Momentum OP is a boutique fitness studio in Oak Park serving the greater Chicago area, including Berwyn and surrounding communities. Our immersive dark room workouts combine HIIT, strength, and endurance training with marathon support to create a motivational, club-like atmosphere that is fun and engaging for walkers, runners, and athletes of all levels. Led by dedicated coaches and a supportive community, Momentum OP delivers comprehensive training programs ranging from marathon coaching and treadmill classes to high-energy strength and cardio sessions. I highly recommend Momentum. I’ve been with them since June 2025 and really enjoying the variety in the workouts. A great mix of cardio and strength training that you can tailor to where you’re at or how you’re feeling that day. It’s a positive and welcoming environment with great coaches and music.

A couple friends frequent this gym so when I came in town they invited me. They told me it was a treadmill class. Kenya at the front desk was so helpful and gave me a tour. We took class with Coach Chris and it was great. They gave me a heart monitor and I could watch my progress on the screens that were in front of me. And you will sweat! There’s cards on the treadmill to follow the workout with varying inclines and speeds and you go at your own pace. There was also weights and mat portion that rounded out the workout to ensure you got your strength training as well. The room is also dark, no lights which adds a nice touch. I appreciated no lights beaming on me. It was really great class and I would definitely return.

My wife and I started coming here last December and haven't looked back. Their Tread and Combo classes are awesome and the instructors are phenomenal. The classes are setup to be as challenging as you want to make them so it's really great for all fitness levels. There is minimal down time/standing around so you really pack it in for the 55 minutes you're in class which we really appreciate and makes it a great bang for your buck! Highly recommend this gym/studio to anyone in the area.

Im introverted and super self aware of how i take up space so I was really wary of taking a thread class, but im so happy i did! Jenny is absolutely amazing and cool and Kenia (Kenya?) is very sweet and has a warm welcoming energy !!! I always found it hard to want to stay on the treadmill but this class was so fun and engaging and the energy in the studio was wonderful. Also I love that all the lights are off!
Honestly there’s no way to focus on anything other than yourself, your heart rate on the tv and Jenny’s instructions. It took sometime to figure out where I needed to be for the incline but once you get it, you got it. I love the music that was playing too, I wasn’t bored a second during the class and if anything I remember just being exhausted at the last 3 minutes of the class but I kept it pushing!
They are very nice about being a ClassPass user, I had read comment sections on other sites about studios not being super welcoming to class pass users but they didn’t mind at all! I was so surprised and it really put me at ease. I like this place so much that I bought 4 sessions a month package so I can keep coming and support the studio directly. I’m excited to keep going!

Momentum OP is awesome. I was looking for a place that would be effective, hold me accountable and have a fun, yet competitive atmosphere. The coaches are all amazing! Combo classes are never the same and usually includes weights, bands, floor work, stretching . I have enjoyed coming to class because Jenny works with me on modifications that I can do without getting on/off the treadmill. I don't feel embarrassed because it's hard for me. I like that while she encourages you to push a little more, she also reminds us to pay attention to what our bodies are telling us and to be safe doing each part of the workout. Also the Momentum crew are easy talk to and will address any concerns that I have. The variety of music is great. I really enjoy coming in for my workouts.

I used classpass to do a combo class while I was in town visiting a friend who recommended momentum. From the moment I walked in the door, everyone was so friendly and helpful. They get to know you and your goals and they pay attention. The class itself was the level of challenging i was looking for and people of all ages/fitness levels could easily participate and modify the class t their level/needs, I would be a regular here if I lived in the area.

This place is literally my weekly therapy. I absolutely am grateful to have a place like Momentum here in the OP community to reach your optimal health and your best self, physically, and mentally! It was reviews on Google what inspired me to visit Momentum in OP and take a free class, so I hope my review helps others decide whether or not it is what you’re looking for.
I struggle to exercise on my own, so I was looking for some sort of class that would make me feel satisfied with the workout I did without people fighting over space or obsessed with cellphones around me. Momentum has that and more. Coaches are awesome. Jenny in particular helps you get that sense of community they constantly emphasize, plus I love her energy. Coach Gavin has that voice that get you going and I love that! Taking a class at Momentum is like getting in a different dimension for 55 minutes and forget about everything outside that room. The music, the constant motivation from the coaches, and the different workouts makes this concept unique and enjoyable every time. Give it a try!

Recently joined after Orange Theory closed their downtown Oak Park studio. I really enjoy Momentum OP’s workout classes. I find the strength potion more rigorous and beneficial and the Woodway trendmills are much better on my knees and joints. They make exercising a lot of fun and you feel great afterwards. If HIIT is your thing, this is the place to be.

Obsessed with Momentum. First, it’s an independent/local business. But second, I am training for my 11th marathon and started going to momentum in January. I can physically see the difference in my body and muscle gain, but more importantly my running is improving tremendously. I’m getting faster, my endurance is better, and I’m recovering faster. The only change I’ve made this season is adding 2 days/week consistently and it’s making a huge difference. Meg is the BEST, the music is energizing, the energy is high.

I was hesitant to try this class as I generally avoid high intensity group fitness situations. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the combination of treadmill and strength training segments that made up the hour. I love it here! We have only taken classes w Jenny so far- she is a NATURAL coach and is so motivating, helpful, hands on, friendly, knowledgeable, and encouraging!- but I’m sure that all of the other coaches are top notch as well! Marcus (manager) was also so helpful and friendly with checking us in and speaking to us about membership options. Membership prices seem very reasonable compared to similar options in the area. We also got a chance to speak to Michael (owner) via text when he checked in about any limitations/goals/questions before our first class which was so helpful. It’s a challenging but fun workout with great music and the coaches help you to modify as needed- there seemed to be people of all fitness levels. The other members were so welcoming and it seems like there is a supportive community already built. Highly recommend!!

Absolutely amazing class . Great vibe, great workout, great music. My first class I started off with a light jog because I wasn’t sure of myself and the treadmills speed. By my third class I was running faster and much more comfortable. You go at your own speed/pace and you’re not judged if you just feel like walking cause it’s one of those days. I just go up on the incline to still feel that burn. I love the intervals as well because you really do get a full body workout and get a chance to catch your breath from running but still working out your entire body. I highly recommend.

Being a busy new mom and starting my fitness journey again after postpartum, Momentum OP has been a game changer for me! The classes are well designed, planned, and it’s nice to show up and have them take care of my fitness plan for me. Momentum OP offers morning and evening classes which has allowed me to show up for myself and balance my work and family schedule. I joined Momentum OP under the Stride Fitness umbrella in August 2023. Even though I have been a tennis player for over 15 years, running was never something I enjoyed, so I was intimidated when I initially joined. However, Momentum OP is very accessible to those not inclined to run. The classes are great ( 6:00am strength is my favorite :-) and offered at various times every day, and they do not have extremely long wait lists like other gyms I have tried. As a teacher, I appreciate how knowledgeable and motivating the coaches are. Overall, it's a great gym with amazing coaches and members.

I have found my happy place at last! Momentum in Oak Park is a well conceived workout venue featuring state of the art treadmills and a very competent staff to help you achieve your fitness goals. Their combo classes give you an amazing all body mixed aerobic and strength training experience. The cardiac monitors help you intelligently adjust your personal workout. Every single person who works there is upbeat, friendly and welcoming.

Everyone is super supportive, it’s a judgment free zone, and it’s a great way to start my day. I love how they give instructions for runners or walkers and you set your own pace. You do you! I loved it! The treadmills are high quality and easy on the joints and knees. My biggest problem are shin splints and I did not get them. I bought a membership right after my class and I look forward to going back. Every coach is great and I look forward to my class.

I am adding to my review - I absolutely love this workout! I am not a runner, so Momentum OP gets me out of my confort zone. Even then, I can speed walk if I feel the need. It's nice and dark in the studio and the music is loud so I can make all the ugly faces and grunts that I want to get my best workout 😁

I've been trying for YEARS to enjoy running. Surprisingly, being on a treadmill, in a dark room, with a mirror in front of me and pumping music was what I needed. Seriously, it's mostly the coaches that helped me change my mindset and improve. I'm glad I took the leap and checked it out. I would recommend Momentum for both beginner and seasoned runners. I have never gotten bored during a work out. I love that you have a wrist watch to monitor your heart rate to make sure that you're getting the most benefit of a HIIT class, ensuring that you meet your goal in interval training! I can’t say enough about the amazing coaches, supportive environment, and the class structure that Momentum OP offers! Since I’ve been training with these coaches I’ve started running faster & farther and as a bonus I now fit back into my pre-pregnancy jeans! I love both the TRED and COMBO classes and try to go 3-5 times a week consistently—it’s definitely paid off. Coach Gavin, Yates, Meg-O and Jenny all have amazing and different approaches to training that will keep you moving forward and never getting bored with your workouts. The community of OP-ers is also exceptional and has runners/walkers of every level. Cannot recommend Momentum OP enough.

Momentum is awesome! I was there when it was STRIDE, and what makes it an amazing place is definitely the instructors. So when I heard they were changing from STRIDE to their own studio but would continue with the same staff I knew it would still be awesome if not more so! They are all super friendly, welcoming and will push you! I love how Jenny always greets me by name when I come in. I even rearranged my work schedule so that I could take her class 2/week for the upcoming year :)

I’ve been a member of Stride- now Momentum OP- for about a year. I have loved the classes so much. The instructors are very helpful, answer questions and have given suggestions with some of my lower back pain. I am not a runner, so I was glad to see the workouts are geared to all levels, walkers included. The strength component is great, too. That part is probably my favorite.
