Max Aquatics is an indoor, 25 yard, 6 lane pool serving the instructional, fitness and recreational needs of all ages and skill levels in the western suburbs (Western Springs, LaGrange, LaGrange Park, Brookfield, Riverside and more) and nearby neighborhoods of Chicago. We are conveniently located in McCook, across the street to the south and east of The Max sports complex.

When coming in the facility, I stood in front of the person at the front desk waiting to get her attention. Friendly but not greeting or engaged in her job. I signed up a 3 year old and 10 year old for beginner swim. Both children were told what to do and left mostly independently to do it. There is a glass room dividing parents and swimmers. The one employee opening the door to let swimmers in kept leaving her spot to eat pizza and kept saying it was okay while my 3 year old swallowed water in two occasions (I took her out the second time-banging the glass). My 10 year old was in the 6 foot side and said the instructor saw her drowning and didnβt help her-felt like she swallowed a gallon of water. I asked for a refund and they kept 5 percent. There was no interest on why I cancelled the classes and was only told they would make an βexception β this time.

Been taking my daughter to swim classes here for a couple of years. We were excited to graduate from the baby classes, which is 30 minutes of just getting the kids used to being in water and most of the instructors we had did not seem too engaged in the class. Once we got to the 3-5 classes, the instructors were great and my kids loved it. However, we had 2 weeks in a row where, first, my 3-year-old fell in the water and was picked up by another instructor who was walking around the pool. Then the next week, during the last 5 minutes of "play time," my 4-year-old slipped off the wall and was fully submerged and flailing in the water. The teacher (who is great) was with another child. I don't know how long my daughter was under water (it felt like forever), but it was long enough for all five parents watching to bang repeatedly on the class and yell for someone's attention, since the door to the pool is locked and we couldn't get in. Finally, an instructor walking around the pool noticed and grabbed my daughter. During both incidents, the "lifeguard" did not notice either girl and made no move to help either time. After the second incident, we removed my daughter's from the class. I spoke with the manager, Jackie, who was great, discussed how there is no way that should be happening, and offered a full refund. Then she had the supervisor, Marty, call me. He made the situation much worse by repeatedly discussing how young children don't listen by the pool and it causes unsafe situations. I agreed with him, acknowledging that my 3-year-old fell in due to not listening. But my 4-year-old is very nervous by the water and tends to be a very good listener. Despite mentioning this, Marty again discussed how children don't listen and cause an unsafe situation by continually jumping in the pool on the own. Even if my daughter was not listening, there should be no reason a child is fully submerged under the water with no one (especially the lifeguard) noticing until parents finally get their attention by banging on windows and yelling. Marty made the whole experience worse by his attempts to explain why the situation occurred and helped me feel more confident in my decision to transfer the girls to the new Foss swim school (which is also much bigger and cleaner).

I had a great experience with Max Aquatics during the summer swim camp. My 9 year old has emotional issues and it was really important to me that he learn how to swim. Long story short, he was struggling in the structured setting of typical swim lesson but the folks here were super accommodating (which included letting me join in with my son in our own lane) and as a result he ended up learning how to swim! Not only that, he loves swimming and was even learning how to dive. He has gained so much confidence of which he was totally lacking before. I just totally appreciate the warm and compassionate folks here and I want people to know about them and how great this place is.

I definitely like this facility. My four-year-old son is a member here. I like the instructors. it is clean and they are well organized. I would have given them a 5 star rating but I called earlier today to find out if he was able to make up a class if he lost one due to being sick with a cold. They did not offer that. That really is disappointing

We signed our 4 year old son up for private lessons with Amy and in under 8-10 lessons his swimming has improved immensely. Amy has been so patient and kind as our son has a very strong personality. He has loved going to swimming and so proud of himself! We canβt thank Amy enough and will be signing up on daughter too!

First day for my girl. She was scared towards the end but instructors handled it like the pros they are. She's excited to go back after a little talk at home. You can observe from the waiting area. Super easy to enroll. If swim lessons for adults were available I would enroll also.

Not super impressed. My husband always brought our daughter and last week was the first time I came bc our youngest is now enrolled. Almost zero engagement from the instructor. Never played with the kids, never helped themβ¦ nothing. Stood in the corner until it was time for the next βthing.β I want my kids to be safe in the water and learn to swim so this class is important, but disappointing nonetheless

I've taken my kids here for the past couple of years and we are very happy with the swim lessons. The facility is very nice and feels very clean. The instructors are great. My youngest was very afraid to go in the water for her first few lessons and the instructors were always very kind and helpful. Now the instructors will sing Disney songs to them to keep them engaged and happy during their lessons. Highly recommend!

Was here for a party as mermaid entertainment (check out The Joliet Mermaid)... the pool is nice and warm, and the staff was super nice and helpful! I loved that they had a bunch of floats and toys for the kids to play with too!

This place is nice to come swim at if you're a member during free swim, however, more than once we've been kicked out 20mins prior to the posted closing hours. They're usually 7-9pm or 8-9pm during the week and the kids working will come in at 8:30 saying you have ten minutes left to swim. That's just kind of ridiculous when you think about how much you have to pay a month for your membership, especially if you can't be there exactly at 8pm. I'm not sure if it's a rule that they have to be out by 9pm or what, but if so then either lengthen their shift or shorten your hours because it's kind of misleading.

Very nice and clean facility. The swimming coaches are polite and outgoing. I like that it is very family oriented. They have a large glass window for you to watch your little swimmer, a separate room for kids to play and a huge dry erase board that the kids love to doodle on. However, there are a couple things that couple use some improvements.
1. The locker rooms are too small to accommodate the amount of swimmers. this is a huge inconvenience. It gets very hectic while swimmers are changing after their class just ended and then there are the swimmers whose class is about to start. Literally bumping elbows if not reaching over one another to get into your locker.
2. The front staff could be a little friendlier. They never welcome you with a smile and seem to always be on their phones. I've had to personally ask them to brew some more coffee... I would understand if they were busy but they are never really doing much.

We do kids swimming lessons here. The kids have a good time, and really love the instructors. There are lanes if you're looking for a workout. Clean facility. Only gripe is that the locker rooms are small and crowded between swim lessons.
