time locations in the Chicagoland/suburb area. Full of amenities, activities, and large space considering the tiers. Bathroom stalls in the Women's Locker Room can use a little bit more tlc. Aquatics/Lifeguards can probably do a better job during water break time to ensure no children are in the water. Besides all of these nuances, still 5-stars.

Beware of your belongings in locker room! I have been a member at this location for 7 years . I bought my wife on Sunday to add her to my membership and during the first visit her bag and coat was stolen from the locker. He code still worked to open it but the stuff was gone . Someone with a key must be doing it . We called cops and after making a report went home . All of a sudden they called that they found the stuff . I was also told by the officer that this was the 3d time in a week. Their new hires obviously have issues . They didn’t even apologize or offered any remedy .

Overall we love our fitness center. But, since it’s considered as family place, and there is a pool for kids, I don’t understand why kids are not allowed to use the hot tub!!! After the pool, especially in winter time, kids are getting very cold. When we are going to the changing room it’s cold there too, so kids are freezing till they reach the shower. There are two large hot tubs in common area and there is one more in the changing room, so I guess, in one of the hot tubs which are next to the pool, the little lower temperature can be put and the kids should be allowed to get warm in there after the pool. Especially in winter time.

They clearly aim to compensate for a loss of 200K of their members after pandemic by raising their prices to an unreasonable level. The club is OK but not $129 a month OK (BCBS discounted rate which was $99 before Dec 1). I was willing to pay $99 a month for what I was getting. I am not willing to pay 30% more, forget about their "regular" rate.

This gym is getting selfish and greedy. Equipment is aging rapidly, building is aging rapidly, they cut the hours short by 50% and yet still raise the price of membership over and over again continuously. I’m not impressed.

Such a disappointment. I wish I had read reviews before I signed up. I was looking for a higher end type club, but the staff proved that wrong. Complete arrogance and unwelcoming. If this club wants to charge high end premiums, then they had better start to hire high end staff that is accustomed to that type of environment. They should also point out in their description before you think of joining, that use of their outdoor pool is an additional fee, and use of Pilates equipment is an additional fee, all on top of the 175 a month they charge.

It's a great gym and one of the only fitness centers that have a kids pool. However the pricing for this fitness center has just been hiking up and is ridiculously high for what it is. $240~ for just my daughter and I to have a monthly membership.

It's a clean gym, I used to go only in the evenings so it was quiet but during prime hours it's pretty packed, especially with high schoolers taking a long time on their phone or just hanging around.

Facilities are clean, but didn't feel that different from the Schaumburg location which is "one tier" below this one, which costs about $100 less for both of us.

Some of the staff at this Vernon Hills location are rude and stuck up. I’ve been coming here for two years and SOME of the staff they hire aren’t friendly and helpful. As much as they are raising their prices I expect my experience here to be a lot better, this is disappointing.

Lifetime is replacing their turf field and one basketball court for pickleball... The basketball courts would get filled every night along with the turf. Prices keep increasing while the place gets run down each year (Also hours decreased and price STILL WENT UP). Staff is also disrespectful at times. In addition to that, I was not able to take guests in more than once in 60 days. Considering the Price this should NOT be the case. La Fitness and other gyms are so much better for the price that they charge. Lastly, we had an incident where a friend had a membership at a higher quality lifetime in Chicago and they said he could not come in. For what this franchise charges they should NOT be screwing members over like this. DO BETTER.

Lifetime Vernon Hills currently has two basketball courts and one turf field. For those patrons who are interested in playing pickleball, they are able to play on the basketball courts. For those who would like dedicated pickleball courts, they may venture out to Lifetime Northbrook, Lake Zurich, and Skokie, which all have dedicated pickleball courts.

Despite this, Lifetime Vernon Hills has chosen to remove a basketball court AND the turf field for the purpose of making six pickleball courts. I am confused why three is not enough? I think the number of members they will lose from this decision will far outweigh the number of new memberships, not to mention the construction fees they are about to take on.

I have put in my 30-day cancellation notice, as have and will others.

Really bad and unkind customer service by some of the staff. For ex, the really tall guy at the front desk… I don’t know what his problem is, but he seems to be having a bad day everyday. I don’t think he should be at a front desk and doesn’t fit in the customer facing position. Moreover, they keep increasing the membership fees for no apparent reason. Also, compared to other locations, this location is not at the $140 tier… Go spend your money elsewhere.

Terrible customer service. One of the staff ‘concierge’ members at the front desk called me while I was at work because our child caregiver was with our children and she demanded I send an email stating the caregiver’s info while I was not near a computer. Meanwhile she wouldn’t let them in even though the day prior to this we had no issue. She then increased our monthly fee by $60. I immediately told her we’d like to cancel our membership. No apology or explanation from them. They are super rude and don’t know customer service. I do not recommend this place.

Front desk staffs are hostile and unwilling to help from the day our family started the membership. Our family brought some other family friends to this location but we are all upset going there. We forget our belongings sometimes and ask them to check the lost and found. They always refuse to check. If you or your kids forget anything, it is gone. They never give it back!!! When we request some information about swimming and other kids activity, they never give the information. The website and app does not really give the clear information that we need. Yesterday evening, my kids forgot their belongings in the family room. We went there and asked help from the front desk staff Tanner in the morning , he rudely refused to check that for us. Other day I forgot my swimsuit, it took me 4 visits to find that!!!!! I feel discriminated!!! The worst customer service!!!

The kids academy at this facility is amazing. The staff is very friendly, my kids enjoy going and participating in the activities. The managers there are all amazing, especially Iwona W. She always goes above and beyond in helping us.

As far a fitness experience goes it is a good place to workout and relax. But the team members really need to keep a better eye on the younger members causing scenes fairly regularly. But really the worst part is the constant price hikes for no apparent reason or upgrades in the gym that I ever see. And now they are charging extra to use the pool area outside. What kind of craziness is that! Most are paying over 150 a month and now are being asked to pay extra per person to use the outdoor space. That is just wild to me. What is next, coin operated showers. Pay by the minute treadmill. It is just a bit ridiculous.

Would recommend that you go somewhere else for the following reasons. The facilities and equipment are all top notch, however depending on what time you are there you could end up waiting a very long time for equipment.... Most importantly, I would say about half of the trainers and a few staff are unprofessional to the point of being jerks. They are rude with others while training people. The this reason alone I would recommend finding a location with a more professional staff of trainers.

I went in and signed up for a membership and was helped by Tanner and Laura, both of whom provided the best customer service. Overall, the gym is very nice and clean. The changing rooms were clean with fresh towels, there were plenty of cardio machines open, and there were plenty of weight machines available for use. I would recommend working out earlier in the day when there are less kids and teenagers to maximize efficiency.

I have been a member at this location for two years and a Life Time member for nearly a decade. Compared to other Life Time locations, this one is among the worst in terms of customer service and staff. Monthly fees go up annually; however, the increase in funding has not been utilized practically. Staff is always hostile and unwilling to help, and management is careless. I took the children I babysat for on a trip to the pool, where there were brown stains on their towels. I was very disgusted by the callousness displayed by (lack of) housekeeping. Weights are always misplaced; they are never re-racked after use by members. Trash is scattered in the upper level; maintenance work is always lacking. Women's locker rooms and showers have shaving cream on their shower walls, hairs in their sinks, wet countertops, etc. It seems like many of the housekeeping staff are teenagers that do not take their jobs seriously; if they did we would not see such poor conditions in locker rooms or showers as we do now. It's a shame that this place has depreciated in value from its original purpose as an establishment dedicated to health and fitness. Take your money elsewhere.

I’ve recently heard Lifetime is doing away with the turf field. It’s incredibly disappointing to our family. While I understand, pickle ball caters to the “country club” atmosphere- this has put a bad taste in my mouth about this location and frankly, Lifetime as a whole. The hours have been cut, the price has been raised. I also noticed mass amounts of new attendees joining- are they getting a locked in rate for a cheaper price at the expense of loyal Lifetime customers? I can’t help but feel that this raise in membership price is going toward the new pickle ball court and balancing the cost difference for discounted rates. That’s not something our family will stand behind, so we will be finding another gym.

Life Time is my absolute favorite place for gym. Facility is always clean, staff is friendly and lots of equipments for workout. Tried their Zumba class, Ultra Class and Barre class. Okay we do understand that everywhere having hard time find staff and we do understand we are middle of pandemic. But lifetime in vernonhills owed way too much excuses. Like month ago i saw cleanning staff picked up towel from the floor, fold put back on the shelf i gave him a look but seems don’t care. They told us that they can not open 24hrs due to cleanning well but i don’t see it.
And today there were no towels at all, look for staff for 10minute finally found one guy ask him to bring some towels, well he told me that there are none, after another 10minute later people start complained to the same guy, finally he went out bring some towels and show his temper…well i dried my hair with my t shirt halfway and came out from gym in this weather. And one more,they are really really want member to get out so badly, from couple hours before they close they keep coming and talking to us we closing in An hour we are closing in 45 minute on and on…

- Following up based on the reply provided here, went to the front desk and they said they would just refer me back to corporate.

- Also, during Covid, the cafe had done away with punch cards and told us our existing cards were not worth anything anymore, so we could throw them away. Recently we noticed they had reinstituted punch cards. When I went to the cafe to ask what to do about our lost credits, the worker said they can only do what their managers tells them (which evidently is nothing, not even to ask the manager). So another dead end.

What is one thing I regret not knowing ?

That if you walk barefoot in warm moist shower floors and then wear gym shoes afterwards, I would create the perfect breeding grounds for a nasty fungal athletes feet. Not the gyms fault but wished they did advise! I’ve been scratching my feet since 4 years ago when I joined LT. I’m fairly healthy and Covid, even pregnancy was a joke compared to Athletes feet, which is highly contagious in locker rooms, shower floors. It’s embarrassing to suffer from it. Now I’m applying clotrimazole cream from the dollar tree, soaking my feet in apple cider vinegar, tea tree oil, athletes foot spray… daily for weeks to avoid an outbreak and hopefully kill this fungal infection. I’ve lost sleep. I wish I knew. Wear sandals everyone, be safe.

I enjoy yoga going to Root yoga . Ben is a great instructor. After finishing his class it really helps my joints. I feel like I just had a massage. One of my favorite instructors.
Lifetime has a beautiful facility . Indoor outdoor pools steam sauna hot tubs. Lots of workout equipment free weights TRX. It’s a bit pricey but if you use it it’s worth it.

Just visited this Lifetime as I am from out of town, but I am a member where I live . I wanted to bring my brother who could be a possible future member so he could see how it is. We walk in and I check in to find out that this club is a level above mine which is fine. I’ve been to other lifetimes such as the Lifetime Sky in NYC where they allowed me a grace visit which is great and they were so nice! I wish I got the name of the lady who I talked to hear at Vernon Hills because she was so rude and on a power trip. I understand I am not at the level to go to the club here in Vernon Hills, but I am still a member of lifetime and a human so I should be treated with some respect. She told me I could do a grace visit, but she was telling me she really shouldn’t let me in there and that a note was going to be put on my account. So I understood I could come in on my grace visit but I wanted to use my guest pass so I could show my brother what lifetime was all about because it’s a great gym. She looked at my brother and told him rudely that he would have to pay, and was insinuating that we should just leave. She was telling us other gyms we should go to basically trying to get us to leave. It sounds exaggerated, but it’s hard to describe how she really was and how her tone and choice of words were. We ended up just leaving because I did not want to deal with her anymore. It’s sad because my brother obviously wouldn’t want to be apart of the Lifetime family after that experience. It just felt like she was trying to belittle us. There’s ways to explain things to people and nice ways of doing it. It’s basic customer service which is one of the main traits a lifetime employee should have as I should know because I actually worked for lifetime in the past. I believe she was a front desk manager of some sort because she stepped in front of the front desk worker to talk to us.

Been a member of this gym for almost 10 years now and could not be happier - aside from the somewhat impersonal feel, there is no other gym that compares in the area. Cleanliness is always a priority here and the ambiance as well as countless amenities offered make it well worth the high price point. Being able to access the outdoor pool in the hot Chicago summers is an unbeatable perk.
